Absolutely terrible company. Did not fulfill obligations, the reason I switched providers is they indicated they would spray my entire lawn for bugs each time they came. This happened only the first time. Although I would call it out nothing was done to remediate. Because this was not done I ended up with two areas in my lawn that were infested with some type of bug that killed the grass I went to the local nursery and acquired the pesticide that killed the bugs and had to had to plant grass in those areas again. Additionally, we had a huge infestation of crickets, which again I mitigated. My suggestion find a local small business that does the service that have ownership and accountability with the work they do. read more

I have to say upfront, I had a different pest control company for routine service. Our neighborhood, especially with how mild the past few winters have been, has seen an uptick in ant issues. That is initially why I signed up with a competitor in early 2020. I switched to Aptive because I was sold by one of Aptive's Territory Managers. I believe his name was Mr. B. Miller. He was a young guy. I will say that I probably should have asked a few more questions. He sold Aptive's pest control service as a completely comprehensive approach. He even stated that Aptive had specialized licensing to apply treatments to the lawn. I was surprised by this and remember him saying it because I know it's illegal for a company to apply chemicals to your lawn without specialized licensing. He billed Aptive as a company that is going to do a complete inspection of your property for pests and take proactive measures. When the technician showed up, he was very professional. He was training another tech and they were both very cordial. The more experienced technician definitely seemed to have worked in his position for at least a year. He very clearly stated that Aptive does not hold a license that allows them to apply chemical to the lawn. He also made it clear that their program is centered around where the customer is seeing issues. But since I hired them as a preventative measure, I expected that there would be a full comprehensive inspection looking for potential pest activity or harborage sites. He did a good job but I had to specify that I wanted a comprehensive inspection. I will keep Aptive as I signed a contract, but I might as well have kept my previous company, as Aptive is no better than they are. And I feel that at least the territory manager I had who sold me on Aptive used deceptive selling practices. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Never sign up with a company before researching them first. This is a multi level/network marketing SCAM of a company. Their sales force and technicians are the ones really being scammed. Against my better judgement, and all the warning signs, I signed up with this company trying to save some money because things have been tight. I canceled almost immediately after finding out they don't even treat for carpenter bees, which is the only reason we got pest control in the first place. Don't believe their treatments are Kid and pet safe either. Ask them for an ingredient list and research the chemicals. They are literally spraying chemicals to KILL living beings. They are NOT safe. The salesman was nice but used sales tactics that really rubbed me wrong. Pressuring me to sign up without talking to my husband first. Also talked to neighbors and an elderly neighbor who is on disability was being charged more than us. Just gross. They will do anything and say anything to get the sale. They really RUSH you, which is a huge red flag among other things. It took me almost a full week to get my account canceled, because they call you back and then transfer you to their "loyalty" department, which never picked up and just ended my call after several times waiting long wait periods. I called and emailed so many times someone finally got back to me and said they were canceling my account and gave me the refund i asked for. Time will tell if that is even true. There are so many stories of continued charges after cancelation with this company. They were here for like 15 minutes when they did the service. I don't even think they did anything other than walking around the perimeter to spray something I could have picked up at Home Depot and did myself and clean up some spider webs. Don't use this company. They have a terrible business model and take advantage of their young techs and salestaff. IN addition to terrible aggressive sales training, and absolutely AWFUL customer service. The kid literally gave me cash from his pocket to pay for the cancelation of my current company. Then when I canceled with his company (Aptive), he called and asked for his money back! They absolutely prey on the elderly. Oh, and they are not certified techs or permitted salesman. Our repeated issue is we asked to reduce our teatments to three times a year, which they agreed, The PROBLEM is they keep sending people out after the third treatment, despite my calling and speaking to a representative in two straight weeks to cancel and hold off until I contact them to restart in 2024. This company