Her teacher, Miss Tina, is incredibly patient, fun, and just so good with young kids -- she really knows how to keep them engaged while building their confidence. The studio is run by Miss Torie, who is also fantastic -- warm, organized, and clearly passionate about creating a positive space for dancers of all ages. They host recitals every December and May, which are such a special opportunity for the kids to showcase what they've learned. You can tell how tight-knit the dance community is -- dancers of all ages cheer each other on, and the energy at the recitals is amazing. It's been a great introduction to dance for my daughter, and I'd highly recommend this studio to any family looking for a fun, supportive, and well-run program.

She transitioned from ballet classes at another studio and found her love for other types of dance with ASI. The staff here is so warm and welcoming and the teachers are so talented. My daughter was taking the Tap/Jazz combo classes and Hip Hop. I've been blown away by the care the instructors have for the students, which reflects the care that Ms. Torie has with her staff. The choreography in the Hip Hop class is world-class and not to be missed. My son even took the summer Hip Hop sessions to get a taste of how fun it was! I also love how there are different tracks for recreational dance and competition. The dance showcases are also so fun to watch and really do demonstrate just how talented the dancers are! The overall feel at the studio is one of family and I haven't had that experience anywhere else. Highly recommend this studio for any aspiring dancer!

Then came covid in 2020 and I stopped dancing entirely up until 2024 where I had to start over again and luckily I found Hermosura Dance Productions (HDP). I've been taking bachata classes at HDP for about 6-7 months now and I must say that Helen is a fantastic teacher! She focuses on building a strong foundation to make you a better dancer which other schools just don't teach which I wish I had engrained in me when I first started dancing. On top of the fundamentals, Helen teaches nice patterns that allow you to dance with people of different levels (as a leader, this has been great!). She also provides constructive feedback during class to help you improve your dancing as well as understand how it is danced (e.g. in bachata you are pushing the floor with your feet). I highly recommend going to HDP for classes or tailored lessons, depending on your needs. Helen teaches many styles of dance from salsa on 1 (and on 2), cumbia, bachata, and rueda. Even if you've never danced before, you will be welcomed to class as if you were a regular so don't be afraid to sign up for your first class!

I was so nervous to go to my first Beginner Salsa class back in February, but those nerves were quickly calmed with Helen's warm and passionate approach to teaching dance, even at the beginner level. She takes great care to not only teach the steps and general concepts, but to incorporate style and good technique each step of the way. Her skills of observation are on another level (truly, come see for yourself!) and her instruction is accessible to anyone, new or seasoned. Group classes are safe and supportive spaces where all are welcome; I always leave feeling inspired to continue learning, excited for what we'll do in the next class. Even transitioning to Intermediate/Advanced (you can take Beginner and Int./Adv. together, I just preferred to master the basics first), I didn't feel out of place for a minute. Everyone comes with a great attitude, led by our fearless leader Helen, who never fails to bring positive energy to the group. Finding joy in dance is easy at Hermosura Dance Productions. If you're debating whether to try it out, this is your sign; you won't regret it!

I cannot recommend this dance studio for parents looking to lift up young girls…read more My daughter was interested in Kpop dancing, and is in an awkward bubble age of being too old (~10) for the "mini" class and at the cusp of too young for the"Junior" pre-teen class. She definitely isn't a great dancer, but she practices and tries her hardest. This is just a fun class for girls, not elite or comp. Things started off well but then she started leaving with tears in her eyes. She says that the teacher was leaving her out of the routine and so she was sitting around most of the time, not understanding why. No explanation. I urgently asked for a callback to understand the situation. No callback. I asked the teacher, Mr Garret, next week in person. He says she wasn't getting it but he would include her more. I asked him to speak to her about her so she could feel supported and understand and how she can improve. He says he didn't have time to talk to her and said he would next week. He never did. Not excusable. My daughter continued to come back with tears in her eyes. She says that 2 other girls were giggling and laughing when she made a mistake. She didn't want to make a fuss or quit before the performance. The performance came, and she fell behind in the rehearsal. She told me a few days later that everyone laughed at her. She just did box breathing to focus and did great in the performance. It was a proud moment for our family. *I then receive an email saying that she needs to go to the class where she is overaged OR just take the SAME class but on a different day to free up space for a better dance*. Reason: she wasn't dancing well enough; wasn't fitting in socially; the class was "full" and she's kicked out. Wait, she's still being invited to the same skill but on a different day despite being a bad dancer? I was shocked and disappointed. Instead of optimizing for the culture of the class, they instead optimize against the student for not fitting in. She's not a great dancer, but she's young, tried hard, and was trying to fit in even with tears in her eyes every day. We have dropped Purdance with no hesitation and she now uses her experience as her way of being able to hold her breath to perform amidst an unsupportive environment.

I received Cricket's. I did not receive A reply which I found shocking. I finally sent another email message to Kaylee and she responded. But they made sure to charge us each month she wasn't there. I have never more happy about a decision I've made. Not only has she drastically improved in just two years, getting a title, scholarships and awards to boot. But, more importantly we've found a new incredible family. These kids and parents all truly care about each other and it's so beautiful. No drama just unbelievable support and great vibes. The teachers are the most amazing humans who truly care about your kid and have a great balance of cheering them on and guiding them to their best potential. I adore every single one of them. They have given my daughter (and I) so much love and support that I'm forever grateful for. I also take their adult classes which has been the most amazing experience for me as well. Yes, it's great fitness and fun. But it has also honestly been such a light in my life on my darkest days and been so great for my mental health. You get the same incredible teachers and amazing supportive community. Who knew one trial class could change our lives so much for the better? Forever grateful for our new family!

The Positives that kept me re enrolling for 6 years: Staff: I always loved the staff especially the person who always helped fit my daughter dance shoes. They were friendly and always responded to questions. Location: Close and easier to find drop off in a safe neighborhood. The Costumes: For the Most part the costumes are beautiful and it even got better this past year end performance. The staff puts a lot of thought into this. Dance Teachers: kids friendly not strict at all (could be good or bad) The Venue:Santa Clara convention center is a great venue. Many other dance studios can't afford this size venue. Negatives: Repetitive program. You will hear the same songs after 2 years. Simple moves: If you are not in the comp team, you won't learn much after 2 yrs. My daughter said 3 years ago, she learned 3 new moves, 2 years ago she learned 1 new move. Last year she didn't learn ANY new moves. Now as I search for other dance studios, she's already behind for her age group for non comp classes. It's hard to continue paying increasing fees without seeing progress. All I wait for is one fancy year end show with beautiful costumes.... I hope they hire new dance teachers that can dance like their star comp team girls.
