I don't normally leave reviews, but Gavin at the Verizon store on Clarendon Road in Arlington, VA absolutely deserves one. After my phone was stolen, I spent two days getting the runaround from Verizon and Apple. I walked into this store upset and at my breaking point. Gavin gave me his full attention and then spent 2.5 hours fighting with Verizon customer service on my behalf. I watched them hang up on him three times. He never gave up -- he said the customer needed to be helped, and he meant every word. Four hours later, everything was resolved. He got me exactly what I needed plus a $150 bill credit. If you need help and want someone who truly takes their job seriously, go see Gavin. He doesn't just deserve a great review -- he deserves a medal and a promotion. Honestly, just top down, it was surprisingly how such a small issue was handled so poorly. The issue was cosmetic and the fact that I like to connect my devices (that can) directly to my router using an Ethernet cable and not WiFi. Pic A is how it began and Pic B is how the first tech left it. Said he didn't have the part and that I may need to buy it. Called my building's rep who was not very helpful and then called tech support (1-855-690-9105) I spent a lot of time on the phone with tech support who swore up and down that Verizon has all parts and that I shouldn't have to pay. They sent another tech, Cesar, who left it like the Pic C - was very upset and called tech support who this time said she couldn't find my account - that did not help matters. Called tech support again (who found my account) and even let them view through my phone's camera and they were baffled and said the techs should have it. Got the DC office manager who said he'd ordered the part...see the text pic and I bet you can guess what happened. A 3rd tech came by who was honest and said they just didn't have this part in the warehouse. Eventually I just bought the part myself and finished it myself (Pic D and Pic E) and I'm lucky the part came with extra screws as Cesar must have tossed some. It appeared as though the building Verizon rep was going to compensate me but it has been a month and I haven't heard a peep. See the email pic. These guys looking to rob people. Went in there looking for a new phone, they said the cheapest deal they got is opening up 4 Lines , I'm just one person & needed only 1 phone. Bill is $188 a month. Turns out I've been laying $30 a month for each line (3 lines) I didn't even need. Called Verizon they fixed my bill , now it's $70 a month. You're asking what could improve ? Actually being helpful & finding the best deal is how you could improve. read more

I have worked with the team at the Clarendon Verizon store for many years and I only have praise for them. They have been friendly and helpful each time I have been there and they have always been able to solve my problems, help me pick out a phone or answer a technical question. Shout out to Manny who has helped me the last two times I have been in the store. He doesn't mind answering my questions, even the most basics ones. I never fell intimidated going into that shop. With a Verizon cell plan eligible of an upgrade, I popped into this store to get the latest iPhone. It's a larger space and they had several staff all who were busy. Eventually, a staff member helped, and the process was pretty easy. It took some time to get the actual phone due to them needing to open their back safe, but I got it over time. One miscommunication was that I was told I could drop my trade-in cell phone at any Verizon store when that wasn't the case. One good thing about this location is that they have a clean restroom for customers. read more

