An Apple Store is an Apple Store....same products, same inventory, same selection.....And, never no damn sales!! What's up with that!? Set aside....the cool location, building with great architecture, over-sized mall, or historical landmark that the Apple store may occupy....they are generally all the same. BUTTTTTT, what sets this store apart from all the others is the customer experience, service, and knowledgeable technical staff. This particular Apple Store has become my go-to....personal flagship store in the DMV!! It's way less chaotic than other Apple stores in the city and metro accessible. I have busted my Apple virginity and brought my very first iPhone (3G) here over eight years ago. And, ever since, from this exact same store....I have added additional iPhone upgrade purchases, MacBook Pro, iPad, Apple Watch, service repairs, headphones and every accessory you can name to the list. Yes...I can admit....I have dranked the Apple "Kool-aid" and am in the entire Apple ecosystem at this point. No turning back now....LOL! BUTTTTTT, each time and with each purchase, the service and experience at this location has been consistently great. This location is one of the few stores that's never over-crowded and you don't have to endure long waits to be serviced. I mean at some of the locations in the DC area, you find yourself waiting longer than it takes for a Lauren Hill, Drake or Mariah Carey concert (Vegas show excluded) to start. And, if you have ever been to one of these performer's concerts....you will catch my drift!! Apple products rock, but by all means the pretentious "Rockstar / DIVA-vanglorious" attitude, rude service and treatment you get at some of the locations in DC (which I will not name here...ehhemmm...Pentagon City Mall)....are unbelievable and the worst. One thing I can say is that I have never had that customer experience here. It has always been prompt and I felt like my dollars spent here...and I do mean $$$$$ were appreciated some sort. Let's be real here, nothing in Apple is cheap or ever on sale. This visit, I came in for a iPhone cracked-screen repair. I was able to get serviced, without making an appointment as most location make you do. I walked in, was greeted, explained my problem.....and in less than an hour I was in & out with a brand new functional iPhone --that was no longer cutting my fingers with each swipe or giving me glass splinters! During the wait, I browsed around and played with every device in the store.....I tried to resist....but in the process I even upgraded my old iPad. Again, all within the hour...and walked out, happy of course! Spending your hard earn money....you expect at least good service and an acceptable customer experience. I would like to start this off by saying that the only reason I had to do any of this was due to every other location being out of AirPods. Hence why I needed to pick them up from this location as i paid for them in advance. From the very beginning it was a bad experience. I arrived at the location about 10 minutes prior to it opening. I did not even get out of my car and already the security guard inside the door was giving me a rude look. After the store opened I walked in and was told by someone they would assist me. It went farther downhill from there. The man would was trying to assist me was not able to locate my order at first. When he finally did he said that it was still processing. I showed him my phone and the veteran price that I paid and asked if I was able to still purchase the AirPods at that price. He said yes and to cancel the order. After I canceled it he then told me that the price I was to be charged was higher than the one I had already paid for online. And that I needed to reorder it online all over again. He said that he could only charge me the full price for the AirPods and was not able to give me the veteran price. I am thankful for Apple having this program but if I'm not able to actually use it why even try? I am now wasting my time sitting in my car where I have already had to pay for parking once and will now be paying just about what I would have if I had just paid the full price. Parking is NOT CHEAP BY THIS LOCATION. This place has horrible service. I was not told anything after that. So now I am waiting. AGAIN. read more

