Similar to what many of the other reviews have mentioned, the energy of the owner is unfortunately pretty off putting. While you would expect a yoga studio to foster an environment of serenity, instead Cynthia was manic and agitated. There was little focus on the students and rather seemed as though she wanted to use the class to vent to us, telling random stories and anecdotes and just in general being dismissive or borderline rude when responding to students. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it was certainly not the experience that i am looking for and i will definitely be avoiding this studio in the future. read more

2nd class done! Had the opportunity to join my gym bro and his daughter and it was once again such a wonderful experience. Emily was our instructor and once again made the class such a welcoming and encouraging environment. One of the main things I appreciate for the way she teaches is suggestions on how to alter certain movements if you aren't able to elongate/reach full flexibility. I've surprised myself with certain movements as Emily proposes ways you're able to extend body parts to eventually achieve the full elongation. This is your sign to book a class read more

Just got my six month pass for this studio! All the teachers are so welcoming and patient. I always feel weightless after class not to mention how good I sleep after. Cynthia is great for when you need that extra push she makes sure all students are in form. I also enjoy Jeff's classes they are so relaxing. read more

MY BACKGROUND I discovered this studio through Classpass. I have been practicing yoga for well over a decade and have done other hot yoga classes specifically at CorePower Yoga, but have not tried Bikram Yoga specifically. I also do HIIT and attend Orangetheory 3-4x a week. I was fully aware prior to attending the class that Bikram Yoga is the hottest form of yoga reaching 105 degrees and that the session is 90 minutes long. I would not sign up for the class if I was not confident I was capable of completing it. THE FACILITIES I showed up 15 minutes before class as suggested and was able to find a parking spot right up front. The email instructions were very clear on where to find the studio. They are located on the second floor above the Poke restaurant. Upon entering, the receptionist was very pleasant. I told her it was my first class so she helped me check in and explained where the restrooms, changing rooms, and lockers were. The studio itself is very rundown and old compared to other studios. The changing rooms were very makeshift and didn't feel clean. The restrooms are also a shared public restroom with the other businesses. I was also FLABBERGASTED that they do not provide a water refill station, but instead charge $3 for a Kirkland water bottle. I had a reusable bottle with me and did not have time to refill it before leaving work and assumed a refill station would be a BASIC amenity for any gym/studio. This is bikram yoga and they don't provide water?! Do they want people to die?! Because it was my first class they offered me a bottle for free as a courtesy. THE CLASS/THE INSTRUCTOR As for the class itself, I was not informed of the locations of the heaters prior to entering the classroom by the receptionist so unbeknownst to me, I picked a spot that was directly next to the heaters. This is a crucial piece of information that she should have shared so I could have placed myself appropriately since again it was my first class. Although I found the class to certainly be doable while still challenging (given my level of experience), I found it extremely difficult to understand the instructor's instructions. She spoke EXTREMELY fast and her speech was very mumbled - it was nearly impossible to make out the words she was saying. In addition, she did not demonstrate any of the poses. So not only could I not hear what she was saying, I also could not see visually what to do. I was able to follow along based on viewing my peers. It would be helpful if she used actual names of the poses. Something I really did not appreciate is that she singled me out CONSTANTLY that it was my first class and repeatedly asked me if I was okay and insisted I not attempt certain poses and to only watch for my first class. I understand she is being cautious for safety concerns, however I know my own body and my limitations. There was no point during the class that I made it seem that I was struggling or could not perform or keep up. I think I fared extremely well. Because I would take a break to have a sip of water or wipe my sweat with a towel she would bring attention to me unnecessarily. There was also one occasion that I started with the opposite leg for a pose but I continued because I didn't see an issue with carrying on - I would eventually do the other leg anyway. But she berated me and essentially stopped the class for a moment and said that I needed to be uniform with the rest of the class when I'm sure absolutely no one noticed or cared. She really made me feel self conscious and uncomfortable for the remainder of the class. For that, I did not have a positive experience at this studio. read more

Discover this place from ClassPass. The instructor Cynthia was absolutely amazing. Although this was a group class Cynthia really gave her attention to everyone and help individualize the needs of each student read more

I was looking to try hot yoga for the first time and came across this little gem of a studio in Milpitas. The classes are challenging but the instructors are super helpful to guide you though the poses and help answer any questions you have about form. The studio is a mix of both new and advanced students so you can feel comfortable coming in even as a beginner. If you are ready to test your physical and mental limits I would recommend trying out one of Cynthia's classes she will give you great workout! read more

