I have been treated by Doctor Minehart for severe pain in my cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine for 5 years. Without Doctor Minehart I would be lost. He is a miracle, Doctor. He is patient, caring and he goes the extra mile to relieve your pain. Doctor has an outstanding office staff and nurses. This has been a nightmare. I saw Dr. Minehart on May 19th. I was initially impressed with his approach to psin. I've had a pinched nerve in my back/L-4, L-5. This has caused pain in my right upper leg. I have suffered for 17 months because of doctors lacking in knowledge and compassion. No one knows the amount of pain you experience with nerve pain until you have experienced it. Dr. Minehart recommendation was an upidural in my lower back. I had some ray of hope, but this ended quickly. He told me that he was on network with Blue Shield PPO. I never heard back from his office. My husband and I made 8 phone calls trying to figure out what the problem was. My husband and I literally drove to his office trying to get an answer. In the meantime, I get a letter from Blue Shield stating the shot was denied because it wasn't nedically necessary. This is because the employee who filled out the request didn't know what she was doing. She didn't put in the appropriate information. My husband and I spoke to the office mgr, Mario. He promised us an answer. He never called us back. BTW: The doctor is not in network. He didn't even know if he was in network. We asked Mario for a cash price. We never received an answer. I guess they dont care about patients. One time I called, the girl at the front desk told me that the doctor sees 40 patients a day. That's another lie. No doctor sees that many patients. This doctor's office is the worst. I can't believe they stay open. Now, here's the cherry on the cake. We get a bill for $1,570.00. All we had was an office visit. When we asked what the price was for an office visit, the doctor said $500.00. The doctor said, "Oh, something is very wrong here." No kidding!! My opinion is to stay far away from this doctor and office. They lie, don't know what they are doing, and never return calls even when they promise to return a call. I had multiple steroid injections, physical therapy, expensive decompression therapy for many weeks, and my pain was consuming my life. Finally I underwent spinal fusion surgery. No relief! Then my incision opened from top to bottom, and I had to undergo another surgery to repair the incision. The business was bought out by an individual who thinks he can do the duties of nurses and doctors because he worked "along side" a doctor for 20 years. The girls at the front desk are rude and will switch up on you in the middle of making an appointment, thus having to explain what you need all over again. They are slow to provide medical records when requested, overall it feels like the new owner is looking for ways to not provide patients with what they need to save money on his end. I have bulging discs, stenosis in a couple of areas on my back, arthritis and more. I went to dr Minehart in 2007 when I picked up a container of water and felt a "crook" in my back. By the time I went to emergency my pain was unbearable. I was on pain pills until I was able to see dr Minehart on a referral. When I told the Dr where and how the pain was he told me he knew exactly what was wrong. He set me up for a procedure the following week and sent me home with a prescription. I had the procedure (which was a set of 3 shots a week apart). The very first shot/procedure took the pain away. I couldn't believe it. I didn't have to see him again until 7 years later when my back started giving me more problems. He keeps me pain free. Dr Minehart truly listens and is concerned with what you say and how you feel. My back is a mess from neck to lower back so I see him for different problems. I have never been disappointed with his treatments. The staff has always been nice and appointments are quick. I personally only had to wait once for some time. I couldn't recommend a better, more concerned pain management dr than Dr Minehart. I just don't know what I'm going to do when he retires! read more

So this review is bitter sweet or just bitter bitter depending on how you want to think about it. I found Dr. Minehart for pain management reasons and I will say he's a very good capable Dr who knows how to find pain. I will not take that away from him. Another good quality about him is he's extremely blunt and honest which is a great thing. Dr, wanted me to get an MRI. Not just any run of the MILL MRI but a 3 T Tesla MRI. So the only place my insurance would cover was in the city of Irvine. I told Drs office staff that they needed to coordinate the MRI appoint with my insurance so that it would be covered at 100%. I speak clear precise english so there is no reason my directions were not followed. Day of the MRI which was this past Friday the 6th I arrive to the facility and they tell me that I'm a "CASH PATIENT" then they told me that my insurance was denied. Almost 2 hours on the phone between Dr Mineharts office staff, my insurance and this facility the issue was resolved where the insurance would pay it, but it was too little too late they gave my appointment away to another patient. If Dr Mineharts office staff were not a bunch of air heads I would not have taken the day off work for the MRI, but nope I was told everything was fine when it was not. Finally got to the truth that the office girls did call my insurance to see if the Irvine facility was in network, but that's all they did. They did not let my insurance set the appointment. So $150.00 wasted from my not going to work, my wifes money from work gone because she took the day off to help me and not even an apology nothing. As good as Dr Mineheart is, him having incompetent office staff who don't listen to or follow directions this reflects badly on Dr unfortunately. Dr. Celeste, Sue and others need to listen, actively listen to your patients and follow the set of directions they are given, not just in one ear and out the other. read more

I injured my back in 1992 and developed a spinal disease thereafter. I suffered from intense back pain and spent 10 years searching for a diagnosis and then I luckily met Dr. Minehart at Advanced Pain Institute. He is the bomb!!! I just love him. On my very first meeting with him he told me, "don't worry...we are going to find out what is wrong with you". It was really music to my ears after years of hearing drs either saying they don't know what's wrong with me or that there was nothing with me. And he did find out!!! He's one of those drs who likes a challenge and wants to help people. So I have been a patient of his for 10 years and he keeps me functioning. My disease is incurable and I still have pain, sometimes extreme, but he treats me quickly and keeps my pain at a manageable level. He is always on top of his game, always keeping up with his field. He is the only dr. who could manage the severity of my disease (I had tried 3 other doctors, one at UCLA who all couldn't handle the intricacy of my disease). Sometimes he gets stressed out (it's tough working with pain patients) and he doesn't take the BS that some patients throw him, but he's always been kind to me and his patients who treat him with respect. Even when my insurance won't pay out, he works with me and never turns me away. The only negative thing I would say is that because he's so good he has a lot of patients and sometimes you have to wait your turn--which sucks for pain patients--but he's always working on ways to facilitate appointments (earlier office hours, etc). But when I need a surgical procedure, they get me in immediately. His office staff are okay and his surgical staff are awesome! He's very mild-mannered and soft-spoken and you can really see his concern for his patients. I just adore him. I honestly wouldn't have a child if it weren't for him and I wouldn't have a life. I literally wouldn't be able to walk if it weren't for him and his persistence. He's the best! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Minehart's since mid February 2020. In a little over a month, he has given me more relief than I've had in years. When I met with Dr. Minehart, I brought him every CT scan, MRI scan and X-ray report I have along with a 4 page Surgery/Procedure list I created. As well as a 2 page Excel spreadsheet of all the doctors I've seen since my pain started over 7 years ago. He spent 2 hours reading every single word of every report. He underlined things, he put stickies next to things for questions he had. Even though his nurses had prescriptions that needed to be signed and questions they needed answered and phone calls coming in, he sat with me and made me feel like I was his most important patient ever. Of all the doctors that I've seen, which include The Spine Institute at UCLA, The Spine Institute at Cedar-Sinai, SCOI (Southern California Orthopedic Institute), Ventura Orthopedics, among other doctors, Dr. Minehart is the only doctor that has made me feel like he really, really cares about me and wants to help me.
