The food here is delicious! No complain about that. But they definitely need better staff. I ordered an arepa and a drink and an hour and 20mins passed by. I called to ask about my order. The lady on the phone sounded surprised and said she was going to call the guy to ask what happened. 10mins later I called again to ask and didn't answer. Finally he arrived. He literally stood infront of my apartment for a good min on his phone. I don't know if the lady forgot my order because she tried acting surprised when I called or the guy just hates his job that much to stand infront of me with his phone. While there's plenty of places go to for a burger in Queens, this place definitely lands on my top 5 favorite burger places. They have an ABC menu: Arepas, Burgers, and Cachapa. I personally like their Hawaiian Burger and Perico Pepiada, but don't take my word for it. Their Hawaiian Burger is down-right amazing. You know how some places serves you a patty and you know its frozen and flavorless and regardless of all the condiments you add to the darn thing, it just doesn't taste right. This place packs their burger with so much darn flavors, your tastebuds won't know what to do. Their burger meat is seasoned to perfection and when they add on the pineapple and crush potato chips it adds for a harmonious burger delight. Your arteries will ask you, why are you doing this to me?! You'll say for the love of the burger. The Perico Pepiada, is self-explanatory but so darn delicious. You have your scramble eggs, cheese, sweet plantain, and avocado. Grab yourself an orange juice and call it a breakfast. I would recommend adding on the cilantro green mayo. I had some hit and miss with the corn cake for this item (sometimes it comes super hard or it's too soft) but dude, either way, it's still good. You just gotta chew a little more than usual, so hopefully they can perfect the right amount of time to place this on the griddle. This was a great place to have breakfast! The restaurant was really clean and they had all the Venezuelan beverage you can imagine: colita, mora, chica, malta etc. They also have salsa de maíz (which is really hard to come across in the USA) the place offered great customer service and great food as well. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this really seemed disrespectful to me in terms of service, the boy, his name is Oswaldo, when he took my account without printing the invoice, he gave me the total amount of the account without telling me that he had the tip included, I leave him 20% of my part when I swipe the card on the device and he doesn't print the invoice either, I ask him to send it to me by message or phone and he did as if he had done it, but he didn't, so I insist that the bill had not yet arrived and so I give him my phone number again, after this I noticed him nervous and when I see the bill, he had already charged me a 15% tip without notifying me (this is not legal) I understand that there are people who do not leave a good tip and that is part of their salary, but I am obligatorily leaving a 35% tip to a person because I was already giving them 20%, they should have at least notified me beforehand and print the receipt what he was doing because it's not legal. To top it off, he was rude when I asked him if he had already charged me the tip before paying because he didn't notify me, and his answer was that if he wanted me to refund the money, I said no because I didn't want to be as rude as him and Obviously he needs it more than me. What a lousy service, I'm sorry. I feel sorry for Yubel and his wife because the food is excellent, but unfortunately sometimes we make the mistake of hiring people because they do poor service. This entire experience was awful. I places my order through yelp, the quoted delivery time was 30minutes. My food arrived an hour and 30minutes later. The restaurant didn't pick up the phone I called a minimum of 10 times, when they finally picked up they apologized and claimed to be busy. Arepa Burger opened not to long ago around my neighborhood and I find myself here a lot. They have a lot of twist on their foods which could be a blessing and a curse. In this case, it was a blessing. For example, I ordered an arepa burger and I pleasantly surprised to taste that they had added sweet plantains which contrasted but yet helped appreciate everything else in the burger. They have this green sauce that goes great with every single thing on the menu from the arepa burger, to the fries, and even the tostones sandwich. I ordered a natural passion fruit juice that wasn't too heavy or too sweet, it was just so refreshing. And if you want to end your meal with something sweet I recommend the churros with Nutella. They are to die for. Sometimes I go in and just get that. I'm not going to lie the location is really small but the interior design makes me feel like I'm in a Spanish country waiting on some authentic food. Over the counter you can see the chefs making the food. They take a very long time to make the food but at the end of the way it was very much worth it From a fat kid at heart I will recommend this place to anyone willing to try something new and fresh.
