The honey lavender latte is pleasantly tasteful with hints of herbs. Not overly sweet but just enough to enjoy slowly. The staff is a little dry. They need some customer service training as they're not very inviting or welcoming. I wouldn't return for that reason alone. It's unfortunate because I'd love to return to try other lattes.
Darling coffee shop that roast their own beans too! Large open seating area with creative seasonal menu along with the classic ! We got a chai coffee with a good hit of chai but on the sweet side and their season tea latte which I enjoyed more ! Worth a stop if you are in town!
Was driving in the area and really wanted a coffee nearby and stumbled on this spot. Walking inside the space is very cute and modern with high ceilings. Looking ahead at their menu I was set on trying their honey lavender latte but once I saw the "toffee butter cappuccino" on their menu I knew I had to try that instead, and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect cozy drink to have on a rainy day.
Before coming to Berkeley to for a day of co-working and café hopping with my bestie, I scoped out the diverse café scene. What drew my attention to this place was seeing the glowing reviews from a couple of my Yelp buddies. I was sold! This place was just as good as they said, maybe even better. The place is so spacious and inviting. I have nothing bad to say. Everything from the friendly staff to the delicious offerings is 5/5. I asked the barista if they recommended the almond croissant (my guilty pleasure) here, and they said it's fantastic, so I got one of those along with a warm cup of chai with oat milk. The croissant had a lot of filling, and the chai latte was very creamy and pleasantly sweet but not overbearing. An elite combo in my book.
Wasn't overly amazed by this coffee shop. My latte was good the croissant was alright. The service was great but it is more made for people who are trying to work on their laptops. Good amount of seating and I like the outdoor area it is convenient place to go if you are already on 4th street.
They discriminate against low income Californians by not accepting cash. Management - start carport cash, welcome low income people into your shop, stop discrimination against low income Californians and I'll delete this review. minus 4 stars for callous elitism. plus one star because it's a local, non corporate, cute shop with good coffee.
I came back for the nice work space. Food and drinks are still great. Overall, it's just a bit pricey. It's nice how everything is ready fast.
I got a single origin espresso (Chire from Ethiopia) and a cortado with oat milk. The espresso had a smooth texture and good layers that got sweeter as I sipped. I tasted mild acidity with fruity notes towards the end. A very well executed shot. And the presentation was a nice touch 5/5. Oat milk cortado was very well balanced. The espresso's layers and depth of flavors still came through. 5/5. Would definitely come back for espresso.
A cafe with a nice atmosphere in West Berkeley. It was very comfortable to spend time there and quite popular. The coffee and service were typical for a cafe. I recommend it!
such a cute cafe to study, catch up with friends, or even grab a cute drink and bite! i came with friends early morning when it was empty to snag a seat, and most tables were taken up by 9:30 am. they have a good variety of baked goods and drinks, and it isn't too pricey. drinks come out pretty fast, and staff were really helpful.
My friend and I got here in the morning just before noon. We were looking for a place to grab a quick drink on 4th Street and ended up here! Walking inside, you're immediately greeted by a large, spacious inside. It's bright with a lot of natural light. There are a lot of tables at the front of the cafe. As you make your way towards the register, there are different coffee products you can purchase to start making your own coffee at home. I ordered an iced 12 oz Vanilla Latte which is their medium-sized option. It had a really good vanilla profile that I feel is missing from other cafes' vanilla lattes. My friend got the Honey Lavender which was also really good. It wasn't too busy when we were here and we even had a table that we could sit at for a bit. I noticed that people had come here to study and I do agree that it makes for a great study environment. I would definitely recommend trying it out!
