Tucked away this location sit by apartments. Parking is very limited which sucks but service and food made up for that . Staff really friendly and quick . Establishment was clean with plenty of seating inside and out. Has a variety of food and also serves alcohol . 100% recommend and will come back again when I'm in the area .
Came here for breakfast and it was so good! I love their avocado toast (Im a sucker for avocado toast) and I love the flavor profile. The iced chai tea was amazing - not too sweet but not too chai if that makes sense. I also got a scone to go and it was a great dessert to end the savory breakfast. Overall, i would love to come back here and reorder everything!
Not sure how I've never come across this spot before. I was in the area and looked up cafés and stumbled upon this place tucked away in Emeryville. The coffee is great quality, and there are so many options to choose from--both drinks and food. So far, I've really loved their iced white mocha. I also tried the chicken panini, which was really good and came with a small side salad--a nice surprise. There are so many items on the menu that I can't wait to come back and try more!
The latte is so good, they are having good customer service. The ambiance is so neutral, and clean. I'd recommend this place to everyone.
Service without a smile. I was greeted without a smile and she almost seemed like she didn't want to be there. I asked her if they did artistic lattes still and she said yes and offered a bear or cat and I said bear. It came out pretty cute (see pic). I ordered the taro latte and it was pretty good. I'd probably ask for it to be a tad sweeter next time and maybe double shot. I also got a chocolate fudge brownie. It ended up having a weird after taste. When I told the older lady about it, she asked what it tasted like (I said a bit metallic) and she said "well, we're using the same recipe". I said "Ok ... " well maybe it's gone bad somehow? It wasn't until after I turned around and threw it away that she offered to trade in another pastry. I came to do some work which required internet. I asked the younger lady for the password and she gave it to me. After 30 min, the internet stopped working. When I dropped off my mug, I told her the internet isn't working and she replied with "oh", then proceeded to check the register to make sure it's working but did nothing about fixing the internet. Service can be better.

Black Diamond Cafe is a hybrid cafe/eatery in a commercial space behind the Public Market. Parking on streets or in garbage close by. Many tables inside with several tables outside. Serviced within minutes. Food/drink came in minutes. Offerings: bagels, craft beers, sandwiches, pastries, wraps, pannins, salads, specials, wings, hot/cold drinks. Sips: columbia house brand coffee pourover (4.25) -straight black sans sugar. Semi-bold, slightly harsh. Arabica beans? Profile smoother after awhile. Bites: everything/whole wheat bagels (3.75) -sliced, no spread. Eating it later @home.,trying out new bagels. Commercial ones too sweet. -the whole wheat tasted better, both not too sweet 4 stars worth repeating when other options appear. Associates cordial, customer friendly. Can customize reasonable requests.

It was fruity, not too sweet, so I liked it since it does taste like a good balance between the bitter taste of tea and tropical fruit flavor. I saw the cafe also has outdoor seating.

Family run and very convenient with its own clean bathroom and outdoor seating. Been our go-to spot for study groups while in college and now for quick meet-ups.
If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive, comfy little mom and pop place to park yourself to get some work done for a few hours, this is the place to be. Not Michelin rated food but it doesn't need to be. Served my work-from-home needs for the day perfectly and I felt very comfortable. I'd come back on a work day again :)
I've passed by the cafe a few times but finally went in today - sure glad I did! A friend and I swing by did a quick coffee and bite while I charged my car at the public market Super chargers nearby. Parking is available on the street or nearby at the public market. There is indoor and outside seating. You pay at the counter and they give you a number, you collect your drinks at the counter but they deliver the food to your table when it's ready. The service was nice, fast and helpful. I got the challah French toast and an egg on the side, I was pleasantly surprised by the almonds and fruit on the plate - it all tasted great. My almond milk bb latte came with cute latte art which was also a nice surprise. My friend had a chagachino - these are apparently all the craze lately. She enjoyed it; tasted like a mocha! Available hot or cold. Definitely will be back soon to try a tea, I'm over due for some boba!

Stopped in once on a drive on a weekend. Nice selection of pastries that are not all the "usual" which I appreciated. The chocolate macaroon cookie was a nice size and so welcome. Yummy!

