This place could be good if they had better management. Every Applebee's I have been to in Springfield has horrible time management and service. Which is too bad because however long it may take to get the food, it is always pretty tasty. I wouldn't mind waiting for food if the service was better during the wait. Absolutely the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. I've been to this Applebee's a few times before and it has been great. Today my friend and I decided on Applebee's because there was no wait time. Little did we know we would have to wait an HOUR AND A HALF for our food. Our waitress, Dakota, was MIA for 30 minutes. We were not notified if she went on break or what she was doing. In the mean time we had to talk to 2 other waitresses to finally get the manager. The manager came over and apologized and said our food and drinks were comped. That's fine and all but like we came here to eat not just drink one beverage the whole time because we were never asked if we needed a refill until Dakota brought out our food another 30 minutes later. We asked for to go containers because at that point we were just ready to leave. Our food was "rushed" and did not look good at all. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back. For Dakota, y'all might want to retrain her because our table was not the only table that had an issue with her service. read more

This location, the last two times I was there, my order has been completely wrong. I order a medium rare steak and I get a thin well done non seasoned slice of meat. Then I order the steak and shrimp, again medium rare, and get well done thin non seasoned slice of meat, Without the shrimp. Horrible!! Wasn't expecting gourmet but was excepting edible. Red potatoes were soggy and cold on the New Orleans bourbon steak, the onions and mushrooms were cold and stale tasting. Husband got the New Orleans chicken and shrimp. Over powered with an uncooked and uncooperative pour of seasoning that leaves your moth a chalky mess. His onions and mushrooms were more of the same. They however did not mess up the kids chicken Alfredo (tasted off but was okay) and the Kraft mac n cheese. Thank goodness they had side salads. We stopped by for an early dinner, about 5 o'clock. Ordered an appetizer and two entrees. Proceeded to wait for an hour food our food. Tables around us were sat after we were, ordered after we were, and still received their food before we did. We eventually asked our waitress to find out our food had beverage been put in. After we finally got our food we were informed that our appetizer would be on the house - which is the only reason I rated it as high as I did. We asked for a box, waited after our waitress said "I'll be right back with that", and watched her assist other tables. I went to Applebee's for the the first time tonight to try their new $1 rum drink. I order an app and a burger, as I waited extremely long to begin with. After my appetizer, I got my burger. I saw there was crusted, dried sauce on my plate from another food in the kitchen (the plate had been washed and they missed it) So gross. I sent it back, and he didn't understand what was wrong with it. After giving me a new burger and no compensation for the dirty plate I was given, we patiently waited for our bill. My boyfriend had his card out to give to the waiter, but my other friends were still eating. He asked me boyfriend to "hold onto his card until others we're ready to pay". He then proceeds to come back not even 2 minutes later and ask my friends if they are ready to pay, when the checks are still face down, they're eating and don't have their payment ready. He stands there until my friends wipe off their hands and get out their credit cards. Extremely dissatisfied and won't be coming back. read more

We recently visited this restaurant for dinner and were very disappointed. I don't know if they've had a change in kitchen staff, however, the past couple of times we've dined there, the taste of the food has diminished. This time the chicken was dry, the green beans were almost raw, and only about 1/3 of the baked potato was cooked all the way through. Also the service was moderate. I had hot tea to drink and had to ask for sugar 3 times before I received it. Because of the consistent decline in food preparation, and the so-so service, we won't be going back to this restaurant again. read more

