As soon as I saw the baked good, I had a bad feeling. They all looked like they were display items that had been left to dry and that's how they tasted. When they plopped everything in a bag, my heart sank further. It looked like disappointment and tasted like it too. Fresh baked pastries aren't treated like carnival trash. Even hours later I'm still mad I wasted my time coming here. Ugh beyond frustrated.

I've been buying sourdough bread loaves from supermarkets, but always remember the higher quality sourdough from Artisana. What I like about this sourdough is it tends to be softer and made with higher quality organic flour and ingredients. I called ahead to inquire if the loaf could be sliced, and when I arrived at the Artisana shop, the attendant discussed different types of sourdough bread, like the pain de campagne variety. I am curious about trying the olives and rosemary sourdough next. Service here was really good here and it was easy to find a parking space. Highly recommended for fellow sourdough lovers. 5/5

I can't believe this has been so close to my house for years and I never saw it! We got a baguette and it was absolutely amazing. Also had a peach pastry that was very tasty.

You guys I am OBSESSED! I almost don't want to post a review. But I did, because I am not a gate keeper. The sourdough, doesn't have preservatives, but I swear I will eat this bread with no butter and not even toasted. Am I crazy? Yea I am over this bread YO! The puff pastries were really puffin! Like the CRONCH. I am excited to come back to try more stuff!!

    Swedish cardamom bun

.: 2/24/2024 Edit :. After writing this review, I received a message from the business that they will be bringing back the cardamom buns on Friday and Saturday this spring! Everyone go out and support them! ______________________________________ It pains me deeply to write this review, but I am still giving Artisana 5 stars - if by some remote chance someone associated with the business reads these Yelp reviews: BRING BACK THE CARDAMOM BUNS - PLEASE!! I had been craving Swedish cardamom buns (kardemummabullar) ever since returning from a trip to Stockholm. It was a struggle to find these in Houston, until I found Artisana - they used to sell them on weekends at the store and the Urban Harvest Farmer's Market. They were delicious! I was so ecstatic to find a place to get my fix. You can imagine my disappointment when they informed me they were going to stop selling them. I really didn't get an explanation, seemed odd in that they seemed to always be sold out of them :( Part of me is hopeful they will reverse course in the future. In the meantime, if anyone knows where I can find cardamom buns in Houston, DM me! Regardless, their baguettes are excellent - I would put them #2 (second only to Magnol, who is the reigning champ in HTX in my opinion). Pleeeeese bring back the kardemummabullar!

Came in the other day to pick up a bag and some bread. Parking is easy as there's a lot in front along with a few dedicated spots. It's fairly small, so I would imagine that it could get crowded on a more busy day. There is a wide variety of delicious-looking pastries and breads available to buy all on display on the counter. It also smells really nice inside because of all of the fresh-baked goods. The people behind the counter were professional, kind, and gave us recommendations to try. After the bag pick-up we got the Blueberry Almond Bostock and a loaf of plain sourdough bread. The pastries are delicious. The bread is a bit more on the sour side (in a good way) and the crust is excellent. We got a Cinnamon Roll, a Salted Honey Pistachio Cookie, and a Ham and Cheese Croissant. I highly recommend the cookie and the bostock. The cookie was probably our favorite - it has a very similar taste to a Turkish dessert called kalburabastı or perhaps şekerpare, with the cookie being drenched honey syrup and the delicious chopped pistachio throughout. Also like these desserts, it is very dense and best enjoyed in small pieces at a time to truly savor. I believe there may have also been white chocolate in the cookie as well. Whatever the case, it was delicious. Would definitely come back another day to try more items.

    Pain au chocolat croissant (halved)
    Michelle O.

The pain au chocolat croissant ( pastry filled with chocolate) was $5 and had an amazingly flaky and crunchy exterior. Each bite gave a satisfying crunch. The inside had the usual amount of chocolate. The pain de campagne bread (organic sourdough) isn't as tangy as other sourdoughs. It's a big loaf for $8.50. I had it sliced at the store.

