I ordered the Reuben, and the bread-to-meat ratio was way off (photo attached). It was mostly bread with very little filling, especially for a ~$14 sandwich. The sides were okay, but the portions overall felt pretty minimal given the pricing. I always want to support local restaurants, especially ones prioritizing local ingredients, so this was a letdown. Based on this visit, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

I also had a Manhattan Special Black Cherry soda, also super yummy. My mistake, not realizing what I was doing, was to order "whole" vs "half" sandwiches. The whole are footlong. I ate the entire sandwich, holy moly! My wife brought half home. Next time I would probably order a half. The owner, who I will call Guiseppe, had the heavy East Coast accent, and checked on all of his customers, making sure they were happy and satisfied. This place is a little gem. I did order it with extra onions and didn't really get any extra. I also don't remember my zucchini fries being so minimal to an order. The side I got today had about 6 rounds in it. As an additional cost, I honestly thought it would be more than 6 small rounds. It's been a year since we have eaten here. The food was good as usual. The description also applies to the to tight and awkwardly built parking lot. And for Pete's sake, city planning review people, there is a Chik-Fil-A now under construction in this same place that will be using the same access way and parking lot. (And eventually fast casual pizza franchise, Slice House.) You must be kidding. No wonder this was such a controversial project as it was wending it's way through approval processes. But that's not Panera's fault so let's get to what seemed constipated, or at least not smooth moving, at the store. I detoured here on the way home from a morning haircut to pick up a cup of hot chocolate, I had been getting Panera emails in the way of "insider special" and also a pastry, both to go, as I had also received snail mailed discount coupons to my house. I live in this city and they have been trying to make locals aware of the new store. Although the inside was not crowded, after waiting a good while to try to place an order, I left because I had an appointment at home that I didn't want to be late for. The reason I couldn't place an order was that it was unclear to me if I was supposed to use one of 3 kiosks at the front or if I could order at the counter (my preference) and there was no way to ask the single person working the counter "how do I?" Also the sign at front said if you are having a beverage to get your cup first. OK then, where? Also, the item in the case I thought I wanted to order had no label on it so I wasn't sure, if I used the kiosk, what it was I was ordering, and no one to ask about that either. So I decided to do this the old fashioned way and wait to order the counter. But I could not do that because there was only one person working at the counter and she was behind the register trying her best to help the customer who also wanted to order and who was asking questions. This poor (obviously new) employee was out of her depth for what to do. Not her fault, where was the manager to help her? But just as the employee had a "eureka" moment on how to get the order placed, the customer presented her discount coupon that she received via snail mail and the employee once again was thrown for a loop, said that coupon was for orders placed via XYZ method and now she would have to try to find someone who could help her figure out how to apply the discount. That is when I turned around and exited. They need to work on this. The service snafus are all fixable by management. And the space itself is not welcoming, warts and all, most Panera's are that, and it seems to me it would be from difficult to impossible for a person using a wheelchair to find clear path of travel to a table to sit at. Panera, you can do and have done better for mere ADA compliance. This is the closest location to my home but I won't go back. Meridian or Boise are better options.

The filling was fluffy and soft. It was a great suggestion from the manager! I might have them heat it up just a hair longer next time, it could have been warmer. The huckleberry lemonade was killer!! It was tart, sweet and bubbly. I was only allowed one sip and I made sure it was big! My first round of chai did not look like normal and it didn't taste good. It was so dark and bitter. I did ask the barista if there was chai in my drink cause it didn't taste like chai. After we got it figured out, a new drink was made. My first one was not what I had ordered, I don't know what it was. My second round was almost perfect. The honey cinnamon chai was so good! It was sweet and spicy. I love the added cinnamon in there. It tastes like it should be cold and holiday season outside. I did pay for a shot of espresso to make it dirty which I never got. It was almost a cup of perfection. I really enjoyed our little coffee date here today. The food was good. Our drinks were tasty. The staff was nice. And it's conveniently down the road from us. The reason we went back the second time was because we remembered how good the food was and how nearby it was too. The second time the food was still really good, but the service was HORRENDOUS. Brittney was such a ***** to me and my parents, my mom especially. My mom was complimenting her and something about the food, and she straight up just walked away in the middle of my mom still talking. And no it wasn't busy. It was towards the end of the night, there was maybe 2-3 other customers there. She acted like we were bothering her the whole time. Then once she'd leave us would just stand up at the bar flirting with the other guy working there and just ignore anyone else. Then on top of all of that, my dad tells me she added $10 onto her tip! FRAUD!!! I've attached photos as evidence. My dad still tipped her even though she was so rude and disrespectful. But apparently that wasn't enough for her and added $10 onto the total. I cannot believe that. And my dad tells me it was difficult to get his $10 back after calling and talking to the manager. He didn't get the name of the manager but he said that they were just making excuses and saying oh but she's our best server. Obviously not! Saying things like oh she must've just been really busy. Again, we were there when it was dead and about to close soon, no it was not busy. It's almost as if this business does this type of thing often because there was no alarm from the manager, then finally after much deliberation decided to send back the $10. Absolutely ridiculous. No : "I'm so sorry here's a free meal on us", or atleast a "here's a coupon or gift card for next time you come in", nothing. This is the type of thing that gets people closed down. We should report to the BBB. This is insane. And to not be offered anything to make it right is what really gets me. Like do they not want us to ever come back??? Not to mention tell everyone we know, etc. Yikes! And this is what we get for wanting to support local businesses instead of going to the big chains. What a bummer.