Update. Downgraded 3 stars to 2 stars. Had 2nd technician visit and he was able to install and activate the 2nd jack upstairs and now we have great wifi upstairs. It's the same technician and he took less than 30 minutes to do it. Why didn't he just do it the first time!!?? All this headache could have been completely avoided. He just wanted to be paid a 2nd time? The Verizon customer rep promised he would call us at 10:30AM after the 2nd installation and make sure the $160 fee is waived but we never got the call and we received the bill at night. So we call Verizon corporate line again and guess what, the new customer service rep says she doesn't see anything in the file regarding the promise to waive the $160 fee. Again we explain the whole situation and ask her to review the phone recordings from the 1st call which she wasn't willing to do -- even though the 1st rep said the recording will always be there for review because he couldn't give us a written record of the promise. After asking to escalate to her supervisor and a bunch of back and forth again, she promised she will record it properly in the file and waive the fee, and send us a follow up confirmation in 24 hours -- let's see if it's just more disappearing records and broken promises. This took another hour to get done. Customer service has been a complete disaster. On the other hand, home internet is fast. At least that's going for Verizon. I'll post another update after the whole saga is over. ----- Signed up for Verizon internet because Cyber Monday deals were really enticing, paying less for faster internet than Comcast and monthly price is supposed to be guaranteed for 5 years. Booked an installation appointment and technician showed up on time . Installation took over 2.5 hours but it worked. However, technician wasn't able to get the wifi extender working upstairs where the Verizon router doesn't reach and internet is super slow. Technician said since I got whole home wifi, they can send another technician over to get that fixed long as I call his supervisor and get it done within 7 days of activating Verizon service. After calling the supervisor number he provided there was no response from the supervisor for 6 days after multiple calls (never got to speak to him only able to leave voice messages). I ended up just calling the Verizon corporate number where the customer service rep said since the installation technician didn't put any notes in the installation order, it's considered completed with no issues. If I needed another technician to figure out the problem with the wifi extender they would charge me $160 or I can find someone to do it (where would I even find such a person?). After a lot of back and forth, the customer rep said he would escalate to sales and see if they can waive the fee for me since I'm a new customer and I'm so glad he got at least a verbal agreement to do so -- it's written down in the file but need to call them again after the 2nd installation to get the fee waived. This call took over 45 minutes but at least it sounds like it will work out. Will update review after that process is done. I don't know what's going on with the first technician. My guess is that the installation took too long and he didn't want to deal with having to install the wifi extender too, so he made up some reason to GTFO and punt the problem to someone else. read more

They'll discriminate against you if you're not speaking their "language". Staff members will exchange aggressive looks if you're not purchasing a product. They'll find a way to rip you off by manipulating your account. Their 2 staff members went into a small staff room, then came out to explain so the clients won't have transparent information when they did that. As a result, I was charged with way higher rates than what they had claimed. After a few months, the same staff (surprisingly still there to work) refused to help by repeating "I don't know anything about fios" when I reached out for help that's not related to fios, the staff walked away even while I was still politely asking for help so I could pay for my bills on the kiosk. He humiliated me. They're not shy about disrespecting clients in front of other clients and there was no manager to control their customer service quality. Staff members casually made political remarks about how this country doesn't treat others with respect, but THEY are the ones who don't treat people with respect. Dear Verizon, if you actually want to improve customer service, you need to take actions. Revisit the comments that are written here about this particular Clarendon store. Do something about it. Daryl the in-store rep who assisted me seemed very confused and kept on kept repeating back to me what I was telling him. Duh! His supervisor Cathy Ann would not come over to assist him. They were so incompetent that I resolved the problem with the assistance of the support team via Verizon chat while speaking to the in-store reps! Going through the new contract and the details of the exchanges, benefits and costs was complex but Tony was able to answer all of my questions and was spot on in calculating my new monthly Verizon fee. I tried to buy a new Google Pixel 8a phone to replace my current phone 4a model. I tried to work with Verizon online sales agent and thought we had set up the order, which involved picking up the phone at Best Buy. When the agent called me at Best Buy to finalize the deal, they said she had no record of the terms of the agreement. Her supervisor was of no help. Two weeks ago I got a sales message from Verizon that I had offers for a discount on the phone as well as the wireless plan for 55+. During an chat about these offers, I discovered another discount on my FiOS (internet, TV, and landline phone) service in combo with the wireless plan. One problem was that Verizon wireless is from Mars and Verizon FiOS is from Venus. I have my phone, but I'm still waiting for closure on the wireless plan and FiOS plan monthly charges/discounts. I'm guessing it's no different dealing with AT&T or T-Mobile, but the FTC, FCC, or some other agency needs to put some controls on these companies to make their prices transparent - like what's going on with the airlines and their prices. read more

FIOS tv service is horrendous since their recent "upgrade" to web delivery. As a long time subscriber, I use to extoll the reliability and clarity of their service. I never had pixelation and enjoyed great pictures. This new system has pixelation issues daily. Often the sound and picture are not synced. Setting up programs to record is more difficult. I do not recommend this service and am considering switching to Xfinity. read more

