We found Hotel Julian online and will return the next time we are Chicago. The customer service was great but the room/amenities were utterly spectacular! From Frette linens and towels, to lights under the base of the bed that lit as you walked by to the wonderfully appointed bathrooms, this place has it all. Whoever developed this concept and built this hotel took care to add in special touches that made your stay luxurious. We went to Bloomingdales to buy some of the towels as they were so spectacular! The location is great, even though a few blocks north would have been better - we walked everywhere we wanted to go. We will be back! read more

I'm incredibly disappointed in the customer service and quality of response we received regarding a recent issue with Hotel Julian. It has been our "go-to" spot for a while now. But during our most recent visit- they ended up charging us TWICE what our reservation quoted us for and they WOULD NOT offer ANY accommodation or reconciliation. Whether it was a "miscommunication" on their part or not - my confirmation email clearly stated one cost. And our Credit card statement shows double. After MANY attempts to contact them, I finally spoke with a manager who was completely unwilling to offer any recompense. Needless to say - we are sadly DONE with Hotel Julian. Pros: the location is pretty much unbeatable. You're steps away from the bean, walking distance to the river walk, a short bus ride to the miracle mile, about 19 minutes away from navy pier and Willis tower. The lobby is beautiful and well designed, the restaurant, about last knife is very good too, great drinks. The bathroom in my room was nice, and I enjoyed their selection of toiletries. Great shower pressure Cons- the carpet in my room 1207 was stained the bed is supposed to have an automatic light sensor that lights up when you walk around, it didn't The room service is a bit unpredictable since the restaurant is pulling double duty for non hotel and hotel patrons, but one night I had to wait an hour for drinks, and another tribe they were just randomly closed, and another time no OJ... at 10am. You need to be super specific, book directly, I booked through hopper which was a mistake Ask for a room w a city view bc there are several rooms that just face a dark alleyway, makes the room super depressing, and one tiny window makes it feel like prison. Lastly the walls are so thin I heard everything in the hall and rooms next to me. Ultimately I would consider booking again if I could guarantee a room w a city view and no gross carpet stains. Also I thought I booked an accessible room w 2 queen beds, they were definitely not queen beds, they were full. Also they charge a city fee so don't be shocked by that. This is a good hotel if you're going to be out enjoying the city hard and just need a place to sleep it off... read more

So here's my story - I left 4 expensive pairs of pants in my hotel room, and I called to see if they could return them, a week after I returned home. After a few calls back and forth trying to pinpoint the jeans, I was told they were found and that they would be shipped to me. Good! Well, couple weeks go by, and no pants. So I call again, and this time speak with the manager of house keeping department. She assures me that there was no record of these found items, but wanted to rectify the situation. So she reimbursed me for the value of the pants, $200!! I did not expect this, since it was my fault for leaving the pants, and it had been over a month since my stay, but nonetheless I was granted with money to buy some new pants. Thank you hotel Julian for following through and having great customer service! BTW the hotel is really nice - good view, very clean and quiet. My only complaint would be that the wifi did not work in the room I was staying in. But there's plenty of nearby coffee shops to go and do work. Thank you Hotel Julain! read more

If a bottle of vodka and full glass of bourbon, along with flying shards of glass land in your laps destroying your clothing, do not expect to be handed any more than a paper napkin to be handed to you or for any member of management to take the time to contact you to apologize. It is a very convenient location. After the sleepless night of car horns and sirens you can trot down the street to Macy's to replace your liquor soaked clothing and be grateful to go home. 2 stars only because the women at the front desk are amazing. They really deserve better employers. read more

The service we received at the front desk was exceptional, genuine and super friendly. We even received an upgrade to a room with great views over the city. The rooms are fairly big, nicely modern furnished and very clean. The beds are super comfy. Conveniently located with just a few steps to Millennium park. Would definitely stay here again. read more

I really like this hotel - small, quaint, clean with a friendly front desk task. My room was rather small but I could care less since I was out running the Chicago streets doing the "tourist thing" lol. This hotel is in extremely close walking distance to Millennium & Grant Park which is perfect. The bed sleep heavenly and I appreciated the complementary water each day. Can't wait to visit the Chi again as this will be my go-to spot! read more

