I went to see Dr Ben Yu for various pains in my body. He was very knowledgable and patient. Sometimes he would have me do exercises which didn't seem to relate to my problems, but they actually relieved the pain. Some of the exercises were not intuitive to me, he would try different ways to explain to me. He would take the time to answer my questions of how things work. The demonstration videos that were attached in he home exercises also helped a lot. He genuinely cared about his patients' well being. I really enjoyed working w/ him. Even though at the end my hip was shown in the x-ray to have advanced arthritis and cannot avoid surgery, other areas of my body have really improved due to his care. Wendy is the best! I went in originally for ankle pain and we learned that really my ankle/knee pains where were stemming from and how to work towards strengthening my legs and body. I was training for a half marathon when my injuries happened and with Wendy, I was able to run and complete the race, even though there was some pain, it was manageable and the pain didn't happen til much later. Scheduling is easy, the gym and rooms are clean. Staff were all super friendly. I think what I love most is that some physical therapy offices have you see the PT for just a few mins and then they send you off to work with an aide or assistant. At LPI you stay with your PT the entire session. I plan to go back and do some check ins to hopefully prevent future issues or injuries. read more

Last year I went to Ben suffering from knee pain that limited my ability to walk to the kitchen. He diagnosed a cascade of muscular imabalances and mechanical compensations from inactive glutes all the way to how I breathe and engage my feet with the ground. As an ex-athlete it was incredibly humbling to realize I didn't know how to use my body properly to the point it was hurting my day to day life. After three months with Ben he got me back to where I was mostly pain-free, had a list of techniques and exercises to work from, and was able to start a weightlifing program. The people of LPI are the most welcoming caregivers I have ever met. I have never had so few issues making an appointment, being treated, or receiving replies to inquiries. As for the treatment, I was looking for alternatives to what the typical medical norms presented. I came to LPI in June 2024 when I was deep down in the trenches with low back pain that resulted from an ankle fracture that occurred earlier that year. I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Dr. Sarah Powner from then until July 2025. I cannot recommend Dr. Sarah Powner enough! I reached out to her in April/May 2024 when I was four months postpartum, looking for specialized care for postpartum pelvic floor recovery and diastasis recti rehabilitation. Although my OBGYN referred me to an in-network PT, the location was too far from my home, so I searched for options closer to me. That's how I found LPI through Google and Yelp, and after reading the reviews and exploring their website, I decided to reach out. At first, I hesitated about the cost of the "Mom's Club" PT program, but I ultimately chose to invest in my long-term health and recovery, and I am so glad I did! I worked with Dr. Sarah for six months, and the results were beyond my expectations. My waist returned to its pre-pregnancy size, and I felt even stronger than before giving birth. I've always felt off and twisted, which led to chronic discomfort, but I pushed through and ignored the pain because that's what men do. But then just doing things in my day to day started feeling limited, and simple hikes started making my hip hurt. I went to Dr. Ben to get help with my neck and hip pain. SO glad we were referred to Ben and Longevity & Performance Institute! My teen daughter is a competitive swimmer and injured her shoulder last fall. Have you ever had a physical therapist stick their finger in your mouth? Unheard of right? Ben & his team will literally try everything they can to help you with your issues!! And yes there was a reason to this which was to help loosen a muscle that could help my neck and yes it was sanitary because gloves were used. I worked mostly with Ben & Bryant during my time here. They always made me feel comfortable and pushed me because they wanted me to get better. The exercises are not necessarily easy to do but they do work your muscles in ways you probably haven't done which is why it may be hard. Ben is very knowledgeable about what he's doing as he also explains what he's doing. They unfortunately don't take insurance. I checked out other places before deciding to work with Ben that did take insurance. The insurance places do not give you their full attention and waste a lot of time just massaging or waiting around for a student giving you instructions for simple exercises. I decided to seek out LPI's services after my wife saw Ben's promotional video on Instagram. At first, I was a bit skeptical since as an athlete I have spent a fair amount of time around physical therapists, chiropractors and physicians. But as someone in their mid 50's now and having to deal with some reoccurring aches and pains from years of physical activity, I said what harm could occur from an introductory visit. Ben's knowledge of the human body and how organs, joints and different body parts interact with each other is overwhelming and honestly way more technical than I could comprehend. But where we did connect and find common ground was understanding some of the causes of my discomfort and how do go about managing this. He broke down that I needed to amend and repair certain areas to allow my body to function more naturally and provided exercises to help facilitate this. At the end of the day, my progress is tied directly to the effort expended. Ben cannot force me to be disciplined he can only show me what is causing the discomfort and how to align/mend/adjust my body in a way to work more natural and efficiently. I commend him for his straight forward approach and recognize I have to do the work if I want the results. He is patient, makes every effort to explain and illustrate the movements in the exercise to promote the result he wants. After that, it is the responsibility of every patient to do the work. With his help, I am on the road to recovery. My elbow pain has been reduced and with continued exercises I expect it to go away. Similarly, I have seen greater hip flexibility and over time should improve my range of motion. His time isn't inexpensive but he is trying to get to the root cause of the discomfort and not just a quick fix that comes back in a few months. read more

