Nothing else helped my lower back issues until I found Jen at Encore Pilates. In less than 6 months, she transformed my core strength and the resilience/health of my back. She's the real deal -- knowledgeable and caring. Highly recommended! read more

Update: I finally heard back from them 1 month after my initial email (and after my yelp review). Unfortunately, their wait list was 3 months long. Seemed nice over email but I was just a bit disappointed in their late response. Updating my review from 1 star to 3. I have moved on to another studio. read more

The best! Look forward to returning! Professional staff and very clean environment. Cheerful atmosphere- a pleasure all around. read more

Joining Encore Pilates Center was one of the best decisions I've made in life. I have been having weekly session with Jennifer since 2021. She is a very kind, caring and gifted instructor. Great attention to details. She can always point out when I am using the wrong muscle group. My body was transformed by her in a short period of time. All my friends noticed the change, even my chiropractor. My fiancé decided to join Encore after seeing great results from me. read more

At Encore Pilates, I did not have a great experience and would not refer a friend there. It seemed like we were doing the same routine week after week. The Instructor was not open to suggestions or comments about how some exercises caused pain. However, I have moved on to a different studio with better results. read more

Very bad experience. Do not go there. The waitlist is too long and this place never pick up the call

I've been in customer service operations for over 8 years & just terrible customer communication and service. Not worth the wait or service.

Jen is great! Start with 3 personal sessions and join the group class. They limit the number of people to 4 in a group class so everyone gets sufficient attention as needed. read more

Worst experience never. The call never could be answered. When I drove 30 mins to learn more details, the coordinator could not even talk to me for 1 min that she said she is busy and kicked me out. What kind of place is this? Is this attitude coming from her Pilate studies??? read more

I'm new to pilates, and Encore has been a great introduction to it. This is a really nice studio -- it's very comfortable and clean, and the equipment is all new. They have off-street parking too. Jennifer has been a very fastidious instructor and really takes the time to make sure you're doing things in the correct way. Come by and check out Encore, you'll love it. read more

I have been doing Pilates with Encore Pilates owner, Jennifer, for almost 8 years and she has completely changed my body and mindset when it comes to working out. I used to lift heavy weights and wonder why I wasn't achieving the "look" I wanted of lean defined muscle tone. Once I started working with Jennifer and she taught me the concepts of Pilates I was a changed girl! My core, legs, arms and butt have never looked better :) she is so knowledgable and works with your individual skill set. I worked out my entire pregnancy with ease because Jennifer knew how to alter workouts to fit my needs and ability. The studio is amazingly clean and has all the best Pilates equipment. Her prices are very competitive as well.. Not overpriced at all, especially for the product you get. read more

I've been doing 1:1's with Jen for well over a year now. Her studio is always clean and she consistently sanitizes after sessions, even from before COVID. Since starting with her, I've noticed huge changes in my body and posture. Especially in those hard to work places! I tend to get lower back spasms from time to time and whenever I've come in right after an episode, she modifies the session to help relieve the pain and get the body moving to "heal" faster. I always feel great the day after! Her sense of humor and how engaged she is in sessions to ensure you're using the correct muscles is what keeps me coming back. You will not want to do pilates anywhere else after seeing Jen! read more

I have been doing Pilates with Jen at Encore Pilates for a year now. She helped reprogram my body to find and stay in neutral spine. My back used to hurt every single day and I can honestly say that since I have started training with Jen I haven't had one day of back pain. The studio is lovely, warm and welcoming. There is a great sense of community too. All the students support one another and make the environment fun and less intimidating. Once you start Pilates at EnCore you will never want to stop. read more

Pilates gets real with Encore Pilates! Instructor Jennifer Owens is an absolute stickler for technique, and deeply knowledgeable. Both of which are ideal for practicing Pilates. The environment is light and fun. There is a lot of hard work happening during each class, but the time always seems to go by quickly. For a number of years in the past, I took Pilates classes from a variety of instructors. I took a hiatus in order to spend more time on other sports that I am passionate about: lacrosse, skiing, running, et cetera. Recently I suffered a knee injury, and needed to find a non-impact activity to stay in shape. After just a few weeks, I can already feel and see a difference in my musculature. In addition, I feel that there is a lot to be said for the mind-body connection that is practiced during Pilates. This studio is great and convenient, I would recommend it highly to newbies or veterans of Pilates. read more

I have been seeing Jen at Encore for 2+ years. The 1on1 classes are great! She does a great job of listening to you & creating a class specific to your body & needs. I especially appreciate her taking extra care of me during my 9 months of pregnancy. I felt strong throughout and worked out till week 38. And because of Pilates & Jen, I was back at it 7 weeks post baby! Her studio is clean, parking is always available to clients, she is flexible with schedules and she truly cares about her clients. Highly recommend her and Encore Studio!!! Great workout read more

