Some aspects of the visit were good others weren't. Host and greeters were helpful and kept busy(one guy helped an elderly lady to her car) Had to wait on the waitress multiple times for refills, boxes, and checks. She was the bartender but nobody was at the bar. The manager was out and about which was good to see. Food was not very good at all. Had to send some back to be cooked fully as requested. read more

Service was good, wait was lengthy, but the waitress Shannon was very accurate and polite with apologizing, the bar manager came by and talked to us. The food was ok, my dad's order wasn't ok. His steak wasn't done properly twice, and he didn't get his 2nd appetizer. But it was cool. I guess one of the head managers came and also apologized which was nice. We're just visiting the area, and I also am a kitchen manager myself. So I look at details alot with texture and presentation. But the service part was awesome and on point. Service is horrible here please do not attend. Everything about this restaurant is bad. I waited for my food with my girlfriend for about an hour and it had to be taken back because my steak was not cooked right. I ordered the shrimp sirloin steak and it came wit no shrimp. I told the manager about it and he tired to give me my shrimp on the side when it should've been on my steak like how it's advertised in there menu. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was actually really good! Visited from Washington DC, and there aren't too many restaurants worth going to in Dover (In my opinion). Decided to go to this Applebee's since it was right next door to the hotel. I was very surprised! Sat at the bar which was clean and smelled fresh! Ever been to a bar/restaurant and smelled mildew?? My family and I visited yesterday, my visit was so displeasing. I had my 4 yrs son and 2 daughters wife and aunt and uncle over 100 tab. Dont know why we did t leave but we didn't. Drinks wasnt brought on time. Appetizers had to be brought out bc we had to call a manager. My baby son , never got his food and my daughter boneless wings was over cooked fries was burnt. I'm only writing this review because this is the second time I visited this establishment and it was the same. First of all, it took nearly 45 minutes to get our food. People who were sat after us got their food before us. And the place was even packed. My wife's Sangria was watered down. Her rice was under cooker for the second time. Her fresh spinach wasn't fresh. I don't mean to come off as a complainer but I've written good reviews before. This place just didn't deserve one as far as I'm concerned. The waiter did come and tell us that two of their cooks had just quit, but that's no excuse, really. One more thing, our waiter was a little inattentive. I tried to flag him down three times before I got my tea refilled while waiting for our food. Sorry Applebee's, but you need some improvement before we'll visit you again. read more

The absolute worst service I have EVER experienced. They weren't busy, tons of empty tables and we waited 30 minutes with noone coming to our table. We had to go find someone. Ten minutes later we finally put our orders in. 20 mins later we finally got some of our drinks and the syrup was setting at the bottom of all our glasses, no straws. We stopped a manager who finally showed fave and instead if stepping in she stood around 5 mins then disappeared another 30 mins. We finally got our food 1 hr and 20 mins after arrival. Noone seated at bar yet the waitress was making her own drinks. Bartender disappeared 20 mins at a time. I have never seen such a poorly run restaurant and won't be back again. We used to frequent but this place is scratched from our list for good! There were no employees to be seen half the time. Table next to us had the same issues. Get a new manager. She was lazy and obviously could care less what was going on. Complete mess, no organization and they barely had 8 tables of customers. read more

My experience at Applebee's was the strangest, worst experience. First, our server was the bartender and she was more worried about the bar rather than her tables. The hostess brought 3 out of 6 of our drinks, holding them in his arms against his shirt which is not sanitary. Then, the manager (I assume) brought the other 3 drinks 10 minutes later. We ordered lunches (wraps, salad, soups, apps). It took over a hour. 3 out of 6 of our meals came out. The other 3 didn't come out for another 20 minutes... my family was done eating before some of us got our food. We had to ask for silverware after we got our food. The server just dropped it on our table soaking wet. The napkins with it were all wet now. Our drinks were never refilled. No one came to check up on us after we were served so we paid on the little machine and left. read more

Horrible customer service, only good service I received was from the serve , I was immediately seated, sat and waited for the server to come when he came I was undecided on what to order so I just ordered drinks. Waited for drinks to come for 20 minutes, server kept walking by without asking if anything was okay, I was fed up and spoke up about my drinks , he responded he had forgotten and then proceeded to pick my drinks up from the bar that were watered down.. after he brought my drinks to the table he walked away before I could say we were ready to order, after taking orders from the table behind me he comes and takes my order. While waiting the server went to the next table and took their order. They previous table had received their food before my table and I've ordered before them.. other staff came to my table with the food that was ordered and the food was no longer hot. I was so unsatisfied and just wanted to leave. Worst customer service ever. read more

Good food. Not the best. Had a weird experience with the server. We (3 people) were seated first and he tended to other patrons, who got there after us. Dined on a Saturday night, very busy but not yet on a wait. Manager assisted the hosts greeting, seating and helped clear tables. Our server was outstanding, Cam w., he checked on us frequently and overall the service was excellent. We ordered 2 for 20, entrees and appetizer were cooked perfect and taste was great. We also ordered draft beer and a signature cocktail, both excellent. The service from the Manager and server was excellent, food was great and we will be back. Thank you for a great night! read more

As far as Applebee's is concerned. I would rate this a 5 star Applebee's, but of course being Applebee's I would have to rate this as a 4 star overall. The wait staff here were all very patient and helpful. The dietary considerations of my dinner group tonight demanded special handling and care. Our waitress took all our questions in stride and got answers to our questions when she didn't know the answer. Our food was served promptly and arrived hot, which is half the battle. Our party of 8 including tip was only $93. The 18% gratutity was added due to the size of our party but we gave a little bit more to our very attentive and pleasant waitress. Kudos to Applebee's for having menus regarding special dietary concerns such as peanut allergies, wheat allergies, glutein allergies, etc. However, this information wasn't readily available at the restaurant level. I had to go on my phone and get the information off the internet. It shouldn't be too hard to have special symbols right next to the menu items. Other than that, it was a very nice dining experience, especially after a 400 mile drive. read more

