Wanted a late meal and there were few places open. I grabbed the New Orleans Steak extra onions and mushrooms. The only problem is it's hard for them to get a rare temperature on their extra thin steaks. Love the butter sauce they cover the potatoes, vegetables and steak in. Also Applebee's lack bread on their menu unless the pasta is ordered. Anyway, I sat at the end of the bar at "Club Applebee's" and made my order with the bartender. Unfortunately everyone was grieving the untimely death of a friend. I remember her from previous visits and dropped cash in the displayed jar in her memory. Even though I say I no longer drink, there's one exception to that rule. Applebee's Top Shelf Margarita was and still is my favorite cocktail. Once I was told the kitchen was running behind because of lack of experience line cooks, that was enough for me to have a drink as I waited and people watch. The music was thumping like no other Applebee's I've visited in any state! To my pleasure it was a great jazz channel. Some of the same regulars were in the same stools they were in the last time I was there years ago. By the time I returned from the facilities a chilled salt rimmed glass with olives was next to my shaker of margarita. I wish I knew their recipe because for all my efforts I can't make a margarita as great as Applebee's! This one didn't disappoint my memories either. Kudus to the bartender. I would suggest a sociologist PH.D candidate sit at that bar to investigate the mating ritual of that crowd. I have enjoyed watching so much a few times, my order got cold and I switched to ice tea in my shaker. Anyway, I enjoyed my order from Club Applebees. The steak was more Med than Rare as I ordered. The potatoes were crispy and full of the butter sauce at the same time. For once I received the extra onions and mushrooms I paid for and requested. They accidentally put someone else's salad in my bag even though it had extra blue cheese dressing that I couldn't use because I really dislike it. My order was perfect to enjoy with my feet up as I watched Top Chef. The people watching didn't disappoint nor did the music bother me. All in it was a great experience one can't get at any other Club Applebees because all other stores are just restaurants instead of a local joint like that one. If I was younger, was really a drinker and not concerned about getting a DUI, I might be a regular plopped on a bar stool being watched instead of the watcher. read more

The service upon entering was great! The hostess was loud and engaging, very unexpected. Seating was readily available. I went in tonight to watch the game with friends. It was loud off of course a lot of conversations happening everywhere. However the manager Will decided to approach and commence to yelling directly in my face as if I were a child. He was very disrespectful to me and my friends. I tried to explain to him whatever he heard did not come from my section he would not allow me to speak yelling over me. Other workers were so embarrassed by his behavior they apologized to me and my friends on his behalf. I will not be returning to this location. Gave this place another chance after the first encounter when it opened ended not good when me and a buddy from work ate there. Big mistake!! Its October the 7th at 9:45 p.m. when I arrived. I was coaxed to sitting at the bar because it was just me, so I did. After waiting ten minutes on a tea I finally got to place a order. I was direct on the order because the bar tender was waiting on anybody else that she could, including, I take it a friend which she declared in front of everyone, Girl I'm drunk, before asking me what I finally wanted. So I was to the pointed said Neighborhood burger no onions. Thirty minutes later it arrived, first look it was almost an inch away from the edge of the bun all the way around, talk about false advertisement, then after removing the bun I see that the patty on top is just half of a patty. I called her down for where she was talking to her friend which stated earlier she was drunk where another individual was standing with them as well. When she got there I showed it to her and she said, that's kinda small let get that and you keep the fries where at least you have something to eat. I said no just ring me up for the tea. I then asked who owned them and she said she didn't know but I could ask the manager which happened to be the other individual that was talking to the young lady that declared earlier she was drunk. I then asked him and he told me his regional manager was in the back at 10:30 at night, HMMM, and I could tell him and I said what's your name and said Malcolm, I said I'll just get in touch with Applebees and go on. So I paid $3.29 for a tea that she, I'm sure, put install styrofoam cup which held half of the glass. Talk about customer service. Wait staff was good but that's about it. Music was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you. Steak was tough and kind of bland and the salad, which consisted of some sour lettuce, tomato and cucumber that was diced in tiny pieces, was flavorless and the Italian dressing was bad. The whole thing was sour. Again this was not a reflection on the servers, or maybe even the cooks. If you're given crap from the beginning no cook could have improved it. Had my daughters bday dinner here for convenience and the