Went for the first time yesterday 2/27/2016. Cookies are fantastic. Service was good (see other reviews ... Appeared to me they fixed problems). Story of the start-up is good. I would like to try delivery service at some point. We got the double chocolate mint, blueberry with white chocolate, molasses cookie, and the champagne sugar cookie. The only negative was that the champagne was undercooked. I am sure they would have exchanged with us ... So lesson is check them before you leave. Delicious cookies! Mint Chocolate Chip and Regular Chocolate Chip are excellent. Cookies are doughy when they come out (I like them that way, but sometimes they could have been cooked another 30 seconds or so). They firm up on the ride home (if they make it that long!). What a nightmare of an operation. I ordered a valentines day order of about a half dozen cookies and some accessories to be delivered at 3:30, and yet 3 hours later they were never delivered. Their website provides a phone number that does not get answered with no available customer service to speak to. I was informed they received a massive amount of valentines day orders and instead of warning customers that there might be delays or issues due to this they just kept silent about it and kept my girlfriend waiting for hours for a surprise that never came. Fair warning to all: DO NOT TRY THE RON SWANSON COOKIE. Appalachia Cookie Company makes the best cookies in the High Country. We have them delivered to work and they always arrive warm and gooey. You can also order cold milk to go with your cookies. The owners come up with new cookies every so often and take suggestions so there is always something new to try. We mostly do delivery but they do have a small store front which is nicely decorated but only for pickups. Cheesecake is by far the best but I haven't tasted a cookie I haven't liked yet. Definitely call and plan ahead. Because the cookies are baked fresh to order, you have to wait longer times before delivery. read more

Not what it once was. Placed an online order and it wouldn't process. Web site glitches'. It's hard to get anyone to answer the phones and when you do they tell you they have already closed for the night, even though their posted hours state they are open for more than an hour more, and the staff doesnt seem to care. This has happened on multiple occasions. At least there is insomnia cookies that will actually pick up their phones and deliver! This is one of my favorite things about Boone. They're a great company that gives back to the community through many charitable organizations, and their cookies are AMAZING. My favorites are the honey peanut butter, chocolate chip, and cheesecake. Delivery is a little pricey, but definitely still affordable. The staff is friendly, and they'll even draw something on your delivery box if you request it! I come here every time I come back to Boone so I can bring some down the mountain to Raleigh. Luckily we went in when there wasn't a soul waiting. We ordered, ran across to McD's to get drinks and were back just as the cookies came out of the oven. Two of the cookies were over-baked, two were runny gooey on the inside. I loved the warm cookie smell, but wasn't too impressed with the employees. The location isn't great either. Great cookies made by people who seem to love what they do. Not to mention, its hard to beat cookies delivered to your door until 2am! Make sure to check out what special cookies they have going on because you never know what delicious cookie will only be available for a limited time. One thing to mention, I love soft cookies, and I love these cookies, but they can be too soft for some (falling apart soft, until they cool down a little). If you like your cookies less on the soft side then I'd ask them to cook them longer or have the oven preheated for when they arrive. read more

Stopped in today and got three cookies to try. The peanut butter cookie was best peanut butter cookie I've ever had. The cheesecake cookie was strange to me. I am usually a big fan of gooey cookies and cheesecake but I couldn't help but wish this one had been cooked more. I meant to order a smores cookie as the third cookie and even the guy checking me out thought it might have been labeled incorrectly so I am not sure what flavor it was. I think maybe one of the gluten free ones. It wasn't as good as the peanut butter one. Appalachia Cookie Company's cookies are very good - I have no complaints whatsoever about their product. In the past, I've always been very pleased with the company and their products. Recently I've had a negative experience in which I waited an hour in their lobby for two cookies to be prepared, only to find out that my cookies were finished much earlier than that and the cashier forgot to notify me of the fact; which has changed my perception of the business. Delivery is a little expensive because you do have to have a min order. The cookies were perfect as always and the staff were super helpful and put my order in early when I came in earlier than I planned.

I hate to give this rating because part of the product (the cookies) is absolutely fantastic. The other part of the product (the customer service) is horrible. Buyer beware if you order for delivery, don't expect the cookies to be on time and don't expect a refund if they are not. I called when my order was 15 minutes late and the girl said it would be another 15 minutes. I asked for a discount and she could not help so she put her supervisor on. He said no discount now but 10% off on a future order. He said that it was opening day of football season and they were down a delivery driver. That's the owner's problem, not the customer's problem and not a an excuse. Their website says "Everyone makes mistakes, if we've made one please let us know. We want to make sure your experience is amazing and that's why we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If something is not what you expected or isn't the way it's supposed to be tell us and we will do what we can to make it right." I was not 100% satisfied so I let them know. I sent an email to customer service asking to have about 35% of the total price refunded to me (the delivery fee, the prepaid tip, and the tax). Customer service never responded to my email. I don't expect they ever will and that is no way to run a business. read more
