The inside of the restaurant is very small, 4 tables during COVID. We went in the winter time so due to our party size, there were 12 of us, we had to sit outside, which was rather cold. With that being said, the burgers were amazing, jalapeños were fresh and not canned and our waitress, did an excellent job coming out into the cold to check on us. read more

A great greasy spoon right by the beach. I though my pimento burger with jalapeños and bacon with fries for $10 was great. I recommend that you get a fun burger with different toppings like the pimento or the carolina with chili on top of the burger etc. Otherwise might as well get a burger from five guys. I love five guys and I would not have been able to distinguish between the two in a blind taste test. The fries are also pretty similar, come to think of it. Service is not particularly friendly but I think they are super busy and accustomed to dealing with a no-nonsense local crowd. Parking was crummy until we were told that there was an overflow parking lot (by a big blue building that was directly through the back of the parking lot. I think it might have been a mortgage company (we went for dinner so it would have been off hours for the business). You might want to call to confirm the parking lot situation because maybe it was only for a holiday weekend. read more

They have the best burgers on the beach, and you definitely try their wings too. It's great sitting outside that close to the beach enjoying a great meal. read more

What a great little place! The burgers are outstanding and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Outside seating let's you bring your dog, and the waitress made sure he had plenty of fresh water. Not a tourist trap, 7 of us ate for around $100, which was more than fair. read more

Ordered crab cake sandwiches, fries and onion rings which were all very good. Crab cake sandwich was different than usual with a Thai basil coconut taste, so if you're looking for something different in your crab cake this is it. Fries and onion had to be heated and toasted in the oven but that's because it's take out only at this point. read more

Had lunch here with the family. Food was excellent. I tried a burger and my wife had the tuna salad. We both loved our meal. It is a small place and you shouldn't come if you are in a hurry. Service was slow but worth it. Place was super busy. read more

Very solid local burger place - at the recommendations of my parents, I stopped by for a pimento cheese burger at lunch time, and was not disappointed. The burgers are thin, I'd call them kind of diner style, cooked on a flattop in plain view. They're tender with nice crispy outside, and a good amount of seasoning and good beef flavor - I'll take this over than normal half pound mega patty. Add to the the delicious cheese and bacon, and I'm all set. Fries are good - the sort of "dry style" that I like, although I think they could use a little more seasoning. And although I did not indulge, the beer list is pretty decent too - I think all cans/bottles, I didn't see any taps, but maybe I'm just forgetting. In any case, this goes on the list for future visits. The menu is actually surprisingly large for this soft of a place, so I want to try some of the other burger options, since that makes up the majority of the menu. read more

We came in for dinner after running the marathon. I wasn't super excited when I saw the menu was just sandwiches and burgers. I kind of wanted more of a meal meal. But the group picked and I went along. I am so glad I did! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a salad. Both were absolutely perfect and truly hit the spot. My son liked his burger so much that he ordered a second one and ate 2/3 of that one too!! Usually he leaves most of his meal behind so when he wants to eat something we let him have at it. So my picky 8 year old wants me to be sure and mention this is the best burger(s) he's ever had. Ever. I have to agree it was a top 10 burger for me too! Others had the table had wings and a Rueben and loved their food as well. We will definitely return! read more

Art's Place is a quirky, colorful dive in Kitty Hawk that attracts people from all over the Outer Banks. I had read so many reviews that Art's had the best burgers and a legendary hot dog, so of course I had to try both. Both didn't disappoint. The best burger and hot dog combo on the beach. And I still have to try the breakfast! read more

Best burgers on the beach. Brunch is fantastic! Great atmosphere and relaxed vibe! Reasonable prices especially on the island. Not great for huge parties but I've also never seen them put tables together for one, not to say they wouldn't. I did see them pull together an extra accessible table for someone in a wheelchair and that was awesome. Love this place. read more

Incredible burgers and Ruebens. Great owners and staff Downstairs, outback or the sway bar you'll get the authentic outer banks vibe. Great music and an ocean view read more

This place is awesome. We were so tired after an early fight from Chicago. We got lucky and found Art's Place. Best burger I have had in years and that is pretty much all that is on the menu. We will definitely be back on our next trip to OBX! read more

We highly recommend. Some of the best burgers I've had, and I have tried a lot of them. I had the pimento jalapeño burger and my wife had the Carolina burger. Our kids had mozzarella sticks which were also amazing. A top choice for OBX. read more

Amazing burgers and fresh cut fries. The servers are fast and very friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Even thought they were slammed, they got us seated in 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place whenever you are in OBX. A great stop read more

Stopped in for breakfast, we were seated right away very friendly staff. I had the south of border omelette but substituted for egg whites. It was so good! They really stuff the omelettes and not too cheesy! Great mimosas too! The view from up top is amazing too! Can't wait to go back during sunset and be on the deck for happy hour read more

Friendly staff, great burgers and drinks. Definitely a locals spot but tourists are welcomed with open arms. They get busy so don't be frustrated if there's a wait! Was a frequent flyer this summer. Can't wait until the next time. read more

If you ever go to The Foxfire Grill at Snowshoe Resort West Virginia, don't get the burger. Worst burger I've ever had. On the other hand Art's Place hands down is one of the best burgers I've had the pleasure of inhaling. Get the pimento cheese burger! You will not be disappointed! Onion rings are also two thumbs up! read more

I stopped at Arts Place today at 1:00 and sat up at outside bar up top. A gentlemen walked up to bar ordered a drink and then took of his ice pack that he was wearing under his t-shirt off and asked bar tender who he seem to know and asked her to put it on ice. She wraps it in a kitchen towel then puts it in the huge ice bin that she would be making drinks with!!!! That's a huge NO NO I assume she knew this guy well as he didn't pay his tab and kissed her good bye and said see ya later... GROSS read more

The burger hype is real! Very good food and overall fun atmosphere. There is a large multi-level outdoor seating area.

