I've been using Aqua Masters for about three years and just today I was marveling at the quality of my pool so I figured I would leave a review. Richard and his team have been a pleasure to work with over the years and I can't remember a single instance where they weren't willing to go above and beyond to solve any problem. They are incredibly responsive - they usually respond within a few minutes - and I've yet to have any issue that they couldn't fix within 24-48 hours. Additionally, the weekly service is very thorough. I work from home so I can see the attention to detail first hand and I know how hard it is to clean these pools after storms and windy days. They show up on time, every time, and the pool is spotless when they leave. Even today, the day before our weekly service, it is incredibly clean. The periodic maintenance has also kept all my equipment in great shape. Really good service and, while not the cheapest in town, I definitely feel like you get good value. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but I'll make an exception for this one. I should've read the reviews before engaging with Aqua Masters as my experience is similar to other 1-star reviews. And don't believe the seemingly "professional" response to the poor reviews - it's all an act. As stated by the other reviews, the owner is defensive and shady, and will charge whatever he feels like on your credit card. I would recommend you remove your credit card information from his Jobber (invoice) website -- they save your credit card by default and seem to allow the owner to charge whatever he wants ongoing (someone else mentioned this in their review). I had a leak in my pool plumbing, so decided to engage a company to fix the leak and also clean the pool filters and salt cell. The owner came and indicated the problem was one of my plumbing joints that needed to be replaced. The quote was very high, but I wanted it done quickly and without fuss. I falsely assumed that you get what you pay for. The first red flag was that I received an email that they could come on a Friday, which came and went. Someone showed up on the following Wednesday without notice, but luckily I was home. The guy was pleasant, cleaned the filters and salt cell as well as replacing the plumbing joint. Done in a couple hours and left. However, I noticed the following week there was still a leak in exactly the same place as before. Emailed the company and the owner had the guy come out to take a look (I was not home this time). That person texted me that the leak was not coming from the plumbing joint, but at the pump/conduit. Here's where it gets interesting. The owner subsequently emailed me saying that the leak was not related to the repair they did. He suspected that it was related to the small earthquake (LOL!). It will cost another $500+ to repair without any guarantee that the leak will be fixed. This is when I decided to look at the original invoice to see what he charged for repairing the original plumbing joint. And it gets better. He charged my credit card about 20% more that the original quote. When I inquired about this point, he responded saying that a quote is an estimate and the final cost will be dependent on the actual time required to do the work. This is true for any work done -- but the difference is that all reputable companies will ask for authorization to complete the work at the higher rate before charging your credit card. In fact, they usually provide an updated estimate before beginning any work. I informed him of this, and his response was that an estimate is an estimate and that the final cost is at his discretion. The cherry on the cake with this interaction was his thinly vailed threat that if I disputed the charge I would be liable for an even higher amount because I had received an unknown "discount" (not documented anywhere LOL). The funny thing is that I would've accepted the higher amount if he had only ASKED. This is just shady, and probably illegal, business practice. I'm surprised the Jobber site allows this -- what's stopping someone approving a $500 estimate, but getting charged $5,000? Here's what I think happened. The owner is inexperienced and gave the wrong diagnosis, but did not want to admit that. All I wanted was to get a credit for the wrong diagnosis, repair the actual problem (it would even be ok if the repair actually did cost more), and move on. Oh, also don't charge my credit card without authorization. Spent way too much time writing this review, but I hope it helps the community. read more

