Don't fall for this tempting Apple. I brought my 2 1/2 year young MacBook Air, 2100 USD worth, in as it did not boot correctly after a software update. The "expert" at the Genius Bar only suggested to have it shipped off for repair, for 450 USD! Not only was my laptop returned to me in bad shape, they also kept my original motherboard and Touch ID, and replaced them with refurbished parts, something I did neither authorize nor was it necessary. Do you buy a new Porsche, just to pay for a repair after a total engine failure after only 2 1/2 years and it is obvious that your Porsche is a lemon? I do not think so. Same with Apple: If it turns out that you sold a worm-eaten Apple to your customer, you better offer a replacement free of charge, because you know that your reputation is on the line. Customers buy Apple, because they are willing to spend more money for a great product that lasts. Yet, Apple does not live up to this promise, a lot of glitz, but nothing but greed for profit behind it. Buy yourself a Dell, HP or Toshiba for less money, it will last longer, I promise you. And beware of the "Genius Bar". read more

Very happy with this store. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They do a good job of moving people through while still giving personal attention. The prices are the same everywhere so great service is important. I've purchased items at four different Apple Stores and this one is the best among them by far. They extended the 14 day refund for me when the iPad Air came out three weeks after I bought an older iPad version. Customer service wasn't as good as my first two visits but I'm very happy I was able to exchange for the iPad Air. read more

It's an Apple Store. In Georgetown. Pretentiousness overload!!! Seriously, it's just so gratuitously stylish and hip it hurts my eyes to look at. Not so hot on the substance side, however. It was a real pain trying to figure out who would give me some service, and a significant wait no matter what time I came. Despite everyone carrying around various iDevices, it's a confused operation. Ordered one item online, got a nice email confirmation, followed all the steps, when I got there they couldn't find it. Eventually they did, but it's a good thing I wasn't in a hurry. Then it took another half hour and a few trips to first find a sales associate and then buy something else; seemed like a pretty simple transaction but typing my name on the awkward keypad and waiting for items to be found was an annoyance. It's not that the people are bad, it's the irony that a company built on the idea of using technology to make life easier seems to be kind of inefficient, while they conspicuously stare their ipads and iphones trying to figure things out that seem simple. As a former specialty retail salesperson myself, I don't know why it should take two trips and an hour in the store when I already know what I want to buy. Of course, this being the Apple store, the selection is pretty straightforward on the electronics side (and complicated on the accessory side; I'd buy those online or elsewhere, if at all). There are a lot of devices for you to demo and check your email on. No deals to be found here, though this is a fine place to trade in old stuff for a credit or discount. Of course, you'll spend an hour in the store and thousands of hours using whatever admittedly useful and well-designed device you get, so the shopping experience isn't all that important, but it could be better. read more

I've come to this Apple Store a few times for iPhone related problems and have been pleased with the customer service. During my most recent visit, I wanted to replace my charging cord because it was no longer working. The person in the front greeted me nicely and directed me to someone who could assist me. I was in and out of the store within 20 minutes! Besides this, the huge size of the store makes it easy and fun to test out all of the Apple products. It's close proximity to M street makes it extremely hectic on weekends. I highly recommend coming in on weekdays! read more

I took my iPhone, still under warranty, to have my button fix. It took forever, even though I had an appointment. They told me to come back in a few hours. When I came back, which took them another 30 minutes to come out and told me that a few screw were missing, indicating that it was repaired elsewhere. I had no time or patience to argue with them, but the phone has never been repaired anywhere. Could it be a manufactured defect causing the problem??!!! Instead being open to the possibility, they rather blame the customers. Horrible service and customer interaction!!!! Do not come to this store!!'n read more

Came here as a walk in before the 5 o'clock crowd, which I highly recommend coming before unless you have an appointment because it gets really busy. Every apple worker is very friendly and super cooperative. The actual Apple Store is by far one of the biggest I've been to, very spacious even when it's busy. This is also the only Apple Store I've been to that has a bathroom I can use which is extremely clean! #SCORE It's also in the heart of downtown Georgetown, so if you need to kill time or a quick bite to eat then you have plenty of options in walking distance! read more