First and foremost, the employees at this store are only allowed to sell you things, with absolutely no autonomy or ability to serve their customers. I was sold an Apple Pencil that was incompatible with the iPad I was also purchasing (busy day, wasn't paying attention and assumed the person selling the product was knowledgeable enough to not sell me something first gen for a third gen product). I then went back to return the Pencil and due to a "unknown system error," I was told to come back to return the product. I called customer service because the Verizon store is not convenient and this was a Verizon employee error. I was told to return to the store. I did so today and was told there was no system override to take accountability for their mistake of (1) selling me an incompatible device; and (2) having a unknown system error on a day I was able to come in and return it during the 30-day return window. Therefore, because I was outside the 30-day window, there was nothing the manager could do. I was not met with an apology or any accountability for Verizon's errors - both in store and via customer service. I was refused assistance, belittled, and made to feel like it was MY error in the first place. I was told the only help I could receive was via calling a customer care representative. I called a customer care representative and one of the first things I was told was that the only person to grant exceptions for in-store purchase errors was the manager of the location. Nice! Contradictory information, again! I have since been on the phone with a managerial lead for the customer care service and Monica (out of AZ) has been incredibly helpful. Not only did she resolve the issue, she made me feel heard, apologized, and did clearly everything possible to accommodate for the Verizon errors. Don't waste your time dealing with the robots pushing Verizon products in a brick and mortar. They are the equivalent to a walking kiosk with a bad attitude (think worse than the DMV) and you'll receive far better customer service and accountability from calling Verizon's customer service line. read more

I had an overall negative and frustrating experience at this Verizon store. Prior to coming in, I called Verizon customer service to describe what I needed to be done. They recommended that I go in person to a store, and told me that the entire process should take "no more than 5-10 minutes at most". I spent about 2 hours at the Verizon for this request, and left with the request incomplete. What I needed to be done, was to purchase a SIM card, and have it placed inside an old phone, to activate it and add it to an already existing plan. My request required no alterations to the plan-- nothing aside from activating a phone with a new SIM card. Very straightforward request, involving no major changes at all. They installed the SIM card, but struggled to activate the phone, and told me I should "just go home and call customer service to figure it out". I genuinely felt that no one cared to help me here. The advisor working with me seemed distracted, didn't answer my questions, and would frequently walk away randomly for extended periods of time with no explanation, leaving me standing alone and wondering what was happening. I felt that I was annoying him by asking him to do his job to serve me. When I left, I had to call the customer service line, to try to get resolution of my situation over the phone. I am not techy, but the customer service rep was able to effectively guide me through steps that the in-person agent never attempted. The only pro I would add here is that this Verizon stayed open a bit past it's hours to try to help people resolve their issues. I believe that the store closed at 6:00, and I was in there until 6:20. They didn't kick me out, however they also didn't really make an effort to assist me with my issue. read more

TL;DR don't trust Verizon. They're a mess and a headache to deal with. Verizon at first seems like a great option for internet, especially for units with Fiber optics. But this company is deceptive. I have put a disconnection request in February 2023 when I moved to a unit where it didn't make sense to use Verizon anymore. I returned my router and submitted the request. They didn't warn me my cancellation request wasn't processed and charged me from February 2023 to August 2023 even though I returned my router and I've presented that I ended my lease at that unit. When I called customer service about the charges I got no help pursuing any reimbursement and got attitude from customer service. When I wanted to move with Fios for the unit before the move I wanted to cancel they had required me to open a completely new account. Terrible customer service, terrible account management systems, and shady business practices. I strongly recommend you don't do business with this company but if you absolutely must, use a credit card that you're confident you can perform chargebacks. Screw the autopay discount, the marginal savings is not worth getting scammed without any recourse. read more

