I was in a car accident that changed my life for the worst back in 2018. For about 10 months after the accident, I had daily vomiting from the pain I was in. I will keep a long story short, and say that I was able to access a better network of doctors by getting insurance through my workplace instead of through Covered CA. Dr. Brizuela promised me that he would partner with me to improve my condition and health and refer to experts for anything he couldn't figure out. HE HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!!! I am not crier. But every time I am in his office and tell him how I'm feeling better and slowly but surely returning to "normal" activities, I start crying when I feel the hope swell up within me to return to my life of health and fitness. (I was training for my first bikini competition prior to the car accident.) He is very kind, empathetic, and truly listens to your concerns and responds with kindness and care that improves your condition. The office staff does not follow up with requests for follow up orders even after repeated messages from me or the imaging company. It's frustrating when you speak to the office and the promise to do something and then it never happens. They don't care about the patient's health is the bottom line. read more

I feel as if I was just dropped off.. by Dr Lise Phan; no referrals to a specialist or nothing!!!

I'd already left one review but after an encounter just yesterday, I HAD to come back again. His staff are completely incompetent and undereducated. At one time BEFORE the Dr. was a part of some consortium or something (called West Coast Neurology...none of whom are good, caring doctors) there was just one set of staff. They were competent. I had no issues with their work. After he separated and got his own staff (which I'll also note have NO diversity at all) have been horrible and uum, not very bright/intelligent. This matters! As a patient you want competent, well trained folks involved in your health care (medications, etc). On a prior occasion his staff didn't understand simple middle-school math which MatterS, especially when it comes to meds' dosage, for goodness sake. Yesterday I called to fix a situation with not receiving my meds. The pharmacy refused to fill my RX because of the errors made by Dr. B's staff, specifically Sajona (per the pharmacy who actually spoke with her). She had put in order for my meds to be in the form of syringes. I've NEVER received them in that way except for once by Dr.B staff error that time too. My meds are supposed to be auto-injectors. I was referred to Dr. B's assistant, Arianna, to correct this mistake, along with Another mistake with the same meds. My last rct. of these meds was too much. I received a 3 month supply all at once. I'm supposed to receive only a 30-day/one month supply at a time. This needs to be refrigerated. Auto injections take up a lot of space in the fridge and/so 3 mos. worth is too much, not to mention the 'freshness/viabilty' aspect. Arianna claimed that this was an error on the part of the authorizing medical MedRx because said the Dr.'s original order was for a 3mo. supply. I told her that she was Wrong, I've had this Dr. for at least 10 years and never got 3 mos. supply all at once except for now.The Dr. has to reissue/redo Authorizations for these meds every 3mos. but Not a 3 month supply. I had to explain this to Aurianna, and I, the patient shouldn't have to explain Her job to her. She insisted that she was looking at the Dr.s order and it was 4 a 3month supply. She refused to take accountability for HER lack of knowledge and said that the insurer must have changed their rules to authorize 3mos. Wrong! I was in a 3-way call with both the Med-RX people and Molina. Med RX pulled my info. and said the Dr.s order was for a 30-day supply only! When I called back to the Dr.s office (and I called Before the end of the office hours) suddenly NO ONE answered the phone! Interesting (because I know they have caller ID/ can see the # that's calling). Incompetent, non-educated, unprofessional, passing the buck, not taking accountability describes this Dr.s staff, periodt! I'm diligently searching elsewhere! read more

I've had multiple sclerosis for 15 years, which was very active until I quit working and started taking a new medication. Dr. Brizuela is phenomenal. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and will find solutions. If you want the best care, it's this doctor. He is well versed in the most current MS medication treatments, and helped me make a plan of what drug to go on next if I ever needed to switch in a couple of years, bc of reoccurring infections. I love Dr. Brizuela. He has the best bedside manner I've ever witnessed from a specialist. To have so much trust in a health care professional is something I'm grateful for. Also hard to get appt He has 3 locations one where I am in San Pedro no one ever answers there and hard to reach or even have a answering service take a message . He had wanted me to get a sleep study all the way up past Pasadena too far for me so I got it done in Torrance near me . I wanted to let him know and see what next steps are. Before giving me a diagnosis after a Brain MRI he wanted the sleep study . Now it's done . I also wanted renewal of medication for Migraines I'm out and can't reach him . Frustrating read more

