As a doctor, whose role is to serve and out of respect for his patients, Dr. An attitude was abysmal. He repeatedly required patients with return visits, if not, it will terminate their prescription drug authorization and withhold their visits. The consultation was slapdash, requiring patients to spend a considerable amount of money for a brief conversation that ended in five minutes. Dr Ann is a terrible doctor would not recommend, he completely discouraged and degraded me to a point of making me feel like a hopeless failure saying I would never be able to drive my infant daughter anywhere legally,, I got a second opinion and got my license back. I had a couple of appointments at this location with DR Lize Phan. I have nothing but positive things to say about her. I found her to be very professional, kind, and patient. I can tell that she really cares about her patients and their complaints. She really took the time to address all my worries. Dr Phan definitely knows what she's doing and I would recommend anyone who needs neuro treatment to come and see her. Two very disappointing experiences with Dr. Richard Shubin and Medical Assistant Natasha. Dr. Shubin was referred as an expert in MS neurology so my mother and I were looking forward to meeting with him. He did not greet us/introduce himself, barely made eye contact when talking/asking questions, checked his phone multiple times instead of listening, started stressing the importance of taking pharmaceutical drugs before performing a full assessment/history of the patient, seemed upset when we asked questions, and took an often condescending tone. This entire interaction occurred with his office door wide open, allowing others to hear very personal information being shared. After a tense, uncomfortable, and short meeting with Dr. Shubin we were sent over to the Medical Assistant. Natasha also did not greet us and seemed very annoyed with our mere presence when discussing next steps. When only 1 test was scheduled with radiology, we called the office to ask if this was correct as we were under the impression there would be more. Natasha was rude and short on the phone but confirmed the correct test requests were sent to our insurance/radiology. Fast forward a few weeks, we are scheduled to meet with Dr. Shubin to discuss the results of the tests. He quickly runs through a list of personal questions again with the door open in an office that has very little privacy. He then mentions radiology failed to do all the necessary tests and we would need to go back to get the correct test done as well as come back to his office another time to have him share the results. This was upsetting to hear as this meant paying another pricey co-pay and seeing him again which we had very little interest in. Why didn't they just call us and tell us this? We were confused how this mix up even happened and asked Natasha if she could share a copy of the request she sent to insurance/radiology originally as both our insurance and radiology confirmed only one test was requested, not the two Natasha claimed were requested. Dr. Shubin stated they were too busy and they refused to provide the file to show what tests they requested. It was clear a mistake was made on their end but they were adamant on placing blame elsewhere and very unapologetic. We came to a mutual agreement that results would be mailed so we would not have to interact again. We truly wish we had seen the several other negative reviews about this office, staff, and Dr. Shubin online as we would not have wasted our time or money. It took months to get these appointments scheduled so it was extremely upsetting to be treated this way. Find an office, staff, and Doctor that respects you, treats you well, and does not make costly/time consuming mistakes. On a positive note, I will say the lovely young man at reception who checks patients in was always friendly, professional, and a true example of what qualities his colleagues should exhibit. read more

Poor Doctor... poor office staff. I've been a patient since 2009 and have had enough. 1) Be prepared to wait 30 minutes to 2 hours after your appointment to see Dr.Wogensen even as his "first" appointment on the schedule. 2) Be prepared to get poor to bad service from his assistant Jennifer. Don't call her and expect results. 3) I don't think Wogensen cares much at all about his patients. Jennifer certainly doesn't. We're just a revolving door of patients. A few visits and phone calls and you'll see. You'll never be able to speak to Wogensen on the phone. All messages are relayed through Jennifer. You only speak to the doctor when you actually get to see him. Maybe another neurologist in the medical group is a better choice but don't go to Wogensen. You've been warned. read more

The appointment process is awful, as is mentioned in other reviews. The girl who takes appointments plays games. I mentioned the primary care Dr. referred me to a Dr. there and she said there was "no such Dr. at this office." Then I mentioned "my previous Dr. was Shubin, who died recently, can I have a living neurologist please? Any Dr. will do. Time is crucial when you have a terminal condition." She then admitted she knew the Dr. I was talking about, but he worked in another office. Anyhow, she booked me with a Dr. 5 weeks wait. Then 3 weeks later, she called to say that Dr. doesn't take my insurance after all. So then booked me with Dr. Phan. Went to the appointment and waited 45 minutes. I walked out. Will never go back. These people went to University and got stupid. read more

Dr. Kenneth never diagnosed me just kept prescribing me drugs. Every visit was a 5 minute "hello how've you been, let me take your blood pressure, ok here's more medicine see you next time". Total waste of time & money. read more

Trying to make an appointment here is the most frustrating thing ever. It's like they don't want you here.

