ARS came to check our sewer line which they put in several years ago. We had had a sink hole and wondered if there was a problem with the line. The result: the line is fiine but they told us the old pipes coming from the house need to be replaced with a cost of $7,644. We called Applewood to get another opinion and learned that we do NOT need to replace any pipes which are fine. So that scam would have cost us over 7K. Thank you Applewood. read more

ARS Rescue Rooter is the biggest rip-off ever. They are completely overpriced. They charged nearly $800 just to replace the circuit breaker in a furnace. Upon our investigation it turns out the circuit board can be purchased for about $150, meaning they ripped us off with more than $600 in markup and "labor". It could hardly be described as real labor since the circuit board only requires a few screws and plugging in some cables. This is not the first time replacing the circuit board, the first time it was done by a much more courteous company who was also $400 cheaper for the same job. DO NOT ALLOW ARS RESCUE ROOTER TO RIP YOU OFF. They are a terrible business whose only goal is to make the maximum profit at the customers expense. read more

Please do not install any AC or Heat eqpt. I have had 4 units installed by them. They installed such an expensive thermostat that once the unit breaks down no one could fix it except ARS. My unit is broken 3 days ago and they will be sending a technician 5 days later to fix it. In other words you have to wait 8 days to get your AC fixed. It is a carrier unit. The kind of thermostat is there no other mechanic knows how to fix it and it is 90 degrees and they do not care to expedite. They are an extremely busy company who do not care about customers and service. read more

Like others have stated, the ONLY reason I gave them one star is that Yelp doesn't allow for a zero. Long story that I'll attempt to shorten....bought a house in Larkspur last year. As part of the pre-buy inspection, a sewer line inspection was done, showing an intact sewer line in overall good condition with the exception of a "belly", or sagging section under the road and prior to joining the city's line. The repair was requested of the seller, who agreed to have it repaired. ARS was contracted and the repair was made, with all the associated paperwork provided to the buyer (me) at closing. Fast forward one year and I'm mowing the yard and notice raw sewage spilling out of a sewer line clean out. Called the first plumbing company who could come out and after getting a snake stuck and a camera blocked, they assumed it was a broken line just past the clean-out. Dug down and instead of finding a broken or damaged pipe, they found NO pipe attached to a 45degree connection just past the clean-out. Curiously, the area of the missing pipe was at the edge of the property and directly in line with the previous belly repair. Puzzled, the new company dug toward the street looking for the continuation of the sewer line, finally finding it after almost ten feet. Keep in mind, I know there was an intact line prior to the ARS belly repair, and nothing had been dug in the yard or vicinity since that repair was made. The going theory was that during the belly repair under the street, the pipe had somehow been pulled by the excavator or by some other manner. ARS was called and told what was going on, that it would be very helpful if they sent someone out to examine what was going on while everything was open and exposed. I got a call from a supervisor named Mike who asked me to send him a couple of pictures. He never responded to multiple texts / calls the rest of the day. In fact nobody from the Denver ARS would respond /answer my calls for weeks, and until I called the corporate customer relations office. They now are giving me the complete run-around, claiming that they cannot find the post repair camera inspection that any reputable company would have done, and that all the individuals who did the work no longer work for the company. We are now preparing a lawsuit to recover the thousands of $ I paid to the second company to repair the gross negligence of ARS's repair. The company that did the repair, btw, Plumbline, was absolutely wonderful, prompt, considerate, accountable, and delivered unbelievable customer service. I would give them a twelve on a ten point scale. read more