I have been coming here for almost 2 months. I have been to many bikram studio all over the Bay Area! By far this is my favorite studio. I come here to practice yoga so I don't really care about other things like a fancy shower or bathroom. I love how hot the room gets, it makes me sweat a lot. The owner Cynthia is wonderful and Jeff is so awesome! I highly recommend this place if you really want to burn some fat. I have lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks and my skin literally glows now! And for those of you have any spine pain and any joint pains, you must try it! My wrist was in pain for 3 months and after 2 weeks it healed 100%!!!!!!! read more

I recently relocated from the peninsula to the South Bay and visited Bikram Yoga Milpitas, I really enjoyed my practice. The owner/instructor was so warm and welcoming, and I can't wait to go back. They are in the process of some remodeling but regardless of it not being all together yet the space is still gorgeous. I love the floor and I look forward to the finished product. read more

The studio is ok... one shower, small changing room, but ok. We came on a groupon for 5 classes, and after 4, they told us we were done, which was incorrect. They just don't like groupons. So, don't offer them! 2 of the instructors we had were great... Manny & Cindy. However, remember ABC: Anyone but Cynthia. She is terrible. She was rude to us when we checked in. We took her class, she is hard to understand, and tells stories in between the postures, which makes us lose focus. We should be STILL and not talking between poses! She also doesn't speak loudly enough, speaks too quickly to understand the correct movements, and mumbles! We noted that the room was not temperature controlled for 104 degrees. It was 91 degrees at the start of the class, and 112 degrees at the end of class!! That is dangerous for all, and too hot for anyone to be in for a long time. When we mentioned that to Cynthia, she started picking on us during the class, making comments about "Don't worry about the heat, if you're doing the poses RIGHT, you will be hot enough! Maybe you should focus on your own poses, and not the heat. etc, etc." DURING the class. Passive-aggressive bullying, is what that is. And when I thought it was just me, I read the following review, which means IT IS HER, not us! this taken from a review below: During the class, toward the end, the owner/teacher said to us all, after 70 minutes of non-stop talking in between postures about life lessons, comments about other yoga teachers, etc...she said to everyone "if I talk too much and it makes it hard for you to meditate, just tell me." So my friend said, "you are talking too much." She didn't like that, and started passive-aggressively making comments during the class directed at us and putting us down in front of everyone. They became more and more direct and petty. If you DO go here, remember, ABC: Anyone but Cynthia!! Unfortunately, she is also the receptionist, so good luck avoiding her! read more

I love this studio! The heat is good for your body. Come and support small businesses in your neighborhood!

A little background on my experience... my fiancé and I wanted to try Bikram because someone recommended it at his chiropractor. I do HITT workouts 2-3x a week and CorePower Yoga 1-2x a week. My fiancé just started getting into yoga a month ago, practicing 1-2x a week. So we're not experts or anything but just wanted to try new things together... especially since we're getting married! LOL We booked Cynthia's class via ClassPass. Great deal but the studio also offers reasonable priced memberships if you want to practice Bikram weekly. She was very welcoming while checking us in.... but WOW she was tough. The practice itself is very very challenging but she really doesn't want you to give up. I could see my fiancé struggling across the room but she really challenged him. Well, both of us. I was able to do some postures I didn't think I could do (like dancer's pose). I was surprised how much I was able to kick my leg back compared to the other yoga classes I've taken. My advice is do your research, but come with an open mind. Drink lots of water beforehand and use the restroom before class. Don't take anything personal and try your best. We both felt defeated during class but right after the class ended we only had good things to say about the practice and instructor. Cynthia told us doing the practice 3 days in a row is recommended. Unfortunately we weren't able to do 3 consecutive days but we will consider that for next time. read more

I participated in their class for the first time today. The receptionist is a smile and kind lady. The instructor Ken taught me the posing through the class carefully. The studio, changing room, and bathroom are all clean. I can't understand people who complained about this yoga studio. I went many yoga hot studio in my life. I think their service is very good and I love the clean room. I will go back to challenge their class again. It's so refreshing after 90 minutes whole body exercise! read more

Great place to sweat and relax. The staff is excellent and its a very pocket friendly place.

