I, again, have nothing but rave reviews for this location. I was, again, having issues with my MacBook (my backlight was not working and would shut off randomly, and very often). So I brought it in. The guy working said it was my inverter cable and inverter board. So, plus parts and labor, an easy 90 bucks (which was a lot less than I was expecting based on what I had read online). So I get my computer back right before I leave for vacation only to find that the problem persists. A bit frustrating, I'm not going to lie. So I bring it in again. Since I had the paperwork proving a previous (seemingly unfixed) repair, I was told I could have it shipped out for free. Now, those of you who don't know what that means, I'll tell you. Basically, you can pay $280 dollars (a flat rate, $180 for parts, $100 for labor), and they'll ship it to their AppleCare facility and fix anything (and I mean anything) that's wrong with it for that flat rate (which is nice if you need say, a new screen or something). I didn't realize just how great a deal getting all this for free was until I got my computer back and read the paperwork. Basically, for the $90 of my original repair, I got a new hard drive (they replaced my 120 GB with a 160 GB), they replaced a bunch of cords, replaced my top cover (so I basically got new keys and such) and my boyfriend is convinced I got a new screen. There was probably a bunch else, but I don't remember what. I just know that I basically got a new computer, a new MacBook, for $90. Pretty cool. read more

Went to the store to purchase a Facebook air. Knew exactly what I wanted and just wanted to buy. Followed the directions on the iPad to have a specialist come over... now I am 7th in line after a bunch of schmuck asking if they can download angry birds on an iPad or asking the difference between a iPhone and iPad. After asking two people if we could just buy something, we were told to either wait or go get something to eat and come back later. Being a devout Apple fan, I've been to my fair share of Apple stores. Luckily, the one closest to my home is possibly the best I've been to. Located right on main street in Reston town center, this Apple store is much the same as (most of) the others: cement floors, light oak tables, and brushed aluminum walls. Unless you live in Manhattan, Los Angeles, Cupertino, or near one of the other "signature stores," you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The way to judge each Apple store in relation to the others, then, is through it's quality of customer service. Every time I've made an appointment at the genius bar (God I hate saying that...), my problems have been cleared up right away. Most recently, my iPhone's iOS partition became corrupted and was draining battery at more than twice the regular rate. In under 15 minutes, my phone was fixed and ready to go. This experience is largely representative of all my experiences there, with just a few exceptions. On a select number of visits, I've run into employees with some attitude problems. One seemed unwilling to look me in the face, another was checking his phone throughout the entirety of our interaction, and another time I had a woman who was flat out rude. Experiences like these mar what is otherwise a solid Apple Store location. Teach those three employees some manners, along with any others like them, and this would be a perfect store. read more