I'm not even sure why they have 3 stars but I absolutely love this location! Not once have I left with out a solution. Everything has been done efficiently and the staff was friendly. But this review was about my visit today David and I wish I remembered her name she was shadowing him and was the sweetest thing ever! So apparently my iPhone suffered a multi failure event causing it to give me a BSOD (black/blue screen of death). Not only that but my 2 way authentication to my email was tied to this phone. Whoops. I called the online number and someone from a call center said they were all booked for the day so I would have to wait till tomorrow. This is where the magic happened. I decided to go the same day anyway and plead my case, ends up they had extra time for me and evaluated my phone on that day. No need to haggle or plead for an appointment. They also did me a huge service and allowed me a trade in since my phone died. I'll be coming back for all my Apple needs here. I write reviews only when the service was exceptionally good, or terribly bad. I have been an Apple customer for a very long time, and my entire ecosystem is based on apple products. Today for the first time I had a horrible experience. Starting from the bouncer at the store who, after I was being attended by the nicest person in the store, without saying good morning or hi, or anything, demanded that I stand on top of one of the circles on the ground. I did not let that bothered me. After I started the conversation with a dry, smile-less sales associate, someone with the attitude of "I don't want to be here today" asked me, "how can I help you". I wanted a phone for my daughter to replace the one she currently has, so I asked for a price difference between A-B, he said "check the prices on the phone", "they are on the screen" he barked, at this point I was getting annoyed, so I proceed to try to find the prices... I told him, I can't find the prices, and he muttered "I see how this is going to go"...."I will be back". He comes back and attempted to help me find the prices which were on an app. At this point I am done with the interaction and requested to talk to a manager, He replied, there are no managers, you have to deal with me. I left him and spoke to someone else and requested to speak with a manager, a floor leader approached me and said, I saw the entire interaction and you need to calm down.... To be honest at that time I did need to calm down, and realized that my efforts to buy a phone at the store were a complete waste of my time. So I left. I've visited this Clarendon location a few times. Always experienced minimal wait times and mainly only come to this location to buy accessories or quick in & out transactions. I've never done any major purchases or service repairs. All the staff I have encounter was nice and provided personable customer service. The only thing is parking is semi limited and can be hard to find but its a great location to handle your Apple needs. read more

I've been in Apple stores from coast to coast and this is the most different one I've been in. It seems somewhat sparse in appearance and there are no accessory type products on the walls like in most other stores. I like the location, just 2 blocks from Clarendon Metro. If you choose to drive, there are 5 free on street parking spaces in front of the store. There is also a nearby public pay for parking garage. The Market Common is a horseshoe type road loop with shops and restaurants. On the day I went in, I was assisted by JuileAnn. She's the girl next door with a bubbly personality and engaging style. We talked about the benefits of being on the Apple iPhone plan versus that of one of the carriers. She was quite knowledgable and helpful. read more

OK so first of all, I used to love this location, it was my favorite apple store with my fav apple employees, and i was waiting with baited breath for it to re-open after the renovation. AFTER THE RENOVATION: i just don't get what they were trying to accomplish. It feels like we are all part of a strange new social experiment and it is NOT working. The new set up has no flow, like zero flow, you walk in and are like "where do i go for a genius bar appointment?" and after you manage to flag down someone to ask (which takes 5 minutes just to ask a question), you are sent to a random aisle that feels like you are in the way, while you wait to be told the time slot for walk-ins are anywhere from 1.5- 2.5 hours. And even after you are texted (at the almost 2 hour mark) and come to the store for a genius appointment, another 30 min of waiting ensues. I just don't get it. Adding to the weirdness they have all these wooden blocks that are the least comfortable seats they could find but i guess they look "cool" or "organic" or some nonsense like that, i don't know, all i know is, they are randomly scattered in front of a screen wow-ing you with Apple magic (which is so unnecessary b/c hey, we are here, we are already the converted!) This store just has no flow. To make it worse, at this point i have had 3 separate genius appointments and each one has given me *radically* different advice for how to fix my problem (!!!!) (note: 2 weeks later and my problem is not actually fixed!) individually, the employees are fine and lovely and hard working and earnest. i just think they are being placed in this weird, artificially stressful social condition for a place trying to look so "cool" because it has no order. (and i mean NO order, for example, there is no central place to check out if you just wanna grab something off the wall and go, you have to wait (with extreme patience) for someone to be done with another client and then be like 'hey, i hate to bother you but could i buy this?" as if you are inconveniencing them by spending your money. argh! just thinking about it annoys me! read more

