    Brocolli pasta bowl
    L. Eliza C.

It's an OK place. If you are hungry or half a time limit and then you know that at least at this Applebee there will be minimal wait time. Here is my review from a hungry vegetarian perspective: I got a broccoli pasta bowl and it's OK. The price is decent. My friend Ordered a chicken pasta dish and his include a bread stick. I ordered a diet Coke and wasn't told until I received the cup that it was diet Pepsi. That's a turn off. I never got a refill for my drink and I asked for a water and I never got it either. We placed an order for dessert via the device on the table since I have given up on the server. Will I come back? I would only come back if it's somebody's birthday otherwise I will make it a point to go to Texas roadhouse or another place. The price is not bad.

I've been an Applebees fan for years and like anything the quality and service at some locations can go up and down. It's not a fancy place but it never claims to be. It's good food, relatively quick in a comfortable and friendly place. This review is specifically about the Warwick, RI location on Quaker Lane. I recently visited with a friend who is disabled. We were welcomed and asked about seating preference and giving our choice. When the waiter came we had a very special request. My friend will not drink Pepsi so we brought a can of Coke with us and asked if we could ot for a Pepsi but drink the coke she brought. Not only did he say yes, he said no charge for the soda and offered us a cup with ice. We made a simple order with with plenty of special requests which were all met with NO hesitation! We got 2 Quesadillas, 1 with chicken and 1 without & we got fries, but also asked for sides of pickles, ranch dressing and guacamole. Everything was brought out and the waiter DEREK D, could not have been nicer. We were also checked on by the manager Michelle 2 separate times and she stopped to check on us but also chat with us. This was an amazing dine in experience, especially after so many months of take out while the dine in options were closed at many places. Side note: we did have leftovers that we did take out and were given separate containers for the pickles and ranch in addition to the container for the quesadilla and fries. Thank you Derek, Michelle and Applebees of Warwick. We will be back soon!!

    Prime rib dip

I usually don't give chain restaurants anything over 3 but Applebees hit the mark today. I usually don't go here but it's easy and cheap with my toddler. So I tried the prime rib dip. It was pretty, pretty, pretty good in the words of Larry David. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. It doesn't compare to a smokehouse sandwich but for Applebees this was really good. I'd get this again. Service was good and nice and quick for much which is what I needed due to the short time I have being with my toddler.

Food grate,a little slow..check out the seat I had to sit in. .......,........,............................

Sadly, not sure…read morewhat that is as this was as mediocre (if not slightly below mediocre) a restaurant as we have visited in a while. The food ... Probably the least impressive part of our meal was the food. Everything tasted bland and thrown together with no care. The menu has all the typical bar food staples ... nothing really imaginative or special. Including the taste. Seasonings are minimal. We had the grilled chicken Caesar salad ... bland and zero taste other than the lettuce. The best thing I can say about the salad was that the lettuce seemed fresh. The $8 add on chicken was half a chicken breast ... very dry and zero seasoning. No herbs, no salt ... no flavor. It had just been tossed into some kind of panini press and had some weird crusty reaidue on it that didn't look like chicken. The salad dressing was basically white mayonnaise. No lemon, garlic, etc. flavours ... just mayonnaise. It was described as 'house made'. Better to buy bottled, in that case. The pizza was bland too. The cheese had no flavour at all. Not even cheesy ... it was just kind of on the pizza. The crust was like a cracker. The chicken had some onions on it, which was really the only existence of any taste ... the rubbery chicken bits were probably the other half of the panini pressed chicken breast from my Caesar salad. The beer and cocktail list were good with a lot of IPAs, although not as many local names as we expected. The beer was shockingly expensive. A single can of Greater Good IPA was $12. With the tip and tax on that, you could buy a 4-pack at the store. Cocktails ranged between $16 - $18. The food prices as well were in the stratosphere. We just got back from a wedding at Disney World and the restaurant prices here were actually more than the prices of the Disney restaurants! If the food was good, I wouldn't complain about a $25 chicken Caesar salad or $24 burger. A salad with steak tips added would cost almost $35. For average food that didn't taste very fresh ... this isn't a place we'd return to. It's kind of a 'hey brah' vibe at the bar and the 'restaurant' space isn't very big. Most of the tables even in the restaurant are high tops, so be okay with that if you plan to dine there. The best thing I can say about this place is the vibe was cozy and the music was good. One real big red flag was that we watched a staff member drop something on the dirty floor that would be used on the tables by diners ... pick them up and continue to put them on the table. We also watched a food busser empty trash cans and then pick up plates of food and bring them to a table without washing their hands. Otherwise the staff was very personable.