Review update: Came back for practice after a long 3-year hiatus from yoga. I was pleasantly surprised that the studio have evolved into a very professionally managed place. This is the perfect yoga studio for Milpitas! I love the staff and the space! Everyone is super nice, the employees but also the members. I got used to the difficult classes and the prices at this studio were better than most places and the class size is comfortable, I mean no one is stepping all over you but the class is full enough to get inspired when you are tired or not motivated! The owner is the sweetest yoga studio owner ever, I just love her energy. She is so chill and so relaxed and tender! I hope everyone joins this place because it will change you! read more

I attended this studio for 5 classes when I ended up in town due to a family emergency. Cynthia was very caring and supportive. She provided direct coaching on poses and even manual adjustments that I wouldn't receive at my home studio. The classmates were also very welcoming on the one day when a recording was played in lieu of s live instructor. Thanks for a positive experience and see you next visit :). read more

They follow strict COVID protocols and Cynthia is by bar one of the best instructors.

I used to go for classes for a few months till December 2017, after which i stopped going due to an injury. The lady who manages this outlet confirmed that my auto payment was cancelled. After 6 months I get charged $105 by Bikram yoga. I tried to call several times but no one answers the phone. I personally go to there but the owner is not available and none of the other instructors know how to handle my "situation" (which is just a reversal of payment) Finally, after my 2nd visit I get a hold of the owner. She says you have to email us when you have to cancel your account (this information wasn't shared with me when I was joining or leaving the class, no email id was provided too). I said ok, I'll email now and sent her an email immediately. Today it's been more than 20 days that my money hasn't been refunded. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

I was excited to try the new Milpitas location which was closer to my house. It's a nice studio except long black hair sticks to my arms and legs during the floor series when I'm all sweaty. Also you have to walk out into the hall to use a cold, public restroom and change in tiny stalls. And there's no shower. I purchased a second Groupon over 4 months later because I had a bad experience the first time and wanted to give it another chance...to hopefully become a lifetime member. Owner said no to second Groupon (I said why I wanted to try again) so I offered to buy a package after the class. I got there early but by this point class started in 1 minute and I wanted to get warmed up. She refused and said we need to sort it out now, before the class. I did my best. During the class, toward the end, the owner/teacher said to us all, after 70 minutes of non-stop talking in between postures about life lessons, comments about other yoga teachers, etc...she said to everyone "if I talk too much and it makes it hard for you to meditate, just tell me." So my friend said, "you are talking too much." She didn't like that, and started passive-aggressively making comments during the class directed at us and putting us down in front of everyone. They became more and more direct and petty. I am not angry, just disappointed. I really wanted this to be my new studio. I wish her best moving forward, maybe you will have better luck with the owner/teacher. I gave Sagar Yoga in Santa Clara another try (further from my house) and as always, I felt safe and welcome to practice yoga. They are better than ever and have changed a lot since I went there over a year ago. Natalie C. ----Pseudoname "Michelle S." read more

I arrived at 5AM for the 5:30AM class on February 3, 2020. By 5:20AM there were about 8 people waiting and the instructor never showed up! By 5:45AM everyone left. I was so disappointed, because I woke up so early for this class. It was a very terrible first impression, but I believe in second chances. On February 8th I came back for the 4:30PM class. I purchased the one month unlimited pass for first timers for $69. The bathroom is outside the yoga studio and it's on the dirty side. It also does not have any paper towels for you to dry your hands. For the sweat people produce during bikram yoga, it was too crowded for my comfort. There was definitely accidental hand grazing and bumping during practice. For sure I felt good after the class. However, my experience so far regarding service and basic amenities is average. I will write an update review after my one month trial. Let's hope for the best! read more

This was the worst yoga experience ever. So many issues I just can't. The worst part was that the instructor straight up didn't show. They played a recording of them giving instructions, and the lady at the front left and told us to lock up when we left. Wtf? I don't work there, I shouldn't have to lock up. They door was unlocked and our stuff was in the lobby in cubbies. Anyone could have gone in and taken stuff. They don't have a dressing room and there was a really creepy guy there making comments about having a great view when a woman set up in front of him. Just avoid this place. Bikram San Jose is much better. read more

Paid two months fee. Went there only once. But No refund. The place only have hot yoga.

