Bites after sleeping on the bed
    Tiffany K.

I do not recommend. After the first night, I woke to 3 large bug bites along my left leg. I didn't think much of it until I woke to several new bites around my right ankle the following morning. Mind you, I wore shorts to bed, but otherwise wore jeans throughout the day. I was moved to another room (where the water/plumbing was not even working) and was told a team would conduct an inspection for bedbugs. Ultimately, I decided to cut my trip short due to lack of quality rest in the hotel, and ongoing swelling from the bites. The front desk manager asked me to send photos of the bites and said he would call me. I sent an email a few hours after I got off my plane, but did not hear back. I opted to throw away some of my personal belongings out of concern for bringing bedbugs home. When I sent a follow up message asking for an update several days later, the manager said he thought he had replied... and then went on to say no bedbugs were found. After asking for a partial refund, I received a follow-up email from the director and hotel manager apologizing for the situation and then offering me a discount code to return in the future, which IMO is not an appropriate resolution to the situation. I've been a loyal customer to the Arlo brand for many years, but would not recommend this location to anyone. Staff do not communicate in a timely manner.Yes, it was my decision to throw away some of my personal belongings. But bedbugs or not, something in that room bit me and there was no accountability for that.

The view from the top! I visited this beautiful top floor venue, on a whim with a friend. Great place. Friendly staff. Very busy and hip spot. Areas for small and large groups. Would definitely come back again.

I visited during Congressional Black Caucus week on a Friday for happy hour. The views are amazing. However, paying $30 for an 8oz Sidecar is insane. I had one drink and that was it. I didn't even purchase food because members of my group did and the portions were extremely small. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. My recommendation: if you do visit, allow it to be your second stop. Not the first. Enjoy the views.

I think the Arlo DC is a welcomed change to the hotel scene in the city. Many of the other chains are so cookie cutter in layout and design. I have only added pics of my room, but it would do you some good to check out the site. The lobby is beautiful, as are other areas within the hotel. The Bodega is very convenient. There is an on-site restaurant. The staff was extremely pleasant and professional each time I've stayed there. I've read other reviews about small rooms. I have only stayed in the room I've displayed during both visits. I thought the room was adequately sized. After all, most city hotels are leaning toward streamlining. At any rate, I loved my room. I love the architecture as a whole. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom shower had hot water and great water pressure (huge deal). There was plenty of space to stretch out in the room. I especially loved the sitting area and the nice touches throughout, like the exposed brick and the standalone closet. Plenty of space! The only annoyance I had was that the room stayed cold, both times. Nevertheless, it is a wonderful hotel. It is very convenient to other major go-to sites. I would both recommend it and patronize again.

I came to Arlo for a rooftop 30 and up function. The ground floor entrance is decorated in vibrant florals. Upon entering the rooftop, you see how grand the area truly is. The bar spanned a large portion of the room, and the views on the balcony are breathtaking overlooking DC.

This is an amazing hotel. Very modern living lifestyle. I love the look and smell right when you walk in. The check-in process was quick and easy. I had a great time here especially in the Bogeda and the Arrel restaurant. The room are spacious with huge windows. The lounge/conference rooms are a vibe as well. I walked all over this new hotel and I loved it. I hope to visit it again real soon.

Was absolutely wowed by my stay at The Arlo and truly didn't want to leave for the next leg of my business trip. I selected it due to its photos, business lounge area, and price point. Gorgeous interiors, friendly and helpful staff (Shamar and team at the front desk were awesome), lovely dining room, fun little roof bar with late night dining (shout out to Mikey for a great experience!), and the most sumptuous bed--slept like a baby! I had some meetings while there and everyone who came to meet me commented on how lovely it was. I will most assuredly be returning when I have business in DC- will take any excuse to return!

No ice buckets in the room nor in the ice room

Do not stay here. I don't believe we could've had a worse experience from any hotel, let alone a 4-star accommodation if they tried. The hotel is beautiful and that is the height of what they offer. Through several mishaps, nobody on the service side returned a call, followed up, or resolved the issues on their own for the entirety of the 3-night stay. I had to request the urban fee be removed from at least one of the two rooms I booked, and I was only refunded two of the three fees. The front desk person confirmed my claims via service notes but could only partially fulfill my request. There was zero empathy or gratitude for my patience. I shouldn't have had to fight for basic service. 1. Day 1 - I asked for a simple birthday note in the room and was told this only came with a paid amenity. I ordered a basket of 10-20 artisanal snacks and 4-8 non-alcoholic drinks. What showed up was 2 bags of Doritos, a box of M&Ms, a box of Skittles, 2 cans of water, and a bottle of Ketel One. I had to email proof of what I should have received. The front desk staff laughed when I followed up, remarking that they'd seen the photo I emailed and told me it would be corrected. It never was. After more follow-ups, I was told the original items weren't in stock and that this was their "comparable" alternative. No one informed me beforehand. I was refunded the basket and given two breakfast vouchers--on Day 3, resolved by Jeremy. 2. Day 2 - A maintenance issue shut off water and closed the restaurant Arrels for the rest of our stay. That restaurant was 1 of the only 2 places you could use the $15 daily credit included in the urban fee--but it didn't apply to breakfast, and there's no complimentary breakfast. Other guests were also upset, saying the in-room marketing was misleading. 3. The main restaurant was closed, so we tried Art on the rooftop. We were told they only served "shots, beer, or wine," though we saw food delivered to others nearby. 4. Day 3 - Our TV stopped working around 9AM. We were told maintenance would be up "soon." At noon, no one had come. We followed up again at 5pm still broken. I called again and was told they'd send someone right away. After another delay, I was finally called back by Jude, who acknowledged the ticket had been ignored. He offered to move us to a new room (same level, not an upgrade), and helped with our bags. Appreciated his effort, but again, not 4-star service. 5. Ice machines are only on the 3rd and 8th floors, and no buckets are in the rooms. When I asked, I was told buckets would be near the machines and no key was needed. We couldn't find any buckets on the 8th floor and had to go to the 3rd. You do need your key to access the ice room. There were also microwaves in those rooms, which we weren't told about, despite asking if there was a way to reheat food. In all the front desk provided a lot of lip service and wrong answers with no follow up and no initiative for resolution. No one was outright rude, but they also didn't seem to care much either.

