Been to this location many times. We had Mother's Day reservations. We showed up on time, but we were only three, not four as one of our party was ill. For what ever reason the hostess had seated in the very back corner, I mean a very last seat in the place by the bathroom doors, walking past several empty tables and booths on the way. I think we were dressed as well as most everyone else. But for some reason this hostess didn't like something, never encountered an issue there like this before. I have no idea what I/we did to annoy this woman just walking in the door but I/we did. And it took a very long time to even get a water, or waitperson or anything. Finally I caught the eye of one who said he's take care of us. Very nice waiter, g reat service. It may be a long time before I go there again. I almost stopped on our way out the door to ask why, what trespass did we commit, but she was no where to be seen. It's a shame I really like the food here and the staff is usually 100% on point but this really put a damper on our Mother's Day celebration. I love the Daily Grill in LA and decided to try this location today. There was no wait, but the service was a bit odd. I had called ahead and put my name down for a party of eight. When I arrived, they told me my party was already there and sent me to the back, only to realize it wasn't my group. Then they said, "Oh, I guess they took your table." Yikes. A little confusing, but they fixed it within about 10 minutes and got us seated. One thing I always appreciate about Daily Grill is the freshness. That said, this wasn't my favorite Ahi tuna salad. The tuna itself was cooked well, but I would've preferred it a bit more blackened and better seasoned, it tasted a little like pre-made seasoning. The salad was fresh, but could've used more citrus and a touch of sweetness to balance it out. On the bright side, I tried the kids' menu hamburger, and those were delicious; mini sliders on brioche that really hit the spot. read more

My partner got the Blackened Shrimp & Avocado Salad and talked about it for the rest of our visit in the valley. First visit to this Daily Grill location and had a good experience. On street parking, as well as a large private lot in the back of the complex. Large indoor dining area and two smaller patios along the streets (El Paseo and Ocotillo). Tracy waited on us. Super positive attitude and great service. We started off with a couple Bloody Marys ($13). My wife loved hers, but I wasn't a big fan, so I switched to a Strawberry Lemonade ($5.25) with free refills. For our entrees, we each ordered Eggs Benedict ($22), which you can mix and match, so my wife tried a Royal Benedict and a Crab Cake Benedict, and I tried a California Benedict and a Royal Benedict. Both came with a choice of sides; I got fruit, and my wife got the breakfast potatoes. Everything was well prepared (eggs were perfect) and very tasty. This spot is far from amazing when it comes to the taste and quality of the food. It wasn't terrible but let's just say I definitely won't be back. The taste was very lack luster and needed salt for real. I think the place should be better for the simple fact of its location. It's on El Paseo and it belongs on Highway 111 or down in Cathedral City. It did not live up to its name or its location. We came as a big group and the only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the service was somewhat decent and they were accommodating to our party. I do feel that the service could have been better but let's be honest I don't think it usually caters to certain people so I'll leave that for what it is. We had a wonderful experience tonight at the Daily Grill. Our server was Tracey and she was the highlight of the entire experience! She has a smile that lights up the room and customer service that any restaurant owner would be proud to have with any of their team members. We had the beef short rib over risotto and the lemon arugula salad with blackened prawns added. Both dishes were above excellent. The meals came out fast and were delicious. I can't say enough great things about the experience. How did we not know about this restaurant sooner? We will visit every time we come to the Palm Desert area. Daily Grill is a dream of a restaurant. I fell in love with this restaurant and am adding this spot on my regular rotation. Eating here is like dining in NY. The booths with the cute little table lamps, the glitz and glamor old time celebrity artwork, and the dark wood and style does give it that good old New York feel. It's hard to put on paper but go and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. This restaurant is casual and bustling. It's very popular here but thankfully they have a lot of indoor seating and a few side and front outdoor seats/tables. I'd recommend dining inside to get the whole vibe though. The bar was crowded and loud, looked like a cool old timey business man's bar. Service was wonderful. The gentlemen that waited our table was an OG of the restaurant as he noted he worked here for a long time. Middle aged Hispanic man, I'm sorry I forgot his name because his service, friendliness, and attention to detail was everything! When I go back next time I'll look out for him so I can update his name to this review. Anyways, the staff here hustle. Food was coming and going. The booth I sat at was a ways from the kitchen but there was an open door so I could see what was going on in the kitchen, it was pretty cool and they had plenty of staff running around. Service was 5/5 stars for sure. Aside from the atmosphere and service being amazing I'll be dreaming about this meal. It was the perfect combination of an appetizer, soup and salad. Definitely ordered too much but it was all so good, no regrets! Popcorn shrimp 5/5: get this! They are lightly breaded but crunchy and oh so delicious. Pretty generous portion size of shrimp, no filler veggies or anything which I appreciated. I loved that the cocktail sauce had a big horseradish / spice kick to it and the aioli was tasty. Normally I'd pick a creamy sauce over cocktail sauce any day, but not here, that cocktail sauce was bomb. Wedge salad: 5/5. The perfect wedge done right. Extra crispy bacon, loaded with dressing and blue cheese crumbles, what's not to love. Just a great salad and main. Gazpacho Soup: 4.5/5. I only docked 1/2 a star as I wish it had shrimp. Love gazpacho with shrimp but for a vegetarian soup dish this was exceptional. Super flavorful and refreshing. It was so good and done right. Places need more vegetarian dishes, so I'm happy they have this option. My only recommendation is they keep the gazpacho on their permanent menu like they used to do back in the day. When I came in they were showcasing a "throwback" menu in which the gazpacho was on it. I worry once that menu goes away it won't be a dish you can get. Hopefully daily grill receives enough feedback to keep it because I saw a lot of people order it and it's not a dish you can get everywhere. Until then, rush to go try it before it's gone! My experience at the daily grill was lovely and it's such a great all around restaurant. No complaints and I'll be back as soon as I can because this was a dream simple meal. read more

