I took my first class today and these are my thoughts on it. The booking process - I knew that they had a first session fee for $28 and that would include the socks. When I tried booking it through the app, I selected it on the drop menu, but for some reason it didn't put it for me. I did pay a reduced fee, but I would think that it would know that it was my first time and automatically sign me up for it. When I got there, the instructor told me I had to pay for the socks, but I could email the manager to see if I could get a reimbursement. So the class and socks ended up costing me 40 bucks (18 for socks). For some reason the label said $14, but I was charged 18. Not sure why. First impressions - The instructor seemed nice, but the intro was literally 5 minutes long and then you were on your own. When I started at orange theory, the coach constantly checked in on me to see if I was okay and that made me feel better about starting a new workout. Honestly, I felt like a fish out of water. I had to keep looking at the other girls next to me to see what to do because the instructor was throwing out instructions and unfamiliar terms to me at the speed of light. Also, I could tell the handle bar slack was uneven, but after my friend mentioned that hers was too to the instructor, she said "oh" and that was it so I didn't speak up either. The workout - Man, this burns so good. I thought I would be prepared for it with a year of Orange Theory under my belt, but my body was not ready for it. I can see why it's such a good workout. My legs were still shaking 30 minutes after. I would be up for another class in the future. Just need more exposure to the terminology. Overall it was a great workout. Maybe not the best for someone that is completely new to it, but you got to start somewhere. read more

I love trying different studios so I thought I'd try this one while visiting my family in the area. Juliana was great! Really friendly, helpful, and gave us clear instructions. Her workout was fun and challenging. I really liked how she structured the workout. There were exercises I haven't done before at other studios. She also helped me correct my form as needed. The studio itself is very clean with lots of natural lighting. I arrived early for a quick rundown because I wasn't familiar with their machine and she was even sanitizing cubbies! My first time trying Lagree and I am so glad that Geraldine was my instructor! She was super helpful as she explained what the terms that they used for the reformer and how to use them! The workout itself was a lot different from pilates or any other workout class that I have tried but still a great challenging course! Geraldine was also very encouraging and came by to help me fix my form whenever I was unsure of foot placement or just needed clarification! I just completed my 7th class at LFBA, and it's been as challenging as, if not more than, the first one! With my wedding just a week away, I committed to something over a month ago that would really push me physically, and this studio has done just that. Mixed feelings about this studio. The instructors are friendly and nice, and the class difficulty is moderate (less difficult compared to other studios). My qualm is with the layout of the classes. I primarily attend the noon classes because that is when I have some free time from work. I attended last Tuesdays class, last Thursdays class, and today's Tuesday class. All three classes were literally the same, down to every last move. By the third class, I was feeling so unmotivated and bored and it honestly wasn't a good workout. I've never been to a studio where the instructor repeats the exact same workout on multiple different days. If you're paying over $200 for a membership, I expect that the workouts reflect the quality of the price and should at least be varied each day. Just something to be aware of if you are considering booking multiple classes with the same instructor. read more

I'm new to Lagree and I've taken about 5 classes so far. I'm more of a HIIT girl but I've found the classes very rewarding and challenging. The classes definitely suck in the best way lol. I had only taken one Lagree class ever, which was down in San Diego. I loved it but wasn't quite sold on the hype. After a few injuries in the gym, I needed a workout that was low impact on the joints but that was still challenging and made me feel good about myself. LFBA studios has been a great place for me to start this new phase of working out. I really appreciated my first class with Vivian, where she took the time teach me the reformer and checked in on me throughout. I loved that she, and the rest of the instructors, always remember and say your name throughout class. My favorite class was on Halloween - where Toby had us balance a pumpkin on our head or back depending on the move. It was hilarious but also a very good workout. Each class is usually really small because there's only a handful of machines. The instructor I had was Nancy and she was really kind and walked through a quick tour and gave us instructions on how to use the reformer machines. My current favorite studio in the South Bay! :) It's a cute studio with about 10-11 megaformers. The 40 minute class is intense and it doesn't get any easier, but I feel myself getting stronger after each class. I've been here more than 10x already and it is challenging but so rewarding. I like the instructors and their encouragement, and I like how they focus/fix your form as well to optimize the workout and prevent injuries (super important!). It may be a little intimidating if you're a first timer or if you've only gone a few times, but don't worry! You'll get used to it and the instructor will walk you through the machine when you arrive, and will provide instructions throughout the session. You get your first class free, and afterwards you have a newcomer special of 8 classes for $149 (used within 30 days). I already referred this studio to a few of my friends. It's very different from other workouts I have done but I'm also strengthening muscle groups I've previously avoided. I took the signature 45? class 2 weeks ago on a Friday and wow. For beginners it was SUPER hard! However, I always love a challenge and I know it's going to be worth it in the end. I was actually sore for the next 3-4 days! It was my first time doing reformer pilates and it changed my life!