I had an incredibly good experience with Aqua Masters and despite a hiccup or two along the way, recommend without reservation, for quality of work, ease of communication, and most especially an unequalled level of integrity. My (new) pool guy called to tell me water was leaking from the roof from my solar pool heating system. Thus began a madcap (and expensive) adventure. My pool equipment area was under a tree and the equipment had been there since I moved in in 1997. Unfortunately, the water needed to be turned off completely because my guy told me a screw holding the diverting equipment had lost it's head and required an extractor. I called a handyman who pooped out while I decided to replace the equipment because it was pretty gunked up from a lot of years of tree over the works. Meanwhile, I started taking bids/meetings on replacing the heater (I will never work with someone who sends a quote on major equipment without coming to see the system). Richard came over (not the first of some pretty good people) and I told him the saga and he pulled out a screwdriver and removed the allegedly headless screw. Didn't charge. Got the water pumping. Got the job. The prices were compatible, but I felt both communicated to and cared for, so it was a no-brainer since everyone got the whole megillah. Rick (I have some kind of trouble with names, but it's Rick, despite how many times I may have called him Dave; sorry Rick/Dave) had proposed a new heater and filter and when his workers came they said they couldn't put in a new filter because there was no place for it. I called Rick pretty steamed but was ultimately told it would work out (and I called a few others for confirmation because despite the screw removal, I was vary wary of screw insertion). I was able to cycle water in the pool which saved me the potential for having to empty and refill from stagnant water. The worker Bill (or maybe Steve, no Bill), was really good and assuaged my concerns and at the end of a very long day, walked me through operation (which I filmed). The next day I discovered no hot water, and just before calling my plumber, remembered the gas had been turned off and the heater could not be lit. I called Rick who came right out and after some effort (because of the water heater), turned on my heater and I got a hot shower a little later and life was good. Meanwhile, when we went to look at the heater and turned on the spa switch, it worked only intermittently, so Bill was sent out to repair. On Bill's repair, he discovered the blower wasn't working, so I was prepared to write a check for a new blower as well as the labor cost. I wasn't happy but I was in no position to do anything about it. Just as I came out with my checkbook, Bill said that a wire was loose in the blower and had been reattached and all was well. My point is this (for the nobody who's still reading at this length): Integrity goes a long way when you're dealing with something you know nothing about. There is a conscientiousness here that is rare and immensely satisfying. Yeah, there was a screwup in the beginning in terms of the filter, but it was rectified fairly with regard to labor charges. Before having the job, work was done that I was looking for another professional to resolve, a charge could have been made for a loose wire but it was fixed at no charge. I can't tell you how highly I recommend this service. read more

I called Rich for a pool filter repair in early September 2023. he came to give a quote and made repair the next day. they have cleaned our filter after the repair as well. we were very happy with their service and agreed to have them service our pool. it has been 1 month of excellent service. The owner of this company is shockingly unprofessional. They broke the pool's chlorinator, which caused a large, continuous leak. The owner acknowledged the issue, and stated that it would be addressed, then went quiet for a few days. I emailed to ask for an ETA for the repair, explaining that I'd been contacted by the utility company about the suspected leak. His reply: "I dont think the water loss is that significant. For the time being, just shut off the pump and that should stop the leak. If GWP stops contacting you, than I guess I was wrong!! Thank you for your patience." First of all, according to GWP, the leak is (so far) at almost 1,000 gallons. Secondly, the tech comes by weekly, skims the pool and sticks a chlorine tab in the chlorinator. If the pump is off and there's no chlorine going into the pool for an unknown amount of time--he still didn't provide an ETA for the repair--what service have I paid for exactly? I emailed him that question. His reply was a voicemail to call him back "IMMEDIATELY!" I called back, which was a huge lapse in judgement, as he has the interpersonal skills and business acumen of a hungry 4 year old. If his goal was to lose our business in as messy a way as possible, than he succeeded. We hired these guys fewer than 2 months ago, and the experience went down in a blaze of glory pretty quickly. Save yourself a headache and look elsewhere. Based on our experience the bulk of this company's positive reviews are fake. (UPDATE) After I posted this negative review, Richard, the owner, proceeded to send me harassing texts for over an hour until I blocked him. He also added 3 obviously phony Yelp reviews in an attempt to "balance" my negative one. I have, honest to god, never experienced anything like it. Aqua Masters refunded the March billing fee -paid in advance- after they were fired in February for months of poor and nonexistent service. Then management expects accolades from me on Yelp for refunding money for work they never did. First American Home Warranty (which is terrible, btw; save your money and don't buy it) sent over Provolt Services, who was terrible and charged me $75 and did NOTHING but convince First AM not to honor the warranty. I found Aqua Masters here on Yelp. Richard was great. He was responsive, he scheduled me quickly and his very capable tech showed up and within 30 mins diagnosed that my blower had malfunctioned (totally covered by my warranty who is still refusing to pay for it). As I've always said, yelp never fails me. I was in need of a heater to be installed ASAP for my kids swim lessons starting. The response time of this business was amazing. I requested a quote at about 4pm on a Monday. I got the quote emailed to me about an hour later and a scheduled installation at 9am the following morning!! Started out promising, but ended up firing them as they were not consistent and the pool was never right. They charge for a lot of extras on top of the monthly fees which are at or above market rates. There is always a reason when something comes up that it isn't their fault. Aqua Masters saved Mother's Day! I was in a jam when I tried to open the pool and the dreaded service blinker came on. I was in a real bind when I heard Aqua Masters was booked, but when they heard why it was really important to get it looked at, they moved things around and came through. My Jandy heater came with the house and appears to date to the parachute pants era, but they got it going again, and we had a great day. The service fee was fair, and the technician gave a thorough breakdown of what went wrong, what he did to address, and what we could reasonably expect might happen next with the appliance. read more

