My order was not correct. So i waited while my 3 companions ate. Then when mine came out apparently the cook was in a hurry. Because my pasta was extremely undercooked and chewy. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese with no bacon on top to go. When it comes its a 16 $ dinner with bacon on top and a chicken tender. . totally dissapointed. In my visit this time. I would give it 2 stars because generally the food is good , but the service is terrible at the Indio Applebees. It has been every time I've been there except for once. We usually go in late night on Friday's because nothing else is open . Never a hostess available , always the same female manager with dark hair that walks by and never acknowledges customers . Then when she's asked if there are hostesses she says with an attitude , yes there are 2 but they are cleaning tables . WhT the heck? Shouldn't busters or wait staff do that? It is terribly understaffed and not managed well. I have been to many other Applebee's and get acceptable to great service . I'm not spending my money there anymore . This is probably the worst s in the valley. Went 12.03.17 for the $1.00 long island ice tea & happy hour. It wasn't busy at all! Literally 8 to 10 tables in the whole restaurant! Got sat for 2 & didn't get waited on until 10 minutes after out arrival. I was ready to get up & go to another location but by the time I would have got to the one in Palm Desert the happy hour would have been over. As we were waiting the servers were just standing around talking and one, who ended up being our server, went out of her way to mention that she was supposed to be on break & that's why it took so long for us to be greeted. Walked in and waited 8 minutes there was no host available to greet us when I walked to go ask the waitress if we could sit down she said she would send the host over waited another 2 minutes we walked out would rather go to the La Quinta location for the customer service is always excellent. I have eaten at this Applebee's for my last time today. Well actually was there today but didn't eat. A group of our friends have eaten dinner there on Monday evenings for months, prior to bowling. More times than not the order comes out of the kitchen incorrectly. Well done burgers are rare, dinners served to the group far apart, etc. There is often no seater. Our group has seated our selves, gotten our own silverware and menus, once I even washed the table. In the past I've ordered the Wiskey Chicken without mushrooms and received the dish as ordered. After eating this dish numerous times on Monday's I was told this dish is unable to be prepared without mushrooms. The manager made a point of saying it is unable to be made this way, even after I told her I have had the whiskey chicken without mushrooms numerous times in the past. I was essentially told I was a liar because this dish can not be made without mushrooms. Not surprisingly I've had the Wiskey chicken without mushrooms since being told it can't be made that way. Recently I've been having the stir fry without mushrooms. In fact I've had this dish at least 3 times. Today I ordered the same dish, from the same server. When the server placed the order with the kitchen, the server was told by the cook, "tell them he needs to order something else," that the stir fry is not available without mushrooms. The server informed the cook the kitchen had been making stir fry without mushrooms for me in the past. Nonetheless, the cook refused to cook the dish. Once again a manager tried to tell me essentially I'm crazy because the stir fry has never been made without mushrooms as it all comes pre-made. I had nothing while my dinner mates ate. I was clear to the manager I will never visit nor spend any money in this Applebee's again. Clearly there is one lazy cook who refuses to make dishes as ordered. Sadly the management allows this cook the leeway while telling guests they in fact have never had a dish prepared as they have had in the past. read more

Worst service I've ever had!!! Drinks and food took way too long to come out. My husband ordered a beer and even that took 15 minutes and was the wrong beer. On top of that, our server was conversing with another guest for at least 10 minutes, (I understand, being nice comes with the job, but what about the other tables that were left unattended while she chatted). Ended up asking a hostess walking by to get us refills, extra napkins, and dipping sauces. And of course I was met with a sigh of discontent, and a rude comment because I was not patient enough to wait for my server. I was able to complain to a manager and all I got was an excuse about there policy on encouraging there servers to talk with their guests and disbelief that her hostess was disrespectful... I have visited this location probably shy of a dozen times since its inauguration. First and foremost the staff is great but it's not difficult to notice that most of the hosts and servers are new and lack experience in the food & beverage industry. Your visit at this location can either be absolutely terrific or a dull fully dreadful. On a couple occasions when asking for a platter with specific instructions, they where not fulfilled and had to be returned to the kitchen for correction. The prices are like any other Applebee's affordable and acceptable. I will probably review again in a couple months since I frequent this restaurant maybe 2-3 times a month. I feel once the staff is fully trained and situated this location will be able to offer the same service that Applebee's is known for. read more

I've came here a couple times and every single time has been a bad experience, but I seem to always want to give them a second chance. Walking in you're supposed to wait for the hostess to seat you, however, no one ever seems to be at the front & you're waiting there for what seems to be forever! Other waiters & waitresses see you waiting but won't come up to you to at least say, "someone will be right with you" or something.... It seemed to me like all the employees were hiding out in the back, it was such a long wait to even get a drink.... Management really needs to step it up! read more