If you are looking for a place to really work your core and to have a good time, Encore is your place. Jennifer, the owner manages to combine excellent training with a fun atmosphere. Jennifer is an incredible trainer (I have been working with her for over 8 years) who wants to ensure that you are using the right form so that you get the most out of what you are doing. She also manages to develop routines around whatever injuries you may have. I have had several over the years and we have worked through them all. Jennifer does a great job of changing the classes up, so we don't get complacent. She is also willing to work on whatever body part you would like to improve. The studio itself is well equipped and light and airy. If you are thinking about either starting Pilates or looking to improve your current level of fitness, this is where you want to be! read more

Jen is an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated instructor who knows what she's doing! Pilates is a great workout, and I am very happy with the strength and toning I have achieved so far. I recommend Encore Pilates to achieve your goals with a knowledgeable professional. read more

Jen was excellent in supporting my rehab during quarantine VIRTUALLY!!! Her attention to detail, ability to correct my form (over Zoom no less) and follow up throughout the week was incredible. If you're going crazy with outdoor activity and need some balance...sign up with Jen and Encore Pilates. read more

I have been taking private pilates lessons with Jen after previously taking classes with another trainer. After a year of working with her, I definitely can see the results! Jen is warm, engaging, and ensures that you are doing the exercises correctly engaging your core muscles. If you are injured or not feeling a connection, she quickly adapts the exercise so you continue to obtain a focused workout. Often working out can be a chore, but pilates with Jen is something I look forward to every week. I highly recommend Encore Pilates as a place to help you achieve your fitness goals. read more

I have been working with Jen for over 6 months & everytime I come to my class I leave with more strength in my body & just love the way Jen gives attention to my workout & posture. It's weird in a good way how Jen's instructions keep ringing in my ears even when I am not in class. Thanks Jen read more

I have been going to Encore Pilates for a more than 2.5 years. Jen is a great instructor and pays a lot of attention to individual cues to help me get the most out the workout. During this COVID times, she has also been able to translate her instruction through Zoom. And class is always filled with laughter! read more

I've been seeing Jennifer for one-on-one as well as for group circuit classes for almost a year. Not only does Jennifer tailor the session to you and your needs, but she's always improving her strategy and style to help you get the best results possible. In the first four months alone, I lost ten pounds, over four inches in my waist, over two inches in my hips, and over two inches in my thighs, all from weekly one-on-one sessions and one weekly circuit class! The best part is that I saw this progress without having to go bankrupt; Jennifer offers very competitive prices and makes every session or class worth your time and money. I recommend Jennifer and Encore Pilates to everyone I know because it has changed my life! read more

This month marks my 8 year anniversary of training with Jennifer. My body has become stronger and healthier, but that's not all; my time here in her studio is like therapy! The nurturing guidance from Jennifer and the friendships I have forged over the years make training here one of the best things in my life. If you would like to come join us at this wonderful place, please just be aware the classes are by appointment only (not walk-in), and the parking spots are for students who are in the studio at that very moment. Jennifer is lovingly protective of her students so she tries to make sure the parking spots aren't taken by others, when we arrive. If you have questions about pricing or availability, just give her a call or send her an email. She will be more than happy to talk with you and help you! read more

Pilates at Encore with Jennifer Owens is wonderful! It's wonderful, for me, for so many reasons, so let me list the ways: * It's great for my back and neck...I've gone into a Pilates class with a crick in my neck and by using good form the entire class, my neck is much better when done. * It's good for my core, which I use every day and every way. I teach spinning and I use a lot of the form techniques in my class as I am also very form-centric when I coach * I learned that I don't have to do 10K repetitions to get a good workout or work with super heavy weight. Pilates is an intentional exercise where I focus on my form and core above all and sometimes that means you I less resistance and less repetitions. I still get a fantastic workout where you might I be able to blow dry my hair the next day occasionally! * Jennifer is such a great teacher...she focuses on form and breath and keeps the workouts interesting and challenging. She creates the workout suited to your level and challenges you to give that "extra inch" :) The location is a good one, just at the end of downtown Willow Glen. The parking can get a little messy in the back but you can always park on the street in the front of the building. You may start out doing Pilates the first time and think "I don't feel this." By the middle of class you are thinking "Why can't I stop shaking?" What looks like a piece of cake can be challenging and satisfying if done right. Choose Encore if you are looking to learn how to do it right! I've been doing it for 3 years now and I'm in it for life! read more

continuing to give one star. as who I assume is the owner says she's sorry that I felt I was mistreated instead of simply saying sorry for mistreating you. I don't care what the circumstances were it's not ok to talk to anyone like that. if you mess up just own up to it. I would have changed my rating if you had. read more