I was there for my first time yesterday at 4:25pm for the 4:30 class. As Ling checked me in she told me I can't bring my phone in with me so I'll have to take it to my car or leave it in the cubby, but they lock the class door exactly at 4:30. I asked her if I can go down to my car I parked right downstairs can she wait for me and like a robot with no smile or empathy she repeated that they lock the door at 4:30. So I asked if I leave my phone in the cubby will she take responsibility for it and she says no. So now I'm irritated and explain to her it's my first time there and I drove in traffic to get there. I've checked their website and it says nothing about leaving my phone in the car. So you're telling me I drove all the way here so you can lock the door on me when you didn't even put this info on your website??? read more

Looking for a really good yoga studio in the south fremont and Milpitas areas? Bikram Studio is a good choice. Parking is a breeze and interior is pleasant. I purchased a Groupon in the spring and called in April to find out how I can use the pass for morning classes. I was told that I could not come in for weekend classes even though this was not stated in the Groupon. The woman I spoke to said that they don't make enough money on Groupons which is why they are not honoring them. Instead, the $20 I paid could be applied to 1 class (the Groupon was for 10). Every studio where I've become a regular I've been introduced to through Groupon. The ones I don't like, I stop going after a couple sessions anyway. My regular studios have made a lot of money from me and I'm happy they did. I go to yoga to relax, not to argue so I never went to this studio. I am out $20, but they are out a potentially long-term customer! read more

I love this place. Cynthia, the owner, is friendly, peaceful, welcoming, and accommodating. I've been looking for a spot closer to home and this little yoga studio on the back side of Able Street is perfect for me. The class times are perfect for me. I like the 6:30pm class offered Monday through Friday. People of all levels of practice are welcome here. You don't feel judged or looked down upon if you are newer. The studio is clean, welcoming, and well organized. It doesn't feel corporate or like you are just a number. Cynthia knows all of our names and greats us every day. I feel so encouraged when I go-even on days where I feel tired. By the end of class I feel so good, strength is building, endurance is increasing. Bikram Yoga Milpitas is the Best! read more

Hey, this is Thanh reviewing after my 9th(?) Bikram yoga session at Bikram Yoga Milpitas (BYM). I first came in with a freebie pass from a friend at the 4:30pm weekend class. Cynthia guided us in this session and I (and others) was *not* pressured to go 100% into poses when my body up for it. Now I had some previous experience with hot Pilates but this is a few degrees hotter and I was sweating like no tomorrow. Very intense but also great because once you step out of the practice room you feel the nice breeze and the accomplishment of surviving! Beginners are encouraged to stay in the room for the whole session. There are males and females attendees across a wide range of ages so don't be shy! Come in and try it out. I recently had a 8:30pm class and could see that Cynthia really tries to help beginners when they struggle. Yes, if there are many beginners in a class it may run a little longer but when you are dealing with your body you should want more guidance from your teacher so you get the BEST for your health and your body. So yes, that class may end up being let out of class a little later than usual. Other teachers are Andi and Kris, both are females teachers and they are excellent. Andi has this chill attitude and she smiles and encourages a lot. Kris helps guide and encourages students with comments on how to improve. All three teachers are awesome and very open, I'm happy to have learned from them. None of them raises their voice or yell but they may repeat the instructions more firmly so keep your ears open for ways to improve your pose. So far I've been able to fully lock out my legs for the Standing Head to Knee and I felt very proud of myself for pushing and concentrating when it's most important. Was also able to put my hands on my ankles for the first time today in the Camel Pose (it's scary to bend your upper body backwards but I find that you also have to trust the experience, take it slow and trust yourself). My body reminds me to sit up straight more rather than slouch. I feel great that I take time to take care of my body and also challenge it = generally being more happy and learn to appreciate the little things in life. Important thing to remember is that when you decide to come in a session you're here to work on you, not for anybody else, you leave other problems outside of the room. Yes, sometimes it's difficult to block out thoughts but would you rather be mastering your breathing and the Toe Stand or think about which bills you need to pay? Toe Stand is epic by the way, requires a lot of balance and concentration! Yes, there are days during Triangle Pose - shaking, breathing hard, sweat all over, red faced, heart beating into outerspace - I question myself, "Holy crap, why am I doing this again? This was a mistakeee, abort abort!" Well dude you gotta hang in there and giddily remind yourself that when we get to the Spine Twisting Pose there's only one more breathing exercise! Yeah, that's how I know when class is almost over, hahaha! Anyway, I hope that helped. I bought the $30 for 30 days session because it seems like the perfect introduction package. Also, they have a little fridge which contains various coconut waters, regular water, sparkling water you can buy. Tips: - Drop by at least 20-30 mins before any session starts so your info can be recorded, change clothes, find parking, find the business. - Tell the teacher if you have health problems or concerns - Bring at least 2 water bottles, water with ice will be phenomenal, use insulated containers. Drink sufficient water a day before class or at least 4-5 hours before. Don't eat too much 3 hours before. - Don't wear cotton clothing, I recommend sports bra, shorts and tank top for the ladies. - Try not to wipe all the sweat, it really does make you feel hotter, wipe if it's important that you get a firm grip, etc. - I believe they do supply a yoga mat and towel but best to bring your own. - I get really hungry after class so bring a protein bar maybe? There are other restaurants in the plaza. Goodluck and get yourself in the studio! read more

