We hired Martin and his team to help us recover our pool after we had a family of Mallard ducks living in it for a few months. It was beyond disgusting and I didn't think it was possible to salvage without a full drain and acid wash as a few other companies had suggested (and for a much higher price). I truly appreciated that they did not automatically suggest that route. Instead, Martin and his son showed up several times over the course of about two weeks to clean the filters and add the appropriate chemicals until our pool was back to normal. I had this pool service since November when I bought my house. All throughout the fall, winter and even through spring the pool looked great, one of martins guys would come on time everyday to clean the pool. I was happy with the service so far. Cut to the month of July, my pool started turning cloudy and green. I asked martin if they could take care of the algae bloom and he came out himself the next day and all he did was brush and skim the leaves out. Week by week my pool was still cloudy and green. I will give it to them, they would always come on time on the day it was supposed to be cleaned but I couldn't use my pool for an entire month, they hadn't cleaned my filter in a while which resulted in 3 broken grids, now I had to pay another pool service to come and take care of it and it's cleared up two days later. Now I'm out 350 for the clean up and the new grids but I still paid martin for the month of "service" to my pool and the chlorine tabs his guy brought over. Cost, reliability, chemical aspects, how high your electric bill is (some guys leave your pump working for extra hours), whether they do machinery maintenance and replace broken equipment themselves or have to sub it out... all of those things are important but, let's face it, the number one thing is whether your pool looks clean... everything else kind of leads you to that one, big issue. I've had FOUR pool guys in the last three years and not ONE of them could manage to keep the pool as clean as Martin got it after two visits. I mean, I didn't hand him over a swamp but where he took it just left me scratching my head and wondering why it took me a year to get rid of the last service. (You start to hear all of the excuses from some services, "oh, the winds are killing me", "ya know, your pool water is probably too old", "your motor isn't good enough, the ashes from all of the fires, the sun was in my eyes"... they all run together but the bottom line is that your pool is never clean! (OK, some of the excuses might be legit.) Martin was the second guy I spoke to that day about taking over my pool. The first guy came over in the morning and gave me the "old water" line. Used them for a little over 1 year. The final straw was the last 3 weeks my pool was cloudy, first week i noticed this, i tried to explain the term "cloudy pool" the pool guy did not understand. So I called corporate and explained what i wanted. they said no problem, we will resolve. These are my issues. Documented twice, they tried to overcharge me, stating I didn't pay certain months. I sent in photos of checks that proved I paid. I have message history proving this. Over the year I must have had 4 different pool cleaners from them show up. Sometimes 1 guy, sometimes 2. Often the cleaners could not speak or understand english. What can I say about Martin!? He is possibly one of the most honest, detail-orientated pool serviceman we have ever had. Our last poolman only showed up sometimes, and within a few weeks the condition of our pool turned for the worst. So I called Jeremiah Pool for a quote and asked what was needed to do to get our pool back in top-notch shape. Martin came and took care of it, scrubbing the sides of our pool for all stains. Luckily the damage from our previous poolman was not permanent, especially since we just replastered our pool!! I'm give 2 stars since they're nice and show up each week...but their command of the various pool technologies and methods seems suspect. Martin has been caring for our pool for almost a year now. We hired him to replace the previous guy who was prone to spouting alt-right conspiracy theories at my family and was becoming super agitated...started feeling unsafe. He was however excellent with the pool. When Martin started the salt cell had red warning lights and was starting to blow fuses. Martin said it needed replacing. Since it was the 4th cell in 9 years I told him to disconnect the power and treat the pool like a regular chlorine pool which we've done before when the cell died. Everything was great for months until 12-13 weeks ago when a heavy Santa Ana wind filled the pool with leaves and branches. Within a week the water was green and murky. It took almost a2 weeks for Martin's guy to get it clear but he could not remove some of the green stains on bottom. About 3-4 weeks ago another big wind and more leaves and now the pool is green and murky for nearly a month straight...and Martin's guy is here every week. Also worth noting all our previous pool guys would bring a hose and vacuum to clean the bottom. Jeremiah does not. When I asked why he said it would clog the filter. To add insult to injury, the salt cell he advised replacing is now working fine...it just needed an acid cleaning and a new fuse housing. $50 to repair vs $1000 to replace. read more