hope that the food and menu would be better here. Should of went some where else and fought traffic. The appetizers was the saving grace. The Sriracha Shrimp, Boneless Wings, and Spinach Artichoke Dip was delicious. My the bday girl ordered the Cedar Salmon and it was very well done there was no moisture in the fish. Her broccoli was bland and under cooked and she's obsessed with broccoli and refused to eat it. My baby girl loved her Chicken Mac and Mozzarella Sticks I had the 2/$25 with my gf and got the Steak w/ Green Beans and Sweet Potato Mash. That steak was the worst driest cut of meat ever. The sweet potatoes were just ok and once I got my green beans there was dead and covered in bacon and nothing was garlicky about them as advertised. I should've kept that mound of regular mound of garlic mashed potato they gave me. My husband and I go to the Trussville Alabama location twice a week. For 3 years we've watched the food and service go down. Mostly due to Covid, very short handed. The employees there are very hard working. Management however is the worst I've seen at any restaurants. During past 3 years we've seen about 4 managers come and go. Tonight 8/6/2021, we had our worst experience. There's dishes piled up everywhere. Management was outstanding smoking. Most of the time we were there. We also witnessed him wearing his mask under his neck. We ask about it. He snapped at us for asking so we took a picture. He ( Deric Ragland) made a scene. Came in our face showing us his name tag and that if we were reporting him make sure to spell his name correctly. Several customers left. We finished up paid our bill and left. There was another customer at the bar that had the same reaction to my meal, that didn't eat their raw foul tasting shrimp. We didn't like our Mexican dish so were made to feel like we were wrong for refusing to eat half frozen and still cold "cooked" fishy (smelling and tasting) seafood by the bartender that was more concerned about washing glasses than attempting to please us. It took her several minutes to even acknowledge me even though I was sitting in front of the sinks. Silly me was the one that requested she take my food order and sitting there waiting for too long. Had I ordered my usual meal I would be so happy I may not even had included the other disappointing ticks but I feel like I just gave away good money and got nothing in return. She didn't even have a top to the shaken to properly mix my Perfect Margarita. She poured the once into another cup and called it a night. I no longer will be paranoid about driving after watching the only reason I go to Club Applebees. There's only a shot of tequila in the 12 ox drink. My wife and I are an interracial couple and we went there on 5/20/19 because our daughter gave her a gift card for mother's day. The first waitress that we had seemed to have a problem with us. She just kept walking past us and waiting on people that came after us. Another waitress seemed to notice and said something to a manager who then came and waited on us. My food was pretty good but my wife's was overcooked chicken and dried out potatoes. She's the only reason we stayed since it was her gift it was her call. We've been married 19 years and eat out a lot. My wife never complains and always has focused more on what was good but this day she finally complained. Visited w/the Fam on Sat night a couple hrs before closing. Was a 30min wait. About 50% capacity for customers and COVID measures were enforced. While standing outside chatting we saw a waitress thru the window slip and fall. Appeared to have injured ankle or foot. When we were seated it took a while for drinks and order to come. Our waitress (Shelby) did a super job given they were short personnel. The manager was visiting tables and apologizing for any delays. He offered discounts to many that were present in an effort to balance things. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry and they were more than appreciative. Overall, good food and good atmosphere. I visit this restaurant recently and didn't have a pleasant food experience. When I arrive the host was very friendly and so was my waiter. The employees seem to be following the COVID-19 restrictions by wearing a mask and cleaning areas of the restaurant. I ordered the quesadilla burger, fries and an alcohol beverage. It took my order over 45 minutes to arrive and it wasn't crowded at all. When my food arrive they give me a kid's portion of fries that were not hot and my burger was warm. I told my waiter how disappointed I was about the long wait on my food and she politely spoke with her manager and he told me my order will be fix over and they would bring me out an appetizer for my wait and my meal was on the house. Stopped in for bite to eat with a rather large party today. There was the expected lunch hour delay and due to having a large part of about 14 it was expected to have a 15 minute delay. The server was moderately attentive in when taking out order but rather disinterested in the ordering process and mildly annoyed. Once the food came out, it was warm, not hot. The individuals in our party that ordered later received their orders first which I suspect was because the orders were received out of order. I hope in the future the staff and food is to a higher standard if I happen to frequent this location again.
