The staff was kind but it felt understaffed for the time of day and we had a long wait for our coffee since the barista also had to work the register. I was hoping for a good cup of coffee and crème brûlée was good but we thought it would be hot. The black sesame was really disappointing! And I try to be lenient but I was expecting a black sesame paste and this was coarsely ground sesame on the bottom of my drink. Walked past this place after going to Tea on Piedmont and decided to visit one day. Finally had a chance and ordered their basil beef with rice and green curry with chicken. They were both underwhelming and reminded me of food I make at home. This may not seem bad, however when you spend $20+ on an entree, personally would want something more elevated. The sesame latte lacked sesame flavor and the lychee Thai tea was just lychee syrup and Thai tea only. Nothing special or unique. Spent $68 for two drink and two entrees. A very cute spot located in a great area! I was drawn to the Pandan Latte on the menu, so I decided to try it out. It took quite a while to order, but my drink came out fast. The Pandan Latte was okay - not something I would get again. It may have been thick due to getting oat milk with it, generally just tasted very milky. It was given in a boba cup, with sealed plastic on the top, so the straw I was given wasn't meant for the coffee, moreso for boba. A lot of seating inside! Highlight was the crab garlic noodle surprisingly. Very flavorful and they give a large portion with lots of crab meat and garlic. We did have to wait a while for the food order which was a little disappointing, even the roti took at least 20+ min to come out and we were the only ones that ordered food at the time. A lot of drink options though and I like the fusion concept. The pandan latte drink I got was just good but nothing outstanding. Not enough pandan flavor in my opinion and tasted more like coconut. I was in the area and saw that they had some drinks and I really wanted to try their pandan cream cheese thai tea. We got here and found parking around the corner about 1 block away (free parking). We came in and service was great, drinks are a bit more ranging between $7.50-8 on average. I got the drink I mentioned above the pandan cream cheese thai tea for $8 and my brother got the mango drink. Overall both were great, I love the little nook area in the back with the perfectly organized shelf. We were on our way to AYCE so we didn't eat anything there but I would love to go back and try it. Such a cute spot ~ friendly staff, clean digs, and wow, what a fun/unique menu! What I learned is Dek Doi means "Mountain Kids" and is a Northern Thai cafe..hence the WiFi password! Leaning into their website, I also learned they source ingredients, inspiration, and love from the northern regions of Thailand including Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai was my favorite place to visit when my husband and I went on our honeymoon, filled with the kindest people and most beautiful terrain, community, and elephants! I ordered the Ube latte because I'm on an Ube kick right now and it was so creamy and delicious. The beans are one of the ingredients sourced from Chiang Mai. I was so impressed while traveling there with the coffee scene, each sip reminded me of really wonderful memories. The menu is filled with Thai classics and innovative options including beautiful toasts, Thai breakfast, homemade roti, pancakes, open faced sandwiches, and omg fried chicken. Cute cafe! I came here to do a little morning studying (wifi works perfectly fine and there are wall outlets). Warning, if you are sensitive to flowers there is a very cute glove shop right next door and some of the flowers are stored behind the cafe, so I really enjoyed the smell of the flowers but my friend had allergies so we left a little earlier. I enjoyed a Thai coffee. It's nothing like Thai tea, and honestly I don't know what's in it. I've heard that Thai coffee sometimes has spices like cardamom but I didn't taste it much in my cup. All I can say is it's good lol. It was slightly sweet, the way I like my coffee. It tasted a little bit more on the lighter side. I'd get it again! And maybe next time I'll ask what's in it lol. I also split a salmon open face "sandwich" and a creme brûlée toast with my friend. The sandwich was basically just toast, and it tasted good but wasn't very filling. Same for the crème brûlée. Five stars!! I wish this cafe was closer to me. Street parking is easy to find and I loved how bright and spacious the inside is. They have a Thai inspired menu with various coffees, entrees, and desserts. We ordered the kaow niew sai oua (spicy thai sausage) and it was so delicious! The sausage had a great kick to it and I loved how it was served with sticky rice. We also ordered the matcha custard pancake and I loved how light and airy the pancakes were. The custard had a nice tanginess to it and I loved the side of concentrated matcha. We also ordered a Thai tea & a Kafe Yen (Thai iced coffee) and both were really solid. I do with the Kafe yen came a little bit