Annoying place. 5:15 res. They sat us and our baby in an aisle by the kitchen. A waitress immediately complained to me about not being able to get to a table because of a high chair, meanwhile it was actually blocked by someone in my party because the table is on an angle by the kitchen. I go to the hostess who's rude to start and prioritizing the phone and I ask to move...even outside to not be in an aisle and she says we will see what we can do, you can go back, and we'll "fetch" you when we figure it out. So they put us outside which is fine. Food was 6/10. Our waiter was very nice. Probably won't go back. Not worth it. Porta Via and many other places are better mannered. read more

The Daily Grill is like an old shoe to the four of us. We come to the Desert annually for a week long of golf. More often than not we make a point of coming here. Last week our 19th hole was here for lunch. Choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose indoors. Our server was Tracey. She was quick moving. Very personable. Turns out she's worked there 26 years. The menu has slightly changed since we first started coming here. No more calf liver and onions. Wish they would reintroduce it. Ordered- * both hubby & I got the grilled skirt steak. Cooked to order. A definite must order. Choice of two sides. I went with roasted peanuts coleslaw and sweet potato fries. Hubby went with grilled asparagus and slaw. * sis & BIL both ordered pasta entrees. Generous portion size. Endless refills of my Arnold Palmer. Once again a great meal. Went here for lunch today, a Monday. I was craving fried calamari, so I ordered it. I was quite disappointed with it. I know they say that it has pepperoncini, which they have laying on top but they apparently sliced pepper Cheney, batter it, and deep fry it along with the calamari. I normally really like pepper Cheney, but the way they prepared this it gave kind of a bitter taste to everything, including the calamari. Their sourdough bread was fabulous as always along with their iced tea. I really enjoy the daily grill, but found this to be frankly probably the worst thing I've had at the daily grill. read more

I'm undecided whether I'd come back here. As a local who has grown up in the valley, Daily Grill has always been a pretty reliable place, but I hadn't been here in a couple of years until today. Pros: our food was excellent. My husband got the chicken sandwich and I got the skirt steak salad. We would get both again. The location is convenient with lots of parking. I like the old school decor, but I also know that's not everyone's preference. Cons: service. We sat down and who we thought was our waiter took our drink order. Then another person brought them and proceeded to take our order. A runner brought our food and didn't say a single word to us. No hello, here you go, everything look ok...nothing. She also gave us the wrong plates, and when we simply mentioned to each other that we'd just switch, she didn't even say anything. We waited quite a bit after eating for our bill. The person who originally took our drink order finally came and we asked for the bill and box. He got our box and the second person brought our bill. It was just such an odd service experience, especially when you're paying these prices. It also wasn't very busy, which makes it worse. With so many other dining options in this area now, I'd try something new before coming back here. read more

