I never leave reviews, good or bad. If there were negative stars, I would give that to ARS Manassas. 1. I have cameras in my house and when it seemed like the technician was taking a long time, I looked on my camera in the kitchen. The technician (right in front of the camera) picked up the bottles of medication on my counter and started looking at each bottle...then he stared looking through my cabinets. I called and requested a manager and didn't explain the incident to any of the employees because I know how rumors get around. I sent the clip to the manager. I received a sorry you had a bad experience basket of fruit. I proceeded to purchase an alarm system because the technician knew where I lived. I have the video clip. 2. The next incident I had dealt with my generator. I had it serviced. A few days later, it wasn't working at all so I contacted the service technician and he ordered parts. This was in October before my warranty was up. I called and asked about the parts and was told they were on order. I called again several weeks later, and "oh the parts should be here unless we put them on another generator." I called again and then around the five month, I was told the parts were in. Understand, the warranty with ARS was up and I received a $310.00. 3. I have a yearlong service agree with ARS, I needed a plumber to come out. "He will be there between 12 pm and 4 pm. I left work at 11 pm. At 4:05 pm, I called and asked if the plumber was going to be there. "Yes, he would be there and he would call me soon." No call and at 6:13 pm, 8:16 pm and each time I was told I would receive a call from the technician. During one call, I was told traffic was bad, which around here is understandable but I looked at the traffic app and all roads were green (plus there are several ways to my residence that don't run into any traffic. I understand things may happen during a service call but as a customer I do expect to be notified if you are going to be late. Calling is common courtesy. ARS expects me to be there when the technician arrives or they would leave. Nothing like feeling like a hostage in your own home. At 9:45 pm, I called and told them not to bother. I get up at 4 am every day and needed to go to sleep. I did request a call from a manager. Again, I had to call them to speak to a manager or customer service and I had to leave a message. This was Jun 1 and almost two weeks later and no call. I had a service appointment. I cancelled that and I am probably out the rest of my money I paid for year which was going ensure me of great service. I the long run it is probably worth the money I know loner have. Dupee Plumbing was out when they said they would be and called to let me know they were on the way. read more

These guys are horrible. They have been out 5-6 times to fix my AC and each time the repair doesn't last long and the next guy comes out and says it's a whole different problem. The most recent was to replace a circuit board on my compressor. They quoted $1,428 parts and labor. I asked how much the part was and the woman on the phone said she didn't know. I asked for a more detailed quote. She called back in 5 minutes and said part was $800 and the supervisor told her they would only charge for the part. I looked online and the most expensive board I saw was only $330. Clearly if they can cut the price that much in 5 minutes, the pricing is BS. The first guy who showed up had no idea what he was doing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Called early morning Friday, was promised a tech visit for A/C issue that day, "though it may be late." Called back in early evening to give them all my contact info again, this time operator said someone would definitely call before 10 p.m. Home with phone all day waiting with no A/C: No call, and no tech. Finally got call back 11 a.m. next day, operator claimed tech had stopped by on Friday, and that they had tried to call me three times. Right. read more

I've used these folks for an annual Spring and Fall inspection of my heating/cooling system since about 2013. I've renewed the contract every year because I was impressed with their performance. However, I will not renew my contract this year based on my recent experience with them. The fall inspection of my system occurred this week. This is a little late to need but I could have called them earlier and not waited for them to call me. I have come to understand that while their technician does a thorough review and surface cleaning of the system, the real intent of the service call is to try and generate more business by telling me all the "things you should do to care for the system." This time it was three services totalling $1375. Usually, the technician simply tells me what those are and the cost, I decline and initial the sheet and we get done. The young technician who arrived this week was overly animated and aggressive. He was determined to go into detail on what and why, and when I told him I was not interested for the fourth time, he told me I didn't need to be so hostile. I never raised my voice or did anything approaching "hostile" to this young man. He then tried to intimate a threat of carbon monoxide poisoning. (I have carbon monoxide monitors throughout my house). I finally asked him to get his equipment and leave my house and thanked him for his time. I will find a new vendor to perform my spring/fall system inspections, but it won't be one with such aggressive "generate more business" employees. read more