sweeter though! I thought it would be on the same level of sweetness as the Thai tea. All four of our items were under $30 which is a steal nowadays! This laptop-dominated cafe is still a welcome addition to Piedmont Avenue even though a lot of customers appear to be surfing. That's because they provide good-size tables generously spaced apart. It's described as a Northern Thai cafe on their website, though other than the name and a few menu items like the homemade roti, I would've just assumed it was just a generic coffee hangout. I swung in after my haircut intending to get one of their coffee drinks. I only noticed later that their beans come from Thailand. Came in here first time. Looked nice from street and it had lots of seating a bathroom so we went in. Ordered the siracha popcorn chicken, it wasn't very good, it tasted like they lightly heated up some frozen chicken and then put a siracha sauce over it. It was kinda cold luke warm. Not hot. So it wasn't appealing. And my friend got a coconut water and matcha drink, she didn't drink it said it was too bitter and grainy. Won't be back based on our experience. I had a 2% latte, which was just a run-of-the-mill good latte. it's a small portion for the price. My big disappointment was the sugar n lemon butter pancakes. They just weren't up to par. But this is more of a café than a restaurant, so I guess that's the proper expectation. Overall, I'll give them three stars and I wouldn't hesitate to go back and try other items. I think I've found my new favorite cafe to work from! I stopped by on a Friday afternoon around 2:00 p.m. and the cafe was completely empty. There were plenty of seats and tables here, as well as an abundance of power outlets on the wall. To top it off, they also have fast free wifi, a clean bathroom without a confusing lock, and great coffee-house music playing in the background. I ordered a flat white to sip on while I worked and it was perfectly prepared and ready within minutes. Finding parking in the area is a bit of a pain (not to mention it is also paid parking), but if you don't mind circling around the block and few times, it's worth stopping by Dek Doi Cafe to get some coffee, get some work done, or grab a snack off their extensive food menu. The Kafe yen (Thai coffee) was nice and creamy - went perfectly with the chewy brown sugar boba. The chiang mai mocha frappe was decent with notes of coconut but not as good as the Kafe Yen. Roti is freshly made, making it both crispy and chewy. Like other reviews, the fried chicken sandwich looked stunning but was bland. The chicken wasn't seasoned and quite dry. The accompanying chips were very salty and the sweet cornichon pickles were confusing. Since it's a Thai spot, I was hoping the Kai krata would hit the mark but it again was missing flavor like a tomato/oyster sauce gravy and green onions to make the breakfast plate come together. The Thai sausage was yummy though. Extremely appreciate that it is indoor dog friendly to accommodate rainy day hangouts with our puppy and friends. Stopped by on a sunny weekend day for a caffeine fix. The cafe has a selection of drinks and foods with a Thai/Southeast Asian spin. We ordered at the front of the store with the cashier. I got the Kafe Yen (Thai Iced Coffee). It felt milky and mild, not as strong as a Vietnamese iced coffee at all. The store felt airy and spacious. We sat there for a good half hour enjoying our drinks. The bathroom was clean but the lock felt tricky to close. There's free water but the plastic cups felt sharp on the lips due to their shape. I don't know; just two things I noticed. I think this is a worthwhile stop for a quick drink or snack while being out and about in Oakland! read more

My boyfriend suggested trying their breakfast items. It's a cute shop with simple and clean aesthetic. We tried the Mango and Whipped Cream Pancake, Creme Brulee Toast and Chiang Mai Mocha Fappe. The presentation of each dish was very instagram-able. I loved the toast in the toast shaped dish and the pancake dish looked phenomenal. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, and the mangos were fresh. My favorite was the Creme Brulee Toast! It was warm, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Yum! The buttered bottom and the sweet creme brulee on top gave it a sweet and savory taste, which I loved! I thought the Mocha Frappe was decent but I would like try a different drink next time! First thing we noticed was that it was dog friendly, my wife and I had our dogs with us and we saw they had dogs sitting inside, so we sat inside. The menu has a lot of Southeast Asian influences. We ordered the coconnut corn roti, a mango pancake, a pineapple frappe and komquat tea. All of them turned out pretty good, and we'd recommend again. We ordered those dessert items because they sounded good on paper and that day it ended up being our lunch. Their staff had a mini display kitchen so you could seem them making the pancakes or roti and could tell they were fresh, some places resort to frozen roti as a cost saving measure but they definitely made it from scratch.