Dr. Ben Yu is an amazing physical therapist! I came in to see Dr. Yu for a nagging left shoulder (history of subluxation) and upper mid back pain/tightness that started during the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic i was going to the gym 6 days a week and since the pandemic if i was lucky to get out of work (I work in ophthalmology) on time go to the gym once a week. The combination of stress and lack of gym time i feel allowed my body to get into dysfunction. When I started treatment Dr. Yu gave me a breakdown of the process of assessment, explaining what my body was doing, how we can correct it and how long the process may take. My decrease in gym activity coupled with me trying to maintain "good posture" when working had my hip flexors tight causing a tug of war with my mid back trying to maintain positioning along with disengaged glutes and not using diaphragmatic breathing my upper torso had to work a lot. Needed to do hip flexor stretches, glute activation, lat stretches, diaphragmatic breathing, and being okay to sit how my body wants to sit every once in a while. Shoulder needed to be stretched and increase mobility through specific active and passive movements which increased mobility and allowed my shoulder to sit in a better position. Dr. Yu explained a lot of things in detail and gave explanations on why he had me performed certain exercises and how to do them properly or to scale if necessary. He provides you with the necessary tools to help correct the problem, it is up to you as the patient to do the work. He will check in on you to make sure things are going well and if you have any questions or need help with movements you can see him in person or shoot him a video of yourself performing the movement and will provide feedback. Dr. Yu was able to help me resolve the problems that i had developed and provided me with tools to fix said problems if the recur. He works hard to help patients understand how the body works and how it adapts and compensate for dysfunction (which can be a detriment to our ability to function) or inactivation and what we can do to fix those compensation mechanisms. Dr. Yu is highly skilled and knowledgeable in what he does. I would not hesitate to see him again for any problems i may encounter. Pain, especially joint pain, is something that I've always thought was inevitable and a part of aging. Something to simply be tolerated and accepted as a part of life. Allowing it to limit my enjoyment of physical activities and life in general. As someone who's done powerlifting and Crossfit for over ten years, this paradigm was ingrained in me from a young age and widely accepted. It was only upon working with Dr. Yu and his team that I began to dispel this myth for myself. That pain was not and should not simply be accepted as inevitable. That with proper exercises and breathing, we could re-train the body and especially the brain to move better, become stronger, and ultimate live better. I've suffered injuries from Muay Thai kickboxing and jiujitsu: scapula, neck, arm, finger, hip, knee, ankle, and foot to just to name a few. Some are chronic for 8+ years and some acute from competition. The acute injuries were solved very quickly with Dr. Ben and Bryants' help. It was the chronic injuries that proved to be the most challenging as previously I would do sports massage, acupuncture, stim machines, braces, ice, xrays, cryotherapy... all provided just temporary pain relief and information my body already knew. I wanted surgery; I wanted to chop off the body part that kept me painfully awake at night. Dr. Ben helped me rewire my brain on how to move my body and supported me through my rehab through problem solving my symptoms and patiently answering my questions in person and in text during off hours. Three words: Absolutely recommend. I've worked with a couple PTs before LPI. Post-op, my past PTs rehabbed me back to functional living, which is very much appreciated, but in my opinion not enough for the active life I wanted. I felt we weren't getting to the root cause and it's inevitable that I reinjure. Having recurring injuries and pain over a decade inflicted a toll on my mental and physical well being - in comes Dr. Ben and LPI. Two of my chief complaints were my knee popping out of socket during flexion, which will prominently & loudly pop back into place upon forced extension, and the inability to reach full flexion (Asian squat). After 6 sessions, I now have the most flexion in my knee in 13 years with a very quiet reset upon extension. I know I'm not out of the woods yet, because good things take time, but I'm certain I'm on the right path. Not only did Dr. Ben correct my movement pattern, but he set the foundation (quite literally) to rebuild my confidence. If you play any sports and have been injured, you'd know that mental roadblocks are tough to overcome. I came in about 2mons ago because I noticed my right arm