I had a class pass trial, so I wanted to try out this studio. I noticed that they offered a reformer Pilates class, so I decided to try it out. Since it was my first time at the studio, I entered and waited at the front desk with someone else before we were greeted to come in. The reformers were already set up, and there were only five, so it was a small class. I practice Lagree regularly, and this was my first time trying pilates. Johann went over the different parts of the machine, but I was still a little underprepared. We didn't go over how the springs worked, and I had to figure it out during class. Again, it being my first time doing pilates, the moves were not clear to me, and I had no idea what I was doing. The basics weren't clear, so I personally would have been better prepared if I knew them. There apparently is a parking lot but I was unable to find it. There was, however, free two-hour street parking so I opted for that. read more

I've been here and number of times and it's always a great environment to learn and workout in. There's a good variation of workouts - boxing, Pilates, spin, etc - and the owners are super warm and welcoming. I came as a total newbie wanting to try boxing and Johann patiently showed me the basics. For the boxing classes specifically there's quite a few regulars and they're all kind and welcoming. I haven't had the chance to come by now that I teach classes myself, but I definitely recommend and would love to come back soon. read more

Small studio so you get a lot of personal attention. I took the reformer pilates class with Johann and he was great - very encouraging and friendly. Small parking lot on the back or street parking. Would recommend. read more

Always a great Pilates class with Johann! I've taken a handful of classes here with Johann and I always feel amazing afterwards. Class is pretty small, so Johann really does get a chance to pay attention to everyone and correct us if needed. Definitely a Pilates Studio to check out! read more

Pacific Spin & Strength - 1/2 part of the studio (Pilates section) - Pilates Near Me - San Jose, California

I have been coming here 5-8 times a month for over a year and a half and I absolutely love the spin classes with Danielle! Classes I enjoy: Spinlates (30 minutes on bike and 20 minutes of mat pilates) SpinStrength (30 minutes on bike and 20 minutes of strength exercises) As an instructor, Danielle is SO ENCOURAGING and is consistently cheering us on in a positive and intentional way. She makes the effort to learn the names of everyone in the class and everyone is so helpful. I appreciate that the exercise playlists are well planned. The studio provides pretty much everything you need for your workout including spin shoes, a towel, and additional equipment. Just bring a water bottle and socks! The front of the studio is decorated with art and quotes to keep you motivated. TIP: For spin classes, try to arrive 10 minutes early so you can park in the small lot in the back of the studio and get set up on a bike. Overall: I love this studio. Great local spot to try if you like fitness classes. read more

The best neighborhood exercise studio. I've been attending classes about once every other week or two for about a year. My favorite class is the SPINLATES class, which is 30 minutes of spin followed by 20 minutes of mat Pilates. This format allows me to go hard on the bike knowing it's only for a short time. I've also enjoyed the Reformer machine Pilates, full mat Pilates, full spin, and kettlebell/strength classes. They also offer boxing classes that I haven't tried myself. It's hard to go wrong! The main owner, Danielle Duffy, is a wonderful instructor with sick playlists and motivating words to push you to get stronger while also having fun. Not to mention that her biceps are buff af and motivation unto themselves. The other instructors are fun and knowledgeable as well. Logistics: - small parking lot in the back, a few street spots to the side and front. - there are two halves to the studio, the front mainly for spin and Pilates and the back mainly for boxing and strength, but you can enter through either side and walk through one space to get to another - the studio has mats, weights, props, and spin shoes to borrow, no need to bring your own unless you prefer - bikes fitted with SPD cleats, you cannot use street shoes but the studio has shoes to borrow - one unisex bathroom, no shower - small cubbies available, no locks read more

Great deal on classpass for a quick reformer pilates class. I went because I could not get the classes I wanted at my Club Pilates which is one of the common issues. It's a chill vibe class with Johan but challenging and a great playlist. Pilates does benefit from more structured and specific instructions (like ballet almost) so I got a lot out of learning my basics first with the reformer at Club Pilates for a year or so before venturing to different classes like Lagree methods, Solidcore, and other variations like this one. Parking is not the most easy to find but ok. Overall would recommend to try. The students looked like regulars so there is definitely a following. read more

I took the morning Reformer Pilates class with Johann and I really enjoyed it! The parking lot was a little difficult for me to find, it is a little bit further down from the back of studio. The studio was cozy and very clean. There was even a little dog that greeted me when I walked in! Johann was a very nice and challenging instructor. The workout was gentle and beginner friendly but it was some challenging core work! The 45 minutes flew by. I would definitely recommend this studio. read more

I took the Spinlates class with Danielle for the first time and the atmosphere was amazing! The class was very friendly for beginners (though you can intensify it to your liking). Would definitely take again and recommend to anyone read more

Booked through Class Pass for a 10:00 AM class and the studio was close THIS WAS SO RIDICULOUS

I am so glad I finally tried this place out! Went to a 10am class with Danielle and it was phenomenal. Super welcoming community of people, really friendly and positive vibes. Danielle structures the workouts so well- she gives you a solid warm up, eases you into the heaviest part of the circuit with a warm up round, and ends with mobility work. I can't wait to try more classes. Highly recommend! read more

I love PSS! I've been doing spin class at PSS for almost 2 years and it is the best. From the first day I walked in, Danielle and Johann were so welcoming. Got me set-up with the settings on the bike and shoes. Danielle explained how everything worked when I was a beginner and still answers any question I have about the workouts. The music is always so fun! I feel like i'm dancing on the bike. I come out drenched in sweat every class and it know i got a great workout. I could write forever about the greatness off PSS! You gotta try it out read more