My wife and I come up to Springfield from Arkansas from time to time. We always eat at Applebees and get the same food because it is just what we like. The food is always good and consistent. What I really am writing about is the service. Met the manager. Very nice and helpful. If you go, ask for Gina. Great smile, very helpful, Awesome attitude. We did the 2 for $25.... both ordered the house sirloin... steaks were rubbery.... tasted like they had been boiled.... one of the potatoes was so hard it had to go back... the potatoes we ate were under-cooked.... the steamed veggies were under-cooked.... upcharge for a little cheese and bacon bits was 1.49 per potato.... still didn't help... asked for a table... even though there were empty tables everywhere we still had to wait between 5 and 10 minutes... years ago we went there several times a year... the food was really good back then... it is nasty and it sucks now.... Ugh. Last visit they had none of the appetizers we wanted to order. We asked for some substitutes, which the waiter said was fine but then we were charged full price. Dollar drink special = gross. Service was awful. Towards the end of our visit the music changed and was so loud it felt like we were in a club, couldn't hear each other talk. Every other lyric was f that, butches, hoes, etc... I LOVED applebee's when I lived in KS. Went last night for a simple date (Apps and desserts) our total was over 30.00 the apps were not impressive, got sweet potatoes fries and wonton tacos. The sweet potatoes fries didn't even cover the bottom of the plate there were so few. The wonton tacos were ok, nothing great. Then dessert tried the blonde which I have always craved, the serving place was sticky and gooey and looks like it was never cleaned, and the churros we got were small and not worth it. Plus the whole place smelled like a JR Highs boy locker room and there was no AC or air flow. NEVER again. read more

We went into this location today, for my fiancé's birthday. It wasn't very busy at all. (So therefore we expected our food to come rather quick, but weren't in a rush) After getting our drinks (frozen strawberry lemonade, and Stella beer) we got the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer, our chips were SO STALE. So he brought us some more and we specifically asked for ones that weren't stale, and they came out worse than the first ones! Then our food came, my fiancé got the bbq brisket tacos and they were freezing cold! (We waited forever for our food) He also ordered a Perfect Patron Margarita (after his Stella beer) I watched the bar tender make it and it sat there for a good 10 minutes after being made before I had to ask the hostess to bring it to us we were done eating by the time he got his drink. Lastly we asked for boxes and our check, we'll be takes the tablet and pulls up our check and said "you can just leave the money on the table, I'll get it later"! I'm not one to complain but this was outrageous! We never even got our receipt. Because he never came back... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE. Wish I could give no stars! I went there tonight I ordered 3 different apps and was told each time after 5 to 10 minutes that they were out of it. At one point she said that she thinks that the cooks just don't want to cook it so they maybe lying. Makes me wonder if the cooks wash their hands if they are that lazy. The manager never came to discuss the problem after the waitress told me that he knew about the situation heck I would have taken an apology from the waitress. I was not looking for a free meal but would have at least liked an acknowledgement that they were terrible at service. The floor had crap all over it after we paid I went over to the bar and asked for a complaint number it so happened that the manager was the person I asked he told me he would go get the number but needed my receipt to take to the back. I waited 5 minutes and just left. I now have realized that I have no info to leave a complaint on their website...how "convenient". Called the complaint line and the hours are only Mon-Fri 7am-7pm why wouldn't the complaint line be open when the restaurants are open? So done with Applebee's I have given them multiple tries and every time I have been underwhelmed. read more

This was such a sad experience. My boyfriend and I used carside to go and the order was supposed to be ready at 2:00. This was the first time i had used this service, so when we got there at 2:01 I called and asked if I needed to go in to get the food and was told "nope we'll bring it out to you when it's ready!" 15 minutes later we were still waiting so I called again and asked about it and was instantly hung up on. I called right back and was told "we'll have it right out" and it was brought immediately. I look at the ticket and it is clearly printed that the order was ready at 2:03. We decided to just blow that off, go park and eat. When we unpacked the food, we found that no utensils were given to us. We went back and called a third time and was brought utensils. By the time this was all said and done, our food was completely cold and the noodles had even begun to turn hard. I called once when and asked to speak with the manager but was told "I'm not sure where he is. Can I take your number and have him call you back?" Guess what... never heard from the manager. we went today ,my husband being a vet and we just want to say thank you for the free dinner and this was the best steak he had at applebys,the waiter who brought our food out asked my husb to ck the steak before he left so hed know if it was done properly and it was, sometimes my husb has dry steak since he likes his medium well and this one was juicy and done to perfection-------again thank you for honoring our vets with a complimentary dinner enjoyed it immensely read more