For years me and my wife and obviously many others, have been throwing money at apple to the point where apple apparently feels they no longer have to provide quality products and services. People stand in line for days to discard hundreds of dollars, so they became careless, selfish and mediocre. Our first Apple products were great. As the years went by, it appears we all were easily sucked in for one of the most expensive product lines of crap. Our last few experiences with Apple products and customer service were so bad that I have decided to stop buying Apple products. Stop dying to give them money before their stuff is even available! Let it get dust on the shelf and maybe they'll eventually produce a dependable product! Everything started with my phone having issues with my voicemail. As I use my cell for business in a daily basis, I would receive calls, and many times voicemails. Every time I would want to listen to my voicemail the phone will freeze, and I would have to restart it with the power button. I've been dealing with endless calls and customer service iddeaots and unreliable AppleStore Appointments, for about a year, until I had to switch to 8Plus. The issue was with 7Plus...that 7Plus was replaced few times, couple times because of the voicemail issue and once because the screen failed. Everytime I had to pay a fee. Whyyy? Why paying fees when the damn phone screen fails after a few days the phone has been replaced??? Then I made a purchase online for Cyber Monday, suposebly there was a $100 discount stated clearly on the website, to find out after I made the purchase that the $100 was, in fact, an extra purchase for $100 Apple Gift Card. What a load crap!!! After pouring thousands every year in Apple products, to waste a couple other days of my life to clarify and fight for the $100 discount it's just above and beyound. I hope that $100 will freacking make them a lot richer. And now, my wife's watch touchscreen just came off, out of the blue the $900 freacking watch failed after just a year. My wife is on her way to the Apple store to get a watch replacement. Obviously, I expect like $150 or $200 fee....why, why pay a damn fee when ur products keep failing?!!! I am done!!! I will switch and turn away from Apple and I will make sure all my friends and family will hear my story and I shall do my best to convince them to turn away from these crooks!!!! The employees are polite, the service excellent, and the products elegant. You pay a little more, but Apple just works. I was back at Apple to pick up my iPhone 7. After waiting in line for about an hour and finally getting my phone, the staff proceeded to help me set it up. Except I had a bit of a tricky situation after being forced to open a new Apple ID account 2 years ago when I got my iPhone 6. In spite of how busy they were, the staff were helpful and patient as they checked in on how I was doing every now and then as they got the helpdesk to reset my old Apple ID, and while I tried to sync the old phone to icloud (I was never able to do that due to some unknown errors) and then tried to transfer data to the new phone. Syncing my phone took so long as it was close to full 128GB capacity, it was like watching grass grow. After getting the phone to some level of functionality, they told me that I could pop by again on a regular day to get more issues ironed out if I face any problems with the new phone. Coming from Singapore, this is a breath of fresh air since we'd never had an Apple Store (only resellers) but that's going to change with the new one opening up. I have been to this Apple store about four or five times with my wife. Her computer has had a few unfortunate accidents, all of which they have fixed quickly, and professionally, and some of which they fixed for free (even though they weren't covered by the warranty). I did purchase a printer here once. I've never had to wait very long to ask questions or purchase anything, and I'm always greeted in a friendly manner when I walk in. I have no problems with this Apple store, and recommend visiting if you have any interest in Apple products, or want to learn more about them. read more

I went there today to buy a new phone. One of the guys told me there is a 20 minutes wait. I told him I just want to buy it and will not need any other service. He said you still need to wait. Then I asked if they text to notify when ready. He said no and then added "you can go buy it somewhere else if you want." Like I did not know that! That comment was not necessary and did not help me at all. When it was my turn finally, the guy just took my order, and someone else brought 2 minutes later and I was out of there. I used to go to the (original) Apple Store in Tysons and always got good service. Recently Apple opened a store in Reston Town Center, which is much closer to my home and office, so I gave it a shot hoping the service would be as good as Tysons. I can say, in all honesty, it meets or exceeds Tysons. Good selection of accessories. Helpful and friendly staff. My repair was promised for the next day but I got a call that same night telling me it was ready. And not only had they fixed the problem i brought it in for but had also proactively (and for free) replaced the top of the laptop because they noticed it was starting to develop some small stress cracks. They've also helped me through some thorny iPhone config issues when we switched numbers to a different iPhone. And they replaced the glass on son's iPhone on the spot. The free seminars are great. I purchased a Mac Book Pro online last year and opted to get Apple's One to One service. Basically - by appointment concierge assistance setting up your laptop, iPad, iPhone, whatever... for one year. I've used the service four times, three of those at the Reston Apple Store. Of those four experiences, three have been a complete waste of time and at least two appointments failed to resolve my issues. I will give you that the first disappointing appointment was at the Tysons Mall location. The second bad experience was a One to One appointment at the Reston store, during which I wanted to sync Exchange and Google calendars on my iPhone, as well as streamline my contacts. Apparently 100$ a year gets you ... someone googling the answers while sitting next to you. I'm pretty sure I didn't need to spend my own money to do that. The third negative experience is actually happening right now. I made two appointments for 0900 this morning to both have my iPhone replaced - microphone issue - and again address the calendar and contact sync issues. Despite showing the staff my confirmation emails of my appointments, they were unable to find any record of them and rescheduled my first appointment (for the Genius Bar) for 45mn later. I'm not available 45mn later. They completely blew off the fact that I had made a One to One appointment. I don't live in Reston. I got on the Toll Road to come here. I rescheduled my work day. Update: Oh. Now I've just been told they don't even have the replacement phone in stock - despite my appointment request spelling out my need for one - and I'll have to come back another day. I love my Mac Book Pro. I hate my iPhone. And I really, really, really hate my Apple service. read more

