I was driving by and saw an art supply sign, so I did a u-turn (legally, of course) to check it out. Plenty of parking and a pretty big store with lots of interesting art supply options. I really liked the handmade papers (and bought some for future projects). There's also a side room where they do art classes. I found more info on their online calendar and found a series as well as an every Monday class. I was also happy to learn this is an independently owned local store. And the staff were nice! read more

Arizona Art Supply - Really nice specialty papers at reasonable prices! - Art Supplies Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

This request for words goes back to December, 2025. Christmas gift time for family artists. Paper, pens, pencils and...Guft Cards!

My wife and I were visiting my great niece and it turns out eight years old. She has a talent for art so I said oh I know what to get her. My brother was a famous artist, and he was encouraged from that age forward, and it really helped his understanding of art and creation of it. So we want to encourage that with her. The staff was one gentleman that ran the store when we came in and he directed us to the color, pencils and a nice notebook to do her drawings. Thank you so much. You should've heard her excitement when she saw what we got her ... it was payday. The store was spacious and wonderfully full shelves that we could find and choose whatever we wanted for our artistic needs. The staff, the gentleman that helped us was for a pleasant and helpful and informative. He assisted my wife several times and myself I was pretty good on my own, but he did give me some assistance in one area. The quality of the merchandise they have there is very very good. All your budding artists need to drop down there and see what you can find. read more

All around terrible experience. Treated like a thief. Was not greeted but was followed all throughout store. Bad vibes all throughout store. Owners are very negative and rude. Besides the very negative vibes, their selection was great and prices were reasonable. read more

Loveeee it here. Staff is super friendly & always helpful. So many options for all your artist activities. Paper, canvas, pencils, paint, brushes, all the goodies. Arizona Art Supply is a fantastic resource for both aspiring hobbyists and fine artists alike. I had the pleasure of meeting Julián, who always goes above and beyond to help me improve my art. His recommendations for materials and colors were exactly what I needed to move my medium forward and he has helped me figure things out every time I visit, boosting my confidence and creativity. The store also has the largest selection of art supplies I've seen in the state of AZ at decent prices. I particularly appreciate their selection of colors, mediums and fine papers -- including materials from Japan, all in which I am rarely if ever able to find in person and get answers to questions on no less from actual artists. Thank you, Julián, and Arizona Art Supply, for your expertise and support! Highly recommend this store for anyone pursuing their artistic journey. read more

Wow! I've never received such poor and unfortunate treatment in my life! I was never greeted like the "other" customers but was completely ignored and dismissed. I was shocked to learn the man { Randall} who pleasantjy welcomed "others" into the store but looked at me as if i were a ghost is the Manager! Never would I give this non inclusive business my business!!! Thank God I have options! read more

Great selection and good prices. Really very helpful employees. I like that it's not crowded feeling. Lots of space to move about the cabin, as they say. I went twice while I was in town and found everything I needed. Go, check them out! read more

I believe that YELP needs to review its guidelines pertaining to reviews left on its site. It was my understanding that this platform was for the purpose of reviewing products and services. Not for the purpose of maligning individuals and presenting a forum for individuals to pursue their personal vendettas. Alyssa G. unfortunately has some personal issues and perhaps she should seek some professional help for her anger issues. I digress, I have shopped with Arizona Art Supply for over 20 years and have always found their staff and management to be courteous and helpful. They have gone out of their way to procure items for my special projects that other stores said wasn't available and they have done it quickly with great efficiency. They have supported the art communities, art education and art leagues for many years and continue to do so. I personally know the owners to be caring and compassionate employers toward their employees. I am calling on YELP to do a little policing on their site and remove comments that nothing more than vindictive poppycock. read more

There are no art supply stores in the CA desert where I live. So, when we were in town for spring training, I checked out this great store. I'm using lots of different mediums and they had supplies for everything!! They carry good quality paints and supplies - picked up M.Graham gouache, Daniel Smith watercolors, pan pastels and even some R&F pigment sticks for my encaustics. They had a big display of Posca markers, Golden acrylics and good quality brushes. Plus, they were super helpful! Support local business!! read more