Dude c'mon! What's with all the hate? I went in and they were busy, but I nabbed a free employee and he was totally helpful and dedicated to solving my issue. It was actually more of a hassle for him than it was for me, to get everything ironed out with another tech/help person on the phone. He pressed hard and direct to get me the solution that neither of us knew was even necessary when I first walked in the door. All I had to do was stand around nearby and occasionally answer a random question. I was just browsing around the shop while the guy was bending over backwards to help me. Verizon customer service is an oxymoron. I spent 9 days trying to get a new phone, was told it was shipped via UPS, given a tracking number which showed "delayed" for 7 days. I was told that it my responsibility to find it, because Verizon can't look for it. The Clarendon store manager suggested I go to UPS customer service in Alexandria. Then the Verizon Care (?) Representative told me on the phone that it was shipped - and lost - by FedEx. I'm hoping to end this nightmare by canceling the entire transaction, return and get credit for the merchandise that I did receive (accessories), and reset my account to the prior contract. I expect this to take about a month. Then I hope to go to Apple or Best Buy and get a new phone. read more

I would rate Verizon negative stars if I could - I've spent over 7 hours (sadly, not exaggerating) on the phone with Verizon over the past two weeks JUST trying to get basic internet set up in my condo. I've been told so many different excuses and "reasons" for the delayed service. Had 2 different technicians come out and tell me the problem is with their admin department and not a technical problem. Doesn't help that Verizon's call center people are off-shore and just read from a script. Quite possibly the most poorly managed company/customer service/technical staff I've ever encountered. As frustrating at Comcast may be, at least they answer the phone and have people who can fix whatever problem you have relatively quickly. read more

I went to this store after my mom placed an order for an iPhone for me to pick up there. I was told I wasn't authorized to pick it up as I wasn't an account manager, so I had my mom make the change in the account. The store manager still told me I wasn't an account manager and that it was probably just a delay in their system so I should come back tomorrow. I go back the next day and they've cancelled my order saying I took too long to pick it up, even though they're the ones who told me to come back that day! They also say I'm not an account manager still so I can't do an in store order for the phone. They tell me to call customer service to help get me added--why tf can't they do it?? So I call and am on hold for 45 minutes before sorting out the issue. By that point the store is minutes away from closing and they tell me they can't do anything. Why did you just make me sit on the phone with your customer service for an hour if I still can't get the phone that day?? Clearly no one in that store knows how to trouble shoot any issues on their own and showed no remorse for wasting hours of my time. They gave me inaccurate information, delegated their jobs to a 1-800 number, and refused to stay open just a few more minutes so my entire night wouldn't be an entire waste of time. read more

My husband needed a replacement on his iPhone while in Arlington for business. Simba was an amazing associate who helped me on the phone and then for our in store purchase. He was knowledgeable, kind, funny and informed us about all the deals they had going with the purchase. He helped my husband keep his phone messages and got his phone going so we didn't have to do anything when we got back to our hotel. It was a seemless transition and made it so easy for my husband who isn't very tech savvy. PLEASE do yourself a favor and ask for Simba! And to the owners of the store, that guy deserves a bonus! It's really hard to be in an unfamiliar city but he was so warm and kind we left feeling like we love Arlington!! read more

I cannot express how bad this all is. When the pandemic started, FIOS made it so that all its phone numbers do not call the store! Even FIOS customer service cannot reach individual stores! The number you see attached to the store is useless. It always says they are busy with other customers, but the truth is it will never result in you talking to the store. Further, customer service cannot tell you what various stores have in inventory! So I needed a new router, ordered it, and they gave me a list of stores where I could pick it up, including this store. I got there not knowing if they had it in inventory. I waited in line for help outside. When they finally could help me they said they don't have routers at this store - only phones. To be clear I now have to travel all the way to Fair Oaks to get a router which I've paid for, even though when I paid for it customer service told me a half dozen places closer would have the router. Verizon clearly has serious communication issues, which is ironic because communications is its business!!! read more

