Recently I came here for dinner and was bummed that they took the sushi off their dinner menu! But either way there was other options to choose from. I order the scallops and asked for a side of potatoes and veggies. It was a little pricey but very yummy. They have many options on the menu. From soup, salad, pasta, burgers, and more. We want to like this restaurant because it's within walking distance from our house...but we just can't and it's sad. It sits on such a beautiful property with beautiful views but the food is mediocre (all 'stuffed' items feel and taste prepackaged and strange (peanut butter jalapenos?), the service is kinda ok, but the hours are horrible! The restaurant closes at 7, at a time when most people go out to eat. 9 pm or 10 pm is a restaurant norm. Not sure who they are catering to, golfers, definitely not hotel guests, and not the local community... Change up the menu (hell, drive the 101 and pick 15 great items), and at least keep your place open till 9 pm. After 6 months this place would be full. read more

Was there Sunday 3/2/25 for a birthday celebration. When I arrived I told the hostess we needed to add a place for one more guest (I made reservations for 8; party was now 9). I was told that it was no problem, we could all fit at the table where the earlier arrivals were already seated. There was no way 2 more people could fit at that table (the ones already there were crowded as it was). We were all moved to another, more adequate, table. We were seated for more than an hour without food being served. When it arrived, it was obvious that many of the plates had been sitting for a long time under heat lamps. My patty melt was completely inedible (bread soggy on the bottom, hard as a rock on top. Meat was ridiculously overcooked). I literally had only one bite and gave up. Very spotty service: server was tending to a group of 9 with no team to back her up. She didn't know how to use the wine opener and asked someone in our group to open the bottle we ordered. VERY disappointed in the food and the service. The one star is for the ambience: the golf course and pond/waterfall were lovely. read more

I forget how good the food is here @ Aquaterra. It took a little bit to get seated, but we were here early and they are short staffed. (Like everywhere else right now) Food was absolutely amazing and 10/10 on presentation. Mimosa flight was delicious! All the staff has been so nice and welcoming. We live local and are members at the golf course. The food is just not good and the service is really bad. We recently went on a Friday to listen to the band and have some drinks and food. We ordered the pretzel which was good but is very small. My wife and we're going to share the fish and chips but it was not even edible. It took 10 minutes at least to get our waitress to come back who btw was also the bartender. We let her know the food was not good and she took it back. We asked to speak with the Manager but he never came by. We paid the bill and left. We have been there 4 times and the same result each time poor service and food is not that good. We won't be back it is a shame because after a rough of golf it's a great spot to enjoy a drink and meal. If they would hire a decent cook and manager this place would be a happening spot. read more

August 13th I Met a friend who was visiting from out of town for lunch, which turned into a disaster for the restaurant! After being seated, we ordered, I had the Drive In Burger and she ordered the Veggie Burger! When it was delivered, her "burger" was COLD ... not cooked! We flagged down our waitress Maria, and she took the burger back to the kitchen. Twenty (20) minutes later still not having the burger back, we flagged down Maria again and she checked on it and the staff in the kitchen hadn't even begun to remake or heat it up! My friend cancelled the order and asked to speak to the manager. His attempt to apologize came with "I'll comp your ice tea" and there will not be a charge for your meal that you didn't get. WTF. And the meal I got was the equivalent of a McDonalds 99 cent burger ... two patties thinner than thin and for the whopping cost of $17. So bottom line, we aren't going back there ever ever again and highly discourage others as well. I come here once a week for lunch as it is across the street from home. I have not had dinner here so can't comment on that food or service. I have never had a bad lunch here and have been around 16 times now. Sometimes I bring my dog and sit outside if it is nice, there is a lot of seating with nice views of the course and mountains. There is also plenty of parking but the close spots get taken fast during lunch. My favorite things to get are the pala Mesa burger, balsamic chicken sandwich, and fish & chips. The fries here are really good, crispy, and seasoned. The hummus appetizer is also good and fresh made in house. Sometimes service is slow but it's a golf course not a chain restaurant. If you don't have time to sit and enjoy go in town to a faster place. If you want good good made fresh and in house then this is the best option near the freeway. read more

This restaurant has gone down hill in the last couple of years under a new manager. It used to be a great place to have a meal and some drinks after a round of golf. Food is now subpar and overpriced to match the resort rooms themselves. They also have a tendency to close the restaurant early. Last Friday was the third time this has happened to our group of golfers. We had two groups of four wanting to grab a bite and some drinks and when we came to the restaurant at 6:30, they told us they were closed. Even though the hours clearly state 7 PM. I understand they are now closing at 7 for reduced Covid hours, but don't truly understand when they have a large outdoor area and plenty of golfers who would stay for dinner after a daylight savings round. It seems the new manager is just too lazy to want the business. If you're looking for a good round of golf with a restaurant that still cares about the golfers and their desires to have a good meal after the round is over, Pala Mesa is not the place anymore. The Golf Club of California which is about three miles away still cares about customers as they stayed open well past 7 for us in our Saturday night leg of the golf weekend trip. read more

