I found Bright Heart through Groupon and bought the 10 pack class deal before signing up for my first month of membership. The 10 pack of classes was around $35 and the 1 month unlimited classes was $30 if I remember correctly - both great deals. Moving forward I think membership will be around $80 (?) for unlimited classes every month, which is still totally affordable if you plan on going often. (: If you're strapped for cash, I believe there are community classes once a week for maybe $5-$10. So far I have taken Saturday 9 AM class with Patricia, and Monday and Tuesday 6 AM (woof!) classes with Tracy and Dave. I am so pleased with the class size (small), location (5 min. drive from my house), heat (around 78 degrees?), and friendliness (the instructors are great!). All three teachers have been fabulous about pointing out adjustments to improve my practice, explaining different positions according to levels of students, and helping push me further into my lunges and stretches. I love hands-on personalized instruction, and you can find that here! At the end of class when you are laying down and meditating, you get a damp, cool washcloth that smells like lavender to put over your eyes and wipe down. Especially for the early morning classes, I love that you arrive in the dark, and flow into the morning, with the sun rising and shining in greeting in your face by the end of class. I'm still adjusting to waking up at 5-something, but I feel so positive and centered for the rest of the day -- the struggle is worth it! Check this place out. read more

This studio deserves more reviews! Great find, glad I gave it a try as it's right next to my workplace. This inconspicuous studio is near De Anza and Stevens Creek Blvd. They share a lot with the hair salon next door so parking is never a problem. I purchased their new member special, $30/month, which is such a steal! The best deal I've found--their prices are very competitive which is a plus since everything is so expensive in Silicon Valley. One of my favorite things about this studio is that they give you a lavender scented towel at the end of class. I look forward to it during savasana! Makes it super relaxing after a hot & sweaty flow. The inspirational sayings posted on the ceiling and walls is a nice touch. Also, if you're running late, no worries! Just use their back entrance. I think this place gets lost in the sea of studios present in the bay. So much so, that I kept putting off paying this place a visit. And I can't believe I did. After frequenting well over 10+ studios over the last 5 years, I have only grown fonder of this place with every subsequent visit. Jackie has set up a very friendly and welcoming place. There is a lot of focus on breathing and working through your poses with an encouraged sense of self awareness. There are times during the class when I want to just wither into my child's pose and call it a day, but the spirit of the other students rubs off on you and you hang in there. If anything, that final shavasana feels so liberating and empowering - a testament to how well the yoga practice is received. It is by far the most reasonably priced as well. Bright heart is an amazing studio, you can tell alot of regulars are addicted! It used to be inside out yoga, but the owner sold it. There are alot of the same instructors remaining from inside out yoga which is great because they are all amazing! Overall the instructors have great variety as far as style goes and they all teach you important things to improve your practice. It is a heated power vinyasa studio...expect to get sweaty, so bring water and a towel! If you are a beginner I would make sure to check the schedule because the advanced classes are intense. I found Bright Heart Yoga after doing a google search for "Baptiste Yoga San Jose". It had been several years since I'd done such a search (I came up snake eyes for this search a couple years back) and I was surprised to get a hit. To say I was pleased to see the Baptiste Affiliate logo at the bottom of their website is an understatement. My hotel was in Milpitas, and they're in Cupertino, so it was no small effort for me to get there by 6:15pm, but OH MY am I glad I did!! I paid for a drop-in to take Tracy Spencer's 6:15 class and it was a small class (3 people, what luck?!) so I received extra attention and extra hands-on assists. Her verbal cues were specific and helpful as I moved from pose to pose. The studio was a pleasing temperature and I began to sweat very quickly. I liked that their loaner mats are at no charge, and they're the Lululemon reversible mats! I've not practiced on a Lululemon mat and it was an interesting switch up from my Mandua Black Mat Pro (but I won't be changing it to a Lulu mat anytime soon). I adored the little stickers/signs on the ceiling that said things like "relax" or "LOL". They made me smile as I took Warrior 1 in to a back bend and "saw something new". The cherry on the pie was the lavender scented cool washcloth offered at the end of class. Oh my, how I would totally make this my regular studio if I lived in Silicon Valley. It was totally worth the drive to get this level of attention and instruction in a delightful space! I definitely will be back when I travel to San Jose on business in the future! Just W-O-W! This studio is small but is probably the best studio I have ever been to and I've visited around 5-7 studios in the Bay Area. Clientele is fantastic, space is bright, parking is easy and love ALL the instructors who are quite knowledgeable and pay attention to you individually. In one class I realized I was doing a few postures wrong for years! The class is different every time so I am never bored and the teachers make you laugh, at BH you are part of a community and at the beginning of class they usually they have you introduce yourself to your neighbor so its not awkard if you fall out of a pose onto their mat, or you accidentally touch them when transitioning into a new pose. If I could offer someone advice who is planning on trying out Bright Heart, sign up online for the class in advance and get there early, it gets crowded quickly (more crowded than some of the classes I have experienced in San Francisco) read more

