Finally putting a review after 6 years and its with mixed feelings as I finally pulled my daughter…read moreout. The Positives that kept me re enrolling for 6 years: Staff: I always loved the staff especially the person who always helped fit my daughter dance shoes. They were friendly and always responded to questions. Location: Close and easier to find drop off in a safe neighborhood. The Costumes: For the Most part the costumes are beautiful and it even got better this past year end performance. The staff puts a lot of thought into this. Dance Teachers: kids friendly not strict at all (could be good or bad) The Venue:Santa Clara convention center is a great venue. Many other dance studios can't afford this size venue. Negatives: Repetitive program. You will hear the same songs after 2 years. Simple moves: If you are not in the comp team, you won't learn much after 2 yrs. My daughter said 3 years ago, she learned 3 new moves, 2 years ago she learned 1 new move. Last year she didn't learn ANY new moves. Now as I search for other dance studios, she's already behind for her age group for non comp classes. It's hard to continue paying increasing fees without seeing progress. All I wait for is one fancy year end show with beautiful costumes.... I hope they hire new dance teachers that can dance like their star comp team girls.

We did move forward with the Toddler class, which I really appreciated that they offer a hands-off class. Every kid is different, and I feel great where the kids participate independently. It's been fun watching her grow in confidence while having so much fun. Her teacher does a great job keeping a room full of toddlers engaged, and the class has a predictable flow that's perfect for this age. It gives the kids structure while keeping it playful. Plus, seeing all the little dancers in their tutus and leotards is just adorable. I also love that they offer an optional spring recital, along with pop-up events and summer camps throughout the year. As a parent, I appreciate the open viewing area where you can comfortably watch class. They also offer makeup classes when possible (I believe on a case-by-case basis), which is a nice option with little ones. Just a heads-up that there isn't a parent restroom, but there's a Smart & Final right next door if needed. Overall, it's been a wonderful dance experience for my daughter. It feels like they're creating a fun, welcoming community, and I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

She sees the ones that aren't participating and gently tries to include them. It's a clean facility because it's new. I don't mind so much that my child is laying on the floor sometimes. They cover a lot during the interactive class, from games to story time to fun "drills" like hopping, galloping, skipping, etc. They have different props each class. Yes they do teach ballet, but definitely in a fun way that's engaging for the girls. They have special events like Elsa event that we did and it was enjoyable. I recommend those events too.

She then accepted Miss Linda's invitation to join SJDT for her entire senior year. That was absolutely the right decision! My daughter's ballet skills improved to the point where she won an award for ballet at a multi-genre dance convention and was accepted into multiple college dance major programs! My wife and I are grateful to amazing instructors Miss Sian, Mister David, Miss Mariana and, of course, Artistic Director Linda Hurkmans for helping our daughter succeed in her dance goals. I started learning dance with Ceech with very little dance experience. I've taken a few dance…read moreclasses elsewhere but with Ceech, the learning experience has been more rewarding. He focuses on making your foundational skills more solid. For a beginner, it's easy to rush to look cool but with Ceech, a lot of patience is involved from him into making a move really solid. This is exactly what I'm looking for from my dance coach -grounding the basic moves really well. In helping his students get to a move, I appreciate the progressive approach he takes into getting to the final move. Not only does Ceech break it down into smaller and easier steps, he also improvises progressive steps that starts from the easier moves that leads to the more complicated moves and eventually to the move we're trying to nail down. He does this based on what he observes real time about your situation and your current dance skills so I actually end up learning the move faster than if I were to just practice the harder move 10,000 times. I also appreciate Ceech's knowledge in dance in general. I also share my experience from my other dance classes with him and sometimes we talk about moves from my other classes as well. You can also learn a lot about the history of hip hop from him, for those who are interested. So far, I've had about 6-7 lessons with Ceech but I do see myself learning from him long term. Highly recommend Ceech to anyone who's looking to get serious about hip hop.