I'm giving 3 stars because this isn't a chain store coffee shop, but honestly we found their food to be awful. I ordered the turkey paninni and the bread tasted stale and just very hard. The turkey was some cheap weird tasting slices, and the salad had like cheap wishbone dressing on it. 1/5 horrible wouldn't order it again. The lemonade waa very bitter and sugary at the same time. I added a lot of water to it. The orange juice was bitter and watery. Overall at almost $30 it's definitely not worth it. I wanted to give this place 2 stars really. Ny coworker's Lemon bar was very stale and gross 1/5 stars. My coworker also didn't like the mocha and didn't finish it 3/5 stars. Parking is difficult to find, food was horrible, we won't be back since we didn't have a good experience. read more

I am in love - this was exactly the kind of cafe I was looking for! During the weekdays, Black Diamond is one of the rare cafe's that close around 9pm - what's more they serve breakfast sandwiches all day and some more hot food that is perfect for a quick dinner!! What really sets them apart besides all the great menu offerings and lenient hours, is the atomsphere and space's conduciveness to working/ studying. Wifi is a given, and there are plentiful outlets and tables available for everyone! Furthermore, the restrooms are very big and clean, which is always a plus :) I had the Taro Latte (yum) and Red Thai Chicken Curry (wolfed it down) which was just perfect for my evening where I wanted to get some work done. Only downside (to no one's fault) is that I don't live in this neighborhood lol. read more

There are lots of tables and chairs, and there is a creative seating area for students. It is made for one person only and the walls are created in a zigzag style, so they can sit and their back is against the wall. I ordered a latte, a sandwich, and a bagel sandwich. Overall, this is a great cafe for studying. They have outlets at almost every table, free wifi, and is open late. Decently clean. Plenty of seating. I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea and Thai Iced Tea. The That Iced Tea has a very strong flavor, which I like. They have their own version of boba, which isn't tapioca but has a similar flavor but different texture since it's agar boba. I like how they have milk tea drinks, since it's not very common among good study cafes. read more

I needed a quick fix of boba without fighting for parking... this was the nearest place. The tea tasted really refreshing and lychee added a nice hint of sugar. The cafe is really cute and I want to be able to come back on a weekend to eat breakfast. They also had a great brownie which I ate within less than 5 minutes. read more

Solid place and love how late it opens til. Staff is friendly and everything I've gotten from here has been great. I'm usually a sit-down breakfast kind of person but I'm always happy to get a scrambled egg & cheese croissant and an oat milk latte from BDC. Haven't tried their lunch/dinner foods but am down to give it a shot at some point. Keep up the good work! read more

In Emeryville, the absence of milk tea spots is a downside, but Black Diamond Cafe comes to the rescue! The lychee tea with lychee jelly was a needed refreshing drink after a sweaty walk from Bay Street. There is a large diverse menu which offers plenty of coffee and food options. I also ordered their Oolong Milk Tea and housemade boba- which is agar boba. The paninis hit the spot , but I'd like to try something else next time! I appreciate this little pocket of quiet away from the busy streets. It's almost easy to forget just blocks away is a bustling shopping center. It's an awesome place to work and study with unique individual seating. Beware of one thing, there are fat rats around this area! read more