I've never been one for doing art. Always wanted to make something, never had any ideas of what I could make, so seeing this store, I thought I'd walk in and give it a whirl.... Nope, my conscious is telling me to stick with art in the music form!!! Far far too many loose pieces/parts with zero picture image/idea of what to create! Hmmm.... I REALLY admire those ppl who creatively know how to do arts and crafts. This is exactly the type of stuff If like to do on a daily basis when I'm in a retirement facility... as currently all the money I spend in places like this ends up in the trash... which is where it belongs after I try making things. I've learned to spend my money buying things that are made... but this stroll through memory lane of wishing sure is enjoyable Arizona art supply store! read more

Always great to go to this store. The selection is good and the employees are very sweet and helpful! Bypass Michaels and go here!!

Wonderful place. My boyfriend and I frequent this store as we are both artists and they have absolutely everything we've needed.

Really well organized and easy to find anything you may be looking for on the artist supply side. We popped in for just a minute but we will for sure go back when we are in need of more canvases and paints. The staff was friendly and offered up help in guiding us to anything we may have been looking to find. Overall: A A little bit of a drive from our house, but definitely has more to offer than Michael's or JoAnn's - and at better prices - in regards to art supplies! read more

My favorite store! Very pricey even with a student discount I've learned 2 pretend 2 be a AI student and get my Windsors there @ the AI student store along with prismas. AI student store is cheap on culinary kits as well & Aaron brothers has better quality brushes read more

I am an artist and shop at art stores quite a lot. There is an ever-increasing ease of shopping online, for easier service and candidly better prices. In spite of this, I try to shop locally to support. So I went to AZ Art Supply on Friday afternoon. I arrived close to closing time, (I was told this three times before I reached for a cart) and proceeded to look to restock my art studio. Candidly, I was looking to splurge. I felt rushed and disrespected the entire time I was in the store. They weren't interested in me as a customer, but rather getting the store shut down and me pushed out. By the time I made it to the register, with not even close to what I was going to purchase, I was frustrated. I was "greeted" with, "We are trying to close up", I then responded with "Yes, I am aware of that as everyone one of the employees me this". I asked to speak with a manager, and Michael who was the rudest to me said he was the manager. I then decided NOT to purchase my items and ask for the owner's information. I called back today and asked for the owner or a manager I could speak with; initially, the person I spoke with got agitated with me even though my tone and words were even and not aggressive. He then hung up on me. I called back and was forwarded to I'm assuming a manager who did listen to my concern. I won't go back to AZ Art Supply because they took the service OUT of Customer service. Oh yeah, Friday night after leaving AZ Art, I drove 20 minutes away from AZ Art and shopped at Jerry's Artarama of Tempe. I see that a Susan has responded to my review from over a month ago. My name isn't Mike and your response does not reflect that you read my review OR understand customer service for me or Mike. read more

Over the last 20 y ears I have shopped at Arizona Art Supply many times and spent quite a bit of money there. The Scottsdale store was convenient for me and while their prices were high I went when I needed something quickly. I found most of the staff to be inexperienced and knew very little about the products in the store and often gave me misinformation. This store is closed now which is no surprise and so I have gone to the Phoenix store which really is not any better. They are also not customer friendly in any way and only had their staff wear masks when it was mandated by the City. They wanted me to leave my handbag at the front desk and I refused. If they don't trust me with their stuff why should I trust them with mine? This is what security cameras are for. No more AZ Art Supply for me. I will shop at the other local stores and online from now on. read more

The OG fine art supply store. The best for hobbyists; artists looking "for the good authentic shit" and everything in-between. The people working in the store always seem like real artists or art students, people with good ideas, advice, and who seem to actually like art. If I'm not sure where to buy an art/design supply, AZ Art Supply is my first go-to resource. They either have it or know where to find it! read more

This place is super convenient for me and everyone is always nice there. I don't find it to be that big of a deal to leave my purse in the car. They generally have what I need. The prices are a tad higher than other places but convenience and shopping local make it worth it to me. read more

I love Arizona Art Supply! I've shopped there since I was in high school. They have a wonderful selection of supplies and the staff is so experienced and helpful. I think it's important to support our local brick and mortar shops. Arizona Art supply makes that easy! read more

The sales person was informative and seemed to know his products . Their prices seemed competitive too.