I was approached by ARS at Home Depot (shame on you Home Depot!) and told them they could do an estimate but not to even waste my time if they couldn't get it done by a certain day. They assured me they could get an estimator out on Monday and so we set an appointment. I took time off from work and stayed home...and of course they no showed. When I called they said they didn't come because I had missed my confirmation phone call. When I insisted they hadn't called me...they insisted they did. I pulled my ATT phone records while I was on the phone with them...no phone call! But...they continued to insist that it was my fault because I didn't confirm their call (which didn't exist.) I even offered to send them copies of my ATT phone log...but they wanted nothing of it...they just wanted to insist that it was my fault!!!! The funny thing is that the last thing the manager I talked to said was "we would have had to cancel anyway because our boiler guy called in sick today." A "we are so sorry..." or any kind of apology and I would have logged it as someone making a mistake. I understand that people make mistakes and would have let it drop (and definitely would not have written a review.) Mistakes are ok. People make them. Arrogance and rudeness and blaming the customer are not ok. Companies that operate like that don't deserve your business! read more

Not really thrilled with overall service. Had weekend appt, was way overcharged but went ahead as we were in a bind. Techs machine spewed dark brown liquid on walls and tub in bathroom - before he even got snake down the drain. As soon as he broke through root clog, he was done. Did not do a second 'let's really clean this drain out' snake. At our request he left toilet open for camera scope next am. Second tech was courteous and put toilet back on but did not put any papers down. So now I get to disenfect the walls and tub plus scrub floor. ARS said this was very useful to them for future training. Not even an apology. Stay away from ARS!!! read more

I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate on replacing my main sewer line, the lady I spoke with said it would be a free estimate and a technician would be out Saturday between 8-10. Saturday morning around 9:30 someone called me and said they didn't have a technician and would reschedule it for Sunday between 8-10. Sunday morning someone called me and said it would be a $225 charge to have a camera scope of line, I said I was told I would have a free estimate he said they would have to charge me, worst experience I've ever had with a plumbing company. I decided to go with one of the three other free quotes I received from other willing companies. Definitely do not recommend! read more

Additional comments: I was initially excited and looking forward to work with ARS because they contacted me within 10 minutes of created the project within HomeAdvisor, and we scheduled an appointment. However, on the day of the appointment, after receiving the call to tell me that the technician was on the way, I received another call where I was told not only that the technician could not find parking and was a mile and a half away, but that it was doubtful that ARS could perform the work I needed anyway, without ever seeing the issue firsthand. When I asked the dispatcher for her name, she hung up. When the technician called (Michael), he also stated that he was a mile and half away, and wouldn't allow me to coordinate finding parking nearby. As I expressed my frustration, Michael hung up on me. If and when ARS refers to their "Exceptional Service Guarantee," I have to assume it really only begins after they've been paid, because I found their service to be rude at all times before then. read more