I went with two friends on a Sunday for lunchtime. They serve brunch until 3p on Sundays, which a nice long time to have options for food. We made a reservation, but luckily it wasn't as crowded as we thought it would be. We sat outside and were glad there were heaters, since the patio doesn't get sun until late afternoon. Our waitress was nice, the only thing was that since it was slower, we didn't see the wait staff as often as we would have liked. Which can be good to enjoy food and relax, but it was kinda hard to flag someone down when we would like to ask for something. The spinach artichoke dip is amazing, so is the bread that comes with it. My friend got the blackberry brioche French toast that was super tasty. I am glad they have impossible patties since I am vegetarian. This is a fun spot to come to for a fun afternoon on El Paseo! read more

Let me start this by saying we didn't plan on coming here. We actually stopped across the street to dine at kitchen 86, but after half an hour of waiting to for someone to acknowledge our existence we stood up and left. Thank goodness for the amazing staff at Daily grill who greeted us and were extremely attentive. Damien, you were the mvp of saving our evening! Now on to the important stuff. The night air was crisp and chilly but space heaters covered that (again our server was going above and beyond by adjusting the heat for us). The relaxed vibe was perfect for having a conversation and not having to yell over any music. I must admit I had very low expectations when it came to food as I was willing to take anything at that point just based off of the great service we were receiving. But OH MAH GAWD it was good. Popcorn shrimp..... lightly battered, seasoned, and perfectly fried!!! Shrimp chicken pasta was Smokey and so full of flavor that we took the bread and wiped up the last drops of sauce to enjoy. Mahi mahi with risotto (a seasonal special item) buttery, lemony, tasty, hold on while I take another bite amazing! Finishing with this apple cobbler with a massive scoop of vanilla.... The way this food had us in a chokehold. It has been a while since we have gone out and had NOTHING negative to say about our dinner. Atmosphere - Food - Service!!!! You have to hand it to a restaurant that can deliver great food and excellent service time-after-time, year-after-year. I always take my friends from out of town so we can sit on the patio and watch the parade of fabulous cars and interesting people pass by. Very El Paseo and very entertaining. Everything on the menu is presented with elan but minimal fanfare. It's just that good. Justin was our waiter -- very personable, and didn't rush us. I give it 4 stars and not 5 because it was so noisy. A tray of plates, and glassware was dropped, and the crash was ear splitting. There were multiple tables closer to the front of the restaurant that were told were reserved for other parties. At 6:30 we got up and had to flag down our waiter and explain as our food had not arrived and everyone around us had already been served what was the hold up???? On a recommendation from friends, my wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Ambience: Nice place. I, personally, like the dark wood decor mixed with the art-deco vibe. However, I will say, the area is tight. And by that I mean hard to navigate. A wheelchair or walker would have trouble fitting through the tables. Everything is close together. With that said, plenty of outside seating on two different patios, and ample indoor seating including a small bar area. Overall, my kind of place and somewhere I would frequent. Food: Excellent. I had a three chicken taco appetizer, which was an ample portion and excellent in taste and quality. I ordered a cup of clam chowder to accompany the meal, and thank goodness the waiter alerted me to the fact it was red-chowder versus real clam chowder. Red chowder is not clam chowder, it's a shell-fished based pot. I passed. My wife had a BLTA which was terrific. Plenty of fresh ingredients and the quality was plain to see. They didn't skimp on the bacon either. Good stuff. Service: The service was about as stripped-down and basic as can be. It was efficient. It was prompt. It was not friendly, welcoming, or even engaging. Me, I could make friends with a rock in the desert, but this guy was having none of it. I watched his interactions with other tables, and it was the same...so it wasn't something we did. Just sterile. That's all. Overall, based on the food, pricing and ambience, I would give it a dinner shot. But, I would definitely sit in the bar, as we haven't yet found a bartender that lacked personality. read more

Service: The manager at the time (last visited in November 2023), Paula, was very attentive to all customers upon entrance and was training new staff when I walked in. Paula was focused on ensuring the staff understood the importance of making sure guests were greeted and communicated with upon entrance.