joe Michalski of ARS helped by making the best of a bad situation with a failed blower from a 1 year old Carrier system that completely replaced a failed 7 year old Carrier system. He was professional and got the job done quickly with the new part the next day. I am still quite dissatisfied that I should have had to pay ANYTHING but that is the type of company Carrier is. A system should last much longer that 7 years. Even the replaced system's blower still worked unlike my new system's blower. Bad news for Carrier and their customers. read more

They do not value their best customers. They installed a HVAC system, hot water heater, and humidifier...I also have a service contract that promises priority service. They bumped me from a PM that was planned for 4 weeks which cost me a vacation day to stay home and wait on them. I talked to two people including management and frankly they didn't care about my time and refused to come service my unit. read more

horrible service and a lot of lip service. I called while water was pouring out of my bedroom ceiling. Unfortunately it was 5:05pm. They said someone was on his way and it would be $250 extra because it was after hours. Fine, it is an emergency. They guy couldn't get there until 10:00pm! The leak had stopped and I said, cancel and come in the morning. The woman said he'd be there around 8am. I call around 8:45am. No one knew who I was, and said they did not have an order for me! After I flipped a little and explained my situation, they looked again and oh, yeah, you had an order yesterday! Duh! I was then told he is on his way. The dude did not show up until 11am! Come on!!! What the hell kind of service is that! So Frustrating! read more

Technician Alex K. did an outstanding job servicing our heating and air conditioning systems. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain all needed information about our systems. His efficiency was a nice surprise since techs from other companies we have had in the past seemed to be doing work but did not complete the job in an appropriate manner. All on all we are very satisfied with the services provided. read more

The technician that came to service my air conditioning unit seemed to miserable to be there. I could barely understand him because he mumbled everything and didn't take the time to explain anything. He then told me something was ruined and to repair it it would cost me $1650! I called another company to come look at my unit and they said nothing was wrong and did a way better check up/maintenance for free! I didn't have a good experience so I wouldn't recommend it, but maybe you'll get a different technician and things will be different/better. read more

About 3 weeks ago our air condition stopped working - right in the middle of the heatwave. It was a Saturday. I call ARS they give me appointment for the following Monday between 4 and 8 pm. Anyway, the technician showed up around 8:30. The technician first wanted to seen the inside unit. He opened the unit and start taking picture of inside the heat chamber. I told him we need cold air not heat. But all he was concerned with was to tell me how old the unit is and you need a new one. He spent all his time on things that were totally un-related to the problem he was supposed to resolve. Anyway after he was done with the inside unit he went to check the outside unit, I was with him all the time. When he checked the outside unit - there as no power. He checked the fuses and replaced one of the fuses and I saw the fans inside the unit moved a little. But he is telling me that the unit is burned and try to convince me that he was smelling the burning smell. During the time I went to write him a check, he had gone back and put in the bad fuse back in so the air condition remain disabled. I gave him the check and made appointment for the next day so someone from his company will come and give the estimate for a new HAVC system. The next morning wanted to try something before I meet with the sales person - I went to home depot and bought two new fuses for under $4 and when I replace them the air condition started to work and it is still working fine. read more

We have been customers of ARS for over 30 years. Obviously we think highly of their products and services. Team leader and technician Trey Swartz arrived on time and was courteous and very professional. The 39 dollar A/C system cleaning and check up was very reasonable. Recommend ARS to anyone in the area. read more