I'm a workout aficionado that hates working out if that makes any sense. Jen has renewed my interest in regularly working out! Mostly because Pilates and her instruction focuses on good form instead of 100 reps in 1 minute. It's been 4 months or so and my back pain is gone and my hips aren't in knots. She gives a complimentary session so no need to hesitate. read more

I met Jennifer two years ago when my friends convinced me to try a Pilates class. I was hooked after the second class and have attended group reformer classes twice weekly since then. I was skeptical at first, but can honestly say that the classes have helped my core, balance, and overall health. In 2013 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I kept up my Pilates classes throughout surgery, chemo, and radiation. I can honestly say that Jennifer's classes helped me get through. If you have not tried Pilates - do so - and try Encore. read more

I have 4 young kids. I have no time to do anything, let alone do pilates, or even write this review. But here I am opening a yelp account, writing this review, all for Jennifer, the owner/manager/instructor. After 4 kids, my ab muscles may as well not have existed. I struggled to hold my youngest. I was pathetically weak at first, but after a few months, my core was significantly stronger, and I can now carry my 4 year old with ease. Jennifer is particular about technique, which means that you get the most efficient workout possible, working the correct muscles the most effectively. She also changes up the workout so it never gets boring. Jennifer is also professional without being stuffy, friendly with a great sense of humor without sacrificing your workout. She is fastidious about cleanliness and ambiance. Her equipment is new and well maintained. In a nutshell, Jennifer is always there for you, 100%. read more

I knew nothing about Pilates and started with the encouragement of my wife who followed the teacher in her new studio. After a decade, my wife quit her health club as Jen started her own studio. She is that good at her profession and have a following who is loyal to her well earned trust & respect. I learned to to use my core muscles, added strength to my body, lost an inch or more around my waist, relieved myself from low back pain. I can pedal with less effort using my core now. My bike commute is easier and faster now as i engage my inner core i was ignorant of. This has been nothing but a benefit to me and thanks probably to the excellent coaching i received from Jen. The private lessons allowed her to customize the instructions so I can focus on my brain learning how to activate and leverage muscles i did not know how to engage. Classes are fun with mixture of exercises (reformer, mat, ..). Never boring, always challenging but a good feeling afterwards even when I ride back 7mi on the bike. Yes, I do a round trip 14 mi before Pilates whenever i can. Not only the teacher/owner Jen is great at what she does but her place immaculate, safe, clean, well cared for. She has new equipment that is spotless. She is very attentive to the safety of her students. It is a nice and comfortable atmosphere that we feel fortunate we can also bring our early teen runner son. It does enhance his performance as well. If you ever wanted to dip your toes to try, watch out, you might find you get hooked to it and get biased the way Jen does her Pilates coaching. read more

I enjoy the group Pilate classes very much. Our groups are usually 2 to 4 people and this allows Jennifer to tailor her instruction to our specific needs. Her sense of humor combined with her keen attention to details makes our hour of full body work out go by in a flash. I felt the benefits of the class within two sessions. She is iron fist in a velvet glove! Catherine, San Jose read more

Beginner or Expert - I highly recommend Jennifer at Encore Pilates. I stared as a newbie and have been participating in Jen's group classes for 2 years. Reasons I love Jen: 1. Stickler for form so you get the most effective workout 2. She mixes it up so you never get bored 3. Will give alternate exercises if needed Great place to learn proper pilates form - you will work hard and have fun! read more

Jennifer Owens at Encore Pilates has transformed my body in less then two months and I couldn't be happier! I am lean and toned all over. Her private lessons are perfect for understanding how it all works and her classes are great fun while getting an amazing workout. I love going to her beautiful studio three days a week. I've tried lots of different things from yoga to gyms and this is the best, most enjoyable workout that I've ever done - by far! read more

After a long hiatus I was excited to get back to Pilates. Jennifer was the perfect trainer to get me back into shape. Her style is focused and demanding, working every muscle. She offers both one on one and group settings depending on the needs and goals of the client. Since Encore is only open by appointment, the best way to reach Jen is usually by phone to get pricing or availability. I'm still loving going for workouts that never get old or repetitive and make me feel stronger all the time. read more