I had a bad experience with a sales rep names Ahmed. I bought two iPhones from this store with the buy one get one free deal. I travel outside the US sometimes, so I asked Ahmed if the phones were unlocked and he said yes. Then I asked him if there were any restrictions on selling one of the phones because I didn't need two. He said there were no restrictions; however, when all the payments were complete he said the second phone can only be sold to someone who lives outside the US. He said he assumed that I had overseas contacts. It's not his job to assume anything and should have been upfront with me before I paid for the phones. He acted like it wasn't his fault and put the blame on me and said I needed to be more specific with my questions. By this time, it was around 7 pm, which is when the store closes. I guess he wanted to get home, so he didn't bother to set up the phones. He said to call Verizon instead. He did the bare minimum as a customer service rep. Now I have to go back to a store again to get everything set up. He came across as a know it all but in the end, he did not have his facts straight. read more

Yelp should allow me to give this store negative stars. I am already with Verizon but want to have a new service/phone. While I was the only customer today, a male store associate asked me what I needed. I want to check the pricing, tax, discount(corporate and Fios) info on some iPhones but he was so reluctant to give me any info and claimed that I can talk to an online associate, while I was in the store. I told him what phone I want and asked about fees and such and he claim he worked here for 5 years and know more than I do. The whole conversation was not pleasant and he's definitely very passive aggressive. He really did a great job piss me off. Please avoid this store at al cost. read more

I have been a customer of Verizon for years, and I have never received service as piss poor as what I received today. I will preface this by saying that this review is for all of the employees, but for the young lady who I interacted with this afternoon and this evening. I took my phone to Verizon earlier today explaining that I was receiving a no service notification despite having my SIM card replaced. The young lady stated that it was an Apple issue because of the most recent software update and suggested I take it to Apple to look. I went to Apple, where they spent over 20 minutes running diagnostics and testing the SIM card. The Apple agent told me that it was not an issue with the system, it was an issue with the phone. She then suggested that I go back to Verizon to get a replacement. I walk back to Verizon and explain to the associates who ask how they can help me that I had spoken with the young woman earlier about the phone and went to Apple. When I relayed the information Apple gave me, the young woman said that it was not a Verizon issue, it was an Apple issue. Problem number one: If I am telling you that I just came from the Apple store where a professional ran diagnostics and said the issue was with the phone, "It's an Apple issue" is not an acceptable response. I relayed what the friend at Apple did and that she recommended that I seek a replacement under warranty. The young woman then told me that I couldn't use my warranty because nothing was physically wrong with the phone. This leads me to problem number two. Not once, during any encounter did this associate touch my phone, offer to do a diagnostic assessment, or check the SIM card. She did nothing but look at it. That was when I felt the ice getting thin and asked the associate if I could get more information about my account because regardless of what the issue was or whose fault it was, I needed a phone. Thankfully, another associate came up to me and walked me through the process of getting a replacement, because guess what? I actually do still have a warranty, which touches again on problem number two and brings me to problem number three. Because the associate shut me down about what was Verizon's problem and what wasn't wrong with the phone without actually extending effort to look into it, I almost missed out on getting a replacement phone, which is covered by Verizon. I didn't have a problem going to Apple, and I know that occasionally there are bugs in their software updates. That said, I do have a problem with getting shut down and being told what I can't do without having someone actually look at my phone and try to help me fix the problem. Will not be coming here again. read more

Wi-Fi router died on Tuesday night. Called Verizon Wed and talked to tech support to confirm router was dead (the "upgraded" Verizon router we purchased a year or so ago). They said they would send a new one that would arrive Friday. Also said we'd get an e-mail with tracking information. We didn't get either and called back Friday. The said it would be Tuesday before we receive it, at which point we said we'd have purchased a non-Verizon router if we knew it would be that long...so we told them we were going to purchase a router ourselves and would send back the Verizon router. Very happy with router we purchased (look for reviews online). Much faster, more options. So if your Verizon router dies, or if you just want a better router, something to consider. read more