I was able to schedule appointment within two hours from the time I called, qand I had two devices that needed to be fixed. I was not looking forward to my trip in there because it seemed like such a headache. Luckily I was very pleasantly surprised. Yanni and Adam took care of me and they were both excellent people. Both of them were able to fix my issues and I left a very satisfied customer. I spent more time with Yanni (he had the bigger problem to solve) and I can't say enough about what a great guy he was. Is there ever a good reason to go to the apple store? Not for me. Every time I go it's either to blow too much money on an electronic or to get previously mentioned electronic fixed. This trip involved a cracked iphone screen. They swapped out my whole phone which was rad because it's been acting testy, shutting off for no reason whatsoever lately. But they were def 20 minutes behind for my appointment. AND while i can't fault them for this, my lil genius told me that my new iphone would still be running ios5, however, it was not. i guess that makes sense, because i'm sure every person duped into downloading the ios6 software would willingly smash their phones and pay $49 bucks for a new phone just to get google maps back. they guy who was helping me ended up helping me as he finished up helping another customer. my brother lives near the town center and says this store is always packed. you would think they'd hire some more geniuses for this location, but i do appreciate him working with me and the other guy at the same time. he was super friendly and his customer service was on point. didn't try to bs or up sell me, so that's a good thing. i can't say "i won't be back" because i still have 1 1/2 on this contract and i break phones like there's no tomorrow. i'm just glad they finally cover water damage and cracked screens. read more

Always a great experience for me. Apple requires appointments for most transactions, but I cannot argue with the results. I was again thoroughly satisfied with my latest experience. My iPhone would not turn on so I made a walk-in appointment. I was assigned to Ben Cobb at the Apple Store who went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. It turned out that my iPhone had taken water damage while in my pocket during the severe storms this past weekend. It was beyond repair so I was prepared for the worst. All I can tell you is that I'm a happy customer and I'm back on the "grid" with a working iPhone. If it were up to me, I'd promote Ben to management as soon as possible. As far as Apple stores go and I've been to a few this is one of the better ones in the area. Mind you, if you're coming around the holiday season expect larger crowds than normal and a little bit of a wait even if you're there to purchase. I've been dragging my feet on getting a new Mac even though the one I've had since at least 2007ish has been a dying a slow death. Armed with my discount through work, and a few apple gift cards, and my husband wanting to get me a new computer for Christmas we decided to come and finally do it. We had about a 10 minute wait which gave me the opportunity to narrow down what I wanted. I explained to the sales guy my current Mac issues and we discussed the migration process although he warned me that some of the older macs have larger storage than some of the newer ones. I foolishly tell him oh I mainly use my mac for pics, and storing my music and I've got stuff backed up to a hard drive so should be an issue. Well, I was totally wrong as when I finally tried to set the new computer up and migrate I was told that I basically have too much stuff and not enough storage. I called the 800 apple number to talk to tech support and unfortunately they really weren't helpful as basically it boils down to a storage issue with the new computer. Clearly some responsibility lies with me and not researching the space I have on the old mac before buying a new one. So we'll be back later to return the computer and get one with more storage, even if I have to get it online and have it shipped to the store. UUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! UPDATE: Well sadly my visit yesterday was a total fail. The store only seems to stock standard options in the computer I want, in order to get more memory basically I'd have to order online. There was a further issue with trying to order the computer online and then trying to use their Apple rewards credit card (as there was special financing that we were trying to take advantage of). Unfortunately there was an issue with transferring the information when trying to order and the staff there was really of no help in this area so I was out of luck. I ended up leaving the store incredibly frustrated, with no computer ordered, and the gift apple cards I used for original purchase my were credited back to my husbands credit card. read more

