My roommate and I got to applebees when business was slow. We were seated immediately and then everything went downhill from there. We waited at the table for 10 minutes for the waiter to come over and at least another 5-10 for him to come back with 2 waters. When he finally did take our order he walked away and started to chat with the other staff that were standing around for at least 5 minutes before going to the computer to put in our orders. The food showed up with smaller portions than usual. The wait and complete disregard for our time overshadowed the mediocre food that I've come to expect from applebees. It just goes to show that even when business is slow, terrible staff can ruin a good meal. read more

I was a big fan of Applebee's in the past, but most recently it has become apparent that the quality of this franchise nationwide has eroded to an all time low. If the food was anything like it looks on TV ads it would be wonderfuL, BUT!!!!!! It definitely is not. This Applebee's (south central , MO) is in the bottom third of the restaurants I have visited over the years, the food quality is without a doubt the worst food I have ever eaten at an Applebee's. It is usually cooled off by the time it gets to the table, the waitresses have stringy hair hanging over the food and the last time I was there our waitress looked as if she had worn the same clothes for a week. The hardest part for me is that the restaurant was less than half full. Wait staff was standing around jawjacking and not attentive to the tables, I think the chief cook was a junior in high school and we tasted the wings and chicken tenders and every bit of it was over cooked and dry, the chicken coating was soggy and slid off the chicken. The ribs were almost all bone and gristle. The meat was tough and hard. It's bad when my kid won't eat them! I do not usually do these reviews unless I really feel moved to do so. I hope the proprietors read this and let it soak in. read more

Never been a fan of these overpriced sit down chain restaurants. However, last January a TV ad tricked me into going there with their mouthwatering brisket enchalada. We ordered over phone and I went to pick it up. I'm not going to nit pick about the parking situation (door is in front of building while parking is on side and in back) I have a damaged spine and disability tag so I will say this place is not Handicap friendly. The real issue is the food. I was excited to get home and try my $12.99 briskett enchalada. Was I in for a surprise? In all honestly it looked like a frozen $1 TV dinner. And tasted like one. Okay, we got bamboozled. They will absolutely never see my money again. Then, we received a $25 gift card as a gift. We chose the 2 for $20 with 2 drinks - to go. My expectations were non existent. I ordered the cheeseburger & fries simply because I didn't trust the 5 other entrees listed in this special. The appetizer salad was good no complaints. But the burger was just a burger. Just a simple nondescript burger with a very tiny bag of greasy fries. Aside from the appetizer salad, I could of gotten a better burger & fries - maybe not at McD but definetly at Dairy Queen for half the price. Who goes here ? How is this Applebees still in business? Do all other Applebees serve overpriced sub-par food? Sorry but this is not my idea of a Dining experience. If you are just passing through Rolla - my advice is to skip here. We stop to eat At Applebee's in Rolla Mo. Such a bad experience with the whole visit there. It started out pretty good the server was nice at the beginning. Are food was late I received my ice tea about an hour after I finished my food. Never did get a refill. I ordered salad and shrimp with some chicken wings. Never did get my wings. She forgot to get straws so we thought maybe we will wait but that was not a good idea the server forgot the straws completely. My daughter received fries and we didn't see her main meal till we were all done. A little too late! I always stop in to have a bite at Applebee's but I don't think this will be my choice of restaurants next time. The waitress told us at the beginning not her choice of food eating At Applebee's maybe I should of listen to her from the beginning and just left to go eat at another restaurant. I sure hope the Manager looks into the whole situation! A business should not stay open when they cannot keep their customers satisfied. I specifically made a yelp to make this review. We recently moved to the area and i actually enjoy applebees but we've had nothing but problems with this one. Between multiple mess ups and things left out but tonight was the final straw. Tonight my fiance ordered food to go and paid for it. The woman whom took the order saw it come out and it sat for 15 minutes before my fiance could get someone's attention. After asking if it was our order the man asked went and checked the bag then went to the kitchen. While the man was in the kitchen another female staff came out opened the bag and started eating fries out of our bag! My fiance asked again if that was our order and the male said oh yah here and handed the bag to my fiance. He absolutely would not take our food without them replacing the container of fries and then made a manager aware of what happened and her answer was that the staff is new and offered a free dessert. We will no longer be eating here and i suggest you dont either! The tater patch is around the same price range and tastes much better and the service is wonderful. NOT FOR HEALTH-CONSCIOUS EATING! In a town where the eating choices range from the hopelessly ordinary down to nearly the disgusting, this is probably way up on the scale. Unfortunately their menu is overwhelmingly devoted to heavy meats and other high-cholesterol items with emphasis on grilling and deep-fry prep. If you're looking for veggie-based and/or health-conscious choices, this is not the place for you. The upside is Appleby's nearly faultless ambiance and service, with an almost festive atmosphere which will please nearly everyone. For eating in the realms of higher consciousness one would need to look elsewhere -- though not in Rolla, sad to say. read more

Stopped in with my wife after a movie for the half priced apps and some drinks. Horrible service. Our waitress brought us our drinks and haven't heard from her since. Told her when we sat down that our table was sticky. She said she'd clean it but I had to go get a bar rag and cleaned it myself after waiting over 5 minutes. EXCELLENT service. The door girl was a little ditzy, but our waiter, Stephen, was great! Updated us on specials for the day and checked in to make sure we were good after our food. We go to Applebes frequently. The steaks can depend on the cook as to whether they are good or bad. I always get the Steak and Shrimp Parmesan. The shrimp is always tender and not overcooked. The steak can very to somewhat underdone to a little overdone but I am not super picky as long as it isn't well done or rare. The waits are usually very attentive. Anytime I have had a problem with the food, it has been taken care of promptly and correctly. At one point they had some grilled asparagus as their seasonal vegetable. I never liked asparagus until I had theirs. Unfortunately they got rid of it and I had to learn to make it at home. It is very kid friendly even though they serve alcohol. read more

I really like Applebees restaurants but not the one here in Rolla. I have been there a few times a year and half the time the service is slow, the price is about right and the food is cold or not cooked. My husband ordered cheese stuffed meatballs and they were very cold, not cooked thoroughly, I got steamed vegetables and they were hard. There is a difference between steamed and not cooked. Today I ordered from the car side to go and they gave me no spoon for the soup and the salad was very little. For 12 dollars and they forgot my drink and I ask for no chicken in the salad and I have found pieces of chicken as if they put it in and decided to take it out. Stara should be promoted to management; she's excellent with customers, accurate with orders, prompt, friendly, and made me a fan of this restaurant. Oh, and the food is amazing. Decided to make the drive to Rolla tonight to go to applebees for dinner with another couple, myself and my husband. Our waitress took 10 minutes to take our drink order, then fought with us about getting an orange for a shocktop beer. She kept saying that they don't come with it. I insisted that as a prior bartender, they do, and I didn't understand what the hassle was to take 3 steps to the bar directly next to us and get an orange slice. She then never came back to check on us until we got our check. She didnt even bring us our food! Once we got our meals, she left our appetizer plates sitting on the table until we left. We were cramped and had no room for anything. We even had to ask another waitress for drink refills and she brought them to us. To top it off, two of us got steaks and both were GREY. My inlaws own a steak restaurant so we know what a good steak looks like. And I understand it's applebees not a steak restaurant but to give someone a grey steak? That's disgusting. She never asked us to cut into the steaks to check them or anything or we would have said something. Myself and the other woman who got the steaks, just ate the sides and took maybe 2 bites of the steaks. Nobody asked anything about it! Obsurd! I've been to plenty of other applebees and had much better food and much better service. Absolutely ridiculous. Disappointed! read more