Between location and price, this hotel is pretty great. I booked it last minute for work and stayed through the weekend to see family. It's a new hotel which you can easily tell from how clean and modern it is. I travel a lot for work and a major complaint is how many hotels are stuck in the 20th century but not this hotel. The alarm clock had wireless charging for your phone with a bluetooth speaker, a USB plug in every outlet which are seem to be every five feet, and light switches near the bed, couch, desk, and front door. The location also doesn't disappoint. Located across from Millennium park, you don't have to go far to run, to get food, or go to a museum. It also had great access to public transport, just 500 feet from a Metra station out to the suburbs and two blocks from the Red line. The only negative things I have to say about this hotel are housekeeping and a check-in fee. I checked in early and despite the clerk telling me there are multiple open rooms, I was charged a $25 early check-in fee. My first morning in the hotel, we used water glasses, the Nespresso pods, and the Nespresso cups. When we got back to the hotel that night, housekeeping had clearly come but left the dirty glasses and didn't replace the Nespresso pods. They left the dirty cups the entire stay and never replaced the Nespresso pods. They also never gave enough towels. Each day we had to request extra towels as they only gave us one set. They promptly brought up anywhere from 2 to 4 extra sets of towels but when housekeeping came each day, they took the clean towels and left only one set. Overall, this hotel is great and for the location and price, I didn't mind the very minor inconveniences of Housekeeping and the check-in fee. read more

Absolutely beautiful hotel, great location! Room was very clean and decor is excellent and elegant

Travelers BeWare, On a recent visit in Feb 21 I decided to give this place a try mainly because the location and the reputation that this place USE TO HAVE Let me tell you gone are the days. The visit started out a mess Heavy traffic on Michigan ave makes it impossible to stop in front so we realized it's a back entry through the Alley (Feb snow storm in a Chicago alley is pretty bad) made it through though. The desk agent maybe should be a manager was nice but honest. I was told after checking in that there was a urban fee added at checkout which was odd but I know how sneaky fees is but the card reader was down so captured a pic of my id and told me she will input before check out! Here's where things get interesting, I asked about Ice machine and maybe microwave because it seemed there was non in the room was told every 5th fl for ice microwave on the 4th so after about 30 mins looking for ice and another 30 for microwave I noticed rubbish on the floor on the 4th decided to look closer and it was a random microwave just sitting on the floor outside of a guest room (Umm does the urban fee go towards this?) ok big deal but not a deal breaker, Upon entry to room since there is no Covid cleaning stickers or anything time for inspection after 1 min scan of the room noticed a cluster of what looked to be insects but hey let's investigate well wouldn't you know ITS A BED BUG CLUSTER ON THE WALLS SEVERAL CLUSTERS OF BEDBUGS yup I said it BEDBUGS well to make a long story short immediately contacted front desk with video pictures and a sample of the specimen was told they needed to move the entire floor so I decided to probe and realized that half the hotel is also closed because of YOU GUESSED IT A Problem well here's the real problem After being moved the room given wasn't cleaned either I was told I wouldn't be charged for the room or the urban fee but I decided not to continue the visit (checked in down the street at a clean brand) I called the next day seeing I had been charged the urban fee and for the room to follow up with a manager well non was available but the desk agent said he heard about the situation and they will get back with me. Several messages and attempts to contact anyone from the hotel has been unsuccessful This is not a place I recommend seeing they may not be in business long at this rate. read more