Great studio with great teachers that teach in Baptiste style of yoga. I have tried Jacky's, Yasuko's, and Chris' classes. They're all great! Each teacher has their own pace, but the rough structure of each class is the same. I'm used to ashtanga where there is less variability; so this kind of creativity is pretty good for me to learn new poses. 90 degrees is quite a high temperature in my mind, but it turns out this is really on the lower end of things as far as hot yoga goes. It's taken me 2-3 classes to adjust to the heat, and I've seen a lot of progress/improvement in my strength since taking classes here. I will probably continue a membership here after my Groupon runs out - the studio is small, lots of regulars, and they run their own teacher training program. Really like the homey quality of this studio! Oh - one last thing! Love that there are two changing rooms and free loaner mats, as well as the cooling towels they provide at the end of class - little things like that make me that much more likely to go to class each week! :) read more

I highly recommend this studio. I practiced for a year at this studio and I think they have a lot of options for busy silicon vallley folks. I like the 6:30 am to get into gear first thing in the morning. A 1 hour noon class is perfect for a quick lunch break escape and then the traditional 90 minute evening classes are great if you have time. All the classes are in about 80-90 degree heat and expect a fast flowing vinyasa. so good cardio as well. read more

I started my yoga journey at this studio about six months ago. Every step of the way, I have been pleased. Pleased with the aesthetics of the studio; the kindness and supportive nature of the instructors; and the results of continual visits. I decided to practice at this studio because of the availability of classes (early morning to evening) and because of the Groupon that was available. The only thing that I would have done differently then, is to not purchase the 10-class Groupon and opt for the introductory month of unlimited classes because I went through the 10 classes in about three weeks! I appreciate how easy it is to check in to class whether it be online, hours or days before class, or in studio. The process is streamlined. I also appreciate how the instructors are there to provide guidance and support without promoting purchasing any items or memberships. This is an excellent studio with friendly faces and knowledgeable teachers. The room is heated to a comfortably warm temperature of 85 degrees. The space is spotless, comforting and introspective with stickers stuck sporadically on the ceiling to focus on when you are in a pose. A lavender scented damp towel is given at the end of class which is amazing. They hold many events and workshops throughout the year to help complement your practice. Their normal class roster typically consists of power vinayasa, power basics and power restore. Power restore is probably my favorite, a class that focuses on restorative poses and flexibility. The pricing is very manageable for a bay area studio and well worth it! The teachers are all extremely forthcoming, positive and really help push you to get stronger. Ive taken most of my classes with Jackie, who is excellent, taking cues from her knowledge as a practicing physical therapist and yoga teacher. Nikki Wong leads an amazing 90-minute vinyasa flow at 9am on Sundays. This class really challenges you in the best way, highly recommended. Chris leads a dynamic uplifting class that pushes you to your edge. Each teacher brings their unique perspective and skills which is awesome. You wont be disappointed in committing to this studio. This is such a lovely little studio. I started out with their newcomer's deal of $39 for a month of classes. They have classes throughout the day so it's perfect if you have an unpredictable schedule. There's a huge shared lot with the neighboring businesses. Don't make my mistake of going through the front door! You walk around back and enter through a side door where you check in or sign up at the front desk. Shoes and things go in shelving near the entrance. There are blocks and straps you can borrow too. The classes have been wonderful so far in helping me build strength, balance, and starting off the day with a clear head. I'm probably echoing some people but I love the cold lavender towels they hand out near the end of class. It's a great way to cool off and center yourself as the class comes to an end. All of the teachers are great and bring a positive energy to the classes. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a good yoga studio. read more

Okay so I have many problems with this place: 1. The room is super small, which tries to accommodate about 25-30 people. There is no air conditioning in the room, so it gets super stuffy and stinky. 2. I had asked them for a personal trainer and I was told to come and attend a group class to get a feel for the whole thing. I did go and inform the trainer that I have never done yoga ever before, no attention was paid even when I was struggling and was feeling dizzy. 3. They don't have beginner class or anything like that. Just one level for all. Everyone in the class is at a different level of fitness. So it's like one person is super flexible and the other one is barely managing. This was first yoga experience ever and it was terrible! If you want to go to this place, be ready to feel bad about yourself. read more