BRIGHTSTAR IS AN INCOMPETENT ORGANIZATION THAT APPLE AS AN ORGANIZATION NEEDS TO IMMEDIATELY REMOVE AS A RECOMMENDED TRADE IN VENDOR. On June 2nd, I sent my AppleWatch series 2 to them after being offered a $125.00 trade in value for my watch. I followed all proper packing instructions. After receipt of my watch, Brightstar rejected my watch due to it not lowering up for them. The watch was sent to them in excellent condition. The main reason I was trading in the watch was in support of my plan to upgrade to a newer AppleWatch. The watch was less than 3 years old. I contacted the customer service number to speak with them directly. This was a worthless experience since neither service representative had any information specific to the status of my watch. I finally told them to send back my watch. They stated that it should be returned within 3 to 5 business days. This did not happen. This entire ordeal, went from June 2nd until July 5th (They state below that it was June 27th when they mailed back the watch). When I received my watch on July 5th, I immediately placed it on my AppleWatch charger (my original charger that came with the watch). Guess what? The watch immediately charged and immediately paired back to a back up stilled stored for my Apple Watch account. That's the good news. The BAD news is the stupidity of this organization. As a consumer, I was without my watch for close to a month due to the stupidity of this organization. I will be passing on to any and all who ask me to NEVER use Brightstar for business. Hopefully I will have another means to trade in my watch in prep for a new one. This is not the way to go for that process. read more

I've been vacillating about joining the MAC and iPhone revolution for some time now, so I made a trip to the Apple Store to check out the goods for myself. The spacious store has stations set up on either side of the room, where you can try out the latest iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. There was at least three of each type of device on display, so I didn't have to wait in line to play around with any of them. Each time I thought of a question, there was a friendly employee within earshot who was willing and able to answer my question. The staff members gave me in-depth answers to the questions I asked. It was evident that they were knowledgeable about the products and were genuinely interested in providing excellent customer service. Best of all, they made no pushy sales pitches, which has always been my biggest turnoff when visiting other electronics stores. Clearly, the Apple store is not just your regular run-of-the-mill electronics retail store - it's an experience. While I didn't make a purchase during my initial visit, I can truly say that I was won over by the incredible products and service. I walked into the store a PC diehard and walked out a MAC lover. read more

Hard to be happy about spending $109 to get a cracked iPhone screen fixed but I was the least sad one could be after doing so at the Georgetown Apple Store. Made the appointment online (first appointment was 3 days out which isn't ideal but better than waiting in line for hours). I arrived and was promptly greeted by a host who directed me to a waiting area at the back of the store. The representative arrived and asked me to come back in an hour. I walked over the Baked and Wired, had a cappuccino and a cupcake, and by the time I was done lounging in the coffee shop, an hour had passed. I walked back to the store, was greeted by the same host, and directed to the back. I waited maybe five minutes, paid by credit card and was given what looked like a brand new iPhone! They were able to repair it without issue. Great service with a good online and in person experience. read more

Went in yesterday to pick up a new iPhone and all three associates that assisted me were super friendly, personable and customer friendly. Service at this location is far better than some of the others in the area like Pentagon City Mall. read more

Disappointed with my recent visit to this location. I had pretty good experiences here in the past (going back about 6 years), but the quality of service seems to have declined. The Apple products themselves are still good. But the customer experience at this store isn't what it used to be. Some of it might be related to COVID19 though I also sort of doubt that since it's now late summer 2021. Almost everyone in DC is vaccinated. Almost everyone was in there without a mask. So that's not it. There were 2 main issues. The first is what looked like a general lack of available staff. I was surprised when I had to spend some time and effort to find someone to "help" me, and by help I mean I wanted to simply purchase something, giving Apple about 100 dollars with a transaction that takes about 90 seconds. There didn't seem to be many employees around and the ones I saw were either busy or sort of oblivious. Some of them were borderline rude. Apple should consider spending more money to hire better people since customers are going in there and often spending over $1,000 on a phone and often over $2,000 or even $3,000 on a computer. Some customers go in and spend north of $4,000 depending on what they're purchasing. I'm also planning on buying a new Apple computer in the near future. One that costs above $1,700 . I might go to a different location. A certain quality of service is expected when products are so expensive. read more