I was out working early morning and stumbled across this cute little cafe and I was craving hot chocolate! I was greeted right away and was asked if I had ever been there before and I said no! The cashier/ barista said he has a surprise for me! I saw that they had lemon bars!!! I had to order myself one!! Once my hot chocolate was ready I was shock and soo amazed by the cute adorable design he made! Not to mention the lemon bar was sooo delicious as well!! [ OVERALL ] I'm happy I discovered this gem in Emeryville. It's a pleasant, well-run, unpretentious cafe. Staff is friendly and professional. There's a decent amount of space inside. Great for a coffee with a friend as well as working or studying. [ FOOD ] 1) Latte w/ sweetened almond milk: Tasty with very cute art! The art makes my day. It's not a large cup, but it tastes balanced and there are still two espresso shots inside. It's a pleasant drink and is my go-to. 2) Wings: Average-sized wings, maybe on the slightly-small side. The glaze is delicious though, as is the dipping sauce. I'm satisfied with this dish. 3) Thai salad + added chicken breast: The dressing is tasty. That said, it is a little thin, and I wish they provided a bit more dressing. It's yummy. There is an abundance of greens and crushed peanuts on top, which helps with fullness. The chicken came as shredded pieces of chicken breast. It was good and the cook was good - it wasn't dry at all. It worked well within the salad. A generous piece of bread is also provided. Overall, it was an enjoyable, filling salad and probably one of my go-tos. [ SERVICE ] Great staff! They're friendly and professional, and do a good job running the cafe. [ ENVIRONMENT AND AMBIENCE ] Chill, unpretentious ambiance. It can be a bit louder or quieter, depending on the patrons and the time of day. But it's generally a relaxed vibe, which makes it great to have a convo w/ a friend or work or study. Clever layout, where there are larger tables for groups, as well as smaller single/two-person tables nested in little corners. Although, I do have to vent - there are ALWAYS people having loud phone/video calls. To these people: please have common courtesy. Speak at a low volume, or take the call outside. Otherwise, everyone in the cafe is pretty much forced to hear a loud, one-sided conversation. [ PRICE ] Price is fair, can't complain. [ OTHER NOTES ] - The wi-fi code and bathroom code are both printed on the receipt. - It can get busy at the lunch hour, as employees from nearby businesses stop by. - There seems to be a good amount of outlets. - There's a guest parking lot right next to the cafe. read more
There's plenty of boba places in the East Bay, but none within walking distance of me ... or so I thought. It turns out little neighborhood cafe/bar Black Diamond Cafe not only offers a wide variety of delicious homemade baked goods, but it also offers tea with boba! Granted, I have to walk about 15 minutes to get to the boba, but it's worth it, and by the time I get it, I feel like I've earned it. I've passed by Black Diamond (which also has happy hour deals as part of its "bar" side) while on my regular commute but never thought much about it. From the outside, you can see they advertise beer and happy hour specials, but there is no mention of boba. I don't know if this is because it is a recent addition or what, but when they popped up on a delivery app and I happened to peruse their menu, I saw they offered passion fruit or lychee iced tea with either agar boba or lychee jelly. The selection is very limited (basically to those offerings, so don't go there expecting a full-on boba shop experience), but the tea is delicious and the boba more than satisfying. I tried a lychee tea with lychee jelly, which was flavorful but a little too sweet for my taste (I still drank it all), and a passion fruit tea with agar boba with which I fell in love. On another trip, I had the passion fruit tea with what I think was brown sugar boba - also excellent. There is limited outdoor seating but a much bigger indoor area and a small bar with a TV for watching sporting events. And then there are the baked goods! So incredibly fresh and tasty muffins, danishes, breads, etc. You can also get wraps and a Thai curry dish. I tried the breakfast wrap, which I thought was fresh and tasty but a little pricey for the size. But I get it, the restaurant biz is hard, and things cost a lot these days, so if I have to pay a little more, I'm happy to do so to help keep a local business in business, especially when that business is good and offers me a quick boba fix! read more

I' be had a gift card for this place since September, but haven't been able to make it here until recently. The cafe has had really limited hours, so try to call ahead if possible. We seemed to always crave cafe food on a Sunday, but this place would be closed haha. I was most interested in the chicken pesto panini ($10.75) and the chili with bagel chips ($7.50) on the side. Both items really hit the spot for me and almost nostalgically reminded me of Panera from the good old days. We chose pepper jack to be used in the chicken pesto panini, and I was surprised they didn't have mozzarella as an option. While portions of the bread were a bit soggier, it was overall a really solid panini with fresh ingredients. The chili was a small cup for the price, but I enjoyed the flavors. The bagel chips were also a nice addition to dip and enjoy on the side. Definitely stop by if you're in the Emeryville area and looking for some cafe food! read more

Found this little cafe while waiting for a soccer game to start. It's nestled in a cute little neighborhood of mostly apartments. Perfect place to come and have a coffee and chat with friends! Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a big variety of breakfast and lunch items and sweet things. They even have alcoholic beverages! On my visit I got an americano, lychee tea, and a berry cheesecake bar. Yum! read more

We've always been able to park either in front or on the side street. It is all parallel parking