After using ARS for 20 years, we will never use their services for anything again. Their A/C technician finished a normal service visit and suddenly needed to "check the Freon". He said we needed 1.8 pounds at $180. Upon his departure a quick check on the internet indicated without a leak or problem (which was not indicated at all) systems do not need this type of recharge. Numerous sites confirmed this is basically fraud. This comes after quote for a new hot water heater where the first question was "is your current system broken". Of course, that doesn't matter unless you prey on those in distress. In the quote we also found the new HVAC system ARS installed in 2009 precluded the removal of the old hot water heater without cutting wood/dry wall. The quote was approximately $2000 with the wood work, Home Adviser estimated the job at 800-1000. read more

Do not call this company. Instead of offering reasonable prices to maintain your HVAC unit. They would rather have a sales person come out and try to quote you on a full new one. They want $1,000 to clean a blower motor in a unit. Call your trust worthy local companies who are honest. This company wants you to make payments on new equipment and buy a service agreement to get 10% off. Shame on Home Depot for teaming up with these overpriced swindlers. read more

No call, no show. Don't bother with them, they will disappear on you. I wish there was more to say, but they don't show up when you set up an appointment and they don't call to say why, so there's not much else to add. read more

I called ARS because the house I recently bought had a maintenance sticker on the unit from the previous owner. I figured if they were used for her, it'd be good for me...WRONG. My unit needed a compressor fan. The guy who came confirmed the diagnosis and had one in the truck. The problem was, he wanted $898 for it. I probably should have said no, but it's 90 degrees and I have a shut-in housemate who is stuck in the hot house. It took the guy 30 or 40 minutes to install it, but it ended up with wires sticking out of the grill held together with black tape. Not very professional. All in all, $1017 dollars for a fan that I could have bought on the internet for $100 to $150 and installed it myself. I did get a survey from the company and when I responded I was unhappy they said they'd see what they can do They are sending somebody out to take care of the wires sticking out of the grill. Time will tell on the price issue. I'm not pleased. read more

They simply lack the ability to fix the problem. ARS has been to my house five (5) times and I am writing this while waiting for the technician who left to come and "try again". We have been having a water problem with our AC. I would like to be able to tell you what it is, but they do not know. They told me to leave the water on my basement floor so that they could look at it. I have done that twice. I have paid them three times for things that have not fixed my problem. Do not waste time and money on this company. Call someone else! read more

Paid for routine service call on my AC unit. All I got for my money was that my unit was 20 yrs old, wasn't running as efficient as it should and needs to be replaced! Really! read more

Disappointed. Had a new system installed in March that worked great. Scheduled with them to try and come out and give me a quote on my other unit. Guy called 40 minutes into my time frame saying he had to go down to Culpepper at 4pm and had to cancel with me. Why was I getting cancelled? Why not the culpepper person? He said well I can come out tomorrow, well I had an appointment, and you just lost out on a 5-7k sale in addition, I will no longer being using ARS for any scheduled maint. If you cant be on time, then you lose my business. Sad thing is, I used to use ARS for everything, Attic Insulation and all HVAC needs, and used to give out referrals like crazy. Not anymore. Why cancel a customer who has given you over 10k of work, and multiple referrals. Absolutely ridicolous. ARS needs to get their priorities straight. Well ARS's good customer is now someone elses. Great job ARS! read more

This guys are terrible. As with others on this list, our builder used them for the HVAC and they did an awful job. It's been a little over a year and we're having several problems that appear to be related to the installation of the system and so are several of our neighbors. I wish there was a rating lower than one star, I would use it. read more

Stay away unless you want to be disrespected and given the third degree! I decided in 2015 not to renew my contract with ARS because they simply do not know what they are doing. I had to have another company out to fix my thermostat that the ARS tech had set incorrectly (after taking FIVE DAYS to fix my heat). So-2015 went without finding a new company for "maintenance". 2016- my 8 year old compressor breaks- had a company other than ARS look at it. The guy said "check your warranty". I did and it should have been covered. After talking to some nice, helpful employees over the phone, Jackie called Carrier for me and assured me I was covered as long as ARS did the work, even though it had not been checked in 2015. I said fine and she said she would send a technician over to assess the problem. Richard arrived within the last minute of the hour I was told (without a phone call), did not introduce himself and gave me the third degree about the warranty. He also said Jackie had no right to tell me I was covered and didn't work for them?? What the heck does that mean? I asked him to leave. I need a new compressor, not an attitude!! ARS will NEVER step foot on my property again (as long as I live there). I would rather pay another company lots of money to do it right and with a good attitude!!! (Sorry Jackie, whoever you work for...no warm fuzzy feeling here). read more

