Another great job finished today by Arnold Electrical. Tony took down my ceiling fan and installed my new fan and a wall control switch. I'm sure that the many jobs I've had Arnold do are small on their scale of work but each one of the electricians that have been to my home take such great care to make sure that ceiling mounts are perfectly flush, shades are put on correctly and that I have the proper light bulbs. I always feel that no job is too small for them. A couple of years ago they even figured out what kind of light I could use to replace a very very old front porch light that also was in a very very odd location. After Tony was finished today he explained how the wall controller worked, had me check the work to make sure I was satisfied and made sure that the room he was working in was left in good order. Arnold Electric was excellent during my initial call as Mary collected all my information and even did a quick check to make sure I tried the very basic troubleshooting that could have solved my problem. I received lots of communication about when my appointment would be, and the electrician showed up when he was supposed to. Nick Mass was very friendly and professional, checking over my problem and looking for other potential issues, even alerting me to areas where my home wasn't up to code. The fix was relatively painless and fast, even if the cost was higher than I might want. (How are you supposed to price-shop electricians, anyway?) Arnold will charge you $89 just to come to your home and diagnose the problem, but if you use them, the $89 gets "waived" and you just pay for the work. I feel confident that Nick solved my issue and my experience was pleasant enough that I'd likely use Arnold Electric again. read more

I really wanted to like these guys. But the whole house surge protector they charged me $588 for was a part that sells at Home Depot for $94. I didn't intend to get a whole house surge protection, it was an upsell from the estimator, who specified it came with a $20,000 warranty. Paying $490 for the installation of a $94 GE surge protector sucks. Oh and it turns out it actually has a $15,000, 3-year warranty. Yes, I talked directly to them and explained the situation. They said it is what it is. Buyer beware, as always. For what it's worth, the dedicated sump pump outlet they installed is fine. Just wish I'd only bought that. Live and learn, once again. Hoping someone reads this and doesn't have to learn the hard way. read more

I appreciated that once John saw I only needed a few things he immediately contacted Eric who agreed to come that same day. Eric took the time to explain what he did and what else he observed with my old house (old electric!). Eric took the time to make some recommendations for the future. The company was very responsive and both John and Eric were very polite, personable and knowledgeable! I did not know this, but if you are doing your kitchen on your own and not through an expensive designer, they will look at your kitchen plan and suggest where to put the lighting. My wife and I bought a new house and Arnold's inspection revealed a number of pressing issues (including a severely corroded breaker box). They provided excellent, timely service and unilaterally saved us nearly $1,000 from the estimate by making adjustments on the fly. They also fixed a bunch of little things that were annoying me and put in a dedicated circuit for a couple of full-size video games (so I guess it's now my wife's turn to be annoyed). We appreciated his willingness to keep both himself and us safe during these times. He figured out the problem and made it work. I heard such great things about this company, but as someone who has been burned before, I was skeptical of the good reviews. Finally there was an electrical issue I could not ignore (smoking and burning smells are terrifying!). Derek Hilgenberg came out and did a thorough inspection, fixed the immediate issues, and then helped me come up with a plan that I would find amenable. Then his son, Brady, and Sam Lee came out and did a beautiful job. At every point I was shown what needed to be fixed, the importance and the different options were explained, and the work was completed in a timely way. I didn't feel like I was being cornered or hounded by a greasy villain salesman or upcharged. Furthermore, they were so considerate of the property. They wore shoe covers and when they noticed I was wearing a mask in a time where people are convinced that Covid-19 is not a threat, they immediately put theirs on. I think it's even in my file that work done at my property should be done wearing proper face coverings. That alone showed me how careful and detailed and respectful this service would be--that alone speaks volumes about what I could expect, and though they just finished the work today and I am still cynical (I'm a bit of a bad penny), I'm comfortable saying I will use their services in the future. read more

A little disappointed... It seems most like a miscommunication between their sales and technical people, but I called to have have a chimney fan wired which I was told was a service they performed by sales team on the phone. Their field guy (whom was nice) said they did not do that work. I was aware there was a dispatch fee that would be credited toward work performed, but I was surprised that I had to pay the dispatch fee for a ~15 minute visit just to tell me they would not perform the work. I don't even have anything to apply the dispatch fee to... I would have not had them out if the sales team had told me they wouldn't perform the work! read more