This Applebees appeared very tidy, and my friend and I were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waitress wasn't as friendly or helpful as we expected...my friend has severe food allergies and when we questioned our waitress about items on the menu, she was flustered and not very helpful. ..she also didn't go ask the chef to be certain. For our lunch, my friend and I tried the appetizer deal, 3 for $13; this was actually a good deal. Getting one of those appetizers alone would have costed around $8. We got the pretzel and beer cheese dip, spinach and artichoke dip, and the sriracha shrimp. All were pretty good. For my main dish, I had a classic burger. I was under the impression that when you go to an actual restaurant and order a burger, it would include lettuce and tomatoes and maybe onions and mayo. Nope. Paid $7 for literally a hunk of meat with cheese on a bun. It didn't seem fresh either. ..tasted like carnival food that was frozen and reheated. I was extremely disappointed. On top of that I ordered onion rings in place of the fries. ..and they were really dry and overcooked. This isn't the normal Applebees I usually go to, which is for a good reason. I won't be back because clearly this one at least is still charging the same amounts for low quality entrees. The only saving grace was the appetizer. read more

I had horrible service Saturday night ..... It was so bad that I had to call the general manager today..... The manager on duty (Cornell) I think ! Saturday did an ok job of trying to make the situation right, but in so many ways my service could have been better... The server Ashley had an attitude the minute I sat down at the table..she took our drink orders and our food order.. ( keep in mind she took out whole order) The manager came over and said he was phasing her out.... I then asked what the problem was he said she was leaving but she then took two tables after us I Called the manager to the table and asked him why, but he couldn't come up with an answer fast enough ??? I waited 45 minutes..... And noticed the table that came in after us got their appetizers keep in mind we gave Ashley our order and apparently she forgot to put it in but had a sleek on her face as though she forgot.... Go figure right.... Manager came over and said he would personally put our order in good guy!..... And then our new server had a family emergency had to leave, so he said that he would take over our table from then on.... What a night right? It was a horrible dining experience..... Went to the Dover Delaware location on 11-16-15 for supper. We were seated as soon as we walked in the door however that is when the service fell apart. Had 4 members of the wait staff walk by the table not one of them stopped. One girl even delivered a drink order to the table right next to us still no service not even for drinks after 6 mins of this I left. There was no excuse for the the waiter not to show up they weren't even busy. So we went the the Camden Applebee's and received excellent service even though this location had more customers. read more

I stopped in with my son for an early dinner. We were seated immediately. We waited at least 20 minutes for our server. It was not busy, there were a lot of empty tables. Another server came by and said our server would be right out. If my son wasn't so hungry I would have left but I stayed. Approximately 10 minutes later our server came to our table. There was no apology for the wait. She took our drink orders and asked if we needed extra time for our dinner order... In my head I was like "Lady you're kidding right?" I told her we were ready to order. I ordered soup and the cheese potatoes, no bacon. My son ordered Boneless wings and fries. After another 25 minutes our meals came out. When I touched my bowl I could feel stuff all over the outside of it like it wasn't washed. I looked at it and it definitely was dirty. The plate the bowl was rested on was dirty too. I examined my potatoes and they looked fine. So I took a bite. They weren't even hot. I was not pleased at all. My son's meal was fine. I waited for the waitress and told her about my meal. She apologized and stated she would notify the Manager and see if he would take it off of my bill. When my son finished eating she brought the bill minus my half of the meal and said we could use the table top device to check out. Let me say thing the device was just as dirty as the outside of the soup bowl! I was ready to go. I paid the bill and left. The manager didn't even come to our table before we left. Which is customary for Applebee's. I never go to a chain restaurant expecting top notch service but come on! I promise this will be the last time I patronize the Applebee's in Dover Delaware. The worst service ive ever had in my life. So im from New Jersey and we came down here to take my little brother to college. So we decided to go to Applebee's to enjoy a NICE MEAL AND EXPERIENCE before saying our goodbyes. As soon as we walk in it was chaos, theres no host i see one lady with browne hair running around trying to clean a table for a big party it makes no sense why they dont have bussers? And only have one host. So she finally comes to the front and says whos first it was three more plus the big party the guy before us tells her hes next she totally ignores him and takes menus and sits the party thats almost 10 MINUTES TO GET SEATED. She comes back and sits him im already in a bad mood im pregnant and cranky and hungry but i still have a smile on my face and she just looked at me in a very rude way at that point my blood was already boiling i wanted to sit at a table but we thought sitting at the bar would be faster. So we sat at the bar and i told my boyfriend to order me a water that i was going to the bathroom i even took my time and when i came back he still wasnt there it looked like he was taking the bar all by himself. We waited another 5 minutes he finally comes and tells us could he see ID, Its 4 of us and only one is 17 we didnt know there was a law about underage not being able to sit at the bar he wasnt gonna drink but thats fine we understood so i asked him if we could sit at the empty table i had seen. HE TELLS ME IN A RUDE WAY WE HAVE TO GO BACK THE FRONT SO I COULD BE SEATED!!!!!!!!!!! I look over and the host isnt even there the host is taking plates off the table at that point i had it i had to tell my boyfriend and my friends we have to leave i was NOT going to wait another 10 minutes probably more to be seated. I am a server too i know how restaurants run. Every restaurant has its issues but really?? dont have 1 bartender taking the bartop and taking the bar tables by himself if he cant handle it. Dont put 1 host in the front if you guys dont have busser's to clean tables that was totally unprofessional.