Where has this place been my whole life. I'm totally in love with it. I love the morning bun, the Olive and rosemary bread, the cream cheese danish, with fruit on top and pretty much everything they have. We are now stopping by every weekend these days because we love it

They also have a spacious parking lot, which was convenient. Since I had my dog with me, I stepped inside briefly to confirm that the patio was open before settling in. I greeted the young woman at the counter and asked if patio seating was available. She responded, "Yes, because dogs are not allowed inside." That felt unnecessary. I was clearly asking about the patio for that exact reason. I was not attempting to sit indoors, and I understand health regulations. She then added that the Houston Health Department could walk in at any moment. Again, I was not trying to dine inside. I simply wanted to confirm patio access so I could enjoy a coffee outside. I asked if someone would be outside to take my order. She said no. So I asked if she could take my order right then so I could immediately head out to the patio. She agreed, but her tone and demeanor felt dismissive, which made the interaction uncomfortable. At that point, I decided to leave. If the patio is dog friendly, there should be a smoother process for solo customers with pets. A simple, "Yes, the patio is open. Let me take your order now so you can head outside," would have made this quick and easy. Advisory: If you are visiting with a dog, I would recommend bringing another person with you. If you are alone, the ordering process may be awkward, as you cannot remain inside with your dog while placing your order. I would have happily spent money here, but the service made the visit feel more procedural than welcoming.

This is where the greatness ends. Almond croissant was 3 stars. It's open faced with the almond paste dolloped on top in the middle, and then it's drowned in powdered sugar. No. Ordered a matcha separately after looking over the menu...requested to be made with oat milk and added vanilla syrup. Total for the drink alone was over $9 with the substitution/addition and it came in an Itty bitty tall size (Starbucks reference) cup. Bland, slightly gritty, nah. I am not a matcha purist, but I prefer it over coffee, and I got excited for vanilla flavor (basic, I know) only to be rewarded with nothing. Not sure if I would return to try other baked items. Stopped by because I thought there would be more kolache options but there was only one, which had pork (bacon) in it. Sigh.

The listing for this exact location says "pets welcome," so I felt confident stopping by. However, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by two customers fawning over my dog. Before any staff member greeted me or even acknowledged me as a customer, someone from behind the far counter told me that dogs were not allowed inside. I mentioned that their Google listing says pets are welcome, and the response was that it applies to a different location. That would be fine if it were clear, but the listing I checked had this location's address directly underneath "pets welcome." That is confusing and misleading. What made it more frustrating was the lack of hospitality. There was no greeting, no attempt to clarify kindly, no "We're sorry for the confusion," and no effort to offer a solution like helping me quickly order to go. It felt dismissive. Clear and accurate information matters. If pets are not welcome at this location, the listing should reflect that. I drove out of my way based on that detail, and it ended up being a waste of time and gas. Because of that experience, I chose not to patronize the this location but may try another location one day.

I believe the first time I came here. I had some breakfast tacos and an iced latte which I did really enjoy. Today I went, and I had a chorizo empanada, a Horchata doughnut, and the Neapolitan latte. The empanada was nice and hot, I do wish it was a little more flavorful but next time I'll probably just add some hot sauce or something. The inside looks really cozy however I didn't stay and eat there since I had my pets in the car. The Horchata doughnut was interesting, was not what I was expecting, but didn't hate it. The Neapolitan latte taste like dessert, was definitely on the sweeter side which the cashier had warned me of. But overall, I really enjoyed it. I do love that they use Bendy straws, it's one of the only coffee shops I've been to that has consistently used them lol.

One corner of the room is charmingly not quite tidy, as if the café itself were whispering: "Relax. Real life happens here." Industrial ducts snake overhead, large windows flood the space with natural light, and sociability seems to circulate as freely as the air. Now, the coffee: a revelation. The espresso is concentrated civilization -- exactly as it should be -- and the cappuccino is an elegant balance of foam and depth, not one of those half-liter dairy-fatigue exercises from anonymous multi-national chains-that-shall-not-be-named. The staff? Friendly, knowledgeable, and disarmingly competent -- the sort of people who know precisely why this bean tastes like citrus and chocolate instead of simply shrugging at the universe. In sum: Tenfold isn't just a café; it's a microcosm of a city that thrives on difference. A place where everyone, no matter their background, finds caffeine, community, and a seat at the table.