Make an appointment online first (or over the phone) if you expect to get prompt service. This store didn't seem to be staffed well and the wait was several hours just to have an iPhone issue analyzed. I think they can do better than that. Hire more people, train them well, and have staff on hand to assist with the less complex issues. In a perfect world, customers would think to make an "appointment" hours or a day in advance, but life happens. read more

I don't blame this specific Apple Store or their employees for my dissatisfaction. In fact, I have lived in DC for over 10 years and have had many good experiences at the Georgetown Apple Store. My issue is the multiple hoops you must jump through to get in contact with the actual store. For example- last week I called in to see if the specific screen protector I needed was in stock. I was told (by an online sales rep) that yes, it was in stock and no, I didn't need an appointment to pick one up. Well, I travel 50 minutes via public transport to the store only to see an enormous line of people. Once there, I was told that the product I want is being recalled and I would have to book an appointed (for the next day) to shop at the store. It's not their fault, but it is SUPER frustrating. I've now booked an appointment at the Version store to get my issue fixed. It's not ideal, but at least I won't be lied to. read more

Cult of personality. Apple is trendy enough not to need strong customer service. I came for service on a bricked Apple TV and was helped in about 20 minutes. There were people everywhere though apparently few qualified to help me. I have a few Apple devices but do not buy into the cult. The store is probably great for the converted, which I am not. To me, it was light on service with more shine than substance in the products. read more

There was a lot of fuss when Apple unveiled this store, not only because of the storefront's huge windows and large glowing logo openly rebelled against Georgetown's strict building uniformity codes, but also because it was DC's first and only Apple store. Saving we Washingtonians from having to venture out into the 'burbs for all things Apple awards you your first star, Apple store. And being a true flagship store, wrestling with the neighborhood commission to redesign a beautiful store, featured in regional architecture blogs for its flow, energy, and natural lighting gives you your second. Allowing patrons to bring their bikes into a store in what is easily one of the least bike friendly parts of town gives you your third. While hiring knowledgable, courteous Washingtonians with an eye for customer service awards the fourth. And the fifth star?: apparently Apple stores are our nation's largest chain of internet cafes. Few things ease weary feet like visiting an Apple store and surfing the web on a computer you'll buy "when you get your money right." May as well give this five stars, folks, unless you want to trek out to Tyson's or Crystal City for an Apple store. read more

Yup, it's a standard Apple Store, but in Georgetown so it comes with extra dose of snobbishness on the side. The wait is terrible. Don't even try to ask any questions. No sales rep will ever be available. It's always crowded. In summer, people come in for the cool air. In winter, people cram in for warmth. If you are thinking of driving here, forget about it. The traffic barely moves in Georgetown. If I must buy things Apple, I would rather buy things online than to have to come into this store. read more

Surprised I was able to secure genius bar appointment by walking in on a busy Sunday night. This has never happened. The store is big and spacious, and the Genius Bar section is in the back of store, and you can secure appointment there. It was odd because when I looked online it said the Genius Bar was booked all week, yet they had appointments when I had just walked in. Although the Genius Bar offered some solutions to our defective Apple problems which required getting screens and displays replaced for the cost of $150-$259 for iPhone and Apple Watch (the watch screen apparently cost more to replace than iPhone phone screen and defective microphone which is crazy!), I was impressed that they were able to run diagnostic tests that was not available on their website to determine the issues with the phone. However, with the prices Apple is charging to replace screens and parts (minus their recent $29 replacement battery charges), I have determined I do not want to spend any more money at Apple due to their ridiculous repair prices which cost as much as trading in your phone for another overpriced item that may or may not be faulty after a year. This place gets a whole extra star for its clean bathroom!! To get there, go through the door at back of store, go down an elevator to basement. read more