Never use this company. I called for an estimate of my current AC because the upper level of my tri-level home was never getting cool. During the estimate I found out both units we over 21 yrs old and needed to be replaced. I had planned on getting multiple estimates, but they seemed willing to lower the cost in order to get my business. I had a unit, AC and heater, installed on 4/21/20. They told me that once the install was completed it would be good to go. They were shockingly able to do the install same day which I was both surprised and excited about. During the install, the techs we completely unprofessional in appearance and behavior. Slamming doors, stomping through the house, unkempt, and bad attitudes. Several of the techs (there were 6 for some reason), were making snide comments about the install and us the customers. They were clearly unhappy about "having to work late", mind you the install took from 2:30 until 5:30 which really wasn't that late. Unbuttoned shirts, none of the 6 techs had PPE (masks, gloves, etc.) during the pandemic which was required by the Governor at this time, and just an unprofessional look. First lie, when the techs left they said they couldn't charge it because it was 72 degrees outside and would have to come back. (We were supposed to be good to go at the time of the install.) I called 4/26 and they said it wouldn't be until 4/29 which would have been fine, but they scheduled for 8 am they weren't going to be able to charge it under 72 degrees. So had to call again, and spoke with a woman who said she could squeeze us in from 5 to 7 4/29. I called the office at 6:30 and was told it was scheduled for 2 to 6 4/30. At this point I'm pissed. We have an 11-month-old in the home, we cannot use the AC and her room is in the upper 80s in the afternoon. Had I known we wouldn't be able to use the equipment after the install I would have waited for the install. They were able to get a tech out to us at 8:30 on 4/30. He told us a couple of things, 1. the AC was already charged and we could have been using it this whole time and 2. It only has to be 55 degrees outside to charge an AC unit. He tested everything, checked levels and said we were good to go. After using the unit for a few days over the course of the next week, we noticed the unit was running the same, if not longer than our old unit just to get down a couple of degrees. Also, the thermostat was not clicking on like it should. The temp in the home would be 75, and the AC was set to 71. Great, have to call again. Called on 5/6 to have someone come out, they scheduled it for the following day 5 to 7. Get a call when they're supposed to be coming out and they tell me the cannot make it and have to reschedule. (GAH!!!!) They come out Monday 5/11, rainy and cold, clearly they cannot test the equipment. The tech did look at the equipment and immediately said, this unit is way too small for your house. (2 ton, house is 1730 sq ft). Are you forking kidding me? We told the lady this when she sold us the unit. Now the tech is saying it's too small?!?! Tech said he would have dispatch call us to come out the following day when it was warmer. He came out 5/12, he tested the equipment (all fine). Now the issue is that there's not a 12 in clearance for the air intake on the main level because it's behind a couch. What the actual eff?? So he tells us to move the couch so that the intake gets more air and it should work fine. Um, if the air intake was the problem, then why did we have no problems with the heater? Tech said try it and give them a call if it won't work. WHATEVER, we move the couch out and give it at least 14 inches of clearance just to prove that's not the problem. That afternoon, AC set to 70 and it gets up to 72, and the AC clicks on. Just for fun we timed how long it would take. Meanwhile we're researching on Google and reaching out to other HVAC professionals on how large of and AC unit is needed for a 1730 sq ft home. Based on that information alone the estimates we received were a minimum of 3 ton. Check back into the AC, 3.5 hours to get the house down 2 degrees. How is that energy efficient? Then once it clicked off, less than 40 minutes later it's up to 71 again and the AC clicks on. Okay. Something is definitely wrong. Fed up I call the number of "Joe" who is a Program Manager on the Home Depot side. I explained the situation, and he assured me someone would be calling me to resolve the issue. By Thursday morning, I had received no word. I called the main number, and a woman gave me the Service department number. Called over there, after 6 minutes of ringing the phone disconnected. Called back and someone answered right away. Explained, again, she said she would see when the tech could come back out and placed me on hold. She came back on the line and said she would have to call me back in a couple of hours. Now I'm writing this and seriously considering having the whole damn thing replaced by another company read more

NO ACCOUNTABILITY, NEVER SHOWED UP. I scheduled service for the next day on Saturday. I was happy to find out an appointment was available between 12-4 for the next day, as we had no hot water. I waited all afternoon and when no-one had arrived by 3:45pm I called them. The woman who answered said the repair person was just finishing up a repair in the area and would be to my house in about 1/2 hour. But she also said that my appointment had been originally scheduled from 2-6, not the 12-4 I had been told and verified. OK, I could wait half an hour more, as my day had already been spent waiting for the ARS technician. When no-one came by 5:30pm I called again, then was put on hold for 15 minutes while the call center attendant spoke to the local dispatcher and tried to see when the tech was coming. Then, to my dismay, I was told I had never had an appointment, but they would send another person who would be dispatched from Aurora/Denver and would be here in over an hour--making it past 7pm. NOT OK!!! At this point, even though Id waited all day, I told them to forget it, spent another night without hot water, then called another company who came out first thing in the morning. I will never use ARS again. Absolutely terrible, with remote call center, no accountability and not showing up, to say nothing of telling me a specific person would be there, then hours later saying had no appointment. read more