BEGINNER FRIENDLY! Check the website for schedules and new enrollment instructions. What a wonderful studio and instructor. If you're considering yoga and have heard of hot yoga, I'd highly recommend you sign up for the new student promotion: $20 for 1 week of unlimited yoga. Even if you're unsure, the first class pays for the promotion. I'm very new to yoga, and I've only attended 2 yoga classes prior to visiting this studio. I was nervous, but Cynthia was great and reassured me that I can take things at my own pace. I showed up 20 minutes prior, enrolled, bought a mat, and entered the "torture chamber." The room is very clean, doesn't smell, and was very hot! Once the class started, I followed a few postures and felt light headed, so I lied down on the mat; I felt no judgement and the class continued. I followed along when I was ready. Throughout the class, Cynthia helped me with my posture, and I would not have been able to do one of the back stretches on my own if Cynthia didn't instruct me to drop my head back and pull my chest forward. This was challenging for me, and the torture chamber rightfully deserves the name. During the class, I thought: what did I get myself into; I want to leave; this isn't for me. And then... as I continued and made it through the end, I felt such a sense of accomplishment! What a wonderful, rewarding, amazing feeling. I am looking forward to the next class, and I look forward to being able to do the poses that I couldn't do correctly! read more

Went there today (Aug 8) for 8:30pm class. I agree with other reviewer, I would not recommend this place. Instructor lack professionalism, rude and trying to overcharge credit card. She started the class 15 minutes late, so the class went till 10:15pm. I waited to pay for the class. She kept asking me to write credit card information in a piece of paper and leave the place. I asked her to process the payment in my presence. Then she start processing payments for other people who came after me. When I asked why are you processing others before me, she said "All Indians are like this". I was clueless about her behavior and waited. After sometime she started processing my payment, she tried to charge higher and fixed after I pointed wrong selection. I heard the printer printing receipt, but she kept telling me receipt is not yet printed and made me wait again. Finally I left after 11pm. Please avoid this place and try some other location. read more

I am so excited that there is a Bikram studio in Milpitas! Cynthia, the owner, is so friendly and welcoming. Beautiful, cozy space on the 2nd floor with hardwood floors, some real live potted plants - not the fake stuff (it's something I always notice + appreciate), bathrooms just down the hall, and changing rooms (men + women's) with a shower! The studio has a light and airy feel to it. Sarah taught the class I attended. She's super nice with a kind, encouraging voice. I didn't feel like I was being yelled at, but still felt pushed to challenge myself. She gave great verbal adjustments to each person. The practice space could be a little hotter, but that's probably my fault because I was right near a fan. Note to self: be next to the heater next time! Thank you, Cynthia for opening this Bikram studio! Excited to go back! read more

Was initially excited to have a studio in Milpitas, but would not recommend due to the lack of professionalism. The owner/instructor showed up 20 minutes late to the first class. There were around 10 people that showed up for class this morning and we were told 15 minutes after class was supposed to start that it was cancelled. A few people said that she was late to other classes as well & one lady was really disappointed because she lives 30 minutes away. Total waste of time for everyone. read more

Too hot. I get it. It's supposed to be hot but for me it was oppressive and claustrophobic. The instructor will not allow you to leave the room to cool down. You are required to stay in the class room and lie on your matt to cool down. I left the studio after my fourth try so out of it I forgot to pick up my matt. When I inquired if they kept if for me, it was gone. It is a good place if you like it HOT. I don't find absolutely dripping sweat to be helpful to my practice. read more