I've been to my fair share of gyms: big-box commercial gyms with membership counts the size of D2 universities; powerlifting gyms with seemingly every square inch covered by chalk and power racks; college gyms that more closely resemble zoos; and sanitized, trendy yoga/cycling gyms. While all have their pros and cons, none have the secret ingredient that Pacific Spin & Strength has: a familial feeling. Over ~10ish years of on-and-off training, the last three years -- time spent at PS&S -- have been my most consistent DUE to that familial feeling. Small classes, open to all skills levels across a wide variety of modalities, with the friendliest people you'll ever meet = physical and emotional GAINS! read more

This is a review for a reformer Pilates class I took with a (super nice) tall African American man as instructor about 2 months ago. I was visiting the area for a few days and wanted to take a Pilates class. Found this studio on ClassPass and they had an opening- yay. Went in with no expectations, but WOW. Had a GREAT workout. It was a really nice blend of mostly classical Pilates with some contemporary moves thrown in. It was a gentle yet challenging workout and I left feeling energized. Sore in all the right places the next day. If I'm ever in the area I will most definitely be back! read more

I got referred to this gym by Griselda, one of the instructors here, and I'm so glad! I tried Danielle's 6am HIIT, 7pm Spinlates, & 6:45am Express Ryde (all on different days) using ClassPass & l'm definitely gonna be a regular here. I love how Danielle packs so much in in just 30min. Her Express Ryde is a total body workout that doesn't just focus on speed or strength, but also control, balance, & power (this goes for all her spin classes, though). Her energy is amazing and keeps you coming back for more! Her playlists are always on point and the music really makes or breaks the class. I love how, just like at CycleBar, we ride to the beat of the music. So at Pacific Spin & Strength, you almost feel like you can dance along, too! Her gym is a nice, intimate space but it doesn't take away from the powerful, strong, beast mode vibe you get from the space. Can't find the same artwork & layout on her walls anywhere else. I'm hooked! There's limited street parking out front, but I've rarely had an issue parking in the back. I'm sure there's more street parking further out as well. The location is so convenient to Peet's (post-workout treat before heading to work), and Whole Foods (great quick dinner spot after an evening class). read more

I've been coming here since December and I love it. I've been doing the spin/lates classes with Danielle and she is amazing. I've also done Johann's boxing class which I enjoyed. They just started the reformer pilates classes and it was also a great workout and experience. It's a great environment and everybody is friendly and always willing to help. 10 out of 10. I will be adding in the reformer pilates to my schedule from here on out. read more

Did my first ExpressRyde this morning and loved it! I hadn't been to spin class since pre-pandemic and I have knee issues so I was nervous. Everyone was welcoming. Danielle greeted me and helped me understand how to clip-in with the cycle shoes they provide. They also provided towels and water! The studio is fun, comfortable, and clean. The music theme was on point and we had choreography! I can't wait to go back!! read more

I love this studio! Danielle, the owner is super duper nice, friendly, energetic, and fun! I used to hate cycling, like seriously could not do more than 10 minutes at a time. When I started coming here, 20 mins on the bike was a lot for me! I started with her 45 min classes and felt like I was going to die each time. Her music and energy made it fun though, so I kept coming back. Now I take her 75 min class every Friday. It's not easy but it's such a great workout!! If you like spin and you want a fun, nice, and energetic trainer, then you have to come here! You'll thank yourself after. :) read more

I can not recommend this place enough. Danielle creates such a friendly and welcoming environment with her warm and energetic demeanor. I took the kettle ball class a while ago, and I I look forward to it every weekend. The class is fast paced and you get an amazing workout. She does a great job providing feedback on form and has this effortless positive energy. I highly recommend that you try a class here! read more

OMGGGGG LOVE IT HERE!!!!! Danielle is SOOOO amazing!! My first time there, she was so welcoming and made me feel so comfortable. (Im shy when I workout around others.) I was recommended to come here by a co worker. The owner Danielle, was nice at first but seemed very dismissive when I was bringing up issues . With the current health scares happening in this world , i no longer feel comfortable coming here . The conditions of the gym are pretty terrible considering it has only been open for a year or two. The equipment looks like it has been through some trying times and the paint is falling off , I am afraid that I might actually inhale it and cause severe damage to my organs . The owner tends to bring her dog in and at first it was cute .I laid down to work out on the mats and wasn't bothered by the wet spot because I thought it was just water from a water bottle. It turned out to be dog urine, I had to drive home smelling of foul dog urine all over my back and I couldn't get the smell out of car seats for days until I finally took it in to get detailed . The owner didn't respond to any of this , in fact she has ignored everything and didn't even bother to give me a towel for the urine all over my back . Please, if you're reading this just stick to corporate owned gyms because they have to follow stricter health guidelines , that allow you to be dog urine free . read more

I recently stumbled upon this studio and absolutely loved my class with Danielle! Danielle opened this studio after long-term stints at various gyms (Gold's, etc.) so I felt like I could trust her guidance during our session. She gave me tips on my form and provided explanations on how adjusting my weight to different body parts would help prevent injuries and with the overall benefits of the exercise. She was also attentive, inspiring, and fun during a kick-ass workout. Thanks, Danielle! Looking forward to coming back for another class. read more