Dr. Brizuela is WONDERFUL! I suffer from chronic migraines and I have a small brain aneurysm I am living with. It was so scary but he has made it such a breeze. He is so thorough and he genuinely cares about how I am doing. Before Dr. Brizuela I would get migraines 14 times a month. I would throw up, had to wear sunglasses even in the dark, I mean just horrible and now I am thrilled to say my migraines happen so much less often than before I started with him. He is the absolute best. In a mere 20 mins of his time, he was able to diagnose me and change the quality of my life. I had been given so many misdiagnosis of multiple conditions and he was able to take an unreasonable amount info from me and tie it all into one, correct condition. He thoroughly explained all the treatment and medication options to me, as well as side effects, to help me make a decision. He sat down and drew out the medications for me with his explanation. Never in my life has a doctor listened, taught, and cared so well. He is the best doctor I have ever come into contact with in my life, bare none, because he cares. He went as far as listening to me detail all my health issues and manifestations for an hour. He did a complete, thorough neurologic assessment, and took his time. He ordered complete tests and labs to confirm his diagnosis and rule out other possibilities. He treats, cares, and diagnoses incredibly. I have referred everyone I know with neurologic issues to him and will continue to do so. If you struggle with migraines, he will give you your life back without the pain and debilitation. When changing insurances I got a notice from my new insurance company that they do not cover my brand of medication. Within 2 days of contacting his office, I received communications from my insurance company that after speaking with him, they will be covering my medication up indefinitely. This medication changed the quality of my life, giving me my life back, so I was thoroughly impressed and thankful. When I needed an MRI, I was placed in an open MRI (anxiety) within 2 weeks. If you've ever needed labs, imaging, and authorizations through insurance companies and HMOs, you know how amazing this is. I've never seen a doctors office process paperwork and authorizations so quickly and efficiently. read more

This is so average. They lost my paperwork and I waited for weeks more to start getting help and orders sent out. They are a bit unconscious as so many doctors offices are. I submitted to tests which I feel are currently barbaric and in time will be utterly eliminated. The doctor was a bit ham handed and weighty in his administration of said tests. It's funny how they always think tests arent that painful when they aren't the ones undergoing them! Based on my observations, his recommendations and the general vibe, I don't feel I'm going to be healed here. He didn't even bother ordering a new MRI to see how I fare this year, and my insurance certainly would allow that. He is contacted to a lot of weird quacks doctors in Pasadena under the same name of west coast neurology. I have experienced the others on the Raymond ave building and they really suck. read more