HVAC installers stole from us. They installed a smaller unit than what we paid for and caused major damage to my home from duct sweating. Our ceiling fell down! We signed a contract for 2 years no interest charges.- yet they only gave us one year. Instead of owning it they provided me with a report saying my home is not energy efficient. The only items in this report as to why my home was not energy efficient were the damages caused by the unit and 2 items they asked us to have done to try and fix the excessive water issues. This place is a complete joke. Save yourself a lot of frustration, time, and money and use someone else for HVAC needs. read more

I already had enough patience with them, they told me they were going to get a discount for the delay, but when this tech arrives, I was buying the sHire this company on a Friday to repair my ac unit the diagnosis was to replace the evaporator coil, they said they would wait until Monday or Tuesday that I would receive a call when the party had it and make the appointment, nobody called so I had to do myself, appointment was for Thursday and when the tech arrives, he tells me that the appointment was for something else, he apologized for the error and the lack of communication, said he was going to get compensation for what happened, and the appointment for Saturday between 8 and 10, it is 12 and they do not arrive and no warning, it is 1 o'clock in the afternoon and another tech appears, charging me the same and to sign him, I practically told him that I was not going to sign him nothingame thing so technically I told him to leave read more

Terrible business practices. They have the worst appt time periods (1-6), really? I took the day off work, and the guy never showed up. I will never do business with them again, and I suggest you don't either. read more

Terrible customer service and workmanship. This company was used to install the AC units in my new development of 100+ homes in NE DC. The AC in my new home died literally the day we moved in. Because we were covered under warranty, we called ARS. Despite the warranty they attempted to charge us for the work and tried to blame the problem on the AC unit and not their workmanship. Even though they did the installation work, our HOA recommends people call another company for AC services now. Steer clear of these guys unless you enjoy constantly having problems. read more

ARS installed the heating/AC units in our top to bottom remodel of our house in the Northern Virginia suburbs. They forgot to swap out the construction (on/off) thermostat for the specified programable unit in one of the two zones. Next, as winter heating season came along, we came to learn that they had failed to install either of the two humidifiers. After some back and forth with the builder, they finally came out to install those. And finally, the water supply line they installed for one of the humidifiers leaked into the hot water heater. Seeing water dripping out of the bottom of a six month old heater had us worried it had failed. We shut it down (cold showers for everyone!), called a reputable plumber, and he had to redo the heater cold water feed and water supply line to the humidifier. $250+ later, the system finally seems to be working. Anyone can screw up once, but three strikes and $250 later, you're out..... I wouldn't use them again. read more

Billy R. and Joe M. were the installers that came to my house today. They were incredibly nice, courteous, and very tolerant of 2 "very happy" labs. They laid down plastic on my carpet to prevent tracking in dirt. They explained the installation they were going to do and the adjustments that would needed. The work was professionally done, every clean, and the dogs very happy. I will always give my business to ARS. Their staff is exceptional. Thank you! read more

Our builder used ARS to install a new hvac system as part of a renovation to our home. I have had them out to my home at least 5 times to fix various things because they did such a horrible job on the installation - including not attaching the main duct to the unit and reversing the intake and exhaust! I would not recommend them to anyone! read more

