We were very impressed with CM Electric. They were able to schedule a tech to come out quickly, and he was very nice and friendly. He was thorough with his inspection and work and follow up was amazing. It would figure when he showed up we couldn't replicate the issue, but he came back later that day when the issue happened again. We were in need of getting a breaker box replacement after finding out we had a Federal Pacific breaker box which apparently was a defunct company which should have been recalled in the 70s/80s but instead the company apparently shut down - come to find out from a realty agent, these breaker boxes are known to catch on fire! With that, we wanted this fixed ASAP, even if it's lasted 40 years, after reading about it, it's not worth the risk - so we asked around for a few quotes - CM Electric responded to us quickly and gave a decent price for what a job like that would potentially be. We were first introduced to CM Electric through our home warranty insurance. The electrician and his apprentice were very helpful and spent a good deal of time explaining and showing me what needed to be addressed and updated, and what did not, and why. Despite only owning the house for a week, we decided to get a quote to upgrade our service and do the rewiring needed now, rather than later. We got the quote. I called to confirm the quote, the work and our address with the owner as well as get a date for the work to start. He then had someone else call me back to confirm our address, email address and phone numbers. I never heard from them again. The date for work has come and gone, no CM Electric. We've both called, leaving multiple voicemails, no response. It's as if this company disappeared! I thought we had something crossed off our list; however, aligning with them just pushed the work completion date out and made my list longer. We're very disappointed. read more

I wanted what seemed to be a simple quote to replace some existing outdoor landscaping lights. The company made an appointment time to make a quote then called very late in the day to cancel & re-schedule for the following day. The gentleman came out the next day and seemed very thorough saying he would quote me other options. I appreciated that he would quote the job 2 different ways and he promised it within a few days. A few days passed and I texted the contractor asking if I would see the emailed quote soon. I got NO response. A few more days went by and I texted him again that I would no longer be needing his services and would make other arrangements. No call, no apology for wasting a week of my time when he stated if we agreed quickly on a price he could complete the job by month's end. Now I need to arrange to start the process again with a new contractor and will unlikely not meet the deadline we wanted. I would not recommend this contractor based on breaking a promised quote and failure to follow up by phone, text or email as was expected. Very disappointing that the quote was just dropped without explanation. In a word, irresponsible. I did not have any work done by this contractor and cannot make a judgement on pricing or the quality of their work. read more

Our electric kept going out and it wasn't due to a circuit breaker issue on the main box inside the house. We thought it had to be ComEd and they came out and said it wasn't them. I talked to a couple electricians that said it was likely some bad wiring inside the house. Through a referral, I talked to Mike and CM Electric and he asked a few questions then had a list of a few things it would be. Vlad came out and diagnosed that I had a bad main breaker on the outside of the house that was probably 40 years old. Vlad was sharp as well and he got a new breaker and was back the next day for the repair. This was beyond the normal repair issue and they were able to figure it out quickly and get it resolved. Fixed a faulty outlet on my back porch, which other electricians told me would be impossible to fix, would have to install a new $2k outlet. After a year of not using my car's electric battery that I used to charge on that outlet, I called in CM Electric. They assured me it could be fixed as long as it used to work.