What a racket! Apple Support told me on the phone to bring my 4 month old MBP in because the left speaker stopped working. So I did that only to be told in the store that they had to send it out for 1-1.5 weeks to be replaced. That doesn't seem great for a 4 month old computer. But the most annoying part was that they can't fix the speaker while the computer is running the macOS 10.14 beta. Chew on that for a second... can't fix a hardware problem because of a software version? So that was a colossal waste of time. And of course Apple is too cheap to validate parking, so it cost me $6 to be told that I had to find a way to downgrade to macOS 10.13 or wait until 10.14 is out officially before they can even send it in. A few months ago my little brother asked me if I could take him to that store that "smells like sweat." I had NO idea what he was talking about so I asked him for details. He said that the store was all white and they sold iPods. I started laughing immediately because he was right -- the store is one big sweaty mess, whether you are at Fair Oaks, Clarendon or Tysons. Despite the smell, I found my last experience at the Clarendon Apple Store to be extremely pleasant. I made an appointment at the Genuis Bar and was immediately serviced when it was my turn. The person helping me was able to access my situation (broken speaker), fix my phone, and get me out of there in less than twenty minutes. They have lots of comfy seating in their Kids section (I look like I'm 12 years old so nobody bugged me) and I got to play Fruit Ninja while waiting. Apple, you are so worth the hype! read more

I am sure you've all seen that kid in the toy store whose mother has to drag him/her out of it kicking and screaming because she won't buy the kid the latest trendy toy. Well, that kid was me yesterday. I fell in l-o-v-e with the iPad. But I WAAAAANT it! I really, really NEED it. Who knew some little 8x10 bobble could make me so happy. But it's only $499.00! If I hadn't just bought a new laptop in March I could see justifying a purchase. Also, given the fact that I am currently only partially employed I knew the glistening iPad was going to have to wait. I played with it for what seemed liked an hour. I am sure some manager nudged the cute salesboy to go over to me and sell me up or shoo me out like the squatter I was becoming. The salesboy was actually really nice and helpful. I asked what would anyone need with the 64GB version and what the hell is 3G? He explained, but all I could do was run my fingers over the screen and expand and decrease the page. That was cool. He realized then that I was technology-challenged and said, "My mom has the 16GB version and that's perfect for her." I think I'd like to get a cup of tea with his mom. When I buy my 16GB iPad we could pull them out and search for recipes together. That would be fun. read more

Attentive and patient staff, convenient late weekday hours (Clarendon location closes at 9pm) and quick fulfilling of online order. I ordered a new phone online to pick up in store at the Clarendon location. The store location is pretty convenient, surrounded by other popular retail and with a fairly large parking garage attached to the shopping center (though parking is not free and Apple does not validate). Upon arrival, 3 associates were there to greet me and start assisting with my order. The iPhone was ready for pick-up and quickly brought out by another staff member while the associate assigned to me (Gabe) talked me through the process of transferring my data from my current phone to the new device. Gabe was friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the steps needed to set up the new phone, and enjoyable to talk to. He provided a couple of options for backing my iCloud up and for trading in my current phone for store credit. He assisted me until closing and none of the other associates made me feel rushed as it hit 9pm. The store itself was very open and clean, with many display tables and devices to browse (as most Apple Stores are). read more

This similar to any other Apple Store I've been to. The employees are helpful and perky. I came with my dad who recently purchased a MacBook to the Apple Basics class with CJ. CJ was so patient with all these Mac newbies. I would have lost mine. And my dad really enjoyed the class and learned the basics of the Mac OS. I also learned a few features in El Capitan that I didn't know about such as the split screen feature. After the class my dad said he was interested in taking more Apple classes so I'm glad he'll be in good hands and I won't have to help him too much to learn the operating system. read more

Over the last four weeks, I've made several trips to local Apple Stores. If you are over 45 years of age, I'd suggest going to the Clarendon Apple Store. I drove my elderly neighbor there so he could make an appointment. We returned at the appointment time. They solved his software problem and taught him how to fix it himself, if it happens again. The Fair Oaks Mall Apple Store, by contrast, was mass chaos when I visited. Their very young sales staff seemed more interested in cranking out iPhone, iPad, and accessory sales than helping solve an online sales glitch. I was treated as if my online sales glitch was an inconvenience for them to try and solve. Sadly, quality customer service, by what I observed, was not a priority for the Fair Oaks Apple store. Sales quantity seems to be the higher priority. (They must be reserving their best customer service skills for those customers who are under 35 and to whose experience they can relate to.) Consequently, the store and Apple lost out on an expensive iMac upgrade. read more