Absolutely horrible customer service and most importantly, integrity. The tech guys will lie straight to your face to avoid working on your AC when they don't feel like it, perhaps because its under warranty and they don't get any money out of it. They claim it'll take a whole week to get "parts" to replace the vent control, which is, according to multiple HVAC techs I spoke with after, no operational AC servicing business will go without that part available in stocks. Not to mention that I had the pleasure to listen to the administrative gal make fun of the tech's last customer on the phone while he was working on the AC. This is way below standards for a respectful business, and it shows in their attitude. I would never use them if they didn't carry the builder's warranty. read more

Just finished winter check up with ARS Service Tech Joe Michalski. He is consistently prompt in arrival times, very polite and willing to provide explanations to any of my concerns. I always request Joe because he is familiar with where the systems are located and he makes sure he has the right filter on his truck. I truly trust his advice and appreciate how thorough he is in checking out both HVAC systems. I highly recommend ARS Manassas because everyone I have ever dealt with is very helpful and professional. read more

Evaporator Coil went out in my ac. their price was insane compared to three other quotes. I got it done for a $750 from a respectable company in Manassas. read more

ARS was supposed to come to my unit today. The technician called and said he was cancelling because he couldn't find parking. I live in a busy area where there is street parking and open garages but he was unwilling to wait to find parking so he elected to cancel. He said he did not care if we cancelled. I didn't ask, but I'm sure that he didn't care that I had to take off work to be at home for him to not show up. read more

ARS called me to schedule an examination of AC. But Kevin Payne was sent to check the plumbing. After he left, the faucet in our kitchen has much slower water stream. Considering the fact that Kevin left me a note telling me to fix water pressure, I believe he turned something off so that I have to pay them for a problem I did not have before. I would say never let an ARS tech into your home. They are the cause of your problem. read more

So it was A Friday night in Virginia during the worst cold snap we have had in years. . . AND our furnace had stopped working. I called ARS and they said they weren't sure they could get someone out there until the next day. . . but then said they would see what they could do. They called back saying one of their technicians agreed to come out that night. Godfrey our technician had actually been to our home before and is superb in his customer service skills. Godfrey made the problem understandable and really worked with us to remedy the problem quickly and with very little fuss. He went out of his way to make sure everything was working and safe before he left. Thank you to Godfrey and ARS for helping us with a situation that could have ended up costing us not only frozen pipes but also a frozen family. Horrible experience and customer service!! ARS technician mistakenly drilled a hole in our AC coil. They refuse to take ownership and resolve the issue. DO NOT CALL ARS IN MANASSAS, THEY ARE TERRIBLE AND WILL DEFINETLY RIP YOU OFF! They make up problems for your heating and air conditioner that don't really exist and then double charge you for the service. Also don't fall for the Maintenance agreement scam they have going. They promise you it covers everything until something goes wrong...then they charge you double the market rate for something that really isn't even bad. Expect them to make up problems with your system when there are NONE! CALL ANOTHER COMPANY, THIS ONE SUCKS! Also, don't expect very good response from their dispatcher. They will tell you a window of time to expect them and then they won't even bother to show up or even call you to let you know they won't show up. You will have to stay home and wait for hours each time they don't show up. AGAIN, RUN AWAY FROM ARS in Manassas, VA read more

I called ARS about a month ago. The guy that showed up was more of a salesman and not a technician. I have two units, one for the upstairs unit and one for the downstairs unit. When Alex from Russia arrived the upstairs unit was working although it needed freon. He checked the downstairs unit and said it had a bad capacitor. He changed the capacitor but then told me I had a bad fan or fan motor. He explained that maybe lightning had struck the fan. He removed the new capacitor and told me that there was no since in replacing the capacitor with the fan being inoperable. He lied. Shortly after he left my upstairs unit stopped working. I purchased a new capacitor and installed in my downstairs unit (after watching a YouTube video) and the fan and unit started right up. What a liar. read more

we have been completely unimpressed with ARS. They initially installed an inferior system (lower SEER than contracted for) then had to come and replace it after getting their GM involved. Am now researching alternative contractors. Run from these guys fast! read more
