Reviews With Photos - Artsy Bakes by Mana

Mana was such a pleasure to work with. I contacted her last minute to make some custom cookies for a baby shower and she took on the project with enthusiasm (even though she probably didn't have time). Mana was very thorough in her communication about how we wanted the cookies to look like and updated us throughout the process. The cookies turned out more beautiful than I expected! She even packaged them up beautifully with a pink bow so that we could give them out as party favors. I found out about Artsy Bakes by Mana from a baby shower I attended a few weeks ago and the cake was decorated so beautifully and tasted amazing! It was such a good flavor and wasn't too sweet at all. I will definitely use Mana for all of our cake and cookie orders in the future!

    Custom cake

We have been ordering custom cakes and cookie favors from Mana for the last few years. Her designs are always beautifully detailed, and we love it so much. This year, my son wanted a Nintendo Mario cake. When I asked her for the cake, I requested a Nintendo Mario simple design with some characters on the surface of the cake, she nailed it! Everything was perfect. My son was really excited and happy. All his friends were amazed, and request a piece with star/coin/mushroom: any character. That was such an adorable moment of the party. Even better the cake was delicious to eat. The sponge is fluffy, and the cream is so airy. Kids and adults finished their slices quickly and wanted more. I really appreciate Mana's talent and making our special day even better.

    Wedding cake

Mana was so wonderful to work with for our wedding. She had great insight into the size of our cake required for the number of guests as I had no clue. Our cake was so beautiful, and she was so thoughtful throughout the whole process. We enjoyed everything including the tasting box. I really wanted a cake that was more Japanese in flavor so it wouldn't be nauseatingly sweet, and Mana's was perfect! I wish I can just pop by and buy her cakes whenever, they're that good! Her attention to detail is amazing, I highly recommend her!

This was me and my friends 2nd time to the Summer Nights and last year we really really enjoyed it…read more Everything was delicious and we couldn't wait to go back. This time (yesterday), however, was not nearly the same experience. First of all, I realized we couldn't book a table for 8 people, so me and my friends book 2 tables for 8.30PM. I called asking if it's possible to put our tables together close or side by side, they said they will try their best. We all showed up at 8.30 and waited until around 9-9.15 because they only had 1 table ready. Ok. Come the time the other table opened and it's not even that close to each other. But it's okay, I respect the limitations on this part. No one came to us to take our order or even give us water until way later, and we got our drinks at 9.45. Another critique is that my friend called and ask how much corkage fee and they said $25. It turned out to be $40. Another disappointment, but it's ok. Not much can be done bout that part. Next thing is the food. We enjoyed the fried green beans. Crudo was really really salty, and it's not only 1 person thought that. We wondered if the kitchen mistakenly salted the fish twice. We enjoyed the peach salad. We ordered a few different pasta and the tagliatelle in particular was disappointing. It really lacked flavor that we had to mix the other pasta dish sauce to it. The pork plate was good, a bit small but we enjoyed it. Now the mussles and frites were disappointing too. The sauce just didn't do it for me (other friends agreed). I always talked really highly about Nonna Mercato (I also enjoyed the brunch so much) and always told people that this is one of my most favorite restaurants in Long Beach, but this one really missed the mark for me and my friends. I don't know if this would make us want to go to Summer Nights again next time. For $130 per person (after tax, tip, and corkage fees), I definitely hoped for a much better experience.

Each one is packed with flavor, making you wish you had ordered a dozen instead of just one or two. Given their size, I'd recommend two donuts per person. They bake everything fresh to order and offer a wide variety of flavors, and the staff is welcoming and helpful when recommending what to try. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, it's also a great spot to work remotely or catch up on emails. Also make sure to check out their cute merch items when you're waiting on your order!

What made them different is they used taro flour and cooked them in coconut oil. Some of their flavors were tropical. Now I can write about how the oil smell emanating from the store made me nauseous whenever I passed by during business hours. It's weird because I didn't think bad of the donuts themselves and could stand to eat them. I will say after having them on two prior occasions, they made an impression on me when they participated in the yearly Belmont Shore chocolate festival. They offered a freshly chocolate glazed donut. It was so delicious having it fresh as opposed to letting it sit and have later. Thanks for the memories! I won't forget you, Holey Grail!

The price for the amount you get - whether it's small or large - is really good. I've tried all their flavors, which they have a variety of. Went with the ube and a white chocolate macadamia. Of course both were delicious. One major caveat though-you MUST get them warmed up. Last time I had their cookies they were warm and I fell in love. This time I thought I would eat it later so I declined. Well, of course once I got the cookies in my mitts I had to have a bite or two. Initially, I was completely disappointed, and thought this can't be right. I was going to ask the friendly staff if they could warm it up, but that seemed weird since I had already broken off a couple of bites. Took my ube home, quick 15 second warm up and it was back to perfection. Rookie mistake on my part and I won't do it again. While I was in the store I nearly ended up buying a load of cute items, that I thought I absolutely must have. Showed some restraint, but I can't guarantee I will be able to again.
