Thank you Dr Cohen and Christina M (tech) For making my visit, extremely prompt and painless, I shall say As a new patient, it was a little frustrating in the beginning the hold time to try to reach somebody, but I was unable to email or go through the portal because I was not established I will say I was impressed with the office and the Team in general so for me it was worth The time and now that I'm a established patient I can reach out in the portal which they seem to use, which is my preference.. Upon checking, everything is done electronically, which is definitely A plus in my book as that's my preference The wait time in the lobby was minimal. The testing was prompt and pleasant. Christina M was very thorough and knowledgeable and friendly at that. She made me extremely comfortable with all the testing for My Lupus. All in all, I feel like it's a great office. The atmosphere was very clean the gal's upfront who checked me and we're extremely sweet as well as checkout. So thank you again for making everything so prompt and getting me in in a timely fashion. This place was amazing!! Went to southwestern eye center and they said a $7,000 dollar cataract surgery was needed. After having the exam here found out I was not even a candidate for that surgery and the basic one that was covered by my insurance was the best option. So thankful! read more

I would not recommend this business. They are a scam. I went for an appointment because of blurry vision. They ran a battery of tests and said I had a condition that sometimes occurs after cataract surgery and would have to come back in two weeks to see their doctor and doctor. When I arrived for my appointment they put me through the same battery of tests as my previous visit and I finally saw a doctor who spent two minutes to confirm the previous diagnosis and to tell me I needed to see a ophthalmologist in four weeks. They also required a payment on the first visit even though my insurance covered it all. Months later I still have not been refunded my original payment. They claim they have not been paid by my insurance but my insurance company says they have. I would not recommend this to anyone I know. read more

I had an appointment at 2 pm. Wasn't called back until 2:45. While the First Lady was helping me I asked her how long this process took. She got upset and said let me do my job. I said if I have questions about what your process is that's part of your job. She got more upset after this, we finished the tests while she was acting like a child the whole time. Then tried to place me in a room the size of a Bathroom with about 10 people. I said are these people all waiting to see the same Dr. and she said yes. I said why aren't these 20 other rooms that are open have the patients in them? She had no response. Besides rolling her eyes. So I said not a chance in hell. You over book your appointments by 10 fold. That's a crooked money hungry excuse of a Dr. look at their reviews and their 3* rating. Any Dr office should never have a low rating like these people do. They would rather overbook their patients and have them sit around for hours. Waiting for a Doctor Who will look at them for 5 minutes. Stay away from this clown show. Unless you don't mind sitting around for 4 hours for a 5 minute appointment. Do better!!! read more

I was referred to Dr. Mitzel at Arizona Eye Specialists by my optometrist at Optical Gallery Arizona due to what they believed was high ocular pressure. It took a few weeks to get an appointment, but that is to be expected with most any specialist these days. Plus, it was not a STAT referral and I did not mind waiting (I have massive white coat syndrome when it comes to the eye doctor!) Their office is conveniently located right on Thunderbird Blvd. in Glendale across the street from Banner Thunderbird Hospital. Super convenient and centrally located. Plenty of ample parking typical of any medical complex. Parking lot and entryway are quite clean as is the lobby of their office. I was greeted immediately by the medical assistants at the front desk. I filled out the normal allotment of new patient paperwork and they scanned in all of my information. I did not wait long for my appointment and was even called back early. They started off with a basic vision test and even confirmed the new Oakleys I received at my optometrist was, indeed, manufactured at their lab with the incorrect RX. I knew this was the case, but they confirmed I am not insane and am barely capable of seeing 20/60 with this new pair of glasses I got just a couple of weeks ago. I was not a fan of the eye pressure test simply due to the white coat syndrome I have when it comes to eye doctors. The MA's who administered the test for me were so incredibly sweet, kind, caring and patient. I do not recall their names, but I'm certain they'll recognize my Yelp photo and name and be, like - oh yeah. I remember that dude. Sorry ladies! Anywho, once that God awful test was over, they dilated my eyes in preparation of seeing Dr. Mitzel. And I don't know why all these Yelp'ers in previous reviews are, like, "0h mY G0D, wHy diDn'T tHeY tEll mE tHEy wErE g0nnA d1L@tE MY eYeBaLLz?!?!" GTFO. You're paying to have a comprehensive eye exam done. Why WOULDN'T they be dilating your eyes?! Put on some sunglasses and kwit'cher whining. I was able to be seen by Dr. Mitzel who reviewed all of my information. He confirmed (along with the MA's) that my pressure was within normal range. Dr. Mitzel was very thorough and took time explaining everything to me. He wasn't dismissive at all and did a thorough exam of my eyes since they were dilated. After I checked out of my appt., I asked for a copy of my office visit notes and guess what? They showed up in my e-mail the very next day! My appointment was confirmed. I received excellent care. The clinic is clean. The staff is so kind, caring and professional. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Arizona Eye Specialists to my family, friends and fellow Yelp'ers. read more

Received terrible service in office and with billing. Dr.Miller was extremely dismissive. I came in for a routine eye exam . Before being seen my chart was misplaced. I watch numerous people check in after me and be taken back for the take thing as me. The tech who had my chart was sitting in at the front desk looking up random pop culture facts chit chatting with others. During my eye exam they dilated my eyes after I told them I was driving myself home. Will never trust these people with my time health or money again. I've spent a hour and a half calling my insurance and Arizona eye billing department trying to get the extra charges sorted out. I made an appointment to see Dr. Thomas McPhee for a TED exam. I had previously been seen by Dr. Thomas McPhee for a Diabetic eye exam a little less than a year ago. I made sure the office knew it was for a TED exam not the Diabetic eye exam. I came in for my appointment. The technician immediately started talking to me about the diabetic exam and I repeated to her that is not why I'm here. I am here for the TED exam. Please make sure the doctor knows that and she said she would the doctor performed different types of test and told me my eyes were great and I wouldn't have to be back for another year for my diabetic exam again I said what about the exam the reason why I am here so you don't have TED, how do you know that you didn't look for it? If you had it you had it for a long time he said so there's nothing we could do about it. He doesn't even listen to his patient or read the notes. I will never ever see this doctor again. read more

