I was running late, they were open and on my route. Didn't want a pizza so I ordered 6 Buffalo tenders for $17.50 What I got bore a striking resemblance to Weaver's. Terrible, just terrible. Have they no shame? read more

Apizza Grande Deep River - These are formed patties, NOT chicken tenderloin. For $17! - Pizza Near Me - Deep River, Connecticut

I highly recommend the delicious Greek Salad with grilled shrimp or grilled chicken at Apizza Grande. The greens are always fresh as well as the feta, olives, tomato, peppers and dressing. The atmosphere is relaxed and service is friendly, very accommodating and timely. You won't be disappointed with the selection and quality of the menu items. read more

Wow! This is what CT pizza is all about. We stopped here for lunch after visiting Pandemonium down the road. We had the meatball grinder, the sausage and pepper grinder, and a pepperoni pizza. The meatballs were flavorful. The sausage was sautéed with the peppers. The bread was crunchy and soft and warm. The pizza was exactly what CT pizza is known for: thin, crispy, flavorful crust, and a bright and zesty sauce. While Apizza Grande is a distance from where we live, we will definitely be back and we will bring others. read more

This review is on their pizza truck. Great party, they made you whatever you wanted, claim, shrimp, margarita, plain, etc. They kept making them till you stopped eating. What was leftover, they boxed and gave to the host. All the apizza was thin crust, and cooked to perfection. The staff could not do enough to accommodate your wants. read more

The only thing I've had there so far is pizza, But very good pizza! I'll be trying other foods in the future.

I was driving past and saw the pizza by the slice here. As I'm a sucker for slice pizza I dropped in to check it out. I'm very glad I did. Here's a pizza with a great pomodoro sauce rather than boring canned tomato sauce, everything was very melty (which made it a tad messy but that's part of the experience). If we're judging by tip flop, yes, when I folded it to eat it the tip of each slice was quite droopy. However, the crust was thin, I'd say pretty close to neopolitan style, and the bottom had a good slight char aspect going. Just enough to accentuate the flavor, not burnt. I was just going to carry on but I was compelled to return and get a couple smalls to go. They do have a dining room but it's almost an after thought, certainly not all that comfy looking. I'd say the core business is the take out. Either way, I'd highly recommend giving this place a shot. read more

over one week ago, I got take out I ordered a medium white spinach pizza with bacon and garlic and a large salad. The pizza had no spinach or garlic, It was basically a medium white pizza with under cooked bacon the bottom of the pizza box was soaked with grease. I called apizza grande, explained the situation I was told I would receive a credit to my debit card within 72 hours. I never received it, the bill was $57.49 kind of expensive for what i ordered. never again read more

Tip: do not order from here from online. I went to the website from the link on Yelp to order online, and found out later that it was placed through Grub Hub and was charged 30% more than I would've been if I called the restaurant directly. I thought Grub Hub was only a delivery company, but I guess not. I paid 30% extra to order online instead of calling on the phone. Also, there was a lady sitting at the table in there when I picked up today, that also had her dog sitting in a chair at the table when I went to pick up today. I love dogs, but prefer them not to be not the be in a restaurant that's making my food. Food was great again though and staff were all very friendly. read more

$35 for a single cheese pizza to be delivered to my house . Even though I told them that $35 is way too much and I don't want that pizza delivered to my house and they delivered it anyway just so they could charge me . this is my small businesses are dying because they want to price gouge and then they want to talk s*** to their customers . There is no way I will ever go back and I will make sure that all of my friends were from other towns will never go here read more

Great service and the pizza was amazing. Perfect sauce to topping ratio and an all around good experience. Definitely be returning

Usually great, pizza and salad selection is good, today just got burnt by them, basic tenders 1.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches long x 3 nothing else (no fries no frills) $13.00 , you can get these at the store a whole bag for $8 bucks, so much for honest pricing, maybe 5 bucks but 13.93 is crazy. After having a great pizza a few months ago here with a friend. I was celebrating arriving back home after a long absence. I ordered a shrimp scampi pizza and a garden salad DELIVERED. The salad was fair with too little dressing. But the pizza looked liked it went through a brake job from 100 miles an hour. One side of the pie was flipped over on to the other side. Topping was all mushed together on to one half of the pie. It was a disgusting mess that couldn't be fixed. Pizza was delivered stone cold. Wait was an hour. Must of had to wait for more deliveries to back up So we put the mess into the microwave, 2 pieces at a time which makes it come out doughy and chewy like gum. Such a disgusting mess to try and eat. Ruined our celebration for the night. Good reason to take a look at your pizza before tipping the driver read more

Sorry no... just... no, and FYI I am judging this on a local scale, not even comparing it to New Haven which would be unfair. Overall way Too salty and I love a lot of salt Dough is overworked leading to a very tough crust. Sauce too acidy. Overall has a flavor that I sometimes get from commercially produced Italian food (like prepared frozen meatballs in sauce, or frozen dinners) which I can only describe as chlorine like. My husband confirmed he tasted this and chlorine is the only way we could describe it though i'm sure it's not bleach in the food, perhaps it's the flavor of water or a type of oil used. Such a disappointment but there's plenty of other pizza options in town, just drive. read more

Over priced and not very good. They tried to say I ordered through grub hub and charge me an extra $3. I called the store directly!! Awful, awful, awful. Pizza was soupy in the middle and warm at best. read more

