If you were to say I only came around this particular spot because of the current events going on in Venezuela, you might be right. I've visited many Latin American restaurants but I don't think I've checked the box next to Venezuela so this would be a first time entry for me. Going inside the area, it's relatively small but since I was the only customer at the time, it was spacious. The waitress Paula was a sweetheart and served me well as I was figuring what to take on in this restaurant. I went for the standard Arepa Burger, fries and for dessert, I did want the brownie with ice cream but they didn't have that available so I settled for churros with nutella. The wait wasn't too long, very much short of 8 minutes when everything was set. The Arepa burger came loaded with Shredded beef & Chicken, black beans, Shredded white cheese & maduros. For what it's worth, you'll get your fill from this makeshift burger, it was so filling. The fries were done with excellent detail, firm crisp texture along with taste and goes pretty well with the Ketchup & Mayo mixture the place had with one of their condiment bottles. When it came time to take on the churros, I immediately got thrown off because they're not the churros I'm normally used to. Instead what was smothered with the nutella happened to be cheese sticks and at first I thought it was a mistake but seeing pictures on here, that's basically what it is. I do love cheese sticks and I do love nutella, but in my opinion they're not meant to be combined so I had to forgo it. Everything else was top notch. The food was very decent and the service was proper so everything I got was $23 and I threw in a $7 tip to round it off to $30 total for the meal. They got many different variants of Arepa sandwiches so there is certainly revisit value in this place and I can go for that. read more

I like arepas and Venezuelan food in general... but, in NYC... I just don't feel it's worth the price. It's been a many moons since I had a proper "Reina Pepia'" and I certainly don't remember it the way they serve it at Arepas Burger. Their is not bad... but, I'd like the chicken in it to have more presence. Their tequeños are alright (obviously, they'd be a infinitely better when they are piping hot), their Chicha was definitely a delightful treat... but, not at $9/cup. The burgers are good, but, $16 (just a burger, not a meal) is getting close to midtown prices. Their food is definitely pretty good and the prices are lower at the store, but, we will definitely not be ordering again any time soon (maybe for pick up if we happen to be in their neck of the woods). read more

Small restaurant with a few table seating, came for brunch on a Saturday while getting my car serviced. Side of loaded fries with chicharron, bacon - fries were nice and crispy. Chicharron was so nicely smoked and crunchy. Arepa pabellon - way smaller than expected but decent. Chicharron and picanha Cachapa - wow these were huge. Like 2 meals. Again Delicious smoked Chicharron complements sweet cachapa well. Picanha was Delicious and tender. However, maybe would get another kind of meat since the appetizer also had chicharron. A little redundant. I recommend cachapa. I suggest to be some vegetables in these dishes to provide contrast to taste and texture instead of just all meat. But otherwise, satisfied. read more

Be prepared for an extremely filling meal from Arepas Burger. Their burgers are a bit on the pricier side, but for how much you get? I'd say it's a good deal. The burgers are really unique, massive, and delicious. My only real complaint was that the staff member I ran into when grabbing my togo order wasn't particularly friendly. The arepas are kinda small for $15-$18. The flavor is almost there, but you definitely have to add the green or pink sauce to make it more digestible. The location is small and you do wait about 15 minutes roughly for your food. This is definitely a pass in my book. read more

What a happy little find. I have not tried their arepas yet. Although, I have tried their burgers and they are pretty great. What initially sold us on this place when walking around in the cold for outdoor dining was the heated huts in front. They really went the distance to make sure there was a nicely heated and well ventilated space for people to dine in out front. No one was inside and it was like striking the gold mine. I went with a hawaiian burger. Guilty as charged. I like everything slathered in pineapple and cheese. What's unique about these burgers - they pile on things like thinly sliced and crushed potato chip crisps. It reminds me of a brazilian type of burger or sandwich. The only thing I would change is that they use a pineapple compote instead of actual chunks of fruit and I think I'd prefer the latter. But that's just my personal preference. The sauce here is where they shine. Green garlic sauce - amazing. Pink sauce - amazing. I used to joke about how these sauces impregnate me. They still do the trick. Oh my - so these arepas and burgers are legit. They are huge and flavorful. Love when you song even have to ask for extra pink sauce. Due to covid I got it for take out but was impressed how everything was neatly packed even to go. The tropical burger was huge already so I'm shocked they have doubles and stuff. It comes with all the fatty goodness of ham back and of course the meat. The Cachapa Pabellon (yellow corn sweet) was also huge. Glad they don't put calorie counts on these menus.... My daughter and I wandered into this restaurant looking for a nice bite to eat. The server was very nice and attentive, he also made recommendations and was very helpful. We started off with empanadas and they were huge! We were not expecting them to be so big, we were so hungry we forgot to take a picture. The only downside, which is really important to me, is that there's no restroom. Street food in a sit down small restaurant located in Jackson Heights. It's true you can find plenty of these around but this spot is very generous with their fillings. You can see the kitchen and the chef at work so you don't have to doubt the cleanliness of your food. We opted for the arepas burger which was filled with chicken, beef, black beans, plantains, cheese and avocado. The chicken had a saison flavoring on it and the meat had some kind of tomato sauce. The sweetness of the plantains along with the buttery taste of the avocado give you a fiesta in your mouth. It is heavy but all the flavors work well together. It's very filling and when you finish there are no regrets. 2 types of sauces are provided if you want to add more flavor: a mix of Mayo and ketchup and a mild cilantro sauce. You won't need those for this burger. Then you have the churros. It is so hard to find good churros nowadays They do not make them like they used to make them fresh under the Subway. Churros from here come accompanied with nutella and are fried fresh not prefried and left under a heating light. The churros are crunchy on the outside but you still get the softness of the dough from the inside. Of course the nutella makes them even better but on their own the batter has a slight sweetness too. Very tasty whether you go with them plain or drenched. The food is good BUT it's poisonous. Be aware when you eat here no matter how good it taste it's dirty food. Every time i eat here (3 times this year) i get a really bad stomachache and i have puked twice. My family and friends came here as well and got food poison as well. I really dont recommend this place if your stomach is "weak" although i dont think that's an excuse for dirty food to be consumed. This place is delicious. Down side is tiny and does not have a bathroom. Great prices for NY. Tequeños are amazing, because the cheesy is salty as it supposed to be. My husband (non Venezuelan) love the pelua arepa, has cheese and beef. I looove the cachapa and the patacon. Their garlic salsa is also worth trying. We usually do pick up because it can get crowded. The food here is good but unfortunately, it sent me straight to the ER with a bad case of food poisoning. I know that it was this place because I hadn't eaten anything else that day. I had a pabellon bowl and the avocado that came with it had big black spots. I had the good sense to throw the avocado out but ended up eating the rest of the bowl.