Made an appointment and finally got in, they said they would put me with the older doctor but wanted to overwhelm him while scheduling. While at the appointment he never introduced himself and just went to work. He ended up dilating my eyes- which no one warned me or made me sign anything to the fact that I wouldn't be able to see for many hours after. I should have not have driven but because of covid I was the only one allowed at my appointment. It was very irresponsible of them to let people Out of the office with no warning that they should not drive home... on top of it too, they referred me out to another doctor at a different location who specializes in droopy eye (what I came in for) but why didn't they just send me to that doctor in the first place when I made the appointment. This was my first eye exam ever. I was not informed my eyes were going to be dilated. I have driven home both my grandmother and mother from eye exams after they were told they should not drive by their doctors offices. They were given wrap around sunglasses for the ride home. I was handed a cheap paper pair of glasses similar to 80's 3D glasses and sent on my way. I felt extremely unsafe on my drive home and it was very scary. Not only that, I signed a form saying yes I would like the vision exam and will pay the $60 fee. They forgot to do it and advised me to go to just Walmart when they reopen. After driving home in the blinding sun today I still can't see clearly out of my right eye. This is a most upsetting experience. I would have 100% arranged a ride had I known. I'm just now able to see well enough to write this review 11 hours after my exam today. read more

I went to Arizona Eye Specialist for my yearly exam. Immediately after Ruth, the medical assistant, touched the probe to my cornea for the exam I started having increased tearing and burning in my eye. I told the doctor right away and he said that can happen with the drops but I told him my other eye felt fine. As I'm driving home my eye got worse. Once home I had to take tylenol extra strength for the pain not only in my eye but now a headache, blurred vision, light sensitivity, increased tearing and it felt like sand in my eye. I thought about going to the ER but with the ER over-flowing with Covid patients I decided to go to bed early. When the office opened the next day I called for an urgent appointment. The doctor checked my eye for a scratch and saw it was extremely irritated. All the same symptoms continued. He placed antibiotic/anti-inflammatory drops in my eye with a contac to protect my extremely irritated cornea and said to use the drops 4 times/day and to return the next day to remove the contac. I returned the next day to have the contac removed and the front desk supervisor ,Yomara, stated I owe my co-pay. I said the injury to my eye happened yesterday during the exam. She raised her voice and stated, 'YOU OWE your co-pay for specialists and when you come tomorrow YOU'LL OWE another co-pay! I reiterated and she said she was going to send for payment from my insurance! There was absolutely no concern for what I was going through and no accountability. They were callous, rude with no empathy. I'm an RN and I cannot believe how I was treated-they do not know how to treat patients at all. Just last week I was telling a friend that I'm so grateful I can see. I went in with healthy eyes and left with an injury that caused me so much pain and grief. Nobody apologized or took responsibility for what happened to me. read more

I came here for some help because I had a prescription that was from an optometrist that didn't make me see well. I then went to another optometrist and got a prescription that was totally the opposite. This place did some expensive tests but did not give me a new prescription I asked why they said there was no difference between the two previous prescriptions. Yes there was because one of the prescriptions was for nearsighted and the other was for farsighted. There is a big difference. I am not dumb. I got taken. Letting me know they were free of problems and I didn't need a new pair of glasses , unless I wanted them. He did the same fine job with my wife and made her feel confortable. I found myself in need of an emergency eye exam yesterday, and AES were able to get me in to see Dr. Miller in Glendale within about 2 hours of my call. I was able to complete all of my paperwork from my computer at home and take it in with me. Arrived for the appointment and was taken back after a very short wait. The receptionists and the assistant were all very friendly and polite, as was Dr. Miller himself. Turns out the issue I was having wasn't what I thought it was, thankfully. Dr. Miller did a great job of explaining exactly what he saw and how it would affect me, as well as what to watch for. I was in and out in under 30 minutes and was very happy with the whole experience. I've been seeing ophthalmologists on a pretty regular basis for over 45 years, and this visit was one of the best I've had. read more

I have always liked this eye doctors and the care they put into each patient. I was a little upset to hear that during his covid mess that they were still asking for co-pays, so once i was done, i called my insurance toask why since they were the ones that said there was no co-pays between 6-2020 until 12-31-2020.. Turns out they are one of the few that did not sign up to opt out for us. I know everyone is struggling right now and some of us can't return to work due to either our age or disability. I was hoping that they too could wave this, however after paying bills and rent, $1.27 doesn't stretch far. Love the staff and doctors tho. read more

Recently I went through cataract surgery, Each appointment was thorough, courteous and on time. Dr. Floyd was easy to deal with, she explained my condition and surgery in terms I could understand. Dr. Floyd made me feel like I was her only patient and really cared about myresults. I recommend Dr. Floyd for any and all eye related exams and surgery. Needless to say i am not impressed. It's already almost half hour after my appointment time and this is getting ridiculous. The exam was fine, and people were kind. However, the optical technician did not have my consent to dilate my eyes and told me he was doing so after putting the drops in my eyes. This typically requires written consent. My other piece of information for those seeking a routine eye exam here is that the charges are quite hefty and my insurance (AVESIS) typically gives me $130 toward contact lenses, but due to their 75 dollar fee (on top of my normal exam fee and copay) I was only given 55 dollars toward lenses. This seemed over priced to me and made it so I paid much more out of pocket for my contact lenses. read more