Horrible, I repeat, horrible service. They gave me an initial "window" of 10 am to noon and said a tech would give a "convenience call" prior to showing up. Well, no call came and when I called back at noon the dispatcher informed me that they had some pressing emergencies arise and they were running a couple hours behind. She said they'd be there between 2 and 4. And my sewage filled shower isn't an emergency?! So I waited around another 3.5 hours and received another call saying the techs were again running behind and it would be after 4 but they would for sure show up. Well, I called back at 4:45 and told them to not bother. Bottom line, if you've got nothing better to do than sit around all day waiting and you're having an "emergency" (however they define emergency), then call ARS. Or better yet, call someone else and you might get the problem taken care of. read more

When we asked if he could show us what the problem was, he refused to show us. Totally CROOKS!!! Maybe they are just too busy this time of year to honor any new commitments but should be honest and upfront about it. I called to have my kitchen sink cleaned out the representative I think her name was Tasha would not confirm pricing when I told her I seen that the charge was $88.00 on line she said well than book it online if you seen it for that price. When I said no way, he quoted $290.00 for same job. I asked him to leave. Stay away from ARS! I purchased the year of Furnace checkups and had ARS do two inspections. The first time the rep, Nathan, never opened the coil housing on the furnace and told me I needed to have the coil cleaned for $1300. I got a second opinion from a reputable company who opened the furnace up and showed me a very clean coil. A year later ARS sent the same rep who complained that I watched him work, but again, never opened the coil housing. This time he told me there was a crack in the heat exchange and I needed to shut down the furnace and replace it immediately. Again, for the second opinion I turned to the other company. They sent a certified technician who opened the furnace and showed me that the "crack" the ARS rep showed me was actually just a mark he had made with the inspection instrument. There were clearly no cracks and no need to buy a new furnace. That's a pattern of fraudulent behavior. read more

Nathan took the time to solve the problem and educate us on all the things we can do on a semi annual and annual basis to make sure our system is running properly. If I could give negative stars, I would. We had a basement drain back up and called ARS because they promised to be there that evening. They gave me a 8-11 PM window. They never showed up. I went to bed at 11:30 with the backed up drain sitting there. I took off of work the next day for their reschedule. When the van pulled up, the tech got out shaking his head. He asked how old the home was (1963) and told me "this is probably going to be expensive". He hadn't even looked at anything yet. He stuck a camera down the drain, which somewhat unclogged it. Then he quoted me $7500 to dig out and replace the main line under my concrete. He told me he wouldn't be surprised if I was backed up again by that evening. I wouldn't have been surprised either, as he didn't even snake the line! I told him I wanted to get a second opinion before forking over $7500. He tried to talk me out of that. Charged me $323. I called another plumber in (Southside Plumbing) and they told me ARS was full of it. They snaked the line and recommended just waiting six months to see if it backed up again. If I did need to replace the line, they recommended just bypassing the existing one and running a secondary line. Quote: $500. I called ARS and asked for a refund. They said they would take care of it. No dice, it has been nine days and no refund yet. Stay far, far away from ARS. It's a racket. read more