We are now official dining members! We headed out with our fur babe to this pet friendly restaurant located at Pala Mesa Resort for a brunch/lunch after winning a silent auction! We enjoy day trips to the community of Fallbrook in North San Diego. Any drive that feels like the country on a sunny and sunday afternoon cannot be beat! I enjoyed an asian inspired calamari salad for my entree and the husband and I shared the strawberry manna cotta for dessert! Both were very good! The staff was attentive, brought our dog his own bowl of water! The resort was spread out with guests enjoying various activities, golf, tennis, the pool and a winery located on-site. The hubby got us to stay at this resort for Valentine's Day and we came here for dinner. The menu was different than their usual because it was Valentien's day, but it was still great. The menu was pricey but it's expected on Valentine's Day! We were seated in a small room with a nice view and they had a live band playing. To start, I had the garden salad and you can tell my dressing was homemade, and it was good! For my entree, I had the stuffed chicken, which was delicious! My husband had the hog topped with raspberry sauce, also delicious! To end our meal, we shared chocolate fondue, which was made for 2 but personally, I thought it was a little too small for two people. They had sushi and whatnot made to order as well since there's a sushi bar right there. I do want to come back to try their seafood and their regular menu. This place is great ! Is the service perfect ? No. But the food is always good and they have a great wine selection and full bar. Maybe adding a few more craft beers would be good. Dining outside on their patio with a nice view and a glass of wine makes up for what they lack. They added a Beyond Burger to the menu which makes me happy to have a vegan option. This is the best place to dine for miles in an otherwise barren area. The staff always is friendly , be patient cause sometimes the food comes out slow. We recently moved to Fallbrook from Carlsbad and wanted to got out for a nice dinner, Aqua Terra delivered. From the food to the view to the staff everything was great. It's an older place but that's part of its charm. The wine list is small but has some choice selections.....just missing a good port. I had a martini and it was well crafted too. Started with the crispy tempura asparagus topped with strips of parmesan and a squeeze of lemon....hello new favorite! It was perfectly prepared and served with a yummy dipping sauce. Berry spinach salad with strawberries, cranberries, pistachios, and goat cheese topped with a delightful citrus honey vinaigrette (comes with blue cheese crumbles we substituted) was devoured. Main course, white wine braised scallops and pan seared pistachio encrusted halibut. Scallops are easy to mess up, these were fresh and seared just right. The lemon beurre blanc on the halibut was just the right finishing touch for this delish dish. read more

Really recommend if you're in the bonsall or fallbrook area. Very small restaurant both times I've been here the food has been delicious. The second time they did make a mistake while using my passport card so I'd just explain it to them if you use one. Very surprised it has 3 stars. The fish tasted fresh and was flaky and moist with a crisp coating, the coleslaw was not the typical mayo heavy slaw, my daughter is a chef and she thinks that a not so sweet honey was used and added to the terrific taste. The chips were crispy and also soft inside which I really enjoyed! The only thing I would change is to make the offerings more flexibility because the base of all the meals were something I would try and eat there during my whole stay @ the hotel but unfortunately they are too ridged at this point, for me. We went to this restaurant because the pictures of their patio were appealing. Upon arrival the manager or one of the waiters said we can't be seated for 15 minutes due to their lack of staff. She said we could sit down and wait but could not order drinks. After 15 minutes we were seated outside on the patio. For drinks I had their berry cocktail, mojito and the margarita flight. For food we ordered the pretzel, pulled pork sliders, Margherita flatbread, chicken & waffles. We were looking to order the charcuterie board but they were out. The berry cocktail and mojito I had were great. The margarita flight was amazing, it is a must and the highlight of our visit. The chicken & waffles is a huge portion and fills you up without an appetizer. Furthermore, the sweet & salty combination is interesting. The Margherita flatbread and pretzel were pretty average. The pulled pork sliders were good. If I was going to go back, I would just get the chicken and waffles or sliders since the portions are large. Was back at the Pala Mesa Resort for an overnight business trip and we stopped by this restaurant for dinner. I'm glad we did! It was the 1st time I've eaten here for dinner....the first item that caught my eye was the Jalapenos Stuffed with Peanut Butter & fried Tempura style...with a Raspberry dipping sauce....WOW...I had to try it! Not feeling too hungry, I also ordered a Soup & Salad. I had the French Onion Soup and a Wedge Salad w/Gorgonzola Dressing & Balsamic Vinegar Reduction. They brought out the Jalapenos first....I couldn't wait to taste the first one.....it was fried just right. The Peanut Butter melted in my mouth and went perfectly with the flavor of the Jalapeno. The heat level was Mild. The Raspberry Dipping Sauce gave the perfect balance of Sweet to go with the Bitter Jalapeno and Sticky Peanut Butter....what a great combination of flavors! Too bad there were only 4 pieces, I could have eaten 20 of these! The Soup & Salad came out next. I went for the French Onion Soup first.....it was also done very well. The layer of Onion and Bread was just right and the Salt level was perfect. Many restaurants have French Onion Soup that's too Salty for my tastes....but not here, it was a good proportion of ingredients. The Cheese was gooey and full of flavor too. The Broth was so good I dipped a couple pieces of Bread in it after I ate all the other stuff....nom! The Wedge Salad was last....the Lettuce was nice and crisp and there was just the right amount of Gorgonzola dressing....it was creamy and rich and full of flavor. The Gorgonzola was sharp and distinct and went well with the Balsamic Reduction that was drizzled on the side. A very good Salad! To wash it all down, I had 2 glasses of Sangiovese. Overall, it was a great dinner....and a lite one too! Will I return? You bet...I couldn't get enough of those Jalapenos! read more