Bottom line, we were ready to buy a new iPhone, but they let us walk out empty-handed simply because they didn't want to manually transfer our phone content to the new phone in-house. Here's the rundown: Entered immediately ready to buy an iPhone, full-price, no sales help needed. Easy sale. The only catch was it was for my older in-laws, who have zero familiarity with iTunes (which sucks anyway), iCloud, or how to do the iCloud back-up that Apple will mislead you to believe is the single solitary way to transfer content to a new phone. It isn't. They can do it. Further, my in-laws laptop was hundreds of miles away, so even if the preceding was no factor at all, they still couldn't DO a backup. "You can do it at home, then come back here for the trade-in." Did you not hear me say their laptop is hundreds of miles away? We aren't driving back here afterwards! "But you can buy more iCloud space for 99 cents." I know that. "That's a recurring monthly charge, right?" I asked. "Yes." Ok so it's not really 99 cents. "And it's automatically recurring after a year, right?" I ask. "Yes, but you can cancel." Folks, I came to buy a phone, an expensive one, not commit to repeat trips, not to have my in-laws sign up for a storage subscription they don't need, and not to have to cancel later. I'm sure Apple is perfectly fine with them forgetting to cancel later on, but I digress. I know they can transfer phone content in-house manually (especially for a half-empty 16 gb phone!) because they've done it for me several times on phone much larger. But they don't even bring up that option. So I asked. "We can but it takes a long time and we have a slow connection." It took 20 minutes for my chock full 64gb phone, so it's doubtful it would take even that long for a half-empty 16gb phone. "It would be faster for you to do it at home then come back here and do the trade-in." Did you hear me mention their laptop was hundreds of miles away? No, it would be faster for YOU if I went home and did the work and then came back later. I also noticed it was 45 minutes til closing time. So we left empty-handed. So disappointing. A sale doesn't get much easier than that. read more

I needed a new phone and had already researched online to know what model I wanted. I walked in and walked out with my new phone in 5 minutes. Service was quick, professional, and friendly and they didn't try to upsell me on more storage or a more expensive model. Great, easy experience! read more

I scheduled an appointment online specifying it was for a cracked screened. Took time off work to get to my appointment. Once I got there after waiting for a few minutes the "genius" told me they can't fix screens today because one of their equipments have been out of order. My Genius Bar assistant Vanessa did not even pretend to try to resolve the technical issue with my phone not charging and therefore not turning on. She didn't even try a force reset, simply stating that there had been water damage. She was extremely rude during the entire interaction, being dismissive when I asked if perhaps rice would help, just repeating there was nothing she could do for me. Lo and behold after cleaning out the charge port and letting it dry, it worked the next day. When I called Apple to complain, I learned Vanessa had lied on my report, stating that I was offered a deal of $299 for a replacement in exchange for the parts. I was offered no such thing. When I first walked in, Speaking with the rep at the door was unpleasant. There was no welcoming--rather, a blunt "what do you need." I was then told to find someone at a table and that they would help me. Once I got there, there was no welcoming, just awkwardness. About 10 min later, the person I was told to see told me "did you need help? If so, go to that table over there". I made it to the other table and the associate approached me to ask what I needed done today. I told him I'm here to pick up an online order. He gave me a big sigh and told me to go to another associate. Then, I went off on him. Nonetheless, I finally got my product and left. I just wished it didn't need to escalate to that. In conclusion, if you can go to another Apple store, I'd highly recommend you do that. Or just go in for quick trips. Dear Apple Store, I just took an hour and a half out of my day to pick this phone up. I spoke to not one but two of your employees trying to pick up this order. However, as we both stood between two long tables that had GENIUS BAR signage behind each, we, me and your employee, stood helplessly looking at useless screens. My screen was broken and thus useless. Her screen could do nothing for her even though she was holding my ID and I had given her my phone number and my Apple ID. Somewhere in that building was my replacement phone that I had ordered over a week ago. And yet both of us stood there looking at useless screens, and not one but two of your employees telling me they were powerless without my "Repair Number," which I obviously couldn't access since I didn't have a @#$@#$@# phone. I mean there we were a bunch of humans who for millenia could just exchange two things with zero problems face to face and yet thanks to Apple and what they have help wrought upon us . . . oh well nevermind . . . To add ridiculous insult to the ridiculous absurdity of it all was that my broken iPhone which I couldn't back up or access since I couldn't UNLOCK it since half the screen wouldn't work decided right then it was going to erase itself and reset . . . thus losing all the data I hadn't saved. So here's my proposal. You mail me the phone I ordered in person in your store and for which I returned but couldn't actually receive because of this ridiculous technology that makes idiots of us all as we stand under stupid signs that say GENIUS BAR, and I'll figure out how I will dump APPLE's ecosystem from my life forever and ever and ever . . . Of course, as I was about to send this, I see the address is "donotreply@email.apple.com." Seriously, you all suck. Thanks and Sincerely, read more