This is a fantastic yoga studio. It is small, cute studio that has everything you need for a successful yoga practice. I have been going to Bright Heart for 2 years and I am finally getting around to writing this well deserved 5 star review. If you are looking for a great work out in a not-overly heated studio, with great instructors who know how to teach to all yoga levels, this is the place. The tradition of Baptiste Yoga (this studio is a Baptiste affiliated studio) says that all classes are accessible to everyone and Jackie, the owner, assures all instructors teach this way. One great benefit is the community you will be joining. Don't expect Bright Heart to be a place of silence, as laughter and questions are highly encouraged before, after and during class. We all learn and enjoy the time together. There is a very nice mix of classes that include power vinyasa, basics, restore and for the extremest, one advanced class per week. My first experience with Bright Heart Yoga Studio. Pro - The studio I nice, clean, efficient The teacher/ staff is friendly and helpful Con- Children's drawings are taped to the studio wall. As much as I enjoyed children art, I found that it is distracting, chaos, and less than calming or soothing. - Wet, cool face towel is a nice touch at the end of class. However, it doesn't smell very good especially when it is so close to your nose. Perhaps some light essential oil soak would help. At the end of class, I saw clients used the face towel to wiped, cleaned their mats. This is probably the reason why it smelled so unpleasant. Maybe a reminder to clients not to use face/neck towel to clean their mats might be helpful. read more

I am surprised by so many positive reviews. Smell inside that one room is absolutely horrible! You can't even focus on anything, especially when instructor said to take a deep breath. It totally beats the purpose of doing yoga if you can't breathe in there. There is no room to change at all. No showers. When my previous hot yoga studio had to close down due to exorbitant rent by the landlord, I was really disappointed but so happy when I found Bright Heart Yoga Studio. I was hesitant at first as the studio is much smaller than my previous one. Bought a good groupon deal and decided to give it a try. I was glad I did. Although the studio is small, there is enough space to practice. Not as 'luxurious' as I am used to but overall experience is good. The 2 teachers I had so far (Tracy and AJ) are really nice, friendly and encouraging. The teachers walked around and correct postures which I really appreciated since Vinyasa is new to me. I am used to Bikram Hot Yoga. Love the cooling towels (with lavender fragrance) that they provide at the end of class! Bright Heart Yoga Studio - you got me! I tried this studio yesterday and fell in love with it, so much so I ended up taking an unlimited months subscription. Some of the things that I liked- -Clean studio -They begin the class with meet/greet/share with your immediate neighbors on the mat, great way to connect with fellow yogis -I was also given hands on adjustments to deepen my posture! This shows they really care. -The power yoga flow was amazing.. it was a good work out plus the inspirational talk kept me grounded! -Finally, the lavender essence + cold towels during shavasan - so relaxing.. I've taken classes at many different yoga studios and this is in my top two! The instructors are warm, encouraging, even funny, and definitely challenging. Anyone with any physical ability can get something amazing out of any class. Attending Power Vinyasa here, especially, is an inspiring and rewarding experience every time! Great little place hidden in the heart of Cupertino. I love the down to earth spirit and the diversity of its people. The teachers are all highly trained, super friendly with a big bright heart. I love this place to bits! Been coming to this studio for the past 2.5 years (started when it was Yoga Inside Out under a different owner), and I firmly believe it is the unbeatable combination of fantastic, attentive instructors and close-knit community that keeps me coming back. The space is relatively new and very well-kept. This studio focuses on the power vinyasa style of yoga in a heated environment (generally 80*-90*), and it both challenges and increases your strength/flexibility (as others have said, yes, a little towel to wipe your sweat is a must!). Another key differentiator are the assists that the instructors offer their students. Each instructor, while having their own style of teaching (each class generally follows the same structure but no class is exactly the same!), makes a point of assisting every student hands-on at some point during class and are more than happy to answer any questions before/after class when it comes to alignment/aches or pains/furthering your yoga practice. I can thank Groupon for leading me here and catalyzing my ongoing yoga practice. Jackie, the owner, is also super awesome and friendly. I will confess that I've never really checked out other studios in the area because I fell in love with this one from the get-go, but I would encourage anyone looking for a power vinyasa-type of studio to check this one out. My daughter gave me a 10-visit pass for my birthday. When I went for my eighth class, I was told that this was valid to be used within 2 months. Then, I was explained to have read the fine print. They did not even consider about my son's accident on March 23. Rather wanted me have emailed them. The way they approached the situation was rude and unprofessional. read more

I just finished my 30 day new member pass and I must say I am a fan. I joined after not being active for some time and I was a bit nervous about getting back on the mat. All the instructors are so nice and helpful. I honestly feel like this studio is a judgement free zone. My only complaints besides the fact that sometimes people need to put deodorant on is that I wish they offered more of the basics and restore classes. read more