Very good pizza choice in the area. Nice crust, good quality cheese and great ratio of toppings to cheese/sauce. Sauce is a little bland for me but overall a win in an area with limited options. read more

We just moved to Westbrook from Wallingford CT where we had several delicious local pizza spots to choose from. We wanted to try pizza from the area for a new go to spot. Well, Pizza Grande is not the place. Pizza was way over priced ($50 for two pies), the order wasn't correct, and the employee seemed overwhelmed when we picked up. The pizza itself was fair at best. The dough was good and cooked properly, but the sauce had a weird taste - i like a sweet pizza sauce like New Haven style. Maybe if the pepperoni was actually on my pie I would have enjoyed it more. The other pizza was a white pie and had way too much olive oil on it. We won't be going back here. read more

One of the best pizzas I've ever had and I'm from brooklyn. I didn't think it would be as good at first and was expecting a decent pizza. It blew my expectations. I bought extras and ate them the next day and everyone like them. read more

For the area this place has really good food. They are close to our house so we get take out often. I have celiac and they offer gluten free options. Their salads are huge and they have Foxon Park beverages. We like it and have never had a bad meal. read more

Excellent food, and as others have mentioned an extensive menu for a small -town restaurant. The only place I've ever seen that offers not just fried dough on their menu, but fried dough topped with melted mozzarella. It's incredible, and the portion is generous. The pizza is also very good - the closest I've ever tasted to the pizzas made by my grandmother and my great grandmother - who was an immigrant from Sicily. My family orders pizza every Friday alternating between here (my and my father's choice) and another restaurant (my brother's choice). I so look forward to the Fridays where we take out from Apizza Grande! As someone who is 40 and has lived in the area all my life, I know that many businesses in the building where this restaurant is have failed - even though in my opinion they didn't have anything wrong with them. I'm guessing that the reason for this is the location. It's kind of out of the way and modest - looking. I really hope that we can keep Apizza Grande here for a long time. It's beyond worth the short trip from the center of town! read more

This is my family's second time ordering from this new location. There is definitely room for improvement. Tonight, I ordered a margarita red pizza, which is supposed to come w garlic, basil, and mozzarella. The pizza had only tomato's, and shredded mozzarella as the base (along w red sauce of course). Traditionally, I thought it was going to have sliced mozzarella. There was little to no basil :( garlic no where to be seen. We also got buffalo chicken pizza, which my family members enjoyed. Would really say it's a hit or miss with what you order. Delivery was fastest I've ever experienced. read more

Great pizza, friendly service and decent prices. Fresh toppings and lots of menu choices. A bit out of the way but worth the drive. They offer delivery service locally as well. read more

Don't recommend.... and here is why; Their pizza is decent but that is where it ends... Their breads are overloaded with cheese.. and when you ask for light or no cheese they can't seem to figure out this request... tried multiple times.. Most of their dinners are borderline fair and some are terrible.. Their pricing on some items is excessively high... if the food was great.. would be easier to accept. Lastly, if you question the bill, while at the counter..... they have a hard time explaining what you are paying for.... and are rude and short with their answers.. The prices don't always match what they have posted. read more

The first time I ordered from there I ordered a small Shrimp Scampi Pizza and a Meatball Grinder. As soon as I got the pizza in my hand(If was delivered )the Shrimp smelled.Ok I ate it and it was good, except it had a very chewy crust. The Meatball Grinder was awful!!!The worst meatballs I have ever tasted!Tasted like Dog food!!!However since they had only been open a few weeks,so they needed to work out the kinks. So I ordered last week a Margherita pizza. It was so much better. The crust wasn't chewy and was great read more

We ordered a Friday night dinner from grand Apizza in deep River for delivery. I ordered a Sicilian small bacon pizza which was absolutely delicious. Couple of cheeseburger grinders- must have been good I ate the whole grinder! I ordered some hot wings for my daughter and she said they were OK. I can tell you it's a pleasure to call there the people that answer the phone are always willing to take the time to talk about the menu and help you out. We will definitely order from there again. read more

Our first time trying this local spot. The pizza was disappointing. The sauce is very acidic and tastes like a can. It is super salty and overall tasted very processed. The main issue we had though is that we ordered two pizzas off of their online menu. When we went to pick it up, it was $10 more than the online price. When we got home and called to ask the price of the pizzas, they told us the mozzarella was $1.60 higher than the online price, which we understood, but the vodka sauce and chicken pizza was $8.00 more than the online price. To us, that's significant. They argued it's not their fault, it's the person who made the website. We argued it is their responsibility as a business to at least let their customers know (if they are unable/willing to change the website) when they order that there is a 40% increase over the advertised price. Plus there was an extra charge for using a credit card. We understand times are tough, but communication is important and when you think you're spending a certain amount and it's that much higher, it certainly felt like we were ripped off. Bottom line, be aware, their online prices mean nothing and they don't tell you they're significantly off when you call and the pizza was disappointing. read more

They got my order wrong twice. First they made grinders instead of dinners then they made the wrong dinner. When I called to complain they said it was the kitchen staffs fault for making grinders- they told them dinners then it was my fault for not speaking clearly when I asked for Chicken Florentine and they thought I said Chicken Sorrentino. read more