Sadly, this local art store has lost another local customer. Living in phx I have frequented az art supply but honestly I'd rather just take the trek to go to Jerry's! The prices are high and I wouldn't mind the prices if the customer service made up for it. There seems to be one person who's been there for years while the rest of the workers come and go. Sadly I'm sure it's not a great work environment because they treat customers poorly. read more

I purchased a gift card from Arizona Art Supply for a young friend who turned 17 during the pandemic. I planned to hand deliver it in her, but I inadvertently stacked it with some mail to be taken to the post office and it was lost in the mail (only her name was on the envelope). I contacted Arizona Art Supply and they were so helpful and prompt in cancelling the card and re-issuing another one. Excellent customer service. read more

=Jetta is a real person, not a childhood memory waiting to be parodied for comedic effect to lend humor to an otherwise worthless review. Don't worry though, we found one.= JETTA When my professor said we needed Japanese sumi-e brushes and ink for our class, I freaked out a little. SKELETOR I would have incinerated the blasted fool! Just watch him try to charge me a lab fee and insist I bring in my own supplies! JETTA I had never even heard of this stuff, let alone know where to find it. Everyone suggested I get it online, but I couldn't risk showing up for class without them because of a shipping delay. SKELETOR Shipping!? Have your minions raid their warehouses! JETTA Somebody suggested Arizona Art Supply, and I was really surprised to see their selection and reasonable prices. I found my brushes and ink, and even one of those crazy multi-colored pencils. The staff was very helpful, especially the manager. She might've been the owner. I don't know. SKELETOR Who needs customer service when you've got a staff that shoots...I think it's magic? JETTA Since I brought my class syllabus, I got a discount and a free portfolio, which they retrieved from back since they ran out of promotional ones. SKELETOR I have a portfolio for all of my doodles. It was fashioned out of the hides of my enemies! JETTA Will you cut it out? I'm trying to do a testimonial. SKELETOR "Cut it out?" Who do you think you are? Dave Coulier? I'm fucking Skeletor, The Evil Lord of Destruction! You know what happened to the last person who told me to "cut it out"? I heat him to death with his own skull! JETTA If you don't mind, I'm trying to do a real review for once. SKELETOR You? Real review? Ha! I'll believe that when I see Prince Adam and He-Man in the same room. JETTA He-Man was a bitch. She-Ra was way better. SKELETOR Why are you visiting art supply stores, anyway? I always thought you were more of a "performing arts" type. JETTA My advisor said it would be good to expand my horizons. SKELETOR See? This is why you'd make a horrible arch-villain! "My advisor told me this, my advisor told me that..." Screw your advisor! She's a pencil-pushing simpleton! Hang her from a cage over a bottomless abyss! Cast a curse upon her and her family! CHRIST! I don't need this. I fought the Masters of the Universe! JETTA Hey, while you're here, just between us, can I ask you a question? Are you a lich? SKELETOR A lich? JETTA You know, the whole skull-head thing you got going on. I thought maybe you were a lich. SKELETOR Fool, I am an evil genius, not some Dungeons and Dragons monster. I'm outta here. I got lunch with Megatron at the titty bar. JETTA Right. So. Arizona Art Supply. Good wares and 'mom and pop shop' customer service with discount prices. If you need art supplies, you should go there, and not just because, you know, it's "local". Although you should always shop locally, when you can. Places like Wal-Mart ruin local businesses, and bring nothing but misery and poverty wherever they go. Hey, where are you going? I'm not done. No, wait, I'm not--- BEWARE! THE SHOPOCALYPSE IS UPON US! BARGAIN BUYERS, REPENT! read more