is a SCAM. They require you to sign an annual contract for a "discounted" initial treatment + 4 quarterly treatments. Yes, this includes a mandatory WINTER treatment on the exterior of the house. We all know how active insects are during the dead of winter. An early cancellation before end of treatments incurs a penalty equal to the initial treatment discount. I was scammed into a $249 initial treatment (discounted to $29) + $119 per quarterly treatment, total of $505 for the year. I really want to cancel my service, but will have to pay $220 to do so. What a terrible company. The door to door salesman making his rounds around the neighborhood sold me on this company claiming they could treat for all insects and pests. This is a complete LIE. Their product DOES NOT TREAT MOSQUITO'S. The product they apply is completely ineffective at what is supposedly does. I have seen ZERO reduction of spiders and ants around my house after 4 treatments. You are better off buying bug spray from a home improvement warehouse and spraying it around your house perimeter. That's what I ended up doing around my house myself with my own product purchased. That did more for the spiders and ants than 4 Aptive treatments. I have no idea what their techs are doing on a site visit. The notes they leave have detailed descriptions of areas treated but I'm very suspicious now that the notes are completely fabricated. Again, I saw ZERO reduction seen for ants and spiders around my house after 4 visits from this company. Whatever their technicians are doing, it's not helping your house OR your wallet. Their treatments are no more than a technician walking around your house perimeter with a pump sprayer for approx 3-4 minutes per visit. That's it. Just look at all of this company's mediocre Yelp reviews. That tells an accurate story of what this company is about. STAY AWAY! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. Edit: Speaking to a manager is a waste of time as all they do is parrot the same thing as the call center agents. The bottom line is this: APTIVE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS. They will NOT refund you. They will NOT waive your early termination fee if you are dissatisfied with their service. They will NOT allow you to defer your mandatory WINTER treatment. They do NOT offer a Money-Back Satisfaction Guarantee, they will only offer "re-treatment" services, which is just more of the same worthless spray that is completely ineffective at what it does. Again, you are better off buying bug spray at your local home improvement store for ~$10 and walking your house perimeter than paying these guys $500 a year. This is the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of working with. They should be put out of business for their unethical, shady, corrupt and deceptive practices. I'm glad I read these reviews. I didn't have a chance to read the Yelp reviews until after my conversation with the sales guy, but honestly I was thinking maybe next year I'd consider their service when deciding whether to renew my current service. The Aptive guys have been riding their segways around our neighborhood for a couple of years now, and usually I pretend I'm not home. This time I answered the door. And the polite and articulate sales guy had a pretty good pitch. My current lawn fertilizing service tacks on perimeter pest control as an option, which I buy most years, but it hasn't been very effective (I've noticed ratings for most pest control companies on Yelp are about 3 stars, so maybe it's just a challenge for all companies). I wasn't sure if I had opted for the pest service this year from my lawn company. I was receptive to his pitch at first because he was right that my current service wasn't getting the job done--you could see the evidence. But I didn't want to pay again to another service in the same year, and figured I could spray around the property myself and maybe get decent results. Because his pitch was somewhat compelling, and because it was blazing hot outside, and because he was so nice, I invited him to step in while I checked my email invoices from my current company. Turns out I did pay for the pest control this year with my lawn service. Based on that I was able to make a strong case to decline his offer. But this was after 30 mins of hard selling on his part. He wouldn't take no for an answer--to ANYTHING. He even insisted that he could call my service and cancel it for me. The thing that kept me talking to him way longer than I usually would to a pesky solicitor is that he said they spray the whole lawn as part of their service, which was intriguing. I have over an acre, and my lawn service doesn't spray pest control over the whole lawn, just does the house perimeter. And for about the same per-visit price this guy was quoting for the whole lawn and everything else they claim they do. Now I see in one Yelp review that they aren't even licensed to put chems on the lawn. That reviewer said he was sold on that whole-lawn feature, but when the actual technician showed up, he said they aren't licensed for that. Very glad I eventually got this salesman to leave. I cancelled my other pest control