suddenly had limited range of motion - something I never had issues w/before. I couldn't comfortably reach behind my back or flip my arm down & back w/o discomfort. Something my left arm could do easily, so it was concerning. Turns out it's my right side (foot/leg/pelvis/etc) has been overcompensating/imbalanced/muscle shortness & over time it affected my arm range as well as other things. Fast forward to now, my range of motion has improved a lot. Can it reach as high as my left yet? Not quite, but I can tell it's getting there. The stability on my right foot has also improve a lot as well. I've been doing the at-home exercises Dr. Ben plans & staying patient. I yap a lot & ask way too many questions mid-session LOL so poor Dr. Ben's been super patient w/me. He's got amazing bedside manner - very thorough, very knowledgeable & great at explaining things in detail. I am so happy I found Ben and his team. Ever since I start climbing, I have been feeling pain on my right side whenever I am in a specific pulling position. I had talked to multiple doctors, but all I got were "rest" and "avoid that position" bits of advice. Around March of 2024 I had some neck soreness, stiffness, and pain. I came across an Instagram ad for Longevity & Performance Institute about a first session at a discount price. Thought it wouldn't hurt to try it. Dr. Benjamin Yu went on an half an hour phone consultation on what exactly is my issues currently and a repeat issues I've had. He said due to my condition, he would love to work with me to fix my problems. Most of my issues stemed from a lack of communication of my cerebral to my body muscles, so Dr. Yu exercises helped me work on connecting the two to get my body to not over compensate for the muscles it didn't use. From April to June, I had a total of 6 sessions with Dr. Yu. He was able to finish working on my 2 issues I brought up to him within the first 3 sessions. With the last 3, we used it for injuries I get from jiujitsu and also build strength for my sports activities including lifting, jiujitsu, and boxing. Overall, a wonderful experience and I still use the exercises when needed, to this day. Super useful. Highly recommend. 10/10. Doesn't take insurance, but there are benefits to them not taking insurance including an hour long, one on one session. read more

If you are hesitant... GIVE LPI A TRY: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I spent 5+ years putting off my knee pain that comes and goes. It was after a few episodes of knee pains led to the unbearable pain at hips and ankle over the course of years + feeling pain after going into gyms, it was when I had really decided to start taking care of my body. And I AM SO GLAD that LPI was the first help I got. Their ideology of NOT being part of the insurance system might felt expensive/scary at first, but that is how they can give through examinations and exercises. Even though I had to pay out of the pocket, the quality of help I received I believe is totally worth the money. The exercises that Dr. Sarah gave me tremendously managed the pain on the spot, and the more dedicated and consistent I followed the exercise plan at home, the better I feel and stronger & confident I feel in the gym. For those who are struggling on the financial side, they do packages of sessions and it is more worth then single sessions. Because for a period of time I felt reserved/guilty spending a good chunk of money on Physical Therapy, but I had to remind myself the importance of my health and I would feel much more free and capable when the pain is in control. My only recommendation to LPI is to have clearer payment plans (packages cost, sessions remained/used, etc.) because it did get a bit confusing over the course of time. I started working with Dr. Sarah in 2023 for an ankle injury and returned in 2024 for an ongoing shoulder injury. I've been to physical therapists before, but the model at LPI was much more focused on my own lifestyle and the types of activities I wanted to get back to, rather than just quickly fixing my injury. Sarah always takes extra time to hear what pain, discomfort, or frustration I am experiencing. She always addressed larger aspects of my bodily mobility so that I wouldn't re-injure or lose strength. Ben and Bryant we're phenomenal in getting me back to feeling no pain and being able to play golf. I went to 4 different physical therapy clinics that only provided minimal relief where Ben and his team gave me the building blocks to getting my body back to 100%. I was looking for a local PT to help me with a shoulder injury I incurred from barbell bench pressing. I followed the website listed here and the inquiry I submitted was responded to rather quickly! The facility is located within a cross fit type gym. I regularly saw people working out, so I felt like I would be taken care of since my injury was gym related. I was working with Ben and Bryant for around 6mo and with each session I felt better and better. My shoulder injury is pretty much gone! Both of them were incredibly patient with me when I didn't understand certain movements or exercises. I felt like I could ask questions without being judged and I learned a lot about how and why my shoulder was in pain. I was given detailed summaries of exercises and a schedule to perform the exercises I did during each session in an e-mail, so it was easy to refer back to. Dr Sarah Powner is an exceptional PT, with an impressive ability to digest a lot of background information, assess every aspect of pain & range of motion, and clearly educate her clients - even those of us who lack a scientific/medical background. She has amazing time management skills and fits a LOT into an hour. Additionally, the LPI facilities are immaculate - something I also value greatly.