Went there this past weekend to buy a cord and charger for my iPad Pro. The young lady tried to sell me the wrong cord three different times. I told what year and model and that I needed the usb-c adapter. She then proceeded to ask me if i was sure if I knew the cord I needed. I told her the year model of the product. Once again tried to sell me thunder bolt connecter , lighting connecter, a usb connecter. Finally I told her to leave me alone. Probably owned close to 30 Apple products since the original iPhone came out. I know what I was looking for and what I was talking about. The geniuses on the floor continued to ask my wife if she need help despite the fact she said "no thank you" with in ear shot of the next genius to ask for help. But I find the crowd by the door a bit intimidating and unctuous. Every time I go in the store I get this feeling that all the good will and glad handing is actually very fake. Reston's location looks no different on the inside than Clarendon's, which looks no different than Denver's, which looks no different than Frankfurt's, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on. RIP, Mr. Jobs. Now with that out of the way, allow me to vent about the Nano and Shuffle....which WERE my two favorite portable music devices. Unlike many people, I don't use a portable device to watch the latest blockbuster or an episode of [insert your hip TV show name here]. I buy them to listen to a long forgotten art form known as music. Apple keeps redesigning both the Shuffle and Nano. The Nano is now all touch-screen interface. The cool, easy to use dial has been replaced. I'm not a fan of touch screens and will probably never be, until I'm forced to use them. And the Shuffle is so small now that you could drop it while jogging and never find it again (which is probably their intent---$$$$) Back to the store: Recession? What recession? There are days when there are more employees here than customers, and they're friendly and efficient, but I'm simply not a fan of the set up here. The European model may work for Europe, where people are still civil to one another. But not in hyper-stressed Northern VA. The best Apple store IMHO is Crutchfield. But for a quick cable or set of speakers, this place will do. read more

This place does the best it can for the area it is in. Unfortunately we have a higher volume of ethnic people in this surrounding area and it sometimes causes a challenge for employees to resolve issues or make sales quickly. I've seen the language barrier cause issues but in the end, it is what it is. Considering that this one store serves a majority of the north/west part of Virginia, it does well. The location is sufficient, the store space is rather small but it gets the job done. read more

This location is pretty much always quite busy, but that's to be expected at an Apple Store however, every time I've been in, from device service to new gadget information, the staff has been super helpful and very, very knowledgable. This is a great Apple Store and located in a really easy location if you're in or around the Reston Town Center area. Like any Apple store, they are almost always packed to the brim with customers touching devices and asking questions. If anything, this only demonstrates how amazing of products this company builds. Despite the crowds, they are generally staffed with plenty of knowledgeable individuals to answer all of your Apple questions. Additionally, if you go through the booking process, it's rather easy to have repairs done to your electronics here. The only fault I find is that I rarely ever buy things from an Apple Store. They tend to be the most knowledgeable so I start my search there but I usually will buy my Apple products elsewhere because it's easy to find them cheaper than here. There's probably a business agreement / strategy for this (I mean, if they sell an Apple product at a different store then they still are selling an Apple product), but I just find that it can usually be the worst place to buy from unless you have an old trade-in. Otherwise, this place is amazing, pristine clean, and has some extremely helpful employees. read more

Once I entered the store several people configured on me that told me I could not enter the store. I was told the store was closing in 15 min and I needed an appointment. This is for the apple store in Tysons Corner, Virginia (just couldn't find that store on yelp). But I had made an appointment in the store when I was there in November, for a date in December, my December date rolls around and when I arrive Apple tells me I don't have one. (WHAT). Apple doesn't send email confirmations so there was no way to verify it was their fault. They just made me wait. Then continued to tell me I would have to pick up my phone at 9pm and they couldn't even replace my phone battery right away. TERRIBLE customer service. I have never experienced a worse group in my life. Rude, not helpful and not considerate of the customer. Very disappointed in the Tysons Corner Virginia Apple store customer service. Spread the word that they are TERRIBLE. Save yourself the hassle and avoid that Apple at all costs. This isn't the first time that store has disappointed me either. read more