I like this place. The burgers are greasy though. A small place right across from the beach. The food we had was good but again, greasy

Very cool atmosphere, but the wait for our food was very long and food didn't meet our expectations. Obviously since we came during the dinner rush a wait is expected, however after an hour our party got impatient. We ordered our burgers medium, and they came out well done. Wait staff was friendly for the most part, but it's a very casual space. Live music in the backyard was nice. read more

I had the pimento burger and it was FANTASTIC. Melty goodness. The view on the upper patio was great, especially with the sea breeze coming in. Service is great too! Friendly and quick. My singular gripe with the place is the unholy number of flies hovering around the outdoor seating areas -- particularly the one right out front. Otherwise, great food and great service! read more

It was ok. French toast was just bread and it had no flavor. The pancakes were okay but I do not recommend this place. I would call it sorta dry and It also took a hour for the food to come out but maybe if you drop in for lunch it will be better?? anyway ty read more

Came here during the "off season" being October and had to wait over an hour for two burgers and some fries to be made.. I can understand if this was during the peak season for beach goers but it's not that packed here and most of the tables in the patio area are empty. Not to mention the fountain drinks are flat as can be. Also just watched a party of 10 get their order before my party of 2 and I was here 30mins before them! Pretty poor experience considering this was rated so high. read more

DAMN! The food here is delicious. We were here on spring break and tried several restaurants in the area...by far, the food at Art's place is the best. We had a half order of the French toast, scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit, the pancakes (which was such a huge serving could feed a small country), and the egg and cheese biscuit. EVERYTHING was amazing. This is certainly a local's place, but they treated us well even though we are tourists. read more

I had a quick lunch here on a Friday afternoon. I loved the atmosphere immediately - sort of divey and everyone was really friendly. I ordered the pimento burger - 8 oz of fresh beef grilled to perfection, grilled jalapeños, and melted pimento cheese with hand cut fries - all for $9.99! Try to freaking beat that! Top it off with $1.50 PBR's and you're looking at the best value and tastiest lunch in the OBX! Damn I wish there was a place like this around Annapolis! Then again, maybe not - I'd weigh 400 pounds! If you get to the OBX, do yourself a favor. Hit Art's Place for a meal. No photo because that burger looked so good, it never had a chance in front of me. read more

Art's is a dive sort of place, not a ton of seating inside, there were tables outside and the poor servers seemed to be running their butts off.. the food.. I ordered the special, popeye burger.. goat cheese, spinach, walnuts.. sounds insane but it was incredible.. the reason why I gave 4 instead of 5 are the fries.. they weren't fresh or hot.. but everything else was incredible. read more

I read about Art's Place before we arrived as I was doing Yelp research for bars I could walk to from my pad on the beach. We arrived into the area on Saturday which is what everyone does so traffic is fucked. We literally sat in traffic for 2 hours creeping 2 inches every 20 minutes. Heads up; if you are going to the OBX and you have a Saturday check in like the other 9 million people get across that bridge by 9 am on move in day... Anywho back to Art's. We get to this parking lot behind some random beach front store to meet other family members who have also been in stuck traffic..we were last to arrive and most of them were at the beach with their kids. We have 5 hours to wait to check into our house. Shoot me. It start to rain. Hard. Everyone is running off the beach as the thunder starts. Then I see Art's!!!!!!!!! I was like omg. My family members go to their cars, I go to Art's, duh. The bar has about 8 seats, and I did not love the small bar stools but this place is tiny man. First thing I notice; some dude is cooking some huge ass burgers on the grill right behind the bar/counter. The second thing I see; $1.50 PBR's. Long story short my family members get bored and crashed my Art's experience. All 18 of them, kids in tow. Grumpy, crying kids. In my bar. The staff was beyond patient with our group, I told her we would tip the shit out of her and we did. The burgers were the bomb. And cheap. And huge. I heart the OBX. read more

Went here for breakfast while on vacation due to the good reviews. Place was busy but not packed. The guy tending the tables was not very friendly at all and made us feel like we were an annoyance, yet he was yucking it up with what appeared to be locals having breakfast at the counter - assumed they were locals since he addressed several by name. We asked if there was seating on the outside deck and he dryly responded "I don't do service up there". Fair enough, but no need to respond like you're pissed and it was a stupid question. (note pictures others have posted of eating up there) We waited 10 minutes and finally got seated at the counter with no menus once a few chairs opened up, despite there being a table that sat empty the entire time that just needed to have a couple of plates cleared and the table wiped. We proceeded to sit for a couple minutes with no menus! We then noticed some menus over on the far wall so the wife went over and got some and then we proceeded to sit for a few more minutes still with no recognition from anyone. After a couple more minutes just sitting there we had enough so we got up and went elsewhere for breakfast. Tagline for the restaurant is "Locals welcome....tourists tolerated." Seems like "Just barely" should be added to end of that statement! We went down the street to Bob's Grill where "Eat and get the hell out" is their tagline but is actually a joke, and had much friendlier service and a delicious breakfast. read more

As Sally wrote back in July, this is the perfect breakfast spot and right across the street from on the beach with great prices. The Egg Sandwich is probably the best deal on the island. Large white bread(seemed like sour dough) and plenty of egg and cheese for less than $3. I had the 2 eggs with toast and home fries for less than $5. They have awful coffee but that is of no matter. Really, the food is perfect every time. The home fries are wonderful. If you are tired of expensive tourist traps, this is your spot. Not touristy at all. Plenty of locals which seals the deal for me. Art's Place is awesome. Kind of hate to give it such a good review because love the fact I got a seat each time I visited. read more