Short ribs were over a polenta cake with roasted Brussels sprouts, Cioppino in a tomato broth base included a lobster tail, mussels, clams and fish. It took about 10-15 minutes for someone to place our order. Once our food arrived, I noticed the sandwich was more bread than anything. My bread was stale and they're wasn't enough pork belly to be considered a pork belly sandwich. There was also a hair in my potato. My fiancée got the eggs Benedict and the egg was cooked all the way . They made her a new plate but the bread also tasted stale there. Their potatoes also lacked some flavor. Happy Hour: this was a lot better experience. We had 1 glass of wine, 1 sushi roll, and 1 Moscow mule. The prices were very reasonable, sushi was very filling, Moscow mule good, but wine was warm. Red wine should always be served slightly chilled. Service was great so this made it a lot better of an experience. Overall I'll leave 2 stars instead of 2.5 since there was a lot that went wrong for breakfast. read more

We shared the peanut butter stuffed tempura jalapeños with raspberry dipping sauce. Like a pb and J sandwich on steroids. So good. I had the scallops with risotto , mangoes and asparagus. Very rich and creamy. Scallops were tender like a great steak. Hubs had the flank steak, with cabneret onions and fries. Also very tender and delicious. Cali creamin' beer on tap. He liked that. Had high hopes for this locale when I met my girlfriend for lunch. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the hostess and manager. I was asked if I wanted to wait for my friend before I was seated. When my friend arrived, we were automatically seated inside. We asked the hostess if we could sit outside to enjoy the evening. She responded as of it was an inconvenience and she and her manager promptly advised us that we could. But we could not move the heaters or the umbrellas. We rested our selves outside. And without the inking twice, we opened (didn't move) our umbrella and we're quickly chastised by both the hostess and manager. Not once, but twice, whilst a pair of golf members sat near by with there umbrella completely open. It was the most unprofessional display for a restaurant manager I'd ever seen. My friend and I made the most of it and carried on with our dinner. But we will likely not be back. Boo for them. read more

My husband and I ate here thanks to a www.restaurant.com certificate around November 2008. We STILL talk about the dinner we had there, and are always planning to go back. I think there were raspberries covered in the honey as well... mmm) *King Crab Legs - Market Price One Pound of Alaskan Crab-choice of Two Sides-Drawn Butter *Chocolate Mousse I don't remember the price, but this was delicious and a generous portion topped with chocolate bits. Overview: My husband loved all that he ordered as well. Neither of us could get enough of how well we were treated - especially since this was my first time using a restaurant dot com coupon, and I presented it to them when we were seated. I half expected them to serve us less food or treat us like 2nd class, but we were given exceptional service! I have to say they also made us feel like celebrities. Very jovial, willing and happy to serve us. The workers looked like they all got along well and enjoyed what they do. The bartender was happy to help me select something to drink... and I recall they had some fun drinks available. All in all, I could go on. We really enjoy this place. The food is very good, the view is great, service is excellent and prices are reasonable.

They have extraordinary sushi and servers here. My waiter was very kind and checked in with my group often, he made us feel very comfortable and happy. I sometimes come in after a round of golf, and eat at the bar, the bartender is also very nice and respected me when I turned down a drink because I don't drink since I'm a practicing Buddhist. Get there Aquaterra Philly Roll or if you like spice get the Johnny Roll with jalapeño and Unagi. It's such a nice elegant atmosphere and very calming. They sometimes have live music and the last time they had a wonderful group come in and play. If you haven't been here before, their bar has NFL team themed drinks. All in all, it's a wonderful restaurant to take friends or family out for a celebration or just a nice dinner. read more
