A very cute spot located in a great area! I was drawn to the Pandan Latte on the menu, so I decided to try it out. It took quite a while to order, but my drink came out fast. The Pandan Latte was okay - not something I would get again. It may have been thick due to getting oat milk with it, generally just tasted very milky. It was given in a boba cup, with sealed plastic on the top, so the straw I was given wasn't meant for the coffee, moreso for boba. A lot of seating inside! People were doing work or just hanging out and plus they seemed to have a lot of options on the menu.

After putting laundry in, it was time for a little treat -- so I walked over to Dek Doi for a bev. I ordered the black sesame latte, which came out quickly. There was no sesame flavor, just a spoonful of black sesame seeds. I wouldn't order this again.

New menu with coconut milk mixed with iced espresso. There's something amazing about their coffee. It's sweet yet fragrant and absolutely delicious. This is one of my favorite coffee shops on the Bay Area and I wish they would open up a shop in San Francisco. Amazing local coffee shop with cool employees.

While in Oakland, I was looking for a spot that I could tuck away into and have a great cup of coffee and get some work done. On Piedmont Ave. I was pretty familiar with the coffee spots I had to choose from, but Dek Doi Cafe came up on my Yelp with such great reviews, I decided to give something new a try. Such a cute spot ~ friendly staff, clean digs, and wow, what a fun/unique menu! What I learned is Dek Doi means "Mountain Kids" and is a Northern Thai cafe..hence the WiFi password! Leaning into their website, I also learned they source ingredients, inspiration, and love from the northern regions of Thailand including Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai was my favorite place to visit when my husband and I went on our honeymoon, filled with the kindest people and most beautiful terrain, community, and elephants! I ordered the Ube latte because I'm on an Ube kick right now and it was so creamy and delicious. The beans are one of the ingredients sourced from Chiang Mai. I was so impressed while traveling there with the coffee scene, each sip reminded me of really wonderful memories. The menu is filled with Thai classics and innovative options including beautiful toasts, Thai breakfast, homemade roti, pancakes, open faced sandwiches, and omg fried chicken. There were a few patrons ordering the fried chicken and it smelled SO good, beautiful presentation. I can't wait to come back and try more of the Thai classic options from both the food & bev menu. Love that there is a story here just waiting to be told :)

Dek Doi Cafe opened recently next to a floral shop. Infrastructure basically barren vanilla walls with large windows letting in natural light. Lotsa seating inside with 2 tables outside. Service quick & courteous at counter. Drink came quick. Eats within 10ish minutes. Offerings: drinks-tea latte, coffee, thai classics, milk tea, iced fruit tea. Bites-housemade roti, Thai dishes, waffle, pancake, toast, fried chicken burger Sips: flat white covfefe with oat milk (4.75) -lst time. Essentially latte without foam. -oat milk no extra charge. -unexpectedly yummy & flavorful. Oat milk made a difference as did the top quality of beans. Sad it wasn't Thai beans... Bites: Sai oua (thai sausage 8) -resembles Thai eatery version of extreme heat from chiles. Differs by having less sodium & subtler herbs/spices. Thai sausage tender, not ruff. -accompanying sticky rice was lettuce leafs, green onions & tomato bits. One can eat slices of sai oua with sticky rice or wrap a bit of everything inside a lettuce leaf. Either way is fun, deliz. 4.5 stars probable repeat to try more Thai bites. No meter enforcement on Sundays...

Fried chicken and roti - A hand holds a piece of fried chicken over a takeout container with fried food and a small cup of dipping sauce in the background.

This place just isn't worth it unfortunately. I got the roti with fried chicken and my wife got the roti with mango. The fried chicken literally seems like it's Tyson's frozen chicken tenders. They're pounded flat and heavily breaded. It was just terrible bottom tier chicken. It looked nothing like the old photos I saw, so I wonder if they downgraded the chicken or are under new ownership? The tables were also extremely rickety. I literally couldn't cut my chicken without spilling my wife's water so I scooted over to the bordering table to cut my chicken. Just not worth it, the worst chicken I've ever had with a chicken & waffle dish, bad tables.

So so good, can't wait to go back and try something else! Very cute cafe with lots of seating!

