How do you know if your body is silently breaking down if you never get a proper diagnosis? Through…read moreDr. Benjamin Yu, I was able to see exactly where my weak points were--and more importantly, the 'why' behind them. It was a classic case of: 'I didn't know I needed therapy until I got therapy.' I booked an evaluation not because of an injury, but as preventive maintenance for my physical well-being. It's the same logic I use for my car: you don't wait for the engine to fail before you take it in for service. A standard annual physical checks your internal chemistry, but it doesn't check the health of your skeletal architecture. If you want to live a long life without a wheelchair or chronic pain, this is the missing piece. It's just science. Dr. Benjamin listens with extreme patience. After just watching me walk, he could tell me exactly what I needed to work on. He didn't just explain the root cause of my back pain (the classic millennial struggle); he explained the chain reaction behind it using simple analogies and actionable steps. He treats the cause, not just the effect. Since the exercises are all bodyweight-based, I can do them anywhere--at home or while traveling. Before this, I didn't realize my back was aching simply because it was compensating for my hamstrings. I've moved away from the linear mindset of 'stretch what hurts' to a deeper focus on strengthening the right muscles for longevity and performance. It's about unlearning a lifetime of bad habits and replacing them with proper form. This has completely changed how I approach my training. I've stopped relying on 'primal intuition'--doing whatever it takes to finish a movement--and started using the muscle groups that were born to do that work. Instead of burning out my strongest muscles, I'm finally using the whole system. Be who you were designed to be. I don't know why this isn't a routine checkup for everyone yet, but I am sure it will be once we start to value our bodies as much as our technology.

Listen, I hate needles and if I can avoid it I will, but I've been to Dr. Tu a handful of times…read moredue to lifting injuries or other injuries. To be honest, acupuncture is my last line of defense and I'll do it as my last resort just because I hate needles, but the fact that I keep coming here to fix myself despite the aversion to needles is a testament to how GOOD Jenny is. If you're an athlete, come here. She will understand, as she's an athlete herself, as she was an elite powerlifter and martial artist. She, as a clinician just "gets it." which is so important as a clinician! I want to show the few times she has literally and figuratively saved my ass: My sciatica. I went on a road trip and it flared up so bad that I contemplated going to the ER. I couldn't even touch the skin around my glutes, it was so bad that I had numbness and tingling in the saddle area, injection of toradol didn't work, vicodin didn't even work. I was in bed laying on my left side for days. I couldn't walk. My entire right side and some of my left from the low back to my heel hurt, and when I got there some of the symptoms subsided in it's intensity but it was still there. I'm a physical therapist, but II couldn't even do the easist exercises I would prescribe to my patients because it hurt so bad. I couldn't even tolerate any soft tissue massage. She did her work and her magic and brought my pain down to a manageable level where I could tolerate walking, sitting and going to a massage therapist (shout out to citris body workx) who aboslutely annhilated my piriformis and then I was fixed. She was able to get deep into the piriformis and into my hamstring insertion points (it was NOT painless but she did such an amazing job) If it weren't for Jenny, I wouldn't have been able to get there. More recently, she helped me with my neck and shoulder problems that have been getting worse over the past couple months and it came to a head a month ago. Again, acupuncture really fixed a lot of muscle trigger points that was causing the pain. and after a day or two I felt so much better. I even started lifting again (lightly). I am still going to her for the same issue, but the fact that I was living with probably an 8/10 pain (dull deep aching pain) and went to a 4-5/10 is amazing. For my sciatica I went from a 10/10 (as in, almost into the ER, sometimes crying) to a 4/10 immediately and was able to tolerate massage work from somewhere else. Also, if you like dry needling (like physical therapists outside of CA and CA athletic trainers do) then she does that as well.

Jenny is by far the best acupuncturist in town. I've had acupuncture done before and I believe and…read moreexperienced it's healing techniques. As an athlete the main goal is injury prevention and when you do get injured, you must immediately make it a priority to seek professional help. I came in because of shoulder pain. She assessed my shoulder and treated it with cupping, acupuncture, and stem. She believe it will heal within weeks. I'm very pleased with her work!

After sharing my experience with my friends and neighbors on California Sports & Spine Institute, I…read morerealized I never left them a review. I know, shocking since I clearly like reviewing. So here it goes: Gather round, my friends, it's story time. So without divulging my entire medical history, I will share with my fellow Yelpers that I, Margo "Yelp-go", have EDS (has nothing to do with ED and everything to do with chronic pain) I have been to SO many pain management doctors (around 6) and after a bad experience at Risser Orthopedic (don't worry, I'll get to that review later) I decided to search for the Dr that led me to go to Risser in the first place (*cue the music*) Dr Moradian! I had seen Dr Moradian briefly around 7 yrs prior after a car accident, at Risser. He was kind, professional and after 5 other pain management doctors later, definitely more skilled. (Yes, I will publicly shame these past practices at a later date. Your girl's trying to stay positive here) When I returned to Risser, I asked to see Dr Moradian and was told he was no longer there. Obviously, I created a false narrative that he retired young and was traveling the Bahamas in happiness and that he was no longer an option for me. So fast forward to me having enough of the disappointment with Risser. (I'm talking about them randomly changing appointments on me without letting me know and literally calling me for a phone appointment when my poor grandma was dying in a hospital and then charging me for not being available despite not ever scheduling me for that day. Then mix in Evelyn with the attitude...) I digress, I was just done. I felt like I was starting from ground zero and decided I would just google Dr Moradian. I guess I thought, "hmm, maybe he's retired but has a a twin with the same career and professionalism". I'm so glad I did because *BAM* I found him (in hindsight I should have just started with this, but hey, you live and you learn) When I called to schedule, he wasn't available. An invisible tear fell from my face. The lady on the other line recommended that I try his colleague Dr Vartanian. I admit, I was hesitant but figured he had to be "okay" if he was with Dr Moradian. I was RIGHT (and a little wrong) because Dr Vartanian is amazing! *confetti emoji* He's not only the most gentle Trigger Point Injector (again, I've had this done by now 7 drs.) but he's also compassionate towards his patients and encourages a plan towards maintaining mobility for a rewarding life. He's the first doctor that I would vouch for to say that he's a genuinely good person. Not just a "good doctor" but a "good person".

Another reviewer here that said that not only is Dr. Vartanian a good doctor, but a good person…read more I'd have to agree with that 100%. Finding one who genuinely cares is a rarity these days. He thoroughly explains all the options and I never feel rushed. Integrity because his recommendations are conservative instead of immediately recommending surgery. Office staff are pleasant and friendly. Thank you Dr. V!