I walked int0 Arizona Art Supply and fell in love. I moved downtown 2 years ago, and I've never quite gotten my craft room up and running. But I had a particular project in mind, and stopped by the shop on a weekend for some spray adhesive. I struggled to find a place to lock up my bike. They lose a star for this, as everyone does in my world. Ended up locking to a sign in the middle of the parking lot. Once inside, I was dazzled by the available materials. I hadn't been in an art store for a year. To make matters even better, they were playing the soundtrack from Amelie, and the cashier was a handsome tattooed young man. I will regularly visit for inspiration and supplies. This place is a treasure. read more

There are really no words to describe the vastness of the selection in this store. They have almost everything you could possibly need to create any type of art! -Friendly and helpful staff. The cashier even suggested a cool add-on product near the register. -A diverse and large selection of art supplies not found at the big box chain stores. Attended an oil painting class there recently and so enjoyed the class and afterwards the instructor took us around to point out the types and brands of art supplies she uses and recommends. I was so amazed at the full selection of art supplies and equipment there - all well organized and at great prices. The people who work all seemed knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The sign on the door reminds us to support local business if we want to have local business - and in art supplies you really need to see and handle the items you are considering, so we definitely do want local art stores and this one is centrally located as well. read more

I'd recommend this art supply store for professional fine artists and graphic artists, but NOT for occasional dabblers/hobbyists/crafters. The supplies they stock are high-quality, professional artist-grade materials, i.e. EXPENSIVE for the most part. If you are not absolutely sure of what you want and just want to try something out, DON'T come here because you might inadvertently spend a fortune. This is NOT the place to buy student-grade (lower-quality) art supplies. But if you are a serious artist, and have a good idea of what you need, you will likely find exactly what you are looking for. If you need advice on materials, the staff is very helpful. Once I brought in a tiny stub of charcoal that was the only one in my art kit that just felt right and made the most beautiful marks. This sweet young lady tested it for me and pronounced it a "6B" grade of charcoal and found some more for me. Now I'm happy because I have a whole stash of 6B charcoal sticks. Excellent selection of various graphite pencils and charcoals that are priced lower than the hobby/craft stores. This is the best art supply store in Phoenix, however if you are in the East Valley there are a couple of good stores also. 10-20% Discounts for students, teachers and AZ Artist Guild members. TIP: Ask to see the kneaded eraser sculptures at the cash register. read more

I bought a $50 watercolor pallet a week ago. I decided I did not like the solid cakes and came in a few days ago with my unused set (the only cake I used was the white one) and receipt looking to do an in-store exchange for watercolor tubes. I was told by one employee that if I replaced the white cake, that I could do the exchange. So the next day (yesterday) I drove all the way to the art store WITH THE REPLACED WHITE CAKE only to be told by a manager that I could not do the exchange because I "took the plastic coverings off the cakes and did not have the box it came in. Store policy blah blah blah." (I understand store policy but I was told one thing one day and a different thing the next day, not cool.) I then spoke to one of the employees who was there the day that I was told I could do the exchange and he just acted like he didn't know what I was talking about and told me "it must have just been a misunderstanding." (on my end) I am extremely upset because I felt I had been lied to was essentially told that I didn't know what I was talking about. I was ridden with anxiety all day yesterday due to this experience As much as I like coming here and supporting local business, I'm just going to buy some tube watercolors from Amazon.com purely so I don't ever have to deal with Arizona Art Supply again. One positive thing I can say about the store is that their selection is huge and there are about two employees that are very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Arizona Art Supply - Art Supplies Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I visited Arizona Art Supply a couple of weeks ago and do not recommend it. Although the staff was friendly and helped me find everything I needed, they gave me some of the wrong supplies. I trusted the employees with finding the correct scalpel and blade that I needed for class with the exact type and size listed. They told me that they found the exact ones but I am now discovering not only did they give me a different brand, but the blade won't even fit the scalpel. Not only that but I feel like I wasted money because the supplies were much more expensive than they would have been at Blick. I only came here because Blick was sold out of most of the items I needed. Save your money. ASU students- wait for Blick to restock or find a different store. At Arizona Art Supplies they are more concerned about making a quick buck than keeping a customer. read more
