This is such a terrific pizza place! The owner Tom is devoted to his pizzas. I have had most of the specialty pizzas and honestly can say they are all delicious. My fav is the DaVinci. I am partial to white pizzas and all of those are super tasty. We had brought a bottle of wine in the past and drunk it there with pizza and I even brought a little candle. It made it very cheery. For a takeout pizza place, this is super consistent and quite reasonable. read more

I have been ordering take out probably about 5 or 6 times/year from this place since I moved to the area about 7 years ago. Their pizza is traditional thin crust (I wouldn't call it "New Haven style" as one reviewer commented). It is good, not fantastic but definitely reliable. My Italian-American BF likes it in case that means anything. They have a lot of topping options (mostly standard stuff) but their menu offerings are good too. You can get white or red pizza. I would like to see them bring back FRESH mozzarella as there is nothing like toasty, bubbling, golden fresh soft mozz on a pizza. They do have a decent selection of salads that go beyond the expected iceberg lettuce and tomato garbage. I haven't had the calzones or other menu items so can't comment on them myself. I have tried a couple of the other pizza places around, even the new "wood fired" place in the next town (very dissappointing) but I keep coming back to Davinci. Pizza is ready quickly. Service is friendly. Prices are reasonable. I cannot speak to the eat in experience. I am not inclined to eat there because the atmosphere is anything but inviting. All hard surfaces like tile floors & gyp board walls - so it's loud and echoes like crazy. No significant decor, no personality. It is really one of those restaurants that is more of a to-go place. I gave them a second chance and they blew it! The place was boiling hot, no air conditioning! The pizza was burnt, the meatballs on my grinder were cold and peppery, and they forgot my cannoli. The staff was mostly young girls, the 2 people that worked the counter were a very pleasant young man and an extremely loud young woman. There were only 2 of us waiting for food in their very small dining room, and this young lady was yelling out our orders as if we were waiting in the parking lot. Dirty! Deep level grease was visible in the kitchen from my seat in the dining room in addition to a VERY MESSY amount of surface dirt, food scattered on the kitchen floor, messy workspaces, and overall 'lackidasical' attitude towards cleanliness. I am NOT a clean freak by any means, I camp, I dumpster dive at grocery stores, so for dirt to bother ME ... kind of a biggie. As all Pizza is inherently edible, even frozen grocery store pizza, and as I am NOT the type of person to be skeeved out by dirt, we ate. Real thin crust pizza done right in the small town gem! This place may be number something of many restaurants under the DaVinci family of pizza places but is number 1 in my book. The staff is always happy, welcoming and friendly. The pizza is always hot and the salads rock! Way to go, order one of the specialty pies and you will see what I mean they are delicious! read more

We continue to enjoy Divinci's pizza -- the crust is not too thin or too thick and the seasoning is just right -- very consistent -- highly recommend their pizza's and we've had their pasta dinners which are excellent as well -- very good value for the money!! read more

This is a small and casual little pizza Staff here are always friendly and I've never been unsatisfied with their pizzas. It wasn't until this past Friday though that I felt compelled to write a review. We ordered their large spinach and feta specialty pizza for takeout. It comes with a white sauce. It was amazing! It's definitely one of my new favorites. This place was also very accommodating for my whole daughter's basketball team when we decided to go out for pizza there one time. Great people! read more

Great local New Haven Style pizza, which I prefer. We often order from here and rarely disappointed. They will make whatever you want and way you want. There have been a few times when the crew didn't get the order right or the pizza wasn't as crispy as it could be, but all in all a great pizza place. Our go-to take-out pizzeria when visiting the shoreline, even though there are a couple other pizzerias in closer proximity. DaVinci has never failed us, they use quality ingredients (read: fresh mushrooms, not canned), and the sauce is not too sweet nor is it too salty. And, unlike some other pizzerias, you don't end up with oil from the low quality cheese running down your hands while eating it. While not spectacular pizza, it is a cut-above your run-of-the-mill pies. A big plus is their reliability: the pie is always ready for pick-up at the time we've been informed and the staff is unfailingly friendly and courteous. Have enjoyed Davinci's 5 or 6 times over the past year, and it is always a good choice. Calzones are huge and great for splitting between 2 or 3 people. Pizzas are loaded with toppings, occasionally a little wet. Service is frequently slow... Once even waited 55-minutes for a dine-in calzone. The main thing that gives me pause is when I witnessed a middle-aged male take a slice off the prep rack, begin eating it in the kitchen, and then toss it into the oven alongside 2 pizzas that were cooking. read more

When DaVinci opened, we were skeptical. About 4 pizza joints had come and gone from the location over the years, and none of them were very good. Tom and his guys have a great place. The prices are fair, it's BYOB, and there is a good selection of gourmet as well as traditional thin crust pizza. The Foxon Park soda selection is a nice change too from the usual Coke/Pepsi selections. read more

My wife and I came here with friends who live in the area. I think the pizza was excellent! It was definiltey NY style, with a nice thin and perfectly browned crust. The cheese was out of this world. I've been to this place a few times for lunch when working in the area and had pizza slices. They have a good variety of slices and the prices aren't bad. The pizza is decent; not as good as you get in New Haven County but okay. I was just there and decided to get a grinder for a change. I got an eggplant grinder with peppers and onions; big mistake. I had to wait 10 minutes for it which wasn't a problem. I got a bottle of soda with it and the bill was about 11.50. I bit into the sandwich and it was obvious they use the frozen eggplant cutlets for this but it's almost expected in a little pizza place. The sauce was almost nonexistent and had no taste but as I got to the other side of the grinder it was cold. The mozzarella cheese wasn't melted and the peppers were cold like they just threw it on the sandwich and never cooked it in the oven. I ended up leaving half of the sandwich. I can't remember being served a worse sandwich in years. If you go stick to pizza and cold sandwiches because if you're ordering a hot sandwich it will probably be half cold. Terrible!! read more

We go here regularly, and most times it's pretty good. But if you want anything but a standard cheese pizza, it's been inedibly soggy. Like wet. Gross.This isn't anything complicated--two veggie toppings. How do you screw that up? I complained the first time and they were great about it. Pizza here is so good! It's similar to Illianos. I love the pesto pizza. We usually get takeout but you can eat there, it's a super casual environment with a few tables. They also make fresh cannolis which are soooo good! Fresh, crunchy shell made to order with filling. I live in Westbrook, am very picky about my pizza, and am willing to drive the extra few miles because this pizza is better than any of the places in old saybrook, Westbrook and Clinton that I have tried. read more

Great veggie pesto grinder and the meatball/sausage combo grinder is yummy too! My favorite is white pizza with spinach & garlic made with fresh, thankfully not canned, baby spinach and cooked to perfection.