Super long review Stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights their opening weekend. They were noticeably understaffed. After our flight we checked in and were told that as a service they would upgrade our room to the millennium rooms but it would be a 2-3 hour wait. Didn't seem too bad since we wanted to walk around the park anyways. So we spent 2 hours walking around and 1 hr waiting in the hotel. Then we asked how much longer we would need to wait and they said it would be another hour. We were slightly frustrated but seeing it was opening weekend understood it may have been busy. finally after another 2 hours pass we finally got our room. But was taken back that we were given a room on the 9th flr when they promised us the millennium room which is the reason why we agreed to wait. But I thought to myself maybe the millennium room start from the 9th flr. Got to our room and was very agitated to see that it was a standard room that we could have gotten without the wait. Not only that there were specks of blood drops on one of the bed covers and a coffee machine without any coffee or cups. The bathroom floor was covered with hair and dust. We called the front desk and told them our situation and then told us that we wouldn't be getting a millennium room as promised. So we then had to ask them if they could put us the next night. They said yes but it wouldn't be till noon for our room to be ready. We said that would be fine as long as it was going to be sometime around noon. Next day comes around we decided to get breakfast delivered so that we don't miss their call. We waited till 1 to call to see the status. The front desk said that we were next in que and a room should be available by 2. So we waited longer. Finally by 3 we called the front desk again and ask when the room would be ready. They told us it maybe another hour or so but would give us a call when it was ready. I was furious at this point. (Bitching at my poor bf about why a socalled 4star hotel is making us play the waiting game) Eventually we told the front desk that we will go out and walk around and should be back by dinner time to checkin our new room. The front desk said that there should be no reason why the room shouldn't be ready by that time. So from 4-9 we shopped and walked around. And were wondering why we still haven't be called. We make it back to the hotel and my bf told me to go ahead up to the room to avoid me making a scene. FINALLY at 10, yes 10PM our millennium room was ready. It seemed like we waited more than we stayed at the hotel. The entire reason we planned this trip was because of this new hotel they hyped up. But after this experience I wont be coming back. It was just so much work for us on what was supposed to be my bf and I weekend getaway. read more

Poor guest services. Front desk staff were extremely rude. They ran out of water bottles, don't have valet parking, wouldn't give complete information about parking around the area. They told me there is a parking garage near to them but failed to inform that they are daily and not hourly. I had to take my car out and pay $30 again to park!!! room/bathroom was not properly clean. I called dining at 9:50 but they refused to take my order even though I was told kitchen closes at 10 and I could order any time before. I won't stay here again for poor customer services!!! read more

I stayed at Hotel Julian for a quick trip to Chicago. I have mixed feelings about the experience. This new hotel, only open since October 2018, was still under construction. The floor I stayed on was not fully finished. The room was lovely but don't let the high ceilings deceive you...the room was small. I felt like there was limited space on the tv console or on the bathroom vanity to unpack belongings. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens. The room itself was very clean. The worst part of the visit was the view from our room. It looked directly into an office building that was just a few feet away. The valet is in the alley behind the hotel surrounded by dirty dumpsters. Halfway through my stay I received a text asking for feedback about the visit. When I responded I received a text asking to clarify. When I responded, I never heard anything further from the hotel. Additionally, be aware that there is a $15 a night resort fee that covered the use of the gym and two bottles of water. The hotel is beautiful, exactly as it looks on the internet but still only earns 3 stars from me. read more

The price was way too high for what we had. I tried to check in early or do luggage hold. I know that early check in is only if it's available, but the manner we were treated with was not cool. She kept telling us that our room wasn't guaranteed, that we might not have the room type we booked and tried to make us accept another room. Told me that she would call me as soon as our room was available. She didn't. And when explaining this to the woman working the desk (at 8 pm after walking around the city waiting for a call) she was also short and unapologetic. She gave us 1 drink coupon for the bar when we had 2 adults standing there. What are they expecting us to do, share the one drink?? The room was nice and the beds were clean and comfortable. However the cleaning chemicals they use was so horribly strong we all had bad headaches within 20 min. I'm asthmatic and have been struggling with trying to breathe. Bathroom was nice and very clean. The nightstand was covered in long hairs and dust that I swiped a finger through. Super disappointed with the hotel over all, and the lack of apology is ridiculous. Convenient location but there are other spots to put our visiting family in. read more

