Whether it's to improve your salsa dancing techniques or perform/compete with other teams, Montuno gots you covered! I joined last summer of 2018, with Isidro Corona running the show. Initially I joined with the intention of improving my technique, rather than performing. Now that we're about to perform soon, I'm excited and anxious! :D So, regardless of your goal, whether you're just starting out and perhaps wanting to learn the basic steps, or learn to style, or extra extra fancy stuff -- they got-chu. Plus, you can take it to another level and ask to have private sessions to really focus on what you want, outside of the typical class or group thing, which really goes a long way. What are you waiting for? Obviously you want it, or you wouldn't be reading this :D. Dance on, and don't forget to have fun! read more

Montuno Dance Company is the best dance team I've ever practiced and performed for. I've met some of my best friends. I've also learned a lot of great patterns and footwork from Isidro Corona to use on the social dance floor. read more

I joined Montuno dance company about 7 months ago in July, 2017 and haven't looked anywhere else since then. Prior to joining Montuno dance I had about 4 years of Salsa dancing experience and considered myself as an intermediate dancer, but after joining Montuno dance I found that even in the beginners level Isidro Corona (Montuno dance director, 5 times Salsa world Champion) breaks down the basics in so much detail which I never took time to think about and thus I have been taking both beginners and intermediate classes with Montuno dance ever since. In my dance journey of last 5 years, I have met very few instructors who teach with pure passion and Isidro is one of them. Also, salsa private lessons with Isidro are also highly recommended. read more

Isidro trains his students with a whole lot of rigor and intensity. When I first started taking classes at salsa clubs, I thought I had it in the bag. But once I stepped foot into Isidro's training classes, the intricate details of the dance came to my immediate (and urgent!) attention. In his humble fashion, Isidro lent his expertise similar to the way a karate master would: You feel like you know absolutely NOTHING and from that space, all things can be created. Isidro and Ariel always encouraged me to bring in my hip hop experience to dance. They've showed me how to perform, what 'faces' to use (expressions), where to put the weight on various parts of my feet, how to lengthen myself - all details that I would never get from a traditional beginner or even advanced salsa class. They take isolations very seriously and because of that, strangers have stopped me to ask, "Do you dance ballet or something?" All based on my form. I have learned a world of knowledge from these world-class experts and I highly recommend them. read more

I moved to the Bay Area about 1.5 years ago and I was looking to sign up for a class to get back into salsa dancing and I have to say, I'm so happy I went to Montuno. All of Isidro's classes, workshops, training material, etc has so much content and focus on technique, that you will end up becoming a better dancer! Of course you have to put in the hard work for it, but that's what he does for you. He brings out the best in you and pushes you out of your comfort zone. If you are serious about your salsa dancing and want to take it to the next level, then Montuno is definitely the place to be!! I know my dancing has improved tremendously and I have so much more to learn here. I have ended up with a great set of Montuno friends who are like a small family. It's been one of the best experiences I've had here in the Bay Area. read more

Before I started going to Montuno Dance Company about 2 years ago, I had been social dancing for several years but had never gotten any formal training or taken any technique classes. Since working with Isidro, my dancing has improved so much! He really takes the time to focus on the basics to start turning you into a quality dancer. Also, being a part of one of Isidro's performing teams gave me the opportunity to perform for the first time, and I have been performing every season since. If you are interested in performing, there are challenging, energetic, and dynamic routines for all levels of dancers. In addition to the dancing, I've also made so many memories and friends through MDC. So if you are looking to take your dancing to the level alongside fun and encouraging people, I highly recommend you come check out Montuno! read more

Montuno Dance was my first salsa encounter ever. I was never a social dancer or performer before (only little ballet recitals). And frankly MDC turned it into an obsession and took over my life. I just wanted to get better. And I learned something new every time I left the studio. You can imagine how personally rewarding it was. My team and my coaches became family. Unfortunately I had to move out of state, but more than ever I appreciated that my first 2 years of training were with Isidro. All those hours working on my basic (haha. But seriously) has set the foundation for my dance life. To this day I think about techniques he taught me every time I dance. I've recommended Montuno to all my friends and family and strangers and now finally to you Yelpers. If you're serious about improving, really this is the best place to get started and grow beyond what you imagine for yourself. Yay!!! read more

Montuno Dance Company - Montuno dancers can be seen on bigger stages today like WLDC but this was a big one for me back then! Thanks Isidro! - Dance Studios Near Me - Milpitas, California

I've been with Montuno for about 6 months and wow - what an amazing team! Isidro is an unbelievable teacher and truly believes everyone can succeed if they are willing to put in the work. There is a huge focus on proper basics and technique before laying on, which builds strength, balance, and consistency. I'm having a blast - I always look forward to rehearsals and practice, and leave energized and better than I was the day before. :) Highly recommend Montuno for anyone looking to improve their salsa skills in a challenging yet supportive environment. read more