because I loved the idea of having the inside and my yard serviced on top of the regular outdoor house spray and dewebbing, I've had 3 good techs and the rest were complete garbage and didn't do anything. Not to mention having a scheduled appointment and no one showing up or telling me they'd be at my house around 8:15pm! How about not over booking or just keeping us in the loop. I take days off so I can watch them service my house or ahit won't get done. I have cameras!!! I call to reschedule and get hung up on or told that I "just had a service" nope. That said, they require a 1 year contract and have a cancellation fee that's equal in price to one of their service visits ($130 in my case). FOR SPRAYING PEST CONTROL CHEMICALS. If this was landscaping or something where a meaningful quantity of supplies were ordered ahead of time I could understand. Beware of ANY business that operates this way. Worse still, when you do try to cancel, they try to channel you through a "retention manager". I'm pretty sure they stole our credit card information and made fraudulent purchases. Our home is OUTSIDE the service range of Aptive. Last summer during the pandemic a group of 5 or 6 people showed up to my house, ignored my "NO SOLICITING" sign, rang the doorbell and got a hold of my elderly parents. After eventually securing a contract they collected credit card information from a card we don't use regularly and managed to spell our name wrong. I promptly found the cancellation info in the contract and immediately cancelled the service. They still showed up and tried to work but we reminded them of the cancellation and they left. Since then we have received several fraudulent purchases on that credit card and every time they were for an item that was shipped with the incorrect spelling of our name. We do not use this card for several reasons, and all the stars are aligning and pointing to the Aptive Scam Team. I ask again about the ingredients and they just repeat "It's pet friendly." I asked to cancel the service because it wasn't working. I signed up but canceled the same day. The deal and the service sounded good at the time, but I had second thoughts about it. I don't know if the product works, but I'll say this -- it's not as easy to cancel as you'd want it to be. I called the West Chicago number, but the contract specifies Aptive needs WRITTEN notice of cancelation. You have to fill out the cancelation form and (like anyone living in the 21st century) email it in. (They also take letters and faxes if you're into that sort of thing). Trouble is, the email is hard to find on the contract. It's not listed with the other contact info at the top; it's way at the bottom. Here it is in case anyone needs it: chicago@goaptive.com. Warning! Read first before using their service. We used Aptive Environmental, LLC to rid our home of ants last spring. When I asked one of the technicians that came to our home how many more treatments were scheduled to complete our contact, he told me and then followed up with a warning. He warned us that his company is very difficult to cancel with after the initial contact is completed. He said that they will automatically renew the contract for another year. So now that we have one more treatment I sent them an email saying to cancel service and not to renew. They shortly later sent me a text reminding me of our upcoming appointment. I called them and told them after this appointment that I want to cancel. She said they would call me to confirm that our contract was fulfilled and won't renew service. This morning they emailed me with my contact that read see attachment. No attempt of customer service. No attempt of customer satisfaction. Just a shove in my face with the contact. I responded by saying after my last treatment to cancel. Again, no attempt to satisfy a customer. Instead they just responded and said that I will need to notify them in writing within 30 days after my last treatment. So, I will send them the written notification again immediately following the last treatment. If you have a pest problem, DO NOT USE Aptive Environmental, LLC unless you want to be treated without any regard to customer service. They require a one year contract and you can only cancel by jumping through their hoops. Rules are rules and I will follow their rules by writing them within the 30 days. But I now know that I will have to send the letter certified mail to make sure they cannot say they did not receive my letter. I will also call them and send them an email to let them know I sent the letter. Then I will contact my bank to put a stop payment so they don't try to renew the contract. You have been warned. Stay away from Aptive. 5/5/20 I just got off the phone with Natalie, the Loyalty Manager out of the corporate office in Salt Lake City. Natalie was outstanding to work with to cancel my account. She apologized multiple times for the way I was treated by the Chicago office; especially by Cristal. I unfortunately still cannot recommend their service because as nice as Natalie was, she is in another state and living in the Chicago area you are stuck with dealing with people like Cristal in the Chicago office.