This hotel is brand new - I booked before it had even opened. That being said, I was a little nervous about our stay, but I decided to take a chance and hope for the best. Turns out I had nothing to worry about - this was easily one of the nicest/most comfortable hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful - it's clear that they are doing everything they can to ensure that people are happy with their stay. I didn't catch his name, but the bell hop who assisted us with storing our bags until/after check-in/check-out is one of the nicest humans I've ever met. He went above and beyond and was incredibly helpful! The rooms/amenities were beautiful and high-quality. And the location... you can't get a better spot! This was my first time visiting Chicago and I can easily say that the next time I go I will be booking this hotel. **NOTE - I only stayed one night... I see other reviewers mentioned having issues with the room being kept up during a multi-night stay. All I can say is that based on my experience with the staff, they're doing everything they can to address any concerns and improve as they are brand new and it is independently owned. read more

This hotel has a really great location right down town with easy access to everything. The staff gets you every morning and evening when you are coming and going. Free water any time. The ALK restaurant has an excellent happy hour with some amazing drinks, also great food. The rooms do have some lovely amenities, bathrobes, nice products, safe, fridge, steamer for clothes. All rooms are shower only no bathtubs. Watch out for the surcharges, $15.00 per day urban fee plus tax. (They do notify you on the website) My bad for not double checking my bill, I got charged a whopping $62.00 for movies. I watched only one movie on one evening. Leaves me feeling like I got conned. Meh.... that's all I have... ha. The rooms are SMALL but the location is fantastic and the price was right. Coming from someone who travels for work and lives in hotels for the most part, I was not impressed. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again. read more

Amazing clean place to stay worth every penny will always pick this place to stay when I'm in Chicago

I LOVE Hotel Julian. It was great pre-pandemic, and is even better now! Upon arrival, Marco promptly took my luggage and gave helpful directions to the Self-Park close by. At the end of our trip, Travis was also prompt and helpful. The front desk lady, Amber, was the real star of the show. She was prompt, knowledgeable, and SO friendly, welcoming, and patient. She made me and my friend feel like treasured guests. Each day and at the end of our trip she checked on us to be sure that all was well, and that we had everything we needed. She really elevated an already great experience. We loved our 17th floor room with its super-comfortable bed and amazing views of Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, and Lake Michigan. Every morning at 7 am we had coffee and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, About Last Knife. The coffee and food were delicious, and the service by the attentive and friendly Monica (who kept refilling my coffee and remembered what we ate the day before!) and her co-worker went above and beyond. We also had drinks and delicious salads there, enjoying the attentiveness of the wonderful, friendly, and knowledgeable server Luke, all while sitting on the patio and enjoying the city bustle. As single women, my friend and I felt completely safe with Hotel Julian's security procedures. Everything was very clean, and the hotel itself is historic and beautiful. We loved our stay from beginning to end, will definitely be back, and highly recommend it (ask for Amber!) read more

This review is mainly for the restaurant attached to the hotel(though the hotel was lovely). Johnny the bartender went way out of his way to make sure our food went in quickly as we were on our way to Hamilton. WE came down late to grab an appetizer, but you would have thought it was all his fault! He personally checked the status of our food several times. He kept apologizing, but we were the late ones. After the show Pierre and Johnny were there to greet us and made us feel special....i almost thought that they thought we were famous or something! Lol. read more

Waking up I'm my room at the Hotel Julián is like waking up in a super cozy, fluffy cloud of comfort. I'm impressed that this ultra-modern hotel has prioritized sensual elements amid their sleek decor. The bed is literally the most comfortable one In which I've ever slept. Every detail is thoughtfully provided. Most notable is the lighting system which offers a 'master setting' that allows you to bring up the lights you last had chosen in the degree of brightness that was your choice. Brilliant! read more

Stayed here on a work trip. I was surprised with a ridiculous amount of hidden fees that screwed over my trip budget and were never made clear to me during reservation or check in, nor given any record of. When asking the front desk about it, I was continuously interrupted and made to feel like I was crazy for questioning their $100 a night hidden fee. They claim I'll get $85 back per night but they couldn't tell me when that would happen. They also couldn't explain what the fee was for. After some back and forth they bribed me with a meal in exchange for me not writing a review. I have literally never written a review but felt like I had to. If you can afford the suspicious fees, the actual hotel is very nice. The two stars are for the fantastic food downstairs at ALK and the admittedly lovely room. read more

Overall, my stay was great. Why the 3-star rating? Well, it's simple... I booked NYE for a room with a king sized bed. I arrived at 9pm. My day was busy and I couldn't make it prior to that time. I check in and the guy at the desk tells me I reserved for two beds... Lies! I tell him I know I booked for a king you just only have two beds left and aren't going to do the right thing by saying you've upgraded other people before me! Unacceptable!! I'm sorry I don't like being lied to! Customer Service is key! He failed and therefore the hotel takes the hit! read more

This is a great hotel, aside from the covid restrictions and not having housekeeping I would definitely stay here again. The hotels ambiance is really nice, it's in a great location, there's restaurants in front of the hotel and it's a street away from the bean. Giordanos is a block away, there's so much in walking distance. Another great thing about this hotel was they were very flexible with our check in . Our flight kept getting delayed they were super accommodating, and gave us complimentary water bottles when we arrived. The t.v. is very high tech the wifi is free and it comes with a Google Chrome cast so you can stream from your phone. The only reason I docked it a star was because one of our towels was dirty when we go it and we used it after realizing it. Ew. Lol overall great experience otherwise . read more

If you do not want to read this entire post just know that if your are looking for somewhere to stay that has good views, the amenities promised, cleanliness, kind service or any service at all, you should definitely not stay here. I'm sad to say that I was a "guest" at Hotel Julian this past weekend. I use the term "guest" very loosely because there were only two staff members, the young woman working the front desk on Saturday afternoon and a gentleman (who's title I don't know but who appeared to be a manager of the restaurant), who made me feel welcome and acted as though they cared whether or not we enjoyed our stay. Had I those to staff members been the only ones who I encountered throughout our stay then I would have happily given the hotel 5 stars. Sadly, the way the rest of the staff treated us, especially the woman working the desk when I checked out, completely overshadowed the hospitality of those two staff members. The issues began immediately when we arrived. We pulled through a small alley to the valet and a man yelled at us to move out of the way because there was a car behind us. He directed us to pull further back into the alley by a construction site. We sat there waiting for five minutes in a very dark and uncomfortable corner of an alley that had rats running past our car. Eventually I decided to look for the valet only to find it was the man who yelled at us to get out of the way. We had to walk through the alley to get to the door and when I asked for a luggage cart he looked at me like I was asking for something absurd and ignored my request. When we arrived at the desk I told the man working about it and he couldn't have cared less. I understand it was late when we checked in but he was not welcoming or hospitable or even polite in any way. We got to out room and were unable to get the Chromecast to work on the TV in order to I watch a movie. It wasn't a big deal but it is a promised amenity on the hotel website. When I went to shower there was a long, dark hair folded inside of the towel. It was disgusting because it made me question whether the towels were actually clean. The next day when I talked to the young woman at the front desk she was beyond helpful and apologetic and I greatly appreciated her help. She removed the price of the first night of valet and gave us breakfast vouchers. I wish I had caught her name because she deserves to be commended for her hospitality. The second night we still couldn't get the Chromecast to work so I called the front desk to ask for help and they sent someone to my room. He was unable to get it to work either but said he would be back to fix it. We went to dinner then came back and it still wasn't fixed so I called the front desk and was rudely told they were working on it. We went for drinks and came back a few hours later and it stillwasn't fixed so I called again and was met with an even ruder response that it would be worked on. I asked if it was part of the extra fee that is charged on top of the rate of the room and they said it was. We were blown off and never heard anything more about it. At checkout the next day the woman working the front desk was beyond rude. I told her what we had been through and asked about the Chromecast being part of the extra fee and she claimed it wasn't then spoke down to me and said she knew what she was talking about. Not only was she not helpful but she said we had already had the first night of parking deducted and that they never do that so she wasn't sure that it should have been. This was the worst hotel experience I had ever had and urge anyone looking at this hotel to stay elsewhere. read more