He explain everything so I understood each furnace. Decided on the furnance and it was put in right away which was a great surprise. Than Bob called later to tell me he was on his way. i went ahead and allowed him to come over. He was suppose to give me a estimate on installing central air, he couldn't figure out how to install it, and didn't give me an estimate at all, he didn't talk about price at all. I 'm a Denver homeowner seriously interested in what the costs will be to heat my basement room with a Ductless System. ARS made an appointment for today at 9 am, and their office called at 8:30 to state that they are backed up, but we can be out around noon...No problem. At 11:30 Liz at ARS called and stated that she wasn't coming out unless I feel comfortable with a starting price of $6500. I told Liz that she has no idea about the size of the area I am interested in heating, which is located in my basement (reason for coming out to view my needs). Liz states that it's not worth the time to come out unless the homeowner understands where the price is going to start... Too me, it seemed like a funny way to do business that I should assume that my project is starting at $6500, when I only need one or maybe two areas heated (price for ME heat unit is $600, plus $1200 for ME Pump, plus the install). If this company could get half of a star i would give it! I am up in Fort Collins and had an emergency situation where my system needed rooting. I was referred to this company by someone so i gave them a call. They gave me a 3 hour time window to come on a Friday night. They were running a special so it was cheap and i decided to go with it. The time slot was between 5-8pm. They are supposed to call you when you are 30 minutes out. I got a call at 6:30 from the office for them to tell me they "weren't going to make it". 1st fail. Obviously I was frustrated i decided to go with them rescheduling for the next morning. I tried to ask the lady, Brittany was her name, if i could get a discount. She said no, the service was already discounted. The ONLY reason i decided to continue to go with this service was because they were cheap and they could come first thing in the morning. I set up my service for 10-noon. I got another call Saturday that the tech that was coming was running behind and he wouldn't be at my house until sometime after 1 pm. I told them i had a wedding at 1:30 and that would not work for me. 2nd fail. They said they could try and look at Sunday. I know you think i'm a crazy person but the reality is that I was gone the rest of the day so i wouldn't have been able to get another company to come anyways. Day 3, It is now Sunday, today, and they are suppose to come between 8-10. I get a call at 8:17 saying they are on there way. 9:30 rolls around 10 o'clock rolls around 10:30 comes - no technician. I called them and they said they would try and get ahold of the tech and call me back. They didn't call me back. So i called them. They said let me put you on a brief hold and we will try and contact him again. We got disconnected, they did not call me back. I called a THIRD TIME and the lady put me on hold to try and contact him. He was apparently, "5 minutes away". Around 11:30, this dude showed up... The only reason they get half of a star is because the service special they were running was $88 and i was able to negotiate a %10 discount. Of course they gave me a quote to redo my who system for $13k. These people are rude, incompetent, do not care about customers, greedy, money hungry and crooks. I don't know how they sleep at night and feel okay about being a human being. It just isn't right. If they would have paid me money for the time and hassle, i would consider feeling different. I could not wash my clothes, do my dishes, run my dishwasher, or take a shower all weekend at my house. Extremely disappointed is the beginning of how i feel about this company. Last fall, I had to replace the furnace that was original to the house I own. After receiving the usual 3 bids, I selected Home Depot's quote. They outsourced the work to ARS/Rescue Rooter. The salesperson, Bob, was very knowledgeable and quite responsive all the way up to the purchase. The furnace was installed on time by professional service people who were very responsive, polite and efficient. At that point, it was 5-star service. Then, things started to move downhill. There were rebates attached to the purchase and, to redeem them, I had to go through ARS. Also, in order to get the furnace inspected, ARS had to make the arrangements. The experience was, at best, a cluster and is still ongoing since November, 2015. It took months to arrange the inspection and, even then, the arrangements were not as requested. I received the Xcel rebate but am still waiting for the manufacturer's rebate. As I understand it, there was turnover in this position and a number of items were neglected in the transition. In February, I was told that ARS would cover the rebate. Today, I got a check number and was informed that the request had been forwarded to corporate. Still waiting........ read more

They rescheduled 4 days in a row before I finally cancelled the appointment and went with another company who actually showed up that same day and did great work (Twin Peaks out of Longmont). read more

I called them because my main sewer line was backing up in the basement. The technician and another man who came with him unclogged the line in less than an 1 hour. Good news there. Then the technician tells me I've got big problems because the sewer pipe has separated (he saw this with his camera). He can fix it for $8,000. Didn't give me a DVD or other evidence showing the separation in the sewer line. Then proceeded to charge me $356 even though there was discount pricing for work over $200 and a senior discount as well. The technician was way more interested in getting me to sign-up for the $8000 job than asking if I was aware of their current discounts. I guess it is my fault for not doing research on-line, but the sewer was backing up and I needed help fast. Don't call this company. From what I have read here, there are many other plumbers who charge less and don't push expensive repairs. To their credit, a service representative did call me, but I was driving through Glenwood Canyon and lost all cell phone coverage before I could tell her my grievances. read more

Called Rescue rooter in April after finding my main line was backed up. ( it happens every year due to tree roots)They came out and snacked the line with smallest unit ever used to snake my drain. At the time it seemed to be cleaned out. However 31 days later (one day out of the shortest warranty out there) it backed up again so I called them back out. The same technician came out and re ran the line, this time did not work his unit could not reach the end of my line. So 1st they wanted to charge me to go farther Ha! they sent out another technician with a camera and he found roots in my line (shocker) said they could not help me clear them and then proceeded to tell me I needed a brand new line at the cost of $10,500. Called my reliable Company that had done a great job before they came right out cleared the line and Laughed at what Rescue rooter said. lesson Learned don't go cheap and NEVER use ARS Rescue Rooter. read more

Had a previous dealing with them (HVAC), and decided to call them for a plumbing issue, since they had a shorter wait time. "Reagan" went to the rental where we thought the main line needed to be snaked. We have this done every 18 months or so. He tested the sewer lines, and determined it was just the kitchen/laundry line, not the main. He called and said he pulled out some roots, food and tissue. Recommended a chemical solution for $29, to be used monthly. I agreed to that. He calls back an hour later, says there's a problem, and he needs to put a camera down the line. He said there was no charge for the camera, but if he didn't do it, he couldn't fix the problem, and there would be no charge for the call. He said he needed to see what was going on down there, and give us a more permanent solution. He called my husband, and used the same phrase "more permanent solution". My husband requested he leave the premises, and he did. The tenant said there were just a few roots on the basement floor, and that was all. We called our regular go-to company, Landgraf, since it was no longer a matter of urgency. Joe came out the following day, cleared the line, told the tenant he hoped we hadn't paid the other company (ARS/Rescue Rooter) anything because nothing was done, and went on his way in under an hour. We don't know what this "more permanent solutions" was, but I'm sure it involved plenty of $$$$ and no sense. read more

I had a good experience the first time I used ARS/RR so I called them again to look at my furnace flue piping before I sold my home. The tech that came out was very rude and disrespectful to me, and wouldn't provide any useful information...only said "this will be a minimum $500 to have a crew come out to fix this." This was extremely UNhelpful and ended up costing me more money in my inspection resolution (credit back to buyers), as I couldn't get a reliable read on what actually needed to be done, if anything, or how much that might actually cost. I called the main office to let them know what happened, as I work in the same industry and would want to know when one of my employees was representing my company in such a negative manner, and was promised a call back from the tech and/or a manager to explain...I never heard back from anyone. Do not use ARS. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and rude. They cancelled on me twice less than 30 minutes before appointment time. I took the afternoon off of work both times and they couldn't even provide me with a valid reason. read more

Called for a backed up kitchen sink to be cleaned out. Online price of $88 for first time customers. Tech arrived on-time and then the up-selling began. I was advised I needed to replace the whole line, and to put a solvent down the drain at $79 bucks a gallon. Didn't even bother for quote on replacing the line, but did find out the $88 was going to be $356. Can't speak to the quality of work, as they were asked to leave. I have given them the benefit of the doubt several times only to be frustrated and disappointed over and over again. I will not and cannot continue using them. They give you a time frame in which they will be out and then they show up late; not a few minutes late, but an hour late. (this happened twice). Their dispatch/admin team are rude and condescending. The actual repair employees are not communicating with the dispatch team so there is a disconnect in the information that should be relayed about the property. All in all, they are inefficient and unpleasant to work with. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with!! They have now missed two scheduled appointments. I had an appointment for last weekend they called and asked to reschedule. I said ok to reschedule for today for a 12-2. 2:45 no one shows up. I call and they tell me they can't show up today. Forget it I will call someone else. If you are looking for HVAC work your better off doing it yourself than calling these clowns. read more

Waaay overpriced. Tried to charge $850.00 to take apart two heating ducts to access the broken pipe. It took me 15 minutes to do myself.