I am a 30 year old fit male that was diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS through Arcadia Neurology over 2 years ago. Dr. Shubin was my Neurologist for over a year where I learned of his negligence and lack of compassion. He seems to have a more geriatric patient base and had no valid efforts in truly helping treat me. It felt more like pain management and false hope. He put me on a drug (Tysabri) that wasn't for my type of MS and kept me on it for a year "because it couldn't hurt and maybe helped slow down my progression". During this time my hopes were put into an FDA waiting to be approved drug (Ocrelizumab) one of the first drugs to show promise for PPMS. He told me I was a candidate for a clinical trial of the drug and was just waiting to hear back about more information. He lied to me to sound prestigious and said he and a dr. in San Diego were the only ones getting access to this clinical trial. I was finally notified for the trial and was a perfect candidate, EXCEPT Tysabri is a direct conflict and I have to be off it for 6 months to get into the trial. After a 10 minute internet search I found the trial details that specifically state Tysabri is a conflict for 6 months. Outraged I have left Dr. Shubin and found a better Neurologist who, surprise, also has access to the trial. I now have to wait 6 months to cleanse of Tysabri before I can start. And with a disease where I get worse every few weeks, Dr. Shubin's negligence has directly cost me my strength and health. I have wasted 1.5 years of my health waiting for careless Dr. Shubin to do nothing for me and hinder me from drugs that would otherwise be available now. As for the rest of the staff, Dr. Rami Apelian was great and was the one who diagnosed me. He just didn't have the specialty in MS and referred me to Dr. Shubin. Their front desk receptionist was usually quite rude and treated me as a chore. And Dr. Shubin's receptionist was REALLY bad at her job and would forget to make calls on my behalf, or return my calls, or contact me with necessary updates on my treatments. read more

I had a horrible experience with Dr. An. I challenged his diagnosis and he started yelling at me about how he has all these degrees and certifications. Meanwhile, I'm just a stupid patient trying to be heard about what's going on. Insist and you will be annihilated. So, I resolved never to go back. I begged my doctor to never send me to him again. Girl up front is totally mean and rude. She laughed when our wheel chair got stuck in the front door. Then I told the manager and she didn't believe me. I totally had to get loud when the doctor heard us yelling he came out and pulled the manager in the back. We then ended up waiting 40 over our appointment time. The lady next to us said this office is always behind. While waiting I called my insurance company and they gave me another doctor. They had 3 complaints in the insurance company system and are under investigation! When we heard that we left. If you need a neuro doctor this isn't the place to go to. My visit with Dr. An was terrible. If you want a doctor that doesn't listen to you, lacks compassion, treat you like you are just a statistic on a piece of paper, and answer phone calls during his appointment with you, than this is your doctor. His condescending tone was a nice cherry on top of my awful visit. There's another doctor here named Dr. Shubin who isn't really Mr. Personality either. The crass and rude front office staff was also not very helpful. They ignore you and act like they are doing you a favor when they help you. What's with this office? my first and only meeting with wogensen (i cant call him doctor) began with me telling him all the pain i was in, i have postherpetic neuralgia,and wanted an mri taken and possibly a new treatment.then while i was talking i saw him yawning and a couple minutes later yawning again, he then got up and touched my back to see where my pain was ,i took off my shirt and showed him the outbreak of leasions he tells me to put my shirt back on and that he will see me next week for a test and left the room. i ask the woman making the appt. what kind of test and she tells me she doesnt know. a week later i show up and the lady tells me he cant see me because he had a conference to attend. nobody let me know.going back to my car in the parking lot i see him coming out the back door with a brief case going to his car, he was there all the time. now im starting to get his bills i dont want to pay but i guess i'll have to,please avoid this man if you can. read more

Wow. I was just reading an article about doctors and Yelp reviews and how they can't respond without violating HIPAA, and wondered if I had ever rated this place. I want to do so now because I depend on Yelp reviews myself, and for anyone looking at this practice, the reviews here paint a very incomplete picture. My primary care provider sent me here several years ago and I return every 6-12 months to monitor a peripheral neuropathy. I really have no complaints about this place! I see Dr. An. He started with a conductivity test to evaluate things. This was uncomfortable, but that's the nature of the test itself; I had read about that beforehand. Unlike many doctors I've seen, he's always listened to me and treated me with respect. Unlike other reviewers, I guess I've never argued with him about diagnoses :-^. And yes, he did take a phone call once during my appointment, saying afterward that it was from an ER and that he had to cover it; I don't have a problem with that. It was less than a minute out of my appointment. The counter staff is friendly enough, about as friendly as any other doctor's office. One time the person ahead of me in line loudly abused the counter person -- he swore at her for asking for his insurance card or something -- and she just accepted it when I would have told him to act like a civilized adult or get out. In short, if you've been referred here, I would go without worry and see what they have to say. I have no problems with this office at all, and Dr. An, while he might sometimes seem brusque, actually strikes me as a very caring and competent doctor, even if he doesn't always tell me what I want to hear :-^. read more

Had 10:00 AM appointment for an EEG nerve test with Dr Wogensen. I arrived at 9:55 with only one other individual in the waiting room ahead of me. I sat there till 11:00 before asking the desk what was going on. They said he was running a little behind and it should only be a few more minutes. At 11:30 I told them I was not waiting any longer and I left. It's disgusting when doctors have no respect for their patients time. Watch them try to bill me now. read more

Dr. Apelian has been my neurologist for almost three years and he is fabulous. Every person that works there is very caring and extremely compassionate. I highly recommend this practice. read more

Wow the front office lady that checks you in is very rude. She is not friendly and very much treats you like a number. Very sharp attitude no smile and does not look at you. Doctors seem to be pretty good. I would give it four stars if the front had a bedside manor that is equal to their physicians. For me I change my physicians when I have someone at the front office like this. read more

I have always had a good experience with this practice. The doctors are knowledgeable (I have been seen for optic migraines for 7-8 years). I have always had good follow up, good care and the staff has always been organized and friendly. I have seen a few doctors at this practice but most recently have been with Doctor Apelian and he is great! The offices are well maintained and put you at ease when you are waiting to be seen, much better than many other doctors offices I have waited in! read more