First time taking a salsa class with isidro, it was amazing. I learned a lot in just one class, he was very knowledgeable and made me feel confortable and confident. I did some research on MDC before reaching out to schedule a class and I made the best decision. I had such a great experience that I sign up for his 8 week salsa series. read more

My prior team was so disorganized, costly and unprofessional. Montuno is great, wasn't sure what to expect at first but they lived up to the rumors about being top 5. Directors Jim, Isidro and Martha, couldn't say enough positive things about there kind, patient, fun and amazing ability to teach. I feel blessed to be a part of this team. read more

I joined the company 4.5 years ago and have learned tremendously from Isidro. He is a talented instructor who can truly break down complex salsa movements and explain in a way students can understand and practice on. Isidro is also a great choreographer and team coach who has produced world-class dance teams and competitive dancers. Whether you are a salsa beginner looking to pick up a new hobby, a social dancer who wants to improve, or a serious competitor who wants to get to the next level, Isidro is your guy. Highly recommended! read more

After spending a few months at a well known franchise dance studio, I realized I was not happy with the level of instruction. I searched around and was lucky enough to run across the Montuno Dance Instagram page. I signed up for the 8 week beginner salsa course and have not looked back since. Coaches are competitors, well trained, and friendly. Here I find the perfect mix of being pushed to be the best dancer I can be and also having a ton of fun in the process. Can not recommend highly enough. Also prices are a complete steal for the level of instruction that is provided. read more

Wow!!! Montuno dance company is amazing!!!! I've finally found a school with qualified dance instructors. I was referred by my best friend. She said that Asidro is a master at breaking down complex body movements of Salsa, piece by piece. Well I'm happy to say, that his 8 week series was worth every penny, and then some. No matter what your level, Asidro will make you look and feel like a dance pro. For me it was body rhythm. I was able to keep time to the music and I could execute very basic dance patterns, but I didn't look or feel like a dancer. What I learned here was that dance is a whole body team sport, we need to train the whole team to work together, that includes your elbows, knees, ankles, chest, feet, head, etc. The great thing about Asidro is that he has the patience and qualifications to teach the necessary drills and technique needed to train your whole body to dance. And it's stuff you can actually take home and practice by yourself. Last thing. If you're like me and like to ask lots of questions, you need not worry, he always replies with a smile :) I've been training with Montuno for 4 months, I started just before the holidays, now I'm getting ready to join the armature team, very excited about this big move! Come say hello, Patrick read more

I started salsa dancing a year before joining Montuno Dance Company. I have joined group classes here and there but always felt that I did not get much out of it. I decided to join Montuno Dance Company and it completely changed my dancing and life in general. Isidro emphasized on basic techniques, which is the most important base to have and completely change the way a beginner dance. He also have a lot of faith in people and gives a lot of opportunity to students. Watching the way he and the other coaches work hard motivated me to want to work hard more. If I have not mentioned yet, they are all very caring and understanding and have become my second family now. I have been dancing with Montuno for 2 years now, I enjoyed every practice and performance that shaped me from a total amateur beginner to being able to join the semi pro team now. If you are full of energy and crave for challenge or simply just want to improve your dancing, I highly recommended Montuno Dance Company! read more

I have been dancing with Isidro for about 2.5 years now. I didn't have any dance experience prior and Isidro has been extremely open and patient with me as I learn technique and grow. His focus on technique is what sets him apart from many of the other teams. Being part of this team has not only helped me to become a better dancer but has created a passion within me that I never knew I had. It has also provided me the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and make amazing friends. read more

I've been taking salsa at Montuno Dance for about a year and have to say Isidro's class has definitely improved my dancing. As far as I know, Isidro is the only instructor actually taking the time to teach technique. No only do you learn standard salsa steps, you learn the correct way to do them based on proper weight placement, resulting in the kind of hip movement you want to have in salsa. Each class generally starts with review and practice of these basics, and then leads to partnering. Partnering also includes technique such as proper hand placement and pressure, with the addition of styling. Oh, and if you like to spin, Montuno is known for its dancers' spins, and you'll learn what goes into that awesome technique. Montuno also offers performing teams in salsa and bachata. After seeing their salsa teams perform, I was inspired to join the beginning team and really enjoyed it due to the awesome, caring coaches (thanks Jim and Martha), fun routine, and friendly fellow team members. Performance salsa is another way to enhance your dance abilities through focus on technique, styling, and musicality. And all of this carries over to social dancing, too - I've had social dance partners tell me they've noticed the improvement! So if you want to improve your skills as a dancer while challenging yourself AND having fun, Montuno is the place! read more