They are friendly. That is IT. Today was a frustrating enough experience that it makes me not want another apple product. NEVER MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AFTER 6pm. These folks are in a rush for that clock to hit 9pm so they can leave. I went in with two devices. An iPhone 6s Plus (with minor batter issues) and an iPad Air that couldn't charge passed 1%. I left there tonight with an iPad that I was told they'd have to replace because they don't repair batteries for (fair enough), and a replacement phone. Before I left my phone there, the associate said my phone had been backed up as of that afternoon. I asked was he sure, and he assured me that he saw that my phone was backed up. (Update: He was ABSOLUTELY WRONG. My phone had been updated as YESTERDAY. So because he didn't know what day it was, I lost vital messages off my phone because he thought it was ok not to let the customer double-check. Thanks Apple Store Clarendon . I left my phone and came back and was told, "So we put a new battery in your phone and it just wouldn't power on. Sometimes when we changed batteries into the phones, they just don't take. Anyway your phone needed to be swapped out. Pay the $33.10, and go home and set up your phone." Just that fast, and just in that friendly-rude manner. While I understand I was there at 7p and you all close at 9p, that was no reason to be that pushy. Guess what, got home and couldn't restore my phone because I couldn't get the verification code because the only two devices that I had attached to iCloud were either not working or needed to be set up (my phone and my iPad). But because this dude was hyper-focused on getting me out before close, he rushed me through a process I was completely uncomfortable with. The service here is TERRIBLE. read more

I'm not a fan of Apple Stores to be honest. They all seem pretty snooty and hipsterish most of the time, and this is from someone who has an iPhone 6, iPad, and multiple iPods. This particualr store in Clarendon isn't that bad though! My friend shattered his iPhone screen and had to get it repaired here. The staff was really helpful and polite when dealing with him. The only downside for this particular store is finding parking near the store - it's a mess. It cost him $109 to get the screen replaced (expensive, but nothing compared to having to purchase a new phone) so he was happy. We dropped the phone off around 6 pm and they said they'd have it ready at 6:45 so it was a quick turnaround! Definitely recommend this place for your Apple needs! read more

Made an appointment online to replace my phone which has had a long withstanding power button issue. Walked in, was immediately greeted, and was attended to by a genius in less than two minutes. How lucky, because dude told me that I had 16 days left on the original warranty, and I hadn't had the extended warranty. "Did you back up your phone?" "Yup." "Okay, I'll go get a new one for you." Another couple minutes pass, he comes over with a new iPhone, wipes out my old one, replaces my sim card, sign his iPad, I am on my way. Couldn't have been easier. read more

OK this is your run-of-the-mill conveyor belt chic Apple Store, but at least it has a neighborhood store feel. The store has all the usual Apple flares and gimmicks: stylish "bars" displaying products, blue-shirted employees milling around helping people with purchases, clean ultra postmodern design and all. The staff there and the "geniuses" at the Genius Bar are usually friendly. Someone will always greet you when you enter the store. I have come here multiple times to purchase Apple products (but mostly peripherals). Overall, this is more like a place when my phone or laptop needed to be rescued or repaired. In a pinch, it's close by. It's easier to get to than the snobbish Georgetown Apple Store. It's usually possible to get next day or same day appointments via Apple's website. The wait, though, is terrible even if you arrive well before your appointment or on time. The wait averages 15-30 minutes. Like other reviewers have said, the tech reps hop back and forth among different customers at that long bar, so it takes longer for everyone's problems to be solved. My 3-month apple watch series 3 screen shattered for no reason last week, so I brought it in to be repaired. In order for it to be "repaired" it costs $289 and you're essentially just given a refurbished apple watch. The price of $289 to fix a broken screen seems a bit too steep to me, but I paid it anyway. I quickly got my watch back (after having to wait a couple of days for an appointment). Everything was fine. I got it home, got it set-up great. Next there's an update, so I do that. Once the update finishes, the watch no longer accepts my passcode. Over the next two days while I wait for my appt, I chat with numerous apple support people both online and on the phone. They say I need to bring it in. I bring in the watch and then have to wait 40 minutes before I am seen when I have an appointment. Very inconvenient in the middle of the work day. The "genius" literally does a search on her ipad to figure out how to fix it, when its all the exact same steps I did. She says it can't be fixed and AGAIN needs to be sent out, and that I won't have to pay for this replacement. Like seriously, if they thought I'd pay when they gave me a defective replacement watch, they had another thing coming. Anyways, not helpful, cheap products, this may begin me officially swearing off apple for good. read more