I feel like the staff was a bit rude. Almost like i was burdensome to serve. Made me feel awkward. The cold brew was not good. Though that's just my opinion. I think the biggest sin was paying $6 for a cup of cold brew coffee and received ice with a side of coffee. (Picture included) The decor was truly the only good part of my visit as well as the coffee being ready pretty quickly. (hence the two stars and not one). In the picture I've provided, I emptied the coffee into a different cup (the cup on the left) to display how much ice was used and how little coffee was given to me. I essentially paid for ice with a side of coffee.
This cafe has loads of space. It's quiet enough to do work or chat with friends. They have lots of merch. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable on their menu. The drinks arrived quick. I got the honey lavender. It wasn't too hot or too sweet. It quite good. I'd return again.
The Mint Foam Cold Brew was delicious, it was well balanced with a nice mint flavor that was pretty unique. Similar to a Mint Mojito from Philz. The cold brew wasn't overly bitter or anything, but I did add a tad bit of simple syrup that is available at the counter inside. I will say though, it is 7.50 for just a 12 ounce, but it is a good 12 oz. The staff is friendly and I got my drink in within like 3 minutes of ordering. It's pretty spacious inside with plenty of seating. There are also cute decorations along with coffee products available. They also carry various coffee beans for purchase. I think I am most intrigued by the seasonal drinks and during this visit, I saw it was a Salted Foam Cold Brew and a Mint Foam Cold Brew. I believe there is little menu board inside on the wall behind the counter that displays the seasonal drinks, but I wish they had one by the register. Was also hoping for seasonal lattes since those are my go-to drinks, but the best way to find out is just to go in person and ask the staff. Definitely check this place out! read more
Artis is easy to miss but missing it would be a mistake if you're a coffee lover! They provide great coffee roasts in an amazing ambiance where you can take cups to go or sit and enjoy your cup. With free wifi it makes a great spot to start your morning or check some emails. The cappuccino is always my go to and they have it perfected down to the latte art. Highly recommend checking them out if you're on 4th! read more
I've been here on several occasions and it only continues to get better and better. Their cold brew is absolutely incredible. Their service is helpful and very good. Their empanadas are also very well done! I think if there is an understated destination coffee spot to visit in Berkeley, this is it! Ambiance is perfect to study in also or have a nice conversation. read more
I think I've found my favorite local coffee shop to work at in Berkeley! My companion took us here for a remote day and all aspects made it the ideal working space. Industrial and minimalistic chic with the sound and smell of their fresh roasted coffee beans. Inside is quiet, spacious, and well-lit with tables for two and communal bar seating, plus seats outside. Most customers were working on their laptops like us, with free WiFi available and outlets. The baristas were all helpful and had our drinks out in a jiff. The menu is basic but well thought out and crafted. Traditional hot and cold coffee options, seasonal drinks, and a couple of teas. Housemade syrups and dairy alternatives are available. I don't care for coffee so had a Small Maple Spice Chai Latte with Oat Milk. I loved the creaminess, light sweetness, and prevalent spice of the chai. I'd come again to add their other housemade syrups to other drinks. Companion had a Drip and said it was smooth, well brewed, and not too bitter. Artís Coffee will be on my rotation for a place where I can study and work near my home. The clean open space, knowledgeable baristas, and quality drinks are great. There's metered parking and paid lots on Fourth Street but free parking in the surrounding neighborhood. read more