Pulled a bait and switch. The night before our reservation, they called to cancel because of "a group." They were unwilling to explain further. Friends and I booked to stay at the Hotel Julian (first time in Chicago) We were at the bar downstairs around 11:00pm. We were a little loud, I can admit, and security asked us to quiet it down. We complied with no issues. We were just on our first drink. No where near drunk and belligerent. So, about an hour in, their host at the bar and in the dining area (all white) started to stare and look towards our group (all black). And, this was not for a second, it was through a 2-3 minute period. So, I whispered to my group..."What is she looking at". She said WHAT DID YOU SAY? (which was rude from the beginning) I said is there a problem?? (not aggressively either). Assertive but not aggressive. She responded back and said no, I was not looking at you. We bought another round of drinks and five minutes later the manager says "Can you please leave"? We asked why? And, he simply could not explain why. He proceeded to mumble, well, you were rude to my staff. I said no, I simply asked a question. We were extremely upset. First, we PAYED to stay in that hotel and second, we bought drinks and the bar and complied initially when security told us to quiet it down (though it is a bar). We were forced to leave from downstairs (aggressively). It was wrong. I do not recommend staying here, due to poor customer service from both the staff and manager. read more

Upon arrival on Jan 25th in the evening, we were greeted by a rather rude associate at the front desk for check-in. Being personable or friendly was not his strength. That put us off right away. The next morning after a long drive, we slept in. Around 11:30am on the 26th, we called down to get the room serviced as we were leaving for the day. A friendly associate on the phone said that they would attend to it. We arrived back at the hotel around 5:30pm and went to our room to change clothes. The room had not been serviced. I went down to the front desk to see if there was a mis-understanding or if we could get a change of towels. I found the same rude associate from the previous night working there, and once again, he was curt and rude with his responses. He said he couldn't guarantee the room would be serviced and that cleaning staff was there only until 7pm. I wanted new towels at least - he said he could do that. Gee...how gracious of him, I thought. We got changed, but no new towels arrived as we were about to leave for the night. I went and found a person of the cleaning staff myself, and they were very friendly and provided clean towels to me. The next morning, the 27th, the same thing. I didn't bother calling down to the front desk about getting the room serviced. I just found a person on the cleaning staff and requested it myself. They were extremely friendly and personable and assured me it would get done. It was done when we arrived back. Yay! Also when we were leaving it wasn't the rude man who shot us dirty looks. It was a very personable, outgoing staff member named Jen. I commend Jen for her ray-of-sunshine attitude and demeanor. It was very refreshing after having to deal with the "I want nothing to do with people" man all weekend. From there, our stay was enjoyable enough and everyone else we met during that stay was very friendly. Its all about location at the hotel, as the rooms are small, there isn't a lot of storage space, and the walls and floors are extremely thin to where you can easily hear your neighbors. To be honest, I probably won't stay here again as the Swissotel is nearby and they deliver on the 4 star hotel experience (stayed there twice). read more

Everything looks new. The service is good. I like my stay here when I visit Chicago. I will be back.

Before coming to Chicago for a quick vacation I took the time to research at which hotel we would be staying. There are definitely some good options but I'm glad chose Hotel Julian! The location cannot be beat. The hotel is literally right across the street from Millennium Park (where the famous Chicago Bean is). The hotel is easy walking distance from all the cool tourist things to do while in Chicago. The hotel is extremely clean and the room was very modern too. Very cool boutique hotel. Did I mention how clean this place is?! But why I knew I made the right choice is because of the excellent customer service experience we have received here from the staff at Hotel Julian. Cindy at the front desk was a wonderful person to deal with, very professional. I'll be recommending this place to my friends, family, and coworkers for sure! read more