I was SOOO lucky to find Jen 4 years ago through a friend of mine. I knew absolutely nothing about Pilates. I was looking to get into shape for my wedding and thought I would give it a try. I have tried every exercise under the sun, but nothing left me feeling quite like I did with Pilates. I always leave refreshed, energized and toned! I wanted to be toned and not body builder status. There are a lot of instructors that I have seen that focus on that, but Jen focuses on building "lean muscle." She is so patient and easy to work with. Jen is a total stickler on form! She will constantly remind you, BUT it is such a good thing because your form is key to success and injury free Pilates! She listens to the concerns or problem areas you have with your body and comes up with a specialized workouts just for you. I love that she can think on the fly about what exercises to put me through. Sometimes she will come in thinking she is going to do one routine with me and then we leave having done something completely different. There are times I will say, "Can we just work on this area" or "I worked this last night on my own, could we try something else." She is always happy to change things up to accommodate my needs. I don't think I have ever had the same workout with her. I love that she changes up the workout routines to keep it interesting and to continuously making me feel challenged. No matter what your injury may be, Jen can always work around it and will still provide you with an amazing session. Even when I was pregnant I went to Jen! She was always very careful about what exercises to have me perform and always made sure I kept checking in with my doctor to see if there were any restrictions. I absolutely love that "next morning" feeling after a session with Jen because my body feels so good! It doesn't feel torn apart or so sore I can't get out of bed, but my muscles feel tight and lean. If you have ever worked with Jen or are currently working with her, you know how lucky you are! She is an incredible teacher and truly knows her Pilates. Her studio is always slammed with people so you know it has to be good! The time and dedication she puts into her clients is incredible. She truly cares for each one of her clients. Her rates are VERY reasonable, especially for what you get. She is beyond talented and remarkable. I cannot recommend her enough. PLEASE do yourself a favor and set up a session with her....NOW! Whether you are looking to tone your body or are trying to heal aching back problems, you NEED Jen in your life. I promise you she is worth every penny! read more

I kbew that i would lime this. Jennifer is such a good coach. She cues well and has a nice calm demeanor. I A mfamiliar with some of the mat moves already but there were some i have never done before and they were a nice surprise. It was an overall fabulous workout. The time flew by and i enjoyed Jennifer as an instructor. The workout was sychronizef perfectly. read more

I've been with Jennifer for over two years now and I have loved every second. In addition to my core feeling the best it has ever felt, my understanding of my body and building strength has never been so acute. I was previously with a larger studio and wasn't at all getting the same benefit as I do with Jen; she keeps her classes small to ensure proper form, thus maximum results. Through a 70lb weight loss as well as a post twin pregnancy, Jen has saved my back, strengthened my core and toned me up. I really appreciate her meticulous understanding of our bodies and attention to making sure I am in proper form. read more

Having came from Core Studio in Palo Alto its apparent that these people have no clue what they are doing. I had a terrible experience and will not be back. If I could give zero stars I would. I have been doing Pilates for many years and this is the worst place I have been to. Definitely check out another place first before coming here! read more

As you can see from the other reviews, Jennifer is awesome. I am new to Pilates, have never tried it before, and I didnt want to just try the group classes at my gym since I wouldnt know what I'm doing. I also didn't want to feel discouraged/intimidated by being tossed in with more advanced students. So I tried the free class and Jennifer is very nice, she is very articulate and able to tell me exactly how to adjust my movements and form. Her passion for what she does come across, and she genuinely cares that you do it the right way, motivating and encouraging when you do get it, and very patiently guide you through it when you don't. She is super accommodating and flexible as well (within her guidelines of cancellation policy, etc) but goes the extra mile to try and make it work for you and your schedule. Jennifer is the real deal. read more

What a great workout! I've been training with Jennifer for almost 3 years now. She is the main reason I have recovered from severe injury to my abdominal muscles during pregnancy and birth. I went from living with daily back pain and low self-esteem to looking and feeling great with absolutely ZERO back pain. As my daughter gets bigger and bigger, I am getting strong enough to be that mom who will get out there and try something new with her. I was working out wrong before Jennifer taught me about Pilates form. All those workouts I did before Pilates were actually tearing apart my core muscles more, making my injury worse! Now I can tackle any workout with confidence by applying the principles I've learned from Jennifer. Jennifer is honest and friendly, always keeping a close eye on her clients and ready to modify a workout to help you work efficiently. Even after 3 years, she still comes in with new positions and creative approaches to working out. I especially love her new circuit class, it is so much fun! The studio is clean, modern, and welcoming. Jennifer creates a safe and peaceful environment that is perfect for Pilates. I am always looking forward to my next class with Jennifer. Who knew that strength in your core is essential to pretty much everything you do?!? read more