Omg the seasonal drinks are amazing!! We got both the basil latte and the jasmine citrus tonic with matcha and omg they're heavenly to taste and look at. The atmosphere is nice: quiet, open and airy. The staff are so patient and helped us pick which drinks. read more
Cute cafe in the 4th street area of Berkeley! Sunday afternoon there was plenty of parking about a block away (4th and Cedar or Virginia). The parking right in front of the cafe is metered. Such beautiful modern aesthetics. Lots of people camped out here working in their laptops. There's some indoor seating and a hightop bench on the front patio. I ordered a matcha latte. It came with cute coffee art (heart shaped milk poured). It was also filled to the very top. I had to take a sip before walking with it. The matcha latte was not very sweet. But it was good. They have seasonal drinks as well. Google listed them as having juice but they didn't have any when I went. I didn't try any of the pastries. But I saw they have a little section of pastries made by locals to benefit Ukraine. They also sell chocolate, bags of coffee, books, and brewing accessories. I'd come back if I were in the area. read more

A good sized cafe on fourth street. They serve coffee and some pastries and it's a nice cafe to do some work. There's also outdoor seating which is great for people watching when the sun is out. I was here on a weekend around 3pm and there were only 2(?) baristas. There was a line but the wait for the coffee was quick. read more

We didn't get to order drinks during our recent visit but we ordered donut, croissant with Nutella and mushroom empanada. Least we liked was the mushroom empanada. It was clean and simple. I loved the mochi donut. It's not the usual light and airy mochi donut; it's heavy and thick. The croissant is crunchy and buttery. So good! Place was clean. They had a sign 50% off on pastries but it turned out not until 5 pm (they should really not put it out until 5). Staff was nice. Parking can be challenging. read more
Really Enjoyed my honey lavender latte and purple mochi iced donut at Artis on a rainy day -- service was great and considering the number of people in front of me (6 or 7), did not take long for the order. It's a nice large space with lots of seating. There are also several tables outside which are covered by the roofline so you can still sit out there on a rainy day. I definitely plan to visit again next time I'm in the 4th street shopping area. The other bakery items looked really good as well. read more
A great place to journal, WFH, co-work or read. Shoutsout to the baristas who always play good music. I'm always holding up my phone to shazam whenever I'm in, lol. Big and open seating area, although plugs are a bit limited but has never been a big problem. My usual is their chai latte, and recently tried the rose petal matcha which was pretty yummy! Parking is sometimes tough since it's on 4th street and metered parking is a pain. Love that they carry pasties from local bakeries. One of my fav cafes in the area. read more
Visited Artis during the Fourth Street parade event. I was looking for an independent coffee shop within this beautiful shopping district, and this one had an interesting menu that made me want to drop in. Very spacious interior with many individuals having coffee meet-ups or doing work on their devices. The menu seems to rotate a few seasonal flavors. The coffees you receive are smaller than what you would traditionally receive at a Peet's or Sbux for the same price. My partner got the butter toffee cappuccino, and commented that the taste was subtle among the high quality bean but present, but the highlight was that the drink kept her awake throughout the night. I got a cold brew with the honey lavender syrup added - very tasty lavender flavor, but I had to add a splenda just to pull out the flavor more and get the sweetness to what I prefer. The staff were working very hard and quite friendly. Space is extremely clean and there is a single bathroom that carried a line when I arrived. I am curious to come back to try one of the delicious-looking piroshki in the window and see what the flavor rotation are. read more

I stopped at Artis to grab some coffee and work on my laptop for a bit. I loved the amount of tables available, and the cute interior aesthetic. I ordered the small hot mocha with oat milk. The latte art was a nice touch! However, the mocha tasted like dirt! Not sure if they used 100% cacao or 100% dark chocolate, but it was bitter and awful. I am a dark chocolate fan myself, however this lacked any semblance of a normal mocha. Not sure how the other lattes taste, but if you come here I would advise against getting their mocha. read more

Hi Ashley! I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy your mocha! We use a dark…
4+ located in the nice shopping area on Fourth Street in Berkeley, this place serves both as a nice place to fuel up on caffeine before exploring the area or as a place to lounge and study or do work. I kinda joked with my sister in law that if it were set in LA it would probably be people writing their script, but here it's prob a VC proposal or working on the next big app. When you walk in, you're greeted with a great looking space and delicious coffee smells. They have food items for sale as well, but we only one in there cause we wanted a little pick me up and something to hold while exploring the rest the street. The folks there are super nice and efficient as I could imagine this place being busy pretty much all day. I ended up getting a medium coffee and a bag of beans. Definitely a nice spot and would come back to grab coffee if I'm in the area. read more
Found on this place on yelp and was excited to try their sweet mint matcha latte! Walked in and found the place a bit dirty. The service was decent and the drink was outstanding. 4 stars only because of the sweet mint matcha latte. One of the rare best ones I have tried! The bathroom was super dirty and would not even flush! for a 12 oz, feel that it was overpriced! I would not spend $8 for a latte! read more

One of my favorite coworking/remote working spots when I used to be a UC Berkeley student & still a favorite whenever I visit Berkeley! I really enjoy the location in West Berkeley and how far away from campus it is. The big open minimalist space is a great working environment but not sure if it's the remaining result from the pandemic since I only started coming here afterward. It can be pretty crowded & hard to find a seat all day since people tend to stay and work a while. A good amount of indoor & outdoor seating with good Wi-Fi, some outlets, and a clean bathroom. They also sell a wide variety of coffee/tea accessories! I am not too knowledgeable about coffee but I do enjoy the flavored lattes as well as the seasonal drinks. I mainly go for the pierogis and can never leave without one or two. Always had a good time working here! read more
I've been here a few times and I enjoyed their drinks. Drinks are a bit pricey, but a great place to go and study! All the syrup used to make the drinks are made in house (for example the mint syrup was made by the employees using real mint leaf). The store is surprisingly very spacious for a coffee shop. There were a lot of seatings and item displayed for sale. The staffs were friendly and helpful. I would come back here again! read more