I was on a trip to visit my friends in Oakland, but I have a habit of not taking PTO ...but luckily, my friends knew all the spots to get some work done! WHAT I ORDERED: Kafe Yen (Thai Iced Coffee) THE COFFEE: I'm typically a Viet coffee kind of guy, so I was curious as to how Thai iced coffee would compare. I was pleasantly surprised! Definitely not as strong, but still creamy and lightly sweet, which was so perfect for a hot day. The coffee wasn't too bitter or anything, and the foam on top made it extra refreshing SERVICE: Friendly baristas! VIBES: Perfect for getting some work done! Here's my work-from-café checklist: * OUTLETS: Yes! * WIFI/INTERNET: Yes * VOLUME: Pretty quiet when I was there, but perhaps we went at a less-crowded time * SEATING AVAILABILITY: LOTS of it! Tons of large tables, perfect for working with friends. * WATER: There's a water dispenser for free water * BATHROOMS: Yes * LAPTOP FRIENDLINESS: No restrictions BOTTOM LINE: I always love supporting Asian-owned businesses wherever I travel, and I have a soft spot for coffee shops especially, so this definitely hit the mark.

Cha Yen (Thai Iced Tea)

Service Nom chompuu: tastes like bubblegum!!! personally not my favorite taste but they allow you to adjust sweetness. I may get less sweet next time lol I accidentally asked for more. Update: guy at counter asked me if I wanted to adjust sweetness after!! Love that! Cha Yen: yummmyyyyyyyy I love a spiced Thai tea 5/5 Looking forward to trying their other drinks (: Only downside is that they don't play any music in the store... it's very peaceful! But I like a bit of ambient music (:

Nice quiet cafe to get some work done. - A cafe interior with a wooden table in the foreground, seating area, and customers working on laptops near windows with natural light.

This spot is spacious and quiet! Like quieter than a library! Well, until they start up the blender. A perfect spot to get work done! A true gem! They have some great options for meals and caffeine! I love Thai Ice Tea, so I decided to try their Thai Iced Coffee. It's similarly sweetened like an Oakland Chill from Rise and Grind! So I love that I can hit another spot for deliciously sweet Ice Coffee! The staff are friendly. They are as mellow as the cafe. They aren't heavily staffed, so drinks and food come out as quickly as possible. But, when you are sitting in and working, it's quick enough... I felt relaxed in the spot. No rush. No hustle and bustle. I'll definitely stop here more often!

Cute cafe! I came here to do a little morning studying (wifi works perfectly fine and there are wall outlets). Warning, if you are sensitive to flowers there is a very cute glove shop right next door and some of the flowers are stored behind the cafe, so I really enjoyed the smell of the flowers but my friend had allergies so we left a little earlier. I enjoyed a Thai coffee. It's nothing like Thai tea, and honestly I don't know what's in it. I've heard that Thai coffee sometimes has spices like cardamom but I didn't taste it much in my cup. All I can say is it's good lol. It was slightly sweet, the way I like my coffee. It tasted a little bit more on the lighter side. I'd get it again! And maybe next time I'll ask what's in it lol. I also split a salmon open face "sandwich" and a creme brûlée toast with my friend. The sandwich was basically just toast, and it tasted good but wasn't very filling. Same for the crème brûlée. I think I liked the creme brûlée the most and would get that again. I'd love to try a dish plate next time. They also had pastries available.

Five stars!! I wish this cafe was closer to me. Street parking is easy to find and I loved how bright and spacious the inside is. They have a Thai inspired menu with various coffees, entrees, and desserts. We ordered the kaow niew sai oua (spicy thai sausage) and it was so delicious! The sausage had a great kick to it and I loved how it was served with sticky rice. We also ordered the matcha custard pancake and I loved how light and airy the pancakes were. The custard had a nice tanginess to it and I loved the side of concentrated matcha. We also ordered a Thai tea & a Kafe Yen (Thai iced coffee) and both were really solid. I do with the Kafe yen came a little bit sweeter though! I thought it would be on the same level of sweetness as the Thai tea. All four of our items were under $30 which is a steal nowadays! The staff were super duper kind and took their time to explain the difference in dishes to us. I can't wait to come back!

It comes unsweetened, so I asked for it to be sweetened and it was great after that. The vanilla matcha was fine too, just not my top pick. They're also dropping a new Ramadan drink soon, a date latte, which sounds really good and I'll probably come back just to try that. Overall, great drinks and a nice place to hang out.

I undetstand they are an acquired taste but me being Middle Eastern we have our own versions and I think that's why I didn't like as much. I would definitely go back and try more sweet pastries. They had a large selection I couldn't try them all haha. I would love to try more tea and coffee options as well. Go and try out several different pastries and discover what you like.