I showed up for my battery replacement appointment about an hour and a half early hoping they could squeeze me in. The girl working the check-in for repairs said there weren't any appointments available. Being that I could count how many customers were in the store on 1 hand, I asked her if I could just cancel that appointment and be a walk-in. She said that she couldn't do that because it's their policy to not allow people to cancel their same day appointments and be walk-ins. She also said that I wouldn't want to even be a walk-in because the people waiting will be seen after my appointment. How? Who knows. Anyway, I walked around the strip mall and came back around 30 minutes before my appointment. There were no customers waiting for repairs. I went to let the guy know that I'm early and I'm going to wait for my appointment. He said that he could check me in and I could be seen right away. Walked in here on a recent Monday and was very excited to purchase an AppleWatch and a few other items. I was greeted upon entry - so far, so good. I was quicky redirected to a sales associate that I was told could/would help me with Apple Watches. Unfortunately that never happened. The sales associate I was directed to said: "These are our watches". That's it; nothing else. She never once offered to explain anything - be it the different price points, models, features, finishes, etc. There are a lot of differences within series 5 but she did nothing to explain anything at all; she just stood there with an RBF type of expression (google RBF if you don't know it...). The few questions I asked felt like pulling teeth - and this was met with brief responses and increasingly tensed and standoffish body language. I realized this wasn't going anywhere so I politely declined. She quickly zipped off into the break room. The complete and utter lack of interest, indifference and apathy was frustrating, especially since Apple used to pride themselves off of first-class service. I left the Clarendon location - drive straight to the Georgetown location and my $1000 purchase. This location offers the absolute worst Apple experience of any I have visited. Just bought a Series 6 watch, accessories, and other parts and had to endure a gantlet of passive-aggressive "sales" people who have apparently been trained to believe that the customer is always wrong. I'll start with their nonsensical COVID policies, which forbids customers from shopping unattended (because the virus can't spread if you're accompanied by a store employee?), and requires them to kick you out after your 15 minutes are up because "others have made appointments" -- though there wasn't a single person waiting outside to come in. Now for the "sales" experience. At first, the store employee I was assigned would not show me any physical watches or bands, but tried to get me to make my selection by looking at images on an iPad. After about 10 minutes, the employee grudgingly moved us to a table with actual watches and bands on display. Oh, I wanted to try on different bands and watches before dropping almost $1,000? The sighing and eye rolling made it clear that I was putting this employee through SUCH a hassle. "Can I look at headphones and adapters while I'm here?", I asked. Oh no, I was told, you'll have to make another appointment, and no, we don't have any more appointments today. I'd like to think this was an issue with two employees, but I visited this store last week to buy a set of the new Airpods Max headphones. I thought it would be a good idea to try out how calls sounded by having my sales person connect to the headphones, put them on, and call me. He obligingly did so. When I reported an echo, he suggested I walk to the other side of the store with my phone to my ear as he kept talking (a good idea, since the echo went away as the distance between us increased). Obviously that violated the "no unattended shopping" rule, as a clipboard-wielding employee pursued first me, then my salesperson to chew us out. Maybe Apple can't afford physical stores anymore and is purposely making the in store experience as unpleasant as possible to force more customers to buy their products online. Maybe this is just Apple's hysterical overreaction to "these uncertain times," which seems all the more ridiculous when every store around them asks people to mask up, but otherwise welcomes and values customers, while Apple employees clearly picture a perfect world as one in which customers never enter an Apple store again. Long gone are the days when you could enter an Apple store, browse their products in peace, ask a helpful sales person a question or two, and maybe buy an extra gadget or accessory to go with the one you were looking for. Their competition should book an appointment at Apple, take notes on how Apple store employees interact, and then instruct their own employees to do exactly the opposite. THAT would be a fun place to shop. Apple no longer is. read more