Tasja was super sweet 10/10 the hospitality!!! recommend for any date nights or birthdays!!

That jetted tub was supposed to earn its keep. The room: genuinely beautiful. The technology: aggressively dated. The vibe: a 90s time capsule, complete with missing doorknobs. There was effort here, but it felt like the hotel was holding its breath, afraid any real investment might trigger the next recession. What they got right: The bellhops were fantastic. Warm, personable, fun. Truly the highlight. Most staff we interacted with were polite and willing to help, which made the gaps elsewhere even more confusing. What they got wrong (beyond the dated room and tech): For a hotel that loudly advertises luxury service, the customer experience fell flat. Outside of the arrival bowl of fruit, nothing felt elevated. Night two, we ordered pizza and planned a cozy Home Alone movie night. The technology made streaming impossible. Fine, cable it is. We called the concierge and asked for two plates. Just two. The answer was a flat no. We were told to walk down to the lobby restaurant and see if they might have plates "to spare." I'm sorry, what? The next morning, room service arrived... with someone else's order. It was corrected, but for a luxury hotel, that kind of miss is surprising. Housekeeping came through, but only halfway. The coffee and minibar were never restocked. In a suite. At a luxury hotel. This is table stakes. At 9:30 PM we stopped by the lobby circle bar. It was immediately clear the bartenders did not want to be there. I get it, service work is hard. Still, opening our interaction by warning us about last call at 11 set a strange tone. By 10:00, one bartender disappeared for 45 minutes. No refills. No check-in. No bill. Breaks are important. Coverage is also important, especially when you're selling a premium experience. Beyond the bellhops, much of the staff felt irritated to be present. Front desk to concierge, the energy was less "historic luxury hotel" and more "counting down the minutes." The hotel was also clearly prioritizing weekend tea and brunch revenue, to the point that the historic lobby was clogged with extra tables and largely unusable for actual hotel guests. Bottom line: this was not a luxury experience, and I would not recommend it. I'm only posting this publicly because I reached out directly to hotel management and never received a response. At that point, a review feels necessary.

Traveling can be exhausting, and during our stay, my son Colin often went down to the bar and restaurant on his own in the evenings and mornings. He ordered his meals, sat comfortably, enjoyed his time, and never once felt awkward or out of place. The staff made sure he had what he needed, checked in on him naturally, and created an environment where he felt completely at ease. As a parent, that level of care is something you never forget. For me, the experience was just as special. Corey, the bartender, was exceptional. Each evening, he made sure I had exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it, and engaged in thoughtful, easy conversation that made the space feel welcoming and safe. It wasn't just service--it was connection, and it made a long, tiring trip feel restorative. This hotel doesn't just deliver luxury--it delivers humanity. The staff understands how to read people, how to make guests feel comfortable, and how to create an atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong. I've stayed in many beautiful hotels, but this experience stands apart because of how we were treated as people. The central cherry blossom tree is the showstopper, and the main reason I chose the Waldorf for our afternoon tea. I had heard that there are several cherry blossom-themed afternoon teas all over DC that may have better food options, but this was the only one with decor this grand. My main concern was with our seating. I had called ahead of time to ask if they could accommodate my group to have a close seating location close to the cherry blossom tree due to our special occasion. The staff assured me during two separate calls that they would be able to accommodate our request, but upon getting seated, we were seated in the far corner by the bar. It is true that there is a fair view of the cherry blossom tree everywhere in the lobby, but I was disappointed at our far vantage point given the fact that I had called to confirm a close spot to the cherry blossom tree twice in advance. This is because I wanted to originally schedule the premium experience (premium seating, champagne, and fine china), but it was not available to groups larger than 4 and we were a group of 6. The service was otherwise perfectly fine and the portions of food were generous and tasty. We were all definitely full after finishing our savory bites. Our collective favorites were the chicken cherryaki and crab beignet bites, but we all appreciated the diverse offerings. We also had a friend with a peanut allergy dining with us, and they accommodated her easily by separating her pastries onto a separate tiered tray. It looks like the only item with a possible nut allergen was the crab beignet (her version had tofu). Despite the mild issues with seating, the experience was gorgeous. As a cherry blossom lover, I can see myself doing this every time I'm back in town. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Service: 4/5 - Food: 4/5