The restaurant has a modern but cozy style, with lots of seating and a lively vibe that makes it perfect for hanging out with friends or going out with family. It felt comfortable but still exciting at the same time. The food was definitely the highlight. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and you can tell they care about quality. The portions were generous, and the presentation looked just as good as it tasted. There were so many options on the menu, so it would be easy for anyone to find something they like. The service was also great. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick without making us feel rushed. They checked in at the right times and made sure everything was correct. It made the whole experience even better because we felt taken care of. Overall, Tavern in the Square is a restaurant I would absolutely recommend. The dining area has honeycomb, black and white tile floor, the reclaimed wood slats on the benches and tables and big metal bowl lights all made for vibe cool. The bar is Big & oval bar must seat 20 people, It's a good spot too. Our libations were very tasty, I enjoyed one of the best Aperol spritz ($12) I have tasted and my date had the old-fashioned banana foster $14. We were both very happy with these choices. For a meal we ordered bowls, $25 each. I had the ahi Tuna bowl and she had the salmon bowl. They really cut back on the fish in these bowls... shrink- flation? Added lots of rice and I had to ask for more kimchi and carrots just to see more vegetables, but in general, it was fine. The Salmon bowl on the other hand had so much broccoli that it was overpowering the entire balance of the dish. I'll pick differently next time. The good service and the convenience of the tavern in Garden City will bring me back.

On St. Patrick's Day, I watched multiple bartenders yelling at each other in plain sight of the customers. It was uncomfortable and honestly just sad to witness at a place I've always loved. We left and went elsewhere. It also made sense of something I'd been noticing on recent visits, the place has been unusually quiet for what it had always been. Having been a regular through many staff changes over the years, I can say with confidence that the current bartenders simply don't represent what McKinley's is and what it stands for. I am not the first to state this. The right staff sets the tone for the whole place -- and right now, this group is chipping away at the local reputation and vibe that it's known for. I say all of this as someone who genuinely loves this place and wants to keep coming back. I really hope ownership and management take a hard look at what's happening, because the people behind the bar right now, I believe, are the reason regulars are walking out early, not coming back as often, or even coming back at all. They're definitely starting to get a reputation in our small town. There are too many great local spots to settle for an experience like this. It's unfortunate to write this, but the talk is getting very loud and somebody had to.

Having said that, suburban Americans are a funny bunch ... and it is also wildly popular. We went here with kids and I'd say on a Saturday night, 80% of the people here had kids. The music is played very loud ... so if your kids are misbehaving, it's not a huge deal. The music pretty much makes conversation tough but acts as a buffer for screaming children (or adults). The first thing is that the reservations system is absolutely a complete and utter shit show. They do this thing called 'call ahead' where you call the restaurant or go online and hold a spot. It's a turd of a system because it doesn't seem to work. We came in and waited almost 30 minutes and saw several others who checked in and came 10 minutes after get a table. When we asked the host, they said it was because they had 2 people in their group and we had 3 people. Yet they were all seated in the same section we eventually were at the exact same table size. Beyond that, when you walk into the restaurant there is a giant revolving door, which gives about 5 feet of clearance to the hostess stand. There were no less than 20 people waited in an area the size of a hotel elevator. And each time someone came in, there was basically nowhere to move and the door sometimes hit the people gathered in the small area to wait. I cannot imagine a planet on which this would not be some kind of fire code issue. Beyond the utter chaos and frustration of the check-in system, we were finally seated after 20 - 30 minutes. The waitress was clearly overworked. Very capable but spread too thin and a bit frazzled but helpful when she appeared. We ordered: - Smash burger. This was actually very good. At $18, it should be. 1 mile away is a Shake Shack and I'd say that Shake Shack is a slightly better burger (at 1/2 the price) but the fries at B.J's were better. - California Chicken Club. The chicken breast was grilled nicely and actually had a grilled flavour, which was good. The bacon could have been a bit crispier. Tomatoes seemed fresh. Guacamole was not fresh, likely, but better than mayonnaise. I'd order this again. - The side Wedge was pretty blah. There were literally two small bacon bits on it. The dressing probably came from an industrial-sized bucket and contained no blue cheese chunks. It may as well be ranch. The lettuce was crisp and fresh. Probably not much better than French fries as a side. - Brown Ale was pretty terrible. It tasted of alcohol and was not smooth at all. I'd probably get a national brand, if this was a good example of their house made beer. Overall, I have to admit the food was better than 99% of chain restaurants (Applebees, Chilis, TGIFriday, etc.) It was true comfort food and if your expectations are low ... and you need a place to take the kids, this won't be terrible. It's somewhere between a Chucky Cheese and a Tavern on the Square. The prices were high ... but we felt that we got what we paid for.