Dr B is such a caring doctor. He really listens and he's a great advocate for patient care. He and his staff really work hard to cut through the red tape and get your medications approved. The B is thorough and explains everything in a way most anyone can understand but at the same time it's easy to discern that he is a very knowledgeable and experienced doctor. I've had excellent experiences when calling or visiting the office as my autoimmune disorder can sometimes throw off my schedule. Each time I've interacted with the staff they've been courteous and professional. It's been about a year since I've started seeing Dr. Brizuela for chronic migraines. I can't express how much my life has improved under his care. I've had migraines for over 10 years, and they had gotten much worse over the past five years. I went from intense, debilitating migraines 4-7 times a month with intense nausea, vomiting all day, sensitivity to light/sound, neck pain, etc that lasted several hours or sometimes one or two days, to 1-2 migraines that are less intense and have minimal side effects. I used to take a medication prescribed by my PCP that made me so drowsy I slept most of the day, and it didn't always work. Dr. Brizuela introduced me to two different preventative medications so we could find the right one for me. We also tried two different abortive medications and they really help to stop my migraines quickly and minimize the effects. I never thought I'd be able to get to this point where I feel like migraines don't have a huge impact on me. I can make plans in advance without always worrying about a migraine and having to cancel. I don't have to miss out on days of work and family time each month anymore. From the first visit with Dr. Brizuela I could tell that he really cared for his patients and took time to listen to me. I brought him logs of my migraines with possible triggers, patterns, side effects, medications and length of each migraine and he read through all of it. He took time to really explain how migraines work, the different types of medications that are available, and how they work in the body and helped me find the medications that work best for me. I feel like he's passionate about helping people and takes pride in his work. The team he works with is great too! Everyone is really friendly and informative and the office is always clean. I have suffered from migraines my entire adult life. My migraines put me down for three days. I have horrendous nausea, vomiting, left sided pain and irritability. I have tried various medications, acupuncture, eastern medicinal therapies, oil massage for my head (recommended by my Indian friends), chiropractic adjustments, CBD, diet changes, etc. you name it and I've tried it. I have been seen by many neurologists and kept ALL the d@mn "diaries" they asked me to make. I have been to ER multiple times for pain management only to suffer waiting to be taken back. I began the new regimen and saw results immediately. I went from getting migraines 2-3 times a month to having 1 every couple of months. The pain is NOTHING compared to what it use to be. I got a neurology authorization for Dr B but I took the first available appt with Dr Lise Phan. I am super glad I did! Dr Phan was very thorough with testing and answering my questions. I did not feel rushed and she was very nice and friendly. Every staff member I encountered were also very nice. The office staff are nice, one just called me back and gave me information on another authorization. Basically, they follow through. I did not sit in the waiting room very long but everything did seem very clean as well. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

They can be very rude at times and lie to the doctor about how they treated you. With that said, he is still the best doctor. I'm writing this with a happy heart. I had suffered from migraines most my life unfortunately, it's hereditary my grandmother, mom and uncle also suffer. I was able to control my migraines on some days but my headaches were still debilitating with pain, nausea and vomiting. I Missed out on a lot of my life and my family's. It was depressing not being able to make plan's because I never knew how I was going to feel or plans cut short because I felt so sick and had to be alone in bed...sometimes for days. Dr. Brizuela is a godsend! I can't recommend him highly enough. I've suffered from chronic migraines since I was 8 years old. I've seen other neurologists over the years, but none was able to help me like Dr. Brizuela. He ran tests, asked questions, took time with me, and truly listened to what I said. He is a true educator, as well. He not only listened, but explained what was likely happening and presented a variety of treatment options - even drawing charts on paper to further explain. Since seeing him, we've come up with a treatment plan that has greatly reduced the frequency of my migraines, and on the rare occasion I do get one, I have medication to end the pain. I have been a migraine sufferer since I was 11 years old. I am now in my late 30's, I have been in & out of hospitals, I have gone through some traumatic symptoms that come with these migraines. I have seen many doctors have taken so many medications still do... Dr. Brizuela has listened to my issues and has been the first neurologist to try and help me. He is very informative about medications & injections and what he recommends. I have started my migraine Botox injections about 19 weeks ago with 2 injections in between this time I was extremely scared that there would be no type of relief for that I would continue to live like a chronic migrained Person. About a few days after my second injections appt I started to notice that my migraines weren't as severe as they had been. I went a full 5 weeks without a migraine Now yes headaches in between of course but the migraines had calmed down tremendously. Dr. Arnold Brizuela is NOT an MS Specialist, and knows very little about that disease. He consults with MEDICAL STUDENTS who also know very little about MS, and the COMPLICATIONS, and COMPLEXITIES of that disease. I have been diagnosed with neuropathy as well, and Dr. Brizuela UNDIAGNOSED that as well. I think my podiatrist knew what he was talking about when he examined my feet, and toes. If you do NOT have the right INSURANCE, you get what you get. Not until after my second, or third visit did I realize that this doctors name was mentioned in my MS Support Group, and criticized for UNDIAGNOSING others who also experience MS, and were previously diagnosed by other MS Neurologists, but did not want to travel so far to keep up their appointments. Unfortunately, my previous Neurologist, who had much experience with MS, passed away from cancer, and that was really tragic for many of his patients, and family, of course. read more