This was one of the worst hotels rooms we have ever stayed in but let me start with saying something nice. It was clean, on trend, comfortable bed (except for when I banged my elbow into the tower beside me every time I adjusted my pillow- but more about that lower in review) and the restaurant was good, but we only had drinks there and breakfast twice. Now for why we will never recommend this hotel- we have stayed at better motels in our life and bad customer service from the front desk. We made reservations 4 MONTHS in advance and paid for a king bed. I called a week in advance to let them know we would be arriving after 11 pm and to please not give away our king bed reservation, I was assured all would be fine. It was NOT and Richard explained to us that Hotel Julian had a first come first serve policy???? When I asked then why you charge differently on your web page for King rooms or views room he could not explain and told me there was nothing I could do. He said they could move us the next day after 4pm. I explained that was impossible that we would be unavailable to move the next day our 4-day trip was planned out to the hour. So, we were stuck in the worst designed use of small space I ever saw. Don't be fooled by the pretty pictures on the web site- this place is tiny. There is NO CLOSET, but rather a 10-inch-wide tower (like from IKEA) about 7 feet tall and 24" deep, with a center shelf- stuck right next to your pillow as the "closet". I mean right next to your face your arm hits it when you adjust your pillow. A woman can't even hang a dress in it because of the shelf. There is one SMALL drawer UNDER the bed - so you have no where to unpack anything. Only one luggage rack so you must put your other piece in front of the tiny closet and hop over it to get out of bed. And we brought CARRY ON SIZE- I don't know what the others with full luggage do. The small refrigerator sits directly on the floor so you must kind lift it up to open and close the door because it scrapes on the carpet and they balance the coffee pot on top of it. Don't know why they couldn't have placed it in a furniture piece to be more user friendly and stable. The bathroom has dim lighting so you can't really do your make up well-, but I guess it doesn't matter because there is only a 24" sink so you do not have a place to rest ANYTHING on the vanity. There is NO water pressure from the shower so ladies if you have long hair it takes a while to wash and rinse it. We didn't even have a towel bar in our bathroom except for a small one ABOVE the toilet???? That you can't hang your long shower towel on. There are 2-inch-deep tiny shelves mounted on the wall beside the sink they roll the towels to stay on, might look cool but doesn't function. So, we had to flip the towels over the shower rod to have a place to rest our toothbrushes. Thank God they had a makeup mirror not attached to the wall because Ladies you need to take that to put on the tiny shelf (opps desk) or windowsill because you're doing your hair and makeup there, but again without good lighting. I called the Hyatt down the block immediately on Wed. night that late, but they were booked so we were stuck. They think just saying they are a boutique hotel that explains it all- the space could have been designed better to work. It clearly was designed by a man- for 1 man to stay in or just for him when he hooks up, because we are a small sized couple and it was not good, like I said the size of the room we could handle it was the poor design. Did the hotel forget guest bring stuff with them?, and we only had 4 days, carry on. The customer service was very bad considering this was THERE error, and they didn't credit me for not having the king room I reserved and paid for. Also the $15 resort charge you get daily for your Wi-Fi and water- ha, they do not put the water in your room when they clean it- YOU have to go to the front desk - wait in line to ask for your daily bottle of precious $15 water- your out of luck if you forget and in the middle of the night expect it to be beside your bed like most hotels do- Right what am I thinking there is NO bedside it's an Ikea tower/ closet there. There are so many beautiful places in Chicago and at this price point that are so much better, don't stay here unless you're having an overnight hook up. read more

We booked through the website and it was super easy to navigate. THe lady at the front desk was super nice and welcoming. The aurora when you walk in smelled super good yet wasn't to strong. The aesthetic of the hotel was very VSCO and insta worthy. The room was super clean and our view was great ! Will deff be back! read more

Great location on Michigan Ave, right across from Millennium Park. The two entrances lead to confusion about where to pick up (Lyft would randomly pick or drop off at the alley entrance or Michigan Ave, but just watch for where your car seems to be heading, and it's a quick dash through the lobby from one door to the other). It's hard to get the front desk when you call down, but the staff is friendly. Our room is clean, but the TV goes out intermittently. Otherwise, everything seems to be functioning. The fitness center is also clean (and small). read more

Stay away...cancelled our reservation on the same day as check in, due to "renovations" (you didn't know you were doing renovations?) just book somewhere else, you'll end up in a different hotel anyway. read more
