Also, I only ate one thing all day which was from here and let's just say it didn't agree with me. I'm not saying it was this restaurant, but I've been very careful about what I've been eating and the timing aligned. If you want a nice atmosphere and above average food, this is a good place as long as you consider the feedback above.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service…read more We stopped at Huxdotter Coffee in North Bend on Friday and ordered a 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, a 16 oz Mango Smoothie, and a ham and cheese croissant through the drive-through. At the window, we received the croissant and the 16 oz PBJ Smoothie, but were handed a 12 oz Mango Smoothie. We immediately pointed out that the drink was the wrong size. Rather than simply acknowledging the mistake and correcting the order, the employee told us that the order had been entered as a 12 oz drink. We reiterated that we had specifically ordered a 16 oz Mango Smoothie. Instead of saying something as simple as, "I'm sorry, we'll remake that for you," we were told that she would have to refund the original charge and then charge us again for the 16 oz drink. Seriously? Apparently, Huxdotter has developed an innovative new approach to customer service: If we make a mistake, the customer gets to fix it. The mistake wasn't ours. We ordered a 16 oz drink, and the employee or the person taking the order entered it incorrectly. Yet instead of taking responsibility for the error and providing the customer service one would reasonably expect, we were essentially given a bureaucratic explanation of why correcting their mistake was going to require additional transactions. We were on our way to an appointment and didn't have time to wait around sorting out an issue that should have taken less than a minute to resolve. We simply said, "Never mind," and left. What is especially disappointing is that this wasn't about the cost of a smoothie. It was about how the situation was handled. Mistakes happen. Good businesses acknowledge them, apologize, and make them right. Telling the customer that they have to go through a refund and repurchase process because the business entered the order incorrectly is simply poor customer service. Unfortunately, this experience left such a bad impression that we won't be going back. There are plenty of coffee shops willing to treat their customers better.

Upon visiting this establishment, I was appalled by its cleanliness--or lack thereof. After ordering my sandwich, I hesitated to take a bite, fearing the consequences. Surprisingly I didn't fall ill. The pictures I shared don't fully capture the filthiness of the place. Empty sauce dispensers and discarded containers cluttered the counter, likely due to frustrated customers. I understand mistakes happen, but what makes this experience truly unacceptable is the complete lack of effort to resolve the situation. Why should customers have to waste more time and gas money just to get refunded for food they NEVER received? Terrible order accuracy, frustrating customer service, and absolutely no accountability. If you order from this location, CHECK EVERY SINGLE ITEM before leaving. Apparently, fixing their mistakes becomes YOUR responsibility.

I get takeout about once a month from here as part of our weekly rotation of "I don't feel like cooking tonight." Typically we get a hamburger and a cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. We split the very large portion of fries and the onion rings as well. Last night the guest in front of me ordered the jalapeño burger and I thought "Jalapeño? I didn't know they had that!" It's listed on the menu, but when you go to a place for a long time (for us, since the early 1990s), you kinda stop looking at the menu. So I tried the jalapeño burger, and I very pleased that they didn't just throw raw slices on the burger but instead grilled them a bit. It packed some heat, but without that raw grassy taste that you get from an uncooked pepper. The fries are usually quite quite good, and the onions rings can be a bit too well-done, so we ask for them "not too crispy!" and they're much easier to eat. You can get sauces such as ranch dressing for the onion rings at an extra cost. Other condiments like mustard, mayo, and ketchup are either on the burger itself or come as a free add-on. They have bison chili, and I've always wanted to try it, so I'll get that next time. The place is like one of the old-time burger shacks that you found on the side of the US highway system back in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, which makes sense, because the main drag through North Bend used to be US 10 (which is replaced by I-90 3 miles to the south). It has a bare bones inside seating area, a front patio that is great in the summer but yikes it's cold in the winter, and their public bathrooms are available only from the outside. Prices tend to be midrange to a bit higher than a chain fast food place, but the food is better IMO and you're supporting a local business.

BLT (4): good thick cut bacon on toasted bread. Decent as well. You can add the works (all fixins) on anything. I'm glad I tried these other items but I'll probably stick with their burgermasters in the future. One detail I'll note during our last visit is their dine-in line management needs work. There were 2 lines forming without any coordination. One inside and one out the door. They need to have more clearly marked lines or some sort of management in place or you may potentially wait unnecessarily long. I still love the dining options though. Inside, in your car, or takeout/drive-thru. They even have warmed lockers to keep your food warm in secured lockers until you pick up. Nice new facilities! A gentleman sitting at the table next to us outside got very angry that they did not take his name down correctly and kept calling for someone else, so his meal was just sitting there getting cold until he went to check. I had my husband wait inside after that and it was a bit chaotic. They weren't incredibly busy or anything but they just all seemed to be learning at the same time. The staff did try joking with us to lighten the mood but it was a bit awkward. We ordered a double baconmaster with onion rings, a mushroom burger with fries and a Tom and Jerry shake. It was $45 before tip for 2 people which is kinda crazy for fast food but we had high hopes. The burgers were standard and totally average as were the onion rings. I would give them all 3/5 but I thought the fries were above average. They were cooked and seasoned well. The shake was delicious. 5/5 all day, but it was so small. We asked for large but were told there was only one size available. They are missing out by not offering larger sizes and it makes zero sense. If I had known they what I know now, I would have ordered two shakes and some fries. I might come back when they are more established, even though my experience was left plenty to be desires because I think there is definitely potential here.