This place was a little hard to find, but I feel so lucky I stumbled across it on my way back to Southern CA. The real highlight of my visit was my cappuccino. My barista, Isabel, took the time to chat with me about the different coffee beans and brewing techniques, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I can't wait to head back for another cup! read more
While there's no shortage of unique coffee shops in Berkeley, I decided to try Artis coffee based on a recommendation from my parents. Located right in the heart of the bustling 4th Street neighborhood, Artis Coffee is an ideal pit stop while browsing the shops. The cafe feels clean and spacious with a minimalist design and natural light. They also sell other local goods, such as Dandelion chocolate, which is one of my favorite brands. When I visited on a Sunday afternoon, there was only a short line to order and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk, along with two other latte beverages. When I checked in through Yelp, I received a discount on my order. The latte was very smooth and creamy, and the espresso tasted rich and freshly-roasted. While Artis Coffee is not conveniently located near campus, I imagine it would be a great place to study or work on weekends. read more

Artis has been under a new ownership for the last couple of years, and they've really done a fantastic job of turning this café into a community place. It's a great place to just purchase and hang out, and drink great coffee. The barista always very friendly, and they make the best espresso with milk steamed to PERFECTION! I'm an artis fan! read more

Artis serves up an exceptional vanilla latte! It has just the right amount of sweetness that isn't too overpowering or artificial tasting. I think what makes it different is that they make their syrup in-house. Will be back soon for another vanilla latte! read more
Was in Berkeley off 4th street post lunch on a Saturday and I wanted to grab some coffee to get me through the rest of the day. Located in a busy area and there's street and neighboring parking. Super busy on a Saturday afternoon filled with people meeting up, studying, and both indoor and outdoor seating. They also sell coffee beans and some treats. I got a chai tea latte with oat milk and the chai was pretty good. My friend got a good brew as well and it wasn't bad. Not a bad local spot/cafe to meet up with people. Next time I'd probably try a latte. The workers were very friendly and efficient. Check in on Yelp while you're there for 10% off of your purchase. read more
Dining method: Dine-in (counter-serve) Speed: Not really fast (I waited about 10 minutes for a coffee) Item(s) ordered: iced cappuccino with almond milk The short answer: Artís is a beautiful place to get your morning (or afternoon, like I did) caffeinated beverage. Their house espresso is smooth, bright, and flavorful. I would recommend Artís as a fancy stop on your fancy walk through Berkeley. The long answer: It's a gorgeous place inside and though there was some waiting involved, it's a relaxing, aesthetically-pleasing place to spend your wait. I ordered an iced cap with almond milk. It did take a while to come out. Also, they told me it was almond milk though I watched them put oat milk in it (and it tasted like oat). It wasn't important to me, but for allergen reasons, this is good to note! Price-wise, they are pricier, but it's pretty typical for this upscale area. Would visit again! read more

This is a really cool spot to grab some coffee. I was with a bunch of people from out of town, walking through the neighborhood, and we decided on this place to take a quick caffeine break. The space itself is massive, with modern vibes and scattered seating. There was also some seating outside, with a great view for people watching. This is the type of place that will satisfy any coffee lover. In terms of the coffee, the vanilla latte was pretty much what you'd expect. The coffee seemed to be of high quality and had a solid taste. If you're looking for the classic coffee shop with tons of couches and work/study areas, this might not your spot, given it is pretty loud and busy. However, it does the job if you're looking for something on the go! read more

This is a really nice and spacious coffee spot! I came around noon on a Monday and it wasn't too crowded. Upon glancing at the menu, the one that immediately caught my eye was the cold brew milk tea. I've never seen or heard of something like that before, so I was super intrigued since I love both milk tea and cold brew. The drink is defaulted to come with oat milk which is great because it's what I'd prefer anyways. They also serve it with some orange peels on top, which later get mixed in. The drink itself was really good -- super smooth, not too bitter or sour, and the perfect level of sweetness. I'm not really sure where the milk tea part comes in though since I didn't taste it, but the drink was still good nonetheless. I'd come back to get some work done or just to try more of the menu! read more
