Stopped here for lunch - they had a Gyro plate and I had been craving one! For $14, it comes with a gyro, a spinach pie (spanakopita), fries, and a salad. The gyro was delicious, there was a generous portion of flavorful meat, topped with tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki on a fresh pita. Would definitely get this again. Next time I'd stick to just the Gyro (not plate). I didnt love the fries, but I am not a huge fan of fries in the first place. The salad was good and a large portion. However my biggest complaint was the spinach pie. The filling tasted almost chemically - I was only able to take a couple bites before tossing it. read more

Sometimes I just crave the pizza here. It is not your typical pizza- more like a pan pizza. But it's uniqueness is what sets it apart. I especially love the pepperoni pizza- loaded with pepperoni that gets slightly crisped in the oven. And lots of cheese. The crust is a bit too bread-like for me- I like a chewier crust. Our local go to. The food is fresh, nothing fancy but awesome quality & great service. The salads are loaded with ingredients & are very shareable. Food is average at best. Over priced but they get away with it because there really aren't many other options close by. You have to be very specific with the way you want your food made because they really don't know what they're doing in all honestly. For example, who cooks cheese on top of your lettuce on a hot sub / grinder. I mean seriously? The pizza has so much cheese on it that it all comes falling off with your first bite so make sure to ask to go light on the cheese, but then again when you do that the cheese is minimal. Whoever is in charge of the cooking needs to be replaced. They own the whole building & property & the building is in desperate need of updating as well as the horrible parking lot that just keeps getting patched to only break down again within a month but they're too cheap to to actually have anything properly fixed. That's a clear sign alone that they really don't care about the quality of their food. With all that said, the staff is fairly friendly with the exception of them messing up your change when you pay so make sure to pay by card. No need to give a tip as their prices are so high that the tip should already be considered to be included with their higher than average prices that aren't justified by "ok" food. read more

Having a birthday as a kid during Covid sucks. I thought I'd cheer my son up with some pizza. The staff was friendly and they were not busy so I was in and out quick. Call me crazy, but isn't pizza supposed to come hot?!? My pizza was barely lukewarm. I had to go home and throw it on my pizza stone and heat up my house with the oven! OK - I don't expect Pepe's quality pizza at every joint but the pizza here was well below par. It's hard to see exactly what your getting as they have about 10 watts of light for the whole place. The food here is typical Greek pizzeria style. Not fancy but generally good. The service is prompt and the place is super family friendly. On a recent order, I asked for their vegetarian pizza with no cheese. Some places balk at a weird thing like that (pizza with no cheese?!) but they didn't hesitate to make it for me and it was great! Was directed here after a round of golf at local course as place to go for food and drinks. When you find it, you will notice a sign that says "Two Doors Down" which is actually a bar that is connected to the pizzeria. This is where we ate and this review is based on. Both spots are in a non-descript strip mall on major road in Moodus. Not much to look at from the outside. Upon entering on the Two Doors side of the establishment, you will find a very dark ambience. The place is very clean, mind you, but it certainly has dive / sports bar for the locals vibe all over it. For a random Wednesday evening, it actually had a decent sized crowd. Bar was standing room only and only 1-2 tables left with available seats. Sox game on 4-5 strategically placed TVs around the room. May have been 1-2 people working front. Bartender actually came over and served us at table. Very friendly guy and willing to offer his candid opinions on what to get. Three of us ordered separately and got a stromboli, calzone, and personal pie. Everything came out promptly and the calzone and stromboli were huge. I got the stromboli with pepperoni and it was awesome. Would definitely order again. As we are talking bar, I should comment on the drinks, but I only had water after a day of drinking on the course and my friends had mixed drinks which they didn't say anything about. Judging by taps and such, I would say this place will satisfy your basic requirements, but don't go expecting a crazy selection of beers or elaborate mixed drinks.