The young black guy across from me definitely felt embarrassed for having to show his ID, when he (and I) had just seen MANY other customers work with technicians without having to prove that the devices were his. I have been to this Apple Store multiple times before, and have usually experienced the less-than-average experience. Whether I had issues regarding my iphone or macbook, the staff, and at times the manager even, were very inflexible to work with. However, I felt the need to write this review after realizing the "genius" that helped me was completely incompetent to work there. I had issues with my macbook before, so after hearing it was the same issue, I just asked her to set up my OS, so I can at least use it for the time being. They had done this the last time, and it worked pretty well, and I was not ready to get a new laptop just yet. The lady (I clearly remember her name) said sure, and she started re-installing the software. After sitting there for about fifteen minutes, she suddenly aborted the installation and told me that my laptop did not have the capacity to handle the installation. It was weird, because there were no error messages that popped up, but she just shut the laptop and said, "You're options are to get a new laptop or send it to our repair for a couple hundred bucks." I'm no computer expert, but it felt like she did not want to put in the effort of installing the OS for me, and kept on telling me about the buying options. I said ok, and I came home, looked up instructions online, and managed to install the OS myself. I am writing on the laptop that the "genius" told me was gone for good. If the staff here are not willing to help out customers to the best of their ability, why work there? read more

I love Apple. I'm the girl playing on my MacBook air, answering my iPhone, reading a book on my iPad, and using a MacMini as my TV. I should own stock. Things I don't love? This Apple store. I won't be back, and not because of the products or the people that helped me out, but rather because of the manager. I would rather make the drive to Tyson's. I was an hour early to my Genius Bar appointment. All I needed was a new power block for my iPhone charger, and I had done this whole song-and-dance yesterday (including wandering around for two hours waiting for an appointment) and had gotten a new cable, only to get home and find out it was the block that was the problem. I understand how appointments work so I asked if it was possible to get it taken care of early. The girl with the iPad checking people in said sure, she could take care of me. Sweet. She wasn't able to, but got a Genius to process the appointment quickly even though I was an hour early, just to help me out. And all of you reading this are wondering "Why the 1-star? This sounds great!" It does. Until the manager walked up to the employee and started berating him in front of me for taking the request from iPad girl. "Why did you do this? There is no such thing as a quick swap out! You should listen to me when I tell you something." Then, add some glares directed my way. Thanks. Way to ruin a great experience. iPad girl, you rock. This place is worse than the DMV. Seriously. Since when do you need to make an appointment several days in advance for basic customer service? All of the people who work here are really unhelpful and always appear to be way too busy to even answer simple questions. My friend had a simple phone issue that needed to be looked at and she made an appointment, so I figured that I since there were no open appointment slots on the morning that my Mac Book Pro stopped working, I could just ask her 'Genius' to troubleshoot my laptop. During my friend's appointment, they didn't even really listen to her issue and immediately started to try and sell her random things and weren't relevant. I am appalled at the terrible customer service I experienced at this store, and the inexcusably rude way in which I was treated by their staff. After my phone broke (under AppleCare, meaning I should only simply need to pay $50 to replace it), I attempted to make an appointment online to bring it in to the store to replace it. When nothing was available online, I called the "store number"--which, of course, isn't actually the store, and is a generic Apple line--and after being disconnected three times by representatives who were unable to give me any information other than "make an appointment online" (Thanks Apple, never would have thought of that), I finally spoke with David in this store. After explaining the situation to David, he told me to make an appointment online (again--not like I hadn't tried!). He basically said that I'd need to come into the store in person JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT because they couldn't take "sensitive information" to make an appointment for me over the phone (don't see how my name, phone number and email is sensitive). He also clarified that there was no guarantee that an appointment would be available even if I went into the store to make one, and that a walk-in could be 2-3 hours before someone could help me. When I asked to speak with a manager, he told me no one was available but that they would call me back in under an hour. Hour and a half later, still no phone call. The fact that Apple, a TECHNOLOGY company, can't offer anything better than "come all the way into the store to make an appointment" is absurd, and I did not appreciate the way that David treated me over the phone. read more