Battery died after only 2 years. After hours on the phone with technical support, it turned out to be a hardware issue. It took forever to get an appointment at this place and even then had to wait around to drop it off. When I got the machine back, IT HAD A TOTALLY NEW PROBLEM!! After dealing with Apple tech support again (this of course involves several hours of waiting on hold, trying random things), nothing worked, so it is, indeed, a hardware issue. "Sounds like maybe someone got the wires crossed." Not what I expected from the "Genius bar," but now I know better.... Now I have to take the machine BACK IN so they can fix their mistake. I give all my information to an Apple representative who's not even at this location but "will transfer me," and am then HUNG UP ON. Needless to say, I'M DONE... I'll be taking my machine to be repaired somewhere else and never buying another Apple product after this horrendous experience. People only pay so much money for Apple products because they're supposed to be high enough quality to not have problems for at least 3 years...but, if they do, people at least expect to have their issues resolved in a reasonably quick/competent manner. Scheduled an appointment for airpods to be serviced just for them to make me wait to tell me they were doing a store update and couldn't help, like you couldn't tell me that from the start you had me wait 30 mins to tell me this! Wtf this stores a joke and nobody knows what's going on or communicates with each other. i did a walk in to buy a new ipad yesterday and i literally had the sweetest guy help me. i've unfortunately forgotten his name but he had black hair with some white dye, piercings, tattoos. overall just the nicest guy. he was so helpful and friendly and i had the best time with him helping me. he was so upbeat and made the whole process so quick and easy. This store represents everything that is wrong with Apple. Been here a few times, most of the times the dorks that work here don't know how to fix a problem. They've replaced my brand new iPhone 3 times within a span of 6 months! If they are not being completely useless they're strutting around being rude. Last time I was here, the guy tells me he can't help me with my Mac because I don't have proof of purchase. And then turns around saying "I have a lot of people to help, so I have to move on". That was the extent of customer service he had to offer. You have to go through 3 people, asking the same questions as many times before you get punted to someone who tells you he doesn't know what's wrong with your device! Went in yesterday to purchase my very first Macbook pro. I went in thinking that I could just go in and make my purchase, since I knew exactly what I wanted. That wasn't the case - it took over 40 minutes. I walked in and waited for a greeting but never received one. I had to walk around the store to search for someone who looked like they had some type of authority. I found a gentleman with an ipad who was directing employees and asked him about making my purchase. He took my name and said someone would come and help me out. He was nice. After about 15 minutes a girl came to assist me. She was juggling assisting me and another customer (I very much appreciated her communication about that). Finally I made my purchase. She was extremely helpful. I would recommend two things : Over-staffing for the holiday season and ensuring that all employees (including busy ones) smile and greet anyone and everyone walking through their doors. read more

This store has problems. Organized poorly, it takes too long to find a team member who you can purchase items with. If it's crowded, the simplest purchasing activities can take up to half an hour. Some Genius Bar members here are competent and have people skills and are helpful. Sadly, others, including the manager, assume their customers are idiots and try to blame the customer for any technical faults of Apple products instead. Bad service and no cooperation. Recently, I met with at least 3 Genius Bar techs over my iPhone glitches that I've been having for months with my new phone, and they all told me different things. After resetting my phone twice at this locate to problem solve an issue, one Genius Bar support team member had the audacity to reset all my settings again, including passcode and TouchID, without asking me after I told him I already did so in the morning with the provider, and it didn't fix the issue. Then he disappeared with my iPhone in the back room without my approval and without communicating what he was doing, saying he'd be right back. He was gone for at least 10 minutes. I have no idea what he accessed while he was out of sight with my password protection turned off, but he was hardly apologetic for not communicating appropriately before disappearing with my personal data and photos exposed. Completely unnecessary action and not even effective because he ultimately didn't get the problem fixed. This was the most unprofessional interaction I've had at an Apple Store to date, and I've been an avid Mac user for decades. I realized soon enough it was coming from the top down after I met with the manager. I will never return to this store. The poor service and the time I've wasted here makes me not want to spend another penny on Apple products. read more

By far the WORST "customer service" I have ever encountered. Not only did I spend all day on the phone with a "genius" I was told my phone was in a certain batch of phones that needs to be sent out to be repaired and I would need to bring it to an apple store. Once at the apple store I was told my phone would need to be sent out for 2 weeks. Lucky for me, they gave me a loaner phone. When I asked for a screen protector or case I was told no. I then spoke to Phil, the manager, who also told me no. So now I am responsible for anything that happens to this loaner phone that I don't even want. When I asked Phil to give my contact information to his manager he refused and gave me the stores e-mail address for me to write and request the manager to call me.