Richard and Aquamasters have serviced my parents pool for a few years. This morning at 6:13am he sends an email saying they wants to clean the filters. I said ok let me ask my dad (I don't live there) and get back to you and is there a cost. He said $175 and needs to be done today because that's what they need to do. Granted it's pouring outside. I said I'll ask my dad and if not another day and if you can't I'll get someone else this time around not to mess up your schedule. He sent me an email saying he understood and let's cancel out the services moving forward. What kind of a unprofessional not understanding company is this. He clearly knows I don't live there and I need to ask the homeowner owner and payer and no notice is given. Your can't just go in and charge without proper notice and they keep increasing dues. Our heater was not working along with other pool issues. My pool service team was no help. I've reached out to a few places on Yelp. Richard was the first to respond. He was very thorough, based on the pictures i've sent him he was able to estimate what parts i might need and had the tech buy all of them and bring them to my house, so they could fix everything as quickly as possible. I mean... who does that? if there are other companies that do this, i've never dealt with them. I have to say i was little concerned about their pricing system, i found it a little confusing, but when the Dimitros ( i hope i spell his name correctly) came... i couldn't be happier. Not only he figured out and then fixed the problem within previously estimated 1 hour, but was also able to look into other issues. I mean, he's truly an awesome human being. He really knows he's craft and would never do anything just to take your money. I mean, i've used him only once, but that's the impression i got. Richard and his team are truly amazing and worth every penny. Don't try to save some money with other guys, because in the end... you'll end up paying more. Highly recommend them!!! read more

Avoid this company. We hired Aqua Masters to fix a leak and paint our small in-ground spa. They assumed the leak was in our drain and filled it with cement and when that didn't work shrugged and suggested a product called Fix-a-Leak. Which we used to fix the leak. So we have a $200 cement plug in our drain that doesn't do anything and we had to fix the leak ourselves. Next they painted the pool. The first coat was a little sloppy so they sent some guys over to touch it up. They seemed to have no idea why they were there and we ended up letting them use our shop vac and broom to clean up before finishing the job. We were told the paint needed a few days to cure and then they'd come back to fill the pool and balance the chemicals but it was radio silence from Aqua Masters so we filled it ourselves. In less than a week the paint started peeling toward the bottom of the pool. A blister formed and the paint just came off. We contacted Aqua Masters about it and they offered to touch up the one small spot but that they don't guarantee paint work and we would have to pay more to have them re-paint. We emptied the pool and the paint came off in sheets and so far almost a third of the paint has peeled off. They tried to tell us it was because we hadn't balanced the chemicals correctly (which could have been avoided if they had followed through with the job and re-filled the pool) but after doing some research about epoxy pool paint and showing it to some contractors we believe the problem stems from improper surface prep or paint application. Contacting the company since has been difficult and they have stopped responding to us. In short, they are unprofessional, uncommunicative and not a very good choice for pool painting or repair. read more

I just had Aqua Masters come clean off 16 years worth calcium deposits on my pool tile. I asked for estimate from a bunch of service providers in the area. They were the first to get back to me and offered the best price. They were able to schedule the cleaning around my schedule. They let me know the day before what time they would be at my house. They showed up five minutes early, were very professional and finished the job a lot faster than I thought it would take. Absolutely love the service I received from Ryan and Richard on the issue with my filter. Every time my old service provider cleaned my pool, it still looked dank and dirty. I brought this up to my old company several times but they would just blame the gardener, weather blah blah but it didn't add up. I call Richard to inquire about checking it out and he immediately said "no problem ma'am, I'll be there in an hour". Much to my surprise he actually showed up and on time as promised (past pool companies I have dealt with have been very flaky). I have since signed up for normal maintenance since then and have continued to be surprised and impressed with how well they work and how organized they are. Rich installed a heater for me last week. There was a manufacturer defect on the hardware which caused an issue. Rich contacted the manufacturer and was out the next day replacing the part and making sure everything was ok. He also checked our chemical levels to make sure everything was ok and cleaned our pool filter to make sure there weren't issues there